Incorrect disk critically low error in LR 3.3

I have Lightroom 3.3 on a Windows 7 x64 machine. It's started to throw a disk critically low warning every few days for the drive that has my LR catalog on it. The drive has 390GB free
Has anyone else seen this before? Is it a known issue? How do I make it go away?
Thanks,
Neil

Just powered my machine on from sleep and Lightroom had this message up again. Which made me wonder... does it have anything to do with waking the machine from sleep? But alas, no. I tried to reproduce the problem by going to sleep with LR open and then waking the machine again, but the message didn't come up.
Anyone have any other ideas for how to chase the cause of this down? There are currently no files in the recycle bin and 393GB free on the drive.

  • Lightroom 4.3 Incorrectly gives 'critically low on disk space' errors

Lightroom 4.3 today started popping up random 'critically low on disk space' errors for the drive housing the catalog file.
The drive in question has over 500GB free.  There are no errors in Windows logs showing that OS is throwing these errors.
Very frustrating to have this error pop up every couple of minutes.
Has anyone else run into this issue, and if so, found a fix?
    -Daniel

I have the same issue with LR4.3.  The catalog is on a disk that currently has 283 GB free out of 698 GB total.
Occassionally I get the out of space message:
Ad additional problem I am having is that when I click to IMPORT photos, the Import panel is excrutiatingly slow.  Windows occassionally thinks that the program has crashed after I do something like start typing keywords to assign to the images about to be imported.  The slowness occurs before any actual import is ordered or even an import source is selected.
I don't know if these problems are related, but they are both very annoying!

    Is there a solution?

  • Running critically low on disk space.

I'm getting getting frequent "Running critically low on disk space." Except I have 200GB free on the drive with the library and 95GB free on my system drive. Still happening with v2.01. Any ideas on what is going on.
    Thanks.

The photos are in the library. But the library isn't on the start-up drive, so I don't think there should be any VM on it. But I was moving photos around so may have filled up the drive. But after emptying the trash and rebooting, I had 200GB free (on a 1TB drive) and still got the low space message.
It occurred to me to rebuild the database and that seems to have stopped the message.

  • Your Time Capsule disk is low on storage space - error

I am getting the error "Your Time Capsule disk is low on storage space." and it now flashes amber. I use the time capsule to set up a wireless network and I can no longer access the internet from my MapBook Pro in another room, only if I am next to the Time Capsule. Help!!! Why is my time capsule low on storage space? I thought it is suppose to delete the old backups to make room for the new backups.

    MacDoz wrote:
I too am getting the same low disk space issue on my Time Capsule, and have not been able to find an answer anywhere given that I thought the Time Capsule was meant to automatically delete old back-ups.
Those are two different, independent, things.
Since you can use a Time Capsule for things besides backups, there's a built-in warning (the flashing light) when it gets near full (exactly how full is not clear).
Time Machine is separate; when it doesn't have space for a new backup, it will delete the oldest backup(s) as necessary, if it can, to make room for new ones.
The handling is a bit different, though, for Leopard vs. Snow Leopard.
In Leopard, if you have the +Warn when old backups are deleted+ box checked in Time Machine Preferences > Options, it will fail with a message. All you have to do is remove the check.
In Snow Leopard, it will delete old backups as necessary, do the backup, then send a message if you have the box, now worded +Warn after old backups are deleted,+ checked.
See #C4 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting for details.

  • Thinkpad X201 critical low battery error 0190

I just bought a new battery recently because the one I had was completely dead, but now every time I try rebooting I get "0190 critical low battery error".
I've already updated the BIOS and I'm seeing no other results on Google to try to fix this. The only way I can boot up my laptop without getting that error is if I have the charger plugged in, but if it's not then I'll keep getting that error over and over.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Maybe it's a faulty battery. There are numerous reports about non-genuine Lenovo batteries being built with substandard or even dangerous components. Personally, I never use anything but genuine batteries in any of my ThinkPads. They are more expensive, but I've never been disappointed.
Do you have access to another known-good battery to test? Maybe a friend or colleague?
    Regards.

  • 0190 critical low battery error lenovo twist

Occasionally, I am getting this error "0190 critical low-battery". I am not sure how to replicate the error, but it only happens when I leave the laptop to fully charge. It doesn't happen every time I fully charge my laptop, but most of the times.
I am sure that it is not the new bios that causes this because I had encountered it before the bios upgrade. It seems to occur when I leaving my laptop hibernated to fully charge. To resolve I have to plug in the AC adaptor once.
On top of that I am already experiencing the "can't wake from sleep" problem with the new bios making my laptop highly unreliable
    Please advise
    Petros Sampatakos

I have a similar error that I think is related to 8.1 (Production version).    When the battery drains and shuts down automatically, I plug it in to charge.  When I am ready to use, I unplug and go to turn the machine back on and get the critical battery warning though I know the battery is fully charged.    I have to plug it back in, turn the machine on, wait for it to blue screen (which it does) and then it works fine.    Seems something that a bios update can address..... Hopefully someone at Lenovo sees this and cares to address

  • T400 power/battery problem (0190 critical low-battery error)

Hi everyone, I hope you guys can help me with this.
I was using my T400 and when the battery got low, I had to charge it, obviously. The T400 has these little LCD displays at the bottom of the screen, one of them is the battery (it was orange since the battery was low) and right next to it there is the display that lets you know the power cord is plugged in.
When I plugged the power cord in, I noticed the display did not work. So I was left with a non-charging power cord and a fast lowering battery power. What was to happen happened, so now my battery is completely depleted.
When I unplug the battery and try to power the laptop, there is no power at all, nothing.
When I put the battery in and try to power the laptop, I get the message 0190: Critical low-battery error.
    Thanks guys !

  • X1 0190 critical low-battery error but battery full

    Hi,
    Can anybody help
When starting my X1 without AC it gives me "0190 critical low-battery error" but when i connet ac an boot ith shows battery is full, and it holds for about 1.5 hours.
    Any ideas?

I contacted the vendor and they kindly sent me a replacement battery which addressed the problem immediately.  I did notice the new battery is a much tighter fit in the battery bay than the original so maybe that was part of the problem at least.

    Good day.
To clarify, you've posted in an old thread for a very different, and newer generation model of ThinkPad.
    (new thread created)
To answer, there's no such pinhole reset button on the T410s. It's a feature on select, newer generation models.
    Hope this helps.

  • [S430] 0190: Critical low-battery error while battery full

    Hi,
my one year old S430, which currently has its third mainboard and has already spent around three months of its young life in warranty repairs, shows a new problem since the last repair:
When powered on while on battery (with the battery fully charged) it beeps twice and shows "0190: Critical low-battery error", refusing to boot. This happens frequently but not always.
If i am fast enough i can enter and leave the BIOS-Setup and the problem is temporarily healed - machine boots normally.
With the first two mainboards i had never run into this. The current one had a prehistoric BIOS Version (from 2012) after replacement, so at first i thought this might cause the problem - but actually the problem persists after an update to the latest BIOS Version.
For the S431 this seems to be a known problem fixed by the latest BIOS. Any ideas/suggestions for the S430?
Oh, and PS: Thanks Lenovo for the excellent customer experience. When people ask me which Laptop to buy (which happens quite often), my answer is now "anything but Lenovo" (used to be "get a ThinkPad, be happy" before the S430).

  • Critical Kernel error while on windows partition, now neither mac or windows will boot help ?

Hi I was on my windows side of my mac when i got the blue-screen-of-death with something saying Critical Kernel Error, weird noises from the speakers and the macbook pro did a hard shut off.
Since then I can no longer boot into the mac or windows side (both are stuck infinitely loading). I ran disk utility on the mac side and I have an "Invalid Node Structure." Which disk utility cannot repair. I do have DiskWarrior on another mac to try and rebuild the mac partition through a firewire connection - i think that is the correct course of action ?
But does this mean my windows partition is likely gone or any idea what went on ? As I am terribly confused that while on my windows side I had an error that messsed up both partitions.
Or what to check for so this hopefully doesnt happen again if it is a hardware problem? My drive smart status is listed as "OK" and I cant seem to run the Apple Hardware test as upon attempting to get into it the laptop just shuts off while loading it, although I read somewhere the Apple Hardware test is no longer preloaded on macbook pros.
The system in question is a 15" macbook pro bought around July 2011.
    Thank you,
    Wes

Alright I have both my mac side and windows side repaired and functioning fine. Should I still be concerned ? Linc I know you are saying this is a drive malfunction but is there a way I can be sure ? I still cannot run AHT (restart, hold down D), and my laptop shipped with Lion installed so I believe it should run. It just boots into the mac side when I hold D..

  • Error "get disk space file error" to install patch p158 to FM 7.2

I have Adobe FM 7.2 with the Patch B144 on Windows 7 x64 and when I try to install the new patch AdobeFrameMaker7_2p158Patcher.exe I get the error "get disk space file error" and the window freeze.

    > I have Adobe FM 7.2 with the Patch B144 on Windows 7 x64 and ...
I'm surprised that FM7 even runs native in Win7. I would expect various random problems during FM ops, and a complete inability to reliably use the Acrobat/Distiller5 that came with FM7 (although a later version of Acrobat/Distiller, separately installed, might work, esp. if using a Print-to-Ps-and-Distill workflow).
You need to install FM7 inside a virtual machine. There are several solutions (e.g. Virtual Box) for that, some of which require that the CPU have hardware virtualization. Most AMD chips do. It's often fused-off, however, on low end Intel chips (just because you didn't pay enough).
I've built a Win7 Pro64 PC, and run FM7 in XP Mode (a virtual machine that is a complete instance of Windows XP/32, and not to be confused with Compatibility Mode). XP Mode is a free download from Microsoft, still available, but only for Windows 7 Enterprise, Professional and Ultimate (not Basic, Home or not-so-Premium). Note: XPM is not supported on Windows 8, 8.1 or 10. You'll need a 3rd-party VM for that (and you'll probably have to install your own copy of XP in any 3rd party VM).
If your chip is AMD, there's a hotfix patch (KB 2519949 as I recall) you need to install before you do anything else about XPM. This patch is not included in any of the 200+ Windows Updates that a virtualized XP wants you to install, in several waves (yes, this takes a while).
    And from a related discussion:
    >> Microsoft no longer support WinXP, does it a risk to use it?
After you install XP in the VM, and apply all 200+ Windows Updates, and install the apps you need:
    disable the VM's networking capability*
or at the very least never use a browser inside the VM
if possible, let the AV software in the host OS access the VM's virtual drive
MS is going to EOL Windows 7 in 2015Q2 as well.
    * For some apps, the networking would need to be on periodically for license validation.

  • Disk Utility: "Repairing disk failed with error Could not unmount disk"

Disk Utility: “Repairing disk failed with error Could not unmount disk”
Hi. I’ve been experiencing some mildly squirrelly behaviour with my system (vide infra) so decided to repair the two internal hard drives on my computer. The primary hard drive is a 74.53 GB ST380013AS that came with the system; its S.M.A.R.T. Status is “verified” and Disk Utility repairs permissions just fine. However, the second internal drive (Maxtor 6L250S0, 233.76 GB, lower Bay, Journaled HFS+), despite being verified by S.M.A.R.T. status and apparently running OK, fails to unmount when I ask Disk Utility to repair it- I get the above error message in red. I have repaired this disk with DiskWarrior (v3.03) and all appears to run AOK. Can anyone tell me why I cannot get Disk Utility to run on this secondary (eg, non-startup) disk? I have tried many times and the error is reproducible. Thank you!
    G5 1.6GHz PPC, 1 GB RAM, running OS 10.4.6

Thank you for these useful links!
For others who have this issue, I also found very helpful advice given to this question on the MacFixIt forums by MicroMat Tech3 at
    http://www.macfixitforums.com/php/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=tiger&Number=76265 1
He said: "Use the lsof command to find the open files on a volume that does not unmount or eject. Open Terminal, located in /Applications/Utilities. Type: sudo lsof | grep Leave a space after the p in grep, then drag the icon of the problem volume to the Terminal window. The pathname for the volume is pasted in for you; press Return. Then enter your administrative password at the prompt, and press Return."
At this point, one now has a list of the open files/processes on the volume that will not unmount. You can use Activity Monitor to terminate these processes if you wish, and then the volume will unmount as it should.
