Incorrect email address on iPhone iCloud

I have changed my email address. I changed it online and on my MacBook Pro but iCloud on my iPhone keeps using my old email address. I tried deleting the account on iCloud on my phone but it shows my old Apple ID and asks for the password which of course doesn't work. I simply want my iPhone to have the new email address.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted.  If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

After I updated to iOS 7, my iCloud account is showing the incorrect email address for my Apple ID but will not allow me to change it- it's gray and I can't click on it. How do I fix this?

If you change your email, you do not need to "change" your AppleID. Just edit your email(s) on your Apple ID by logging in to your AppleID account. You should always use the same AppleID for  Apple Services (iCloud, iTunes etc) and multiple ID will cause problems and confusion in the future.

  • I have a new email address and updated it with my apple id/icloud and updated on my iPhone, but i'm getting a pop up to enter my password with my old email address listed for iCloud/Apple id.

I have a new email address and updated my apple id/icloud  with the new address. I updated on my iPhone, but i'm keep getting a pop up to enter my password with my old email address listed for iCloud/Apple id.  How do I get it to go away?

Did you create a NEW Apple ID or did you change the email address for your OLD Apple ID? This will affect how you update apps in the future.
Anyway, go to Settings/iTunes&App Stores, log out, then log in with the new ID.

  • HT5622 When my daughter got her first iphone we set it up with my email address, she now has her own email & new iphone.  I want to use my email address for my icloud, can I delete the content  from the icloud account and continue to use my email?

When my daughter got her first iphone we set it up with my email address, she now has her own email & new iphone.  I want to use my email address for my icloud, can I delete the content from the icloud account and continue to use my email?

Yes, but be sure she is on a separate iCloud account with a separate ID before deleting anything.  Be sure there is nothing that you want to keep on your device too.  When you delete the data from iCloud it will be deleted from all devices signed into the account.  Then you can delete the data from the existing account by doing the following:
To delete the contacts, go to iCloud.com from your computer, log into your iCloud account and open Contacts, click on All Contacts on the left, to the right click on any single contact to select it, click on the Actions (gear shaped) icon at the bottom left and choose Select All, then press the Delete key on your keyboard.
For Calendars, open the calendar on icloud.com, click Edit on the bottom left, then tap the minus sign to the right of each calendar to delete it.
For Notes, open notes on icloud.com, click on each note on the left, then click Delete at the top to delete it.
For Reminders, open reminders on icloud.com, click on each reminder and press your Delete key to delete it.
For Mail, open your mail on icloud.com, click each folder on the left (such as your inbox), click on a single message to the right, press Control-A on your keyboard to select them all, then press your Delete key.  Repeat this for each of your mail folders except Trash.  When finished, click on the actions (gear-shaped) icon on the bottom left and select Empty Trash.
If you also want to delete your iCloud backups you can go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage on your device, tap the name of your device under Backups, then tap Delete Backup.

Entered incorrect email address when setting up Apple ID, also 'redeemed' $50 iTunes card before mistake was realised. Naturally, the email address cannot be validated, so cannot proceed further. Please help.

You can't merge IDs, but if you want to change the ID:
For iMessage, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID sign out, sign back in using the new ID.
For FaceTime, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.
For Purchasing, do this in Settings>iTunes & App Store.
For iCloud, start by saving your photo stream photos to your camera roll by opening your My Photo Stream album, tap Select, tap all the photos you want to save, tap the share icon (box with upward pointing arrow), then tap Save to Camera Roll. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and provide the password and choose Keep on My iPhone when prompted, then sign back in with your new ID and choose Merge to upload your data.

  • How do I get an iCloud email address for an iCloud account that is already set up?

When I set up my wife's iCloud account, I used her regular email address.  Now, when I try to iMessage her from my iPhone (4s), I am successful when I am on a wifi but not via my cellular connection.  I can iMessage other users.  I believe this is due to her not having an iCloud email address on her iCloud account.  I suspect that when my message is sent via cellular, it tries to go to her actual email address which fails.  She is able to iMessage me regardless of my connection from her iPad (4th).
Does anyone know how to add an iCloud address to an existing iCloud account?
    Thanks,
    Dave

Thanks Jim.  I'm pretty sure it is set up correctly.  The only issue the ipad has is it dies not receive messages from my iphone when the iphone is not on wifi.  She can send/receive imessages to/from others and from my iphone when it is on wifi.

  • Is it possible to download iOS  5 from one iMac and not get them totally wiped of apps and stuff. We have an iPad each and a communal email address and an iCloud address each. One iPad now is totally screwed up.

Is it possible to download iOS  5 from one iMac on two ipads and not get them totally wiped of apps and stuff. We have an iPad each and a communal email address and an iCloud address each. One iPad now is totally screwed up.

    Thank you for your reply.
I am somewhat new to iOS and OS having grown up with DOS and Windows. I am not familiar with IMAP and iCloud and I am not even sure which types of servers my various emails use.
The problem I would anticipate with iCloud is that (I assume) it would limit my access to data (including mail) on the iCloud to when I happen to be logged onto the internet. I also assume(?) that large files (photos etc.) would require some time to download whenever I wish to access them from whichever device I happen to be using (I hope I am wrong about this).
I have kept my devices to 500gb - 1TB for OS and 32gb - 128gb for iOS but since I have pretty slow WiFi (shared with DirecTV Whole Home and Netflix streaming) it is my impression that iCloud might be quite limited due to data transfer times.
Perhaps a factor would be that I have 2 DSL lines and my main DSL line is connected to two wireless routers (to also provide WiFi in a metal building that blocks WiFi and Cellular signals)
I may be totally wrong in my assumptions regarding iCloud. My mail is not so urgent that I need access to it instantly and I could wait until I had internet access or I can get it on my iPhone. My main concern with iCloud would be my data files (Word, Pages, Excel, Numbers etc.).
On the other hand, if I wanted to keep my 10,000 emails that would take up a lot of iCloud memory and I don't know how to measure how much storage it would take or how to move Hotmail or even iCloud mail to iCloud.
It may take me some time to figure this out.

  • Clearing old emails addresses on iPhone

Is there any method to clear old or incorrect email addresses to prevent them from popping up in auto fill?

Thank you but that isn't what I meant. When I write an email on my iphone, several email address for the same person will pop up while I know only one is still good.  It's no longer in my address book but continues to show up.  After more investigating, I found out that prior to version 7, there isn't any way to delete old email addresses unless you reset the phone. With version 7, there is a button next to any email addresses that may pop up that are no longer relavent.  If you click on the button, an option is to delete it. You can also create a contact using it if wanted.  So, I appreciate your help. Maybe my research helped you out!

  • I have changed my itunes account email address but apps linked to itunes have not updated email address on iphone 4

I have changed my itunes account email address but apps linked to itunes have not updated to the new email address on iphone 4

    Welcome to the Apple community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
When you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.

  • Email address linked to iCloud?

Hi all, apologies if this has been answered elsewhere or I have posted in the wrong area. I know there are discussions about email addresses linked to iCloud, however, I have a bit of a weird one...
I have had an Outlook email address for years and use it on my iPhone as my main Apple ID. Some time ago, I created a new iCloud address from the same phone whilst logged in with my Outlook address.
I have NEVER linked the Outlook address to my iCloud address through Apple ID. However, they are linked! Hope the following makes sense:
    1. If I log into iCloud.com on my PC, whether I log in using Outlook or iCloud email address, I see the same information - emails, contacts etc.
    2. When I log into my Apple ID, the emails are not linked - only the Outlook address shows.
    3. I have a lot of spam email on the iCloud address. My macbook is set up under the Outlook address and I still receive emails from the iCloud address under this ID... so confusing.
I don't want the two emails linked (even though I never had and they don't appear to be visually), but they clearly are in some way.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance.

Not without creating a new iCloud account.  If you want to do this, create a new ID with the email address you want to use, then go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn all data you are syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.  When prompted choose to keep the data on your device.  (If you are syncing iWork documents with iCloud, also open your iWork apps and turn off iCloud syncing and choose to keep the documents on your phone.)  After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using your new ID, then turn syncing for your data (contacts, etc.) back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to your new account.
This will not move your photo stream, however.  If you have photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll and that you haven't backed up anywhere else you will need to save these before deleting the account.  To do this, open your photo stream album on your device in the thumbnail view, tap Edit, tap all the photos to select them, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.  You can then delete the iCloud account and your photos will stay in your camera roll.
