Incorrect pdf dimension shown in Bridge CS3

I didn't see that this problem has been posted previously, but the dimensions shown for pdf documents in Bridge are much smaller than the actual document dimensions. It would be nice if I could confirm the page dimensions without opening a pdf in Acrobat, but that's not possible when Bridge reports page dimensions like 2.6" x 3.5" for an 8.5" x 11" page size pdf document.

I'm also looking for an answer to this one. It's been bugging me for over a year now. Does anyone have any clues at to how to get Bridge to display the correct dimensions for PDF files? It would be even better if it would display the dimensions of the TrimBox as a separate option too - although I'd just be happy with anything that worked at this stage!

  • Bridge CS3 Version Cue Folder ICONS Incorrect (Windows 7)

    Hello,
After updating to Windows 7 Premium 64-bit, the folder icons that appear in Bridge CS3 when browsing a Version Cue Server appear as little hard-drives with a windows icon. (We use Bridge CS3 to avoid using the notorious "Adobe Drive CS4".)
We could live with these new icons and pretend that they're folders, but does anyone know of a hack or the registry location to flip these icons back to a folder icon?
    Thanks,
    JP

    Hi Curt,
I just tried it and it didn't work. My issue isn't with the Adobe icons or thumbnails of the actual files, just with the icons that are shown for the sub-folders.
    thanks,
    JP

  • Can a PDF of an Indesign doc be created from Bridge CS3

Can a PDF of an Indesign doc be created from Bridge CS3 without opening the Indesign file; and retain version cue version info as you would "page information", using an "Adobe PDF Preset" ?

    Hi Willi:
Thanks for your prompt response.  Do you know if there are any scripts that can do this or at least help automate some of this process?
    Thanks!

  • Bridge CS3 contactsheets

I received a pile of 93 images from a client which I want put into an InDesign contactsheet. Apart from the filename and filesize I also want to have the dimensions shown (in either inches or millimeters) in the caption.
Both the "metadata[exif:PixelXDimension]" and "metadata[tiff:ImageWidth]" tags only show the number of pixels. Any way to resolve this?
    Additional info:
all images are RGB TIFF, uncompressed at 72 dpi.
    Cheers in advance!
    Remco

Bridge should be at 2.1.1.9 if you're in CS3 (not
    2.1.1).
Try holding down the Option key as you launch Bridge, and check the boxes in the ensuing dialog box.

  • Some workstations not allowing Adobe Bridge CS3 application launch

    Hi all.
I'm pretty new at helping manage a MIDI/art lab at a high school campus (not new to Macs, but new to this issue).
We have a student login for an art class where students should have complete access to the Adobe CS3 suite of applications. The account is logging in on a server, running apps on the local hard drives, and an entire class of students all log in at once. We've tried to keep all the iMacs current in terms of Adobe updates and other software updates.
The problem is this: there are four iMacs which - in spite of all updates being equal, and the fact that all users are logging into a network account (thus all having the same set of rules, permissions, and restrictions) - fail to allow students to use Adobe Bridge. At these four stations, launching Bridge gets this error:
    +*The Application "Bridge CS3" is not allowed.*+
+"Bridge CS3"is not on the approved list of applications. Contact the person who set up your account for more information.+
We've tried several things, including running Adobe updater (again), Apple software update, and resetting/trashing Bridge's prefs.
Again, every user should be experiencing the same permissions and restrictions, and this issue seems to be tied to hardware as it only applies on four of the iMacs. Logging in as an administrator or a local account with full permission allows clear access to Bridge. However, we need the Art Class account to work on all our stations as students use Bridge regularly for class.
Any input and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
(By the way, these are Intel iMacs running, I would presume, Snow Leopard. The model and OS info shown below are my machine, not the lab stations.)

Curt Y. Thank you for your answer.
It was only Bridge who was crashing. It failed to load and Windows was giving an error message.
I tried your suggestion, and resetting all options in the reset window it now loads. It was as simple as that.

  • Bridge CS3 not writing metadata to JPEG files

For the last couple of months (without my noticing until a couple days ago) all JPEG files that I have edited using Bridge CS3 (on Windows XP) do not have the metadata built into the file. Here are the symptoms: use "File Info" to edit the metadata for a JPEG file (i.e. add a title, description, copyright info, etc.), all appears normal, but if you do any of the following, the metadata you entered disappears:
    - duplicate (the metadata does not exist in the duplicate file)
    - move or copy to another folder
    - open in Photoshop or any other software that can read metadata (File Info shows none of the metadata you entered)
    - rebuild the cache for the folder
Strangely, the metadata still appears with the file when you look at it in Bridge as long as you don't do any of the above.
This is really awful as I've put a lot of time into entering this metadata for hundreds of files. Older files (pre-Nov 08) don't have this problem and the metadata is "sticky" and doesn't get deleted. So, somehow my Bridge CS3 got corrupted along the way.
Has anyone experienced this and more importantly -- do you have a solution? I've tried reseting all Bridge settings (but that of course purged the cache and deleted all my metadata.)

    Hey,
There are various date/time fields shown in properties panel in Organizer. The dates mentioned in general section are read from OS whereas the dates in EXIF field are read from image's EXIF data. In EXIF data there are three date/time fields-
    1. Date time- This date/time info shows date modified of EXIF properties. So when you are writing a tag into imags's IPTC, you are doing some change in EXIF data. Hence this date should change to date when you are writing a tag into IPTC.
    2. Date time original - Represents date time when a image was shoot.
    3. Date digitized - Represents the date when the image was digitized (in digital camers there is hardly some delay between an image is shoot and it is digitized. So this field is always same as date original).
So, in your scenario, Date time in EXIF should change whenever you are writing any tag into its IPTC.
Please let me know if you need more info on it.

  • Bridge CS3 crash

One of my Macs (G5 Power Mac, 10.4.11, CS3) crashes when browsing certain folders on my Xserve (2009 Xserve, 10.5 Server, Nehalem proc, AFP connections, active directory). One consistency is that it always crashes when browsing to folders containing EPS files, sometimes PDF or TIF files as well.
It looks like the error related to Classes being implemented in multiple locations could be at fault. I may try disabling them in one location to see if it works.

  • Displaying dates in Bridge CS3

Bridge CS3 seems to display dates differently according to the type of RAW file. For example the dates for my CRW files are displayed as Month + Year (e.g. March 2009), while dates for my CS2 files are displayed as Day Number + Month (e.g. 10 March). Is there any way that the format of dates can be changed so they are consistent? I would prefer Month + Year as that is more useful to me.

Thanks Curt. The date format in Metadata for all my images is the same - DD/MM/YYYY, so it seems to be a problem with the display. Looking more closely at the images where the date is displayed as Day Number + Month, they are ones taken on 1st January 2009 and 2nd February 2009, where the date in Metadata is shown as 01/01/2009 and 02/02/2009. In other words the day and month numbers are the same. I wonder if this is the source of the problem, or is it just a coincidence? Unfortunately I haven't got any photos dated the 3rd March so I'll have to wait until 4th April to test it further. In the meantime I'll go through my images to see if I have any more where the date is displayed as Day Number + Month and see if the day and month numbers are the same.

  • PDF dimensions metadata still hopeless in CS6

This has been a particular bugbear of mine and it seems CS6 is no better.
The Dimensions attribute on the Metadata panel gives you nothing useful when you're looking at PDFs. It WILL show some dimensions but I'm picking what it is showing is the JPEG preview dimensions, not the actual PDFs print dimensions. What use is that?
Would it be too hard to put in useful print dimensions, eg. the dimensions of the Cropbox, and especially the Trimbox (as in the Set Page Boxes panel in Acrobat X Pro), so that the Bridge metadata actually gives you USEFUL information?
Why should I have to open a PDF to find out its actual print dimensions, when there is a Dimensions attribute in Bridge? I should be able to click on a thumbnail and Bridge will tell me whether it's A4 or A1, etc.
    Cheers

  • Bridge CS3 JavaScript Reference Guide?

Approximately two years ago I downloaded the Bridge JavaScript Reference Guide for CS2 as a PDF file (3.5 MB) from Adobe's website. Now I am looking for the respective scripting reference for Bridge CS3---but I cannot find one. I found several User Manuals and Reference Guides for Photoshop CS3, Version Cue CS3 Client and Server and the like ... but no scripting reference for Bridge CS3.
Obviously the old scripting reference for Bridge 1.0 still is useful ... but there sure are a few changes/improvements/extensions, aren't there? Does someone have an ides where to find Bridge CS3's scripting reference?

    Olaf,

  • How to embed my name within multiple image's EXIF data at once-Bridge CS3

I've been trying to figure out how to do this for some time and just can't understand how to get my images both Raw and JPEGs to show my name in the EXIF copyright or author entry when entering it in the "File Info" dialog box so it shows up viewing EXIF data using EXIF Viewer or within Bridge CS3.
Can I get some help on this? Point me to a tutorial or something?
I've already read Bridge Help and it's worded in such a way that isn't very clear to me on how to do this.
Thank you for your help on this.

Let me see if I understand this correctly. That "Digital Workflow 1" pdf told me to uncheck all IPTC boxes which is opposite what you just said.
You are free to create the workflow that suits you, check or uncheck IPTC in Bridge prefs is only a way to organize the view in the metadata panel, not adding or deleting info from it.
So I'm suppose to enter my name in the IPTC Contact-"Creator" entry section within the "File Info" dialog box of a selected image/images within Bridge CS3 and check the IPTC boxes in the Metadata section of Bridge's Preferences dialog box to turn them on so my name I entered as "Creator" in "File Info"/IPTC can be seen in the Metadata placard Bridge work space interface but does NOT guarantee my name will be EMBEDED IN THE EXIF of the selected image/images?
As above, all info you add to IPTC and apply to an image is embedded in the exif and xmp data of that file, no matter if the boxes are checked or unchecked for visibility in metadata panel.
IOW checking the IPTC boxes in Bridge's Metadata Preferences is just for previewing within Metadata Placard work space interface in Bridge? I'm using Filmstrip view as a Bridge work space BTW.
Yes. And consider an other workspace for metadata, I attach some screenshots from my workspace I crerated myself in Bridge using the prefs and drag and drop with panels. It is from Bridge CS4 and apart from the top pathbar it is basicly the same as CS3.
Filmstrip is very nice for sorting with big preview but not the best for adding metadata. You can create as many workspace as you like and you can easily switch between them (in CS3 use the number buttons bottom right.
To actually embed my name entered as "Creator" in "File Info" IPTC section in a selected image/image's EXIF data I have to apply a custom made template to the image/images already residing on the hard drive and viewed in Bridge OR append the IPTC data within the EXIF of the image/images upon import from camera CF card reader through Bridge's "Get Photos From Camera" drop down menu. Correct?
Yes, I have choosen for the last option because now all my downloaded files have this template in it and I don't have to bother later. No matter if the files are keepers or not. You only have to create a template once. See also a screenshot from the info I filled to the template but it is up to you what you like to appear in there.
Another question, what is the difference between the "Description" section where you can enter "Author" (which would be my name) and the IPTC Contact section where you can enter "Creator" (again, my name) both within "File Info" dialog box?
check this wikipedia info about IPTC:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Press_Telecommunications_Council
Another question, I just selected a batch of images within a folder in Bridge and tried to create a Metadata Template and it shows a blank box with a statement at the bottom "Only checked properties will be added/changed to this template"...and below this "Properties selected: 0". What and where are checked properties? Does that mean I have to check the IPTC boxes in Bridge's Metadata Preferences?
Don't know that. You should first create a template without selecting multiple files. After you saved this template select the files you want to change and click on the append template option.
I have to wonder how and why another photographer would need all this nested clutter to accommodate alternate workflows on something as simple as input/output processing on a batch of images. It's beyond my understanding. This just seems way too complicated to have to sort out. Just my opinion.
Nothing is ever that simple as it seems....

I recently completely removed, deactivated and reinstalled all my Adobe Creative Suite CS3 Master Collection to solve some problems with other application from the suite and now I'm surprise Bridge continues to fail. In my portable workstation the same software (Bridge) uses to work.
I tried launching Bridge under several compatibility modes. All failed.
Is there any know bug I should be aware of? Any fix?

  • Bridge CS3 Workspace Adobe Lightroom Web Gallery Creator

A while back I was looking around for an easy way to create sharp looking image galleries with minimal work, and I came across a workspace plug in for Bridge Cs3. If I remember correctly, it was labeled Adobe Lightroom Web Gallery something or another. Anyway, I recently formatted my computer and reinstalled everything, but for the life of me I can find no trace of that handy workspace plug in. Does anyone know where I can find it? It had a bunch of customizable flash galleries as well as a customizable html gallery as well. Any help would be appreciated!

Do you mean AMG( Adobe Media Gallery)? You could download from LAB.
