Incorrect iCloud badge counts – calendar/reminders

My iCloud badge counts are way off, and getting worse every day – specifically the calendar and reminder counts.
Every day they just increase, without me using either app on my iPhone/iPad/Mac. When I open them up, there's no apparent reason for the badges at all. They should be 0, or rather, not there.
Here's a video showing some of the strange behaviour my account is exhibiting. The calendar count goes from 11 to 0 by just opening the calendar. Upon logging in again, it's back to 11, or even more.

Any ideas?

I haven't yet, but I can give it a go. Quite a lot of devices linked up; iPhone, iPad, MBP, 2x iMacs!
It's really strange that it's only on icloud.com. None of my devices are showing any odd notifications/erroneous data.

  • Incorrect Folder Badge Count

I have a folder on my homescreen with several apps in it. This problem has not come up until just recently, but the notification badge count for the folder is always one less than the number of notifications if I open the folder and count each app's notifications.
I have tried clearing all the notifications, turning notifications off and then on again, restarting my phone, and removing all the apps from the folder and then recreating it. Nothing has worked so far. Has anyone else run into this problem?
I am on an iPhone 4S with iOS 5.0.1. Thanks!

I found the app that was causing the problem and deleting and reinstalling it worked.
In my case the offending app was Ticket to Rode Pocket. To figure this out I took each app out of the folder one by one to see if the folder's badge count was correct without it. Without Ticket to Ride in the folder the badge count was correct, but whenever it was in the folder it was acting as a -1 for the folder.
I deleted the app and reinstalled it, restarting my iPhone after each of those steps just to be safe, and that fixed the problem for now. Hopefully it proves to be a permanent solution.

  • Reminder badge count is incorrect

My Reminder badge count shows that I have 4 tasks outstanding - when I have none. This is true for the machine I just upgraded to Yosemite and the one that is also running Mavericks. My iOS devices are fine.
When I go into Reminders and click on the "Task" tab on the left I can see the four tasks (from 2012) - I can mark them as completed - and it ignores the action. I can delete them and it ignores the action. I can change the due date and it ignores the action. The one thing that is different than current tasks is that rather than associated with iCloud tasks it references calendar tasks.
Is there anyway to clear these out?
    Thanks

I've been having this same issue for a while on my iPad2. After scanning this post, I decided to start removing items from the misbehaving folder. No change, until I got to Camera Prime (iPhone app). This app does not have any control panel settings for badges, but does have an internal option (by the way, the folder showed the badge number -3). Upon removing the offending app (Camera Prime), the count immediately corrected.
Attempt 1) I opened the app, turned off the badge count (no badge showing on the app by the way), and then put the app back into that folder. Count on the folder dropped by ONE only.
Attempt 2) Deleted the app, reinstalled from the cloud, put it back in the folder. Count drops by ONE. Tried deleting through the control panel (deletes data as well), then reinstalled. No change.
Test1 - Moved the app to a different folder (with a badge count), count reduced by ONE.
Test2 - Moved the app to a different folder with NO badge count. No change.
So I've reduced the effect of the count, but this app (Camera Prime) seems to have a defect that is (perhaps) a default count of -1.
Have not tried resetting the iPad since going through this. Maybe later.
    Good luck.

These are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to Apple here, so I've asked the hosts to remove your email address, postal addresses and phone numbers from your post.
I'm not entirely sure what you are saying, but if those apps are crashing then have you tried toggling them 'off' and 'on' via Settings > iCloud ? And if that doesn't fix it then try closing them via the iPad's taskbar : from the home screen (i.e. not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
You could also try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
    If it's a different problem ... ?

I just upgraded to iOS7 and started using icloud with Outlook 2010. I dealt with switching over to only using icloud for my calendar, but now my calendar reminders are only randomly popping up which is very frustrating. They show up on my phone however. And under my calendar on my main page it doesn't show any appointments coming up. Any suggestions on a fix?

    Hey Csound1,
Looks like we found a solution, it's Mickey Mouse but it works.  After talking to two Apple Senior Advisors, this is the fix they came up with:
The first advisor after exploring it for awhile, came to the conclusion the way to get my calendars back local On my Mac with the alerts as I had then was to import the saved .ics files with my my 'dangerous email alerts' being removed then me manually re-adding them.   I said that was a no go.
The second advisor, after speaking with me for awhile and trying a few things that we'd tried before said he'd do some work on his end and call me back.  A couple of hours later he phoned back with a fix that I guess will have to do, his solution:
I had to go into Calendar-preferencs-accounts and create a Gmail calendar, quit and restart Calendar, I created a calendar in the gMail account.  Then I was given the option  in Calendar under File-New Calendar to create On my Mac local calendars.  Next was to create local calendars with the same names as my iCloud calendars.  Now I had to un-check all calendars but one, put Calendar in month view, command-click all the events for the given calendar and drag them to the new local calendar of the same name.  I then had to repeat this for each of the calendars and for all 12 months of the year.
I'm not done yet but it seems to be working.  As I said Mickey Mouse but doing the job.  It seems creating another online calendar account was the only way to get the local On my Mac option, active again.  What a pain in the a** this has been, I will repeat it again
    iCloud is EVIL.

  • Calendar reminders (notifications) still NOT working, even after 602 update.....

So, Verizon Wireless released the 602 update to the Gingerbread OS for the Droid X, and the calendar reminder popups (notifications) are still NOT working properly.
This is VERY frustrating, as I use these notifications (reminder pop ups) for everything from business related (meetings, etc) to personal (when to take medicines, etc).
It's also VERY frustrating because BEFORE Gingerbread, when the Droid X ran Froyo, there was NOT a problem with the calendar and its reminders.
I would assume that there are MANY, MANY people being affected by this issue...and I wonder why Verizon hasn't "put the heat" on Google to FIX this issue which is clearly related to the Android OS, more specifically, Gingerbread.
I used to like the Droid X very much, but now I'm counting the days until I can get an iPhone.  At least you know what you're getting, and won't have an update "break" functions of the phone.
So, Verizon, if you're listening... PLEASE get this calendar notification problem FIXED.
    Thank you!!

I'm the original poster of this topic.  And let me tell you the steps that I went through to try to get this resolved, and then I'll let you know the ultimate solution that I wound up doing and am happy about (but am NOT happy about Verizon & Motorola).
    1) updated DroidX to latest 602 update.
    2) went into admin partition and deleted cache
    still did not work
    3) went into admin partition and did hard reset (complete restore) from inside the admin partition
Still did not get calendar reminders to work.
    4) went into normal phone and accessed "Restore Phone to Factory Specs" from the Privacy menu in settings.  This caused the phone to do a similar hard reset as in step 3, except it also ran the beginning software (welcome to your Droid, we now have to activate your phone, etc).
Calendar reminders did not work. (REMEMBER... when I say they did not work, I mean that the reminders would go off EVENTUALLY , but anywhere from 30mins AFTER the appointment to literally HOURS AFTER the appointment).
    5) Created a COMPLETELY NEW AND DIFFERENT calendar at Google under a DIFFERENT screen name/account.  Configured DroidX to completely forget the original calendar and to start using the NEW one.
Reminders still did NOT work properly.
    6) Once again, tried hard resets.
    NOPE.  Still did NOT work.
    7) CALLED Verizon Wireless and described my problem and they pretty much didn't/couldn't help and said they would "send a report to the engineering team" about the problem.
And HERE is the thing that REALLY BURNED ME UP about this WHOLE ENTIRE DEBACLE.....  my DroidX worked 100% correctly BEFORE the Gingerbread upgrade to the Android OS.  When it was running Froyo (previous OS), every single calendar reminder on my original calendar worked every single time, on time, every time.  BUT... AFTER Gingerbread, it just didn't work.  (Don't get me started with the phantom powering on of the phone after it was powered off problem that STILL exists after the 602 upgrade).
SO.......... what did I eventually do???   Well, by this time, I was eligible for early upgrade at upgrading pricing and switched to the iPhone4 (I didn't want the 4S).  AND YOU KNOW WHAT???  Using the ORIGINAL GOOGLE calendar that I used before all the above stuff happened, my reminders on the iPhone4 work all the time, every time.  These include appointments that I made 8 months ago to new ones that I make every day.  And for all of them, the iPhone4 sets the reminder chime off EXACTLY when I want it to.
Now, I realize that this doesn't address the problem for you, Ganamide (who wrote above), but for me, I finally got to the point where I had missed critical appointments with clients and couldn't wait around for the DroidX Calendar Reminder Problem to be resolved.
So Verizon Wireless and Motorola (maker of DroidX) and Google (maker of Android OS) all have "negative points" in my book for allowing such a problem to continue without proper resolution.   Apple, on the other hand, gets "positive points" in my book for making a product that is rock solid and works well.

  • Calendar, Reminders, Contacts do not sync

Calendar, Reminders, Contacts do not sync w my iPad. However, other apps do sync (i.e. mail, bookmarks etc.). Calendar, Reminders, Contacts are turned on in iPad as well as in iMac.

Let's focus on the Contacts. I have not been able to sync my Contacts in iMac and in the iCloud. Only half of my contacts from iMac appear in iCloud.
I have followed these instructions, step by step, but do not help:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3998
...except the last one: uncheck/check the checkmark next to Contacts in System Preferences/iCloud because this would delete Contacts in my iMac.
My Contacts account look as follows:
Do I need to use iTunes to sync Contacts?
    Any, really any, help appreciated.

  • IPhone 6 not syncing with other devices or shared calendar, reminders etc. using same Apple ID on all devices. Any ideas?

I have just bought a new iPhone 6 and updated it from the cloud with no issues (contacts all there as well as calendars that I have set up previously, for example) but have noticed that it will not sync to new content on my iPad or MacBook or vice versa, it is now like a stand alone device. Also, shared calendars set up by somebody else don't appear and I can't share a reminders list. I am signed in using my Apple ID, the same as I am on my other devices (which all still sync with each other as normal) but it is as if the iPhone is not on the same account. I have updated my iPad to IOS 8 with no issues so probably not an iOS problem. Does anyone have any suggestions before I trek into town to see a genius?

Unfortunatley 5 GB is not necessarily a lot of space.  What you should do is FIRST go into iCloud and choose what information you want turned on.
    Settings >iCloud
Here you should see different Tabs that will let you select what you want to back up on your device.  You have the option to back up the following data on your phone:
    Mail
    Contacts
    Calendars
    Reminders
    Safari
    Notes
    Passbook
    Photo Stream
    Documents & Data
    Find My iPhone
If you turn off some of these options you should free up some of your space.
Once you have backed up your device in iCloud, you can place your device in Recovery Mode in iTunes so it can be recognized.
To put phone in recovery mode:  Hold down home button and power button at top of phone at the same time.  Once you see the Apple on the device, CONTINUE to hold down the Home button.  Plug your phone into iTunes.  Do not let the Home button go until you see a message in iTunes stating that a device has been detected in recovery mode.

  • Calendar, Reminders and Contacts Apps won't open...

    Hello,
My iMac power cable got disconnected and it lost power interuptedly,
after starting it back up, i found that neither Calendar, Reminders or Contacts apps are starting up.
Did a little research before posting here, but nothing helped, I already tried:
    - verifying /repairing permissions
    - running daily/weekly/monthly scripts
    -  Reboot in safe mode
ANY Help is welcome as i am starting to loose hope,
and re-installing the whole Os seems a little extreme as a mesure,
    Thanks  : )

    Hello Staraway
If you are having issues with Calendars, Contacts and Reminders opening up then the next step would be to reinstall your operating system. One thing you can try is if you are using iCloud with those apps, then turn off the settings in System Preferences and open the apps to test.

  • My calendar reminders do not seem to be "pushing" to my iPhone. What am I doing wrong?

My calendar reminders do not seem to be "pushing" from my MAC to my iPhone via iCloud. Any thoughts about what I am doing wrong?

It sounds like you did a lot of burning with your Mac.
Set top DVD players are designed to playback commercial, pressed DVDs with very low error rates. As a result, many models have very limited error correction capabiities.
Writable DVDs can contain a lot of burn errors causing problems in these players.
For best results, you need to use quality media (Maxell or Verbatim) and NOT media like Memorex.  You need to burn at low burn speeds - 4x is good, 8x may be OK.  If you are burning several discs you MUST allow your burner to cool down between discs!

  • Icloud recognizes my calendars but won't sync

I am trying to set up iCloud to share calendars and reminders.  iCloud recognizes the names of the 2 calendars, but won't populate with events.
I just upgraded to iOS7 on my iphone 4S.
I've tried most of the trial and error "solutions" already out there.
There MUST BE and easier way!!

    Hi grumpy03,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you do not see events from your iCloud calendar on your iPhone, be sure to try all of these troubleshooting steps:
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3999
    Troubleshooting on iOS devices
First, confirm that you've turned on iCloud Calendar by tapping Settings > iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, then check that Calendars is turned on.
If you are having trouble with the Calendar app on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch) and iCloud Calendar, try these steps, testing after each to see if the issue is resolved.
Make sure your iOS device is online. Attempt to view www.apple.com in Safari. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud calendars and events will not update in your Calendar application. Learn how to troubleshoot your Internet connection.
Open a secure website to test if ports 80 and 443 are accessible. Calendar requires port 443 access to iCloud to push and fetch updates to and from the iCloud Calendar servers.
If recent changes don't appear, try to refresh your calendars:In iOS 7, open Calendar and tap the Calendars tab to load the Calendars list, then pull down on the list to refresh.
If you've recently made changes to your contacts' birthdays and are not seeing those changes reflected in your Birthdays Calendar, try to refresh your calendars. If you made the changes in the Contacts app on your Mac or at iCloud.com, it may take up to an hour for those changes to appear on your other devices.
If you add new events on your iOS device, but they do not update on iCloud.com or your other devices, confirm that you've added the event to an iCloud calendar:In iOS 7, open Calendar and tap the event to view the Event Details. Tap the calendar name to confirm that you've saved the event to an iCloud calendar.
You may want to verify your default calendar settings. If you want to create new events in an iCloud calendar, set that calendar to be your default calendar. You can modify Default Calendar settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Default Calendar.
If you're using iOS 7, quit and restart the Calendar app:
Press the Home button twice to see preview screens of the apps you have open.
Find the Calendar preview screen and swipe it up and out of preview to quit the application.
Tap the Home button to return to your Home screen.
Wait a minute before reopening the Calendar app.
Restart your iOS device: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears, then drag the slider. After the device turns off, turn it back on by pressing the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. This may sound simple, but it reinitializes your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.
Change the Sync settings for your calendars:
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Under Calendars, tap Sync. If Sync is set to All Events, set it to a specific duration, such as Events 1 Month Back. If it's already set to a specific duration, set it to All Events.
Tap the Home button. Wait several minutes, then open Calendar and try to refresh your calendars again.
Turn iCloud Calendar off and back on:
    Tap Settings > iCloud.
Turn off Calendar. Choose to delete data only if your data exists at icloud.com/calendar or on one or more of your computers. Otherwise, choose Keep Data.
Wait a few minutes before turning Calendar back on.
    Best,
    Jeremy

Would anyone know if there is a way to set up an iCloud email counter in the Safari toolbar so that one can see a notification if an email arrives to my iCloud email account?

    Hi Clay
Thank you for the response,  It is appreciated.  My Apple Mac OS is Lion 10.7.4.  Am concerned upgrading to Mountain Lion 10.8 as some perhaps some (or perhaps many?) of the applications I use on daily basis may not be ready yet? Should I not wait 3 or 4 months? When I upgraded to Lion I had issues with three if not four of the applications which were trying to catch up (Sonos, VLC etc.).
I will certainly look for Growl.  Thanks again for the good support.
