Incorrect Locations

When I download photos contain GPS co-ordinates (from a Lumix DMC-TZ10), iPhoto sometimes assigns the wrong location. It seems to have a preferred "default" location which it has picked up from earlier photos and uses this in preference to the real one. When I delete the incorrect location name on the photo, the place name reverts to "no name", but the location is shown correctly on the map.
Any suggestions as to what's going wrong and how I deal with it?
As a subsidiary comment, my Lumix seems to be able to generate much more specific place names than iPhoto can, but this data is lost when I download the photos. I've read that this data can't be transferred, but if anyone knows otherwise, please let me know.
Many thanks.

I do not understand what you are seeing. Are you saying that the coordinates are correct but iPhoto uses a different place name (I have never seen or herd of this except where there are database errors) or that the coordinates are of an older photo (My Sony will do this if I do not have GPS sync in the new location)

As you were told you can not currently use the location name data from the camera (or the compass direction if the camera includes that) - suggest to Apple - iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback

  • Incorrect location info

    Many of my photos have picked up incorrect location info in the transfer form iPhoto. No idea how. How do I get rid of it? I am stymied.

    The ability to add, edit or remove GEO tags is not available in the current version of photos. There are a number of alternatives a user might use, but having spent many years using it todate and am quite comfortable with it,  I still use iPhoto to achieve this and then export the photos and import them into the photos application once they are tagged.

  • Report Generation Toolkit files in incorrect location after installing deployment

    TestStand 2010 SP1 + LabVIEW 2011 + Report Generation Tookit
    After installing a deployment, the location of NI_Excel.lvclass is expected to be at ...\VIs for <project name>\SupportVIs\Excel\NI_Excel.lvclass (see attachment)
    but the path of the file is located at ...\VIs for <project name>\SupportVIs\data\NI_Excel.lvclass
    In the deployment image, under the target folder, the file is in ...\VIs for <project name>\SupportVIs\data\NI_Excel.lvclass
    and the lvproj finds the file.
    The lvproj in the installation finds the file in ...\VIs for <project name>\SupportVIs\data\NI_Excel.lvclass
    Renaming the folder from data to Excel fixes this problem.
    Has anyone else run into this problem?

    I am facing the same issue when I create the TS deployment through utility using TS2012.I thought of adding the file to the Teststand workspace and give the destination in to supportVIs directory.But even tthat didn't worked as it was copying all excel vis in to two locations.
    Even adding the Directory path in to TS search directory options  to "\data folder"  is not resolving the issue and LAbVIEW Vis are not able to locate it.

  • Weather displaying incorrect location?

    Other than the compass, and reception issues, I've also had this nagging problem of my Weather Location. And it's really weird too. I work about an hour away from my home. When I'm at work, it shows my Home Location weather, at home, it'll show my work location weather.
    My wife went to out of town for a week, came back, and the weather location stayed in the town she was in for 4 days.
    It didn't matter how many times we refreshed it, tried turning on all the location GPS's, Wi-Fi, everything, and it never updates with our current location.
    Anyone else having this issue?

    I have read elsewhere that turning on Verizon Location Services will help with this.  The problem normally occurs inside where GPS may not get a clean lock and what turning on Verizon Location Services does is use tower assist to spot your location.  Try it and see if that works.

  • Google Map Marker Pin at Incorrect Location

    Hi
    Can anyone help regarding why a Google map marker is located off the coast of Africa when I have included the app item location/address details as being in Queensland, Australia?
    It only comes up when a full search is done, when you click the Get Directions links you're taken to the correct map in Google Maps.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Mary, I had a problem with Perth as well, but it has somehow resolved itself.
    I did see somewhere that it was an issue with the Google postcode database, but I cant remember where or how to resolve it.

  • How do I change incorrect locations in Photo Stream and Map?

    Have updated to iOS 7 and some photos, taken on the same day, and in the same location are said to be in another town. Clicking on the area name in Moments brings up a map, and the photos are shown in two different areas, three hours apart! Can I correct the title and/or map? Weird, and frustrating.........

    Hi,
    The location shown on the map is derived from the photo's metadata. There are apps out there that let you manually modify it.

  • Incorrect location identified by all Apps

    Since last 3 days (even before the 2.1 upgrade) my iPhone's location based Apps and Google MAps have started behaving strangely. I am located in Albany, NY and my iPhone shows my previous address of Cincinnati, OH as my current location in all the applications. However, I bought this phone after moving to Albany, NY and has already changed my address everywhere including AT&T, but kept the same cellphone number from Cincinnati. The 2.1 upgrade didn't fixed this issue either.
    any ideas..what is happening here...??

    If you are using the same WiFi router you had in CIncinnati, it may be that Skyhook Wireless has mapped your router at your old address.

  • Toolbar button at incorrect location

    Hi I'm trying to put a button on a toolbar in my Iphone App but for some reason the button is placed incorrect. It is fully top-left aligned with the toolbar. If I press the button the first time, it is placed correct (at left margin and middle of the toolbar). Anyone knows how this can happen. I'm using the following code to create the toolbar and button.
    UIToolbar *toolBar = [ [ UIToolbar alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(8, 416, 304, 44) ];
    toolbarStart = [ [ UIBarButtonItem alloc ] initWithTitle:@"Start" style:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect target:self action:@selector(startMeter:) ];
    toolbarStart.width = 80.0;
    [ toolBar setItems:[ NSArray arrayWithObjects:toolbarStart, nil ] ];
    [ self addSubview:toolBar ];
    [ toolBar release ];

    I tested your code on iPhone OS 2.1 (simulator and device) in both portrait and landscape, with this method:
    - (void)makeToolBar {
    // UIToolbar *toolBar = [[UIToolbar alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 416, 320, 44)]; // normal bottom toolbar frame
    UIToolbar *toolBar = [[UIToolbar alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(8, 416, 304, 44)];
    // toolBar.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleTopMargin; // only needed for landscape
    toolbarStart = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:@"Start" style:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect target:self action:@selector(startMeter:)];
    toolbarStart.width = 80.0;
    [toolBar setItems:[NSArray arrayWithObjects:toolbarStart, nil]];
    [self addSubview:toolBar];
    self.myToolBar = toolBar;
    self.toolbarStart = toolbarStart;
    [toolbarStart release];
    [myToolBar release];
    The above method was a member of a custom view class rather than a view controller to use [self addSubview:toolBar]. The method was called by the controller in viewDidLoad.
    I was unable to reproduce the behavior you described in any of my tests. Are you testing on 3.0? Where is your code called? Note that view setup methods like this shouldn't be called from an init method. I called my code from initWithCoder (no toolbar appeared), but didn't try initWithFrame.

  • Apple I-Phone 4s Incorrect Location ???

    Hi, I currently upgraded my I-phone 4 to the New apple I-phone 4s and after 3 days I'm experiencing issues with the location services on the phone.
    I looked at the phone this morning and I was in the correct timezone and my location was perfect the next instance maybe 20 minutes later I'd gone from london to stockholm ? I then put the phone on charge and came back an hour later and I was back in london timezone correct, Is there a solution to this as its rather annoying

    I see the same thing. I live on Arran and when I'm outside the 4S has me located perfectly. If I go in the house, I am magically transported to the borders, 60 miles away!
    I beleive it is to do with the 4S using radio mast data to locate you if the GPS signal is lost or poor, my stongest one seems to be across the water in Dumfries :-)

  • Incorrect Location Displayed

    Took some photos on my iPhone.  In the photos app on my phone they are displayed in the correct location - i.e. Manchester.  Once imported into the photos app on my Mac the location is changed - and now they appear in the middle of the North Sea some hundred odd miles away from where they were taken.  What's going on - anyone else see this?
