Incorrect Search Results in Acrobat Reader 9.2.0

Anybody ever see this? I'm searching for a word in my pdf, in this case the word "sport". When I click for the results the reader can't find the word, but instead it takes me to other words that are not even close to "sport" like "descision", or a number, even a hyphen ( - ). At first I though it was a problem with the PDF but every other computer in my office can search the same PDF with no problems; when you search for "sport" it takes you to the first instance of "sport". I've uninstalled adobe reader and reinstalled with the latest version, but i still have the same problem. What is happening here?

Good morning,
I have exactly the same problem. I use Acrobat Reader 9.4.0 and when I search for a word it takes me to other words or symbols that are not related to the word at all.
Nonetheless, when I perform a search with Adobe Standard 6.0 on the same document the search works OK.
Is adobe working to correct this huge problem?

  • Search Server 2010 Express: Open a PDF document from list of search results invokes adobe reader client application with error

    Hi community,
I set up search server 2010 express on a windows 2008 r2 server.
The Adobe PDF iFilter 9 64 bit is installed and search is correctly configured to find PDF-files.
When doing a search and clicking on a link of the result page, the PDF is not opened in the browser, instead the adobe reader XI client application (11.0.04) is invoked and an error raised like "could not open document .. check syntax of url..."
Right click on a link to open in new tab works fine. And PDF-Files from other arbitrary Internet Sites opens in browser correctly. Moreover when configure Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 as default application on the client it also open in Browser correctly.
I noticed googling the web there are several challenges when dealing with PDF-files in sharepoint. The following settings are made so far:
    1. In IE: Add-On to open PDF in Browser is enabled for all sites.
    2. Client Integration is enabled
    3. The OpenControl attribute in the DOCICON.xml is left empty OpenControl="" for the pdf entry.
    4. The Browser File Handling is set to "Permissive".
Please feel free to ask for more information if needed.
I appreciate any help on this. I don't know what to do further.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the reply.
Before responding to your points I want to give a little more context:
We have an intranet based on pure html and a little aspx containing many of those pdf- files. By clicking on the links in the intranet the files open correctly in browser handled by the adobe plugin. Now we set up this search server crawling the file system
accessed through a share to the root folder of the intranet. In the search server settings a host mapping rule is applied to replace the file://[share] with http://[intranet host+domain+port] to access files over http.
And now to answer your question. The resulting urls are the same, copying the link from intranet and copying the link from the search result (except some case issues).
The event viewer not seem to show any errors on this, though I'm not very familiar using it.
If any further information are from interest and any ideas come to your mind - please let me know.
    Thanks.

  • Incorrect Search results number

    Hi!
I'm currently working at search center and recently I've noticed that the number of search results in "About xx results" can vary a a lot.
I've found the similar question here: http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/154/t/204676.aspx - the given answer seemed good untill I tried to check the logic and to calculate results count in my test environment.
So, I have 45 total results. One of this results has duplicate. The results are shown by 10 per page. The duplicated results is shown at the first page. If I click on the next pages, I see the following (Im sorry for this clip2net logo, this is not an advertising:)
     about 41
     about 43
    about 44
     44 results total
I can't get, why it shows 41 and even 43 on the first 2 pages, while there is only 1 duplicate that might be hidden...
Please help me to understand this logic.
Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Martynenko,
I understand that the results count is incorrect in SharePoint Search Results web part.
It is by design that the number on search result web part is a very rough number related to the mechanism within search engine.
It is not accurate because the accurate count of the
search result is not the main target for
    search engine.
If we need the accurate number of some specific type of files, we can use the
SharePoint search APIs to get the
search result, and this is same as the result from web part.
    http://spbreed.wordpress.com/2013/09/14/sharepoint-2013-solution-to-inconsistent-search-results-count/
Or you can set the query to include the duplicates.
    Best regards.

  • Incorrect Search Results

We have a PDF file of 1 page created through SAP (ERP Application). The PDF has a name "AD" which is displayed and printed. When we search the PDF using search option for name "ZZ", it gives the search results by selecting name "AD". Also, the PDF is sent to Blackberry device of "AD" with details of "ZZ".
This is similar to mirror image but I have no idea as to how to view this.

  • Incorrect search results in CRM2007

    Hi
When i search for service contracts in the new UI, i specify the search criteria - status 'In Process'
However the search result displays the contracts which have status In process, completed etc.
Has anyone come across this issue and knows how to solve this ?
Any helpful answers will be rewarded

    Nick,
I have come across a similar thing in CRM 5.0 where the Agent Inbox ignored the Status.  It was an error in the status mapping configuration.  I also know that in CRM 5.0 the Inbox search logic was applied to the Account Overview to generate the results.
It's a long shot, but it may well be that the specific searches in CRM 2007 use the Agent Inbox search logic, and that you need to maintain the status mapping for the Agent Inbox to correct this issue.
This is available here (transaction SPRO, IMG):
SAP Implementation Guide > Customer Relationship Management > Interaction Center WebClient > Agent Inbox > Map Item Attributes to Inbox Attributes > Map Element Status to Inbox Status
    Hope this helps, thanks!

  • Trouble with the advanced search function on acrobat reader. Why won't it open? it used to, but suddenly stopped working.

For some inexplicable reason the advanced search option in my acrobat reader 11.0.3 has stopped working. It worked just fine a few weeks ago. I am running Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro. When I open advanced reader the pdf file I am trying to search ceases to be the active window. But no other window exists (in 'window' search is checked, but there is nothing there!). Does anyone have any ideas. I have downloaded and re-installed reader twice, and removed all earlier versions (I think). This is kind of urgent!

It's a 3rd party app.  You really should contact Adobe Support and/or post in the Adobe Forums
    Mac OS X (10.6.6)
Use Software Update or the OS 10.6.8 combo update to update your OS.  Also, update everything SU has to offer for your computer.  When done, repair permissions and restart your computer.

  • Incorrect Search results in MM03 transaction code

    Hi,
We have a material description as follows
    CLOS-ScrwCap Multi Laun 33mmPPLndDGTOrg
When we try to do material search in MM03 with
I : Material by material Type
    Material Type : VERP
    Material Description : crwapultiaunmmnd*rg
We are getting the materials using the match code. Here we used only lower case letters of material description.
II : Material by MRP Type
    Material Type : VERP
    Material Description : closscrw
The result is No Values for the selection
Here we have used closscrw but does not work.
Can anyone please provide solution for why it is not working in search by MRP Type? Are there any SAP notes available for this issue?
    Regards,
    S.Sankar

    Hi,
In your first example 9the one that is working, you are using lower case characters and searching and finding the same characters in lower case.
In the second example the search includes some characters that are in upper case on the material description.
It is possible to configure the search functions to ignore case.
I will have a dig around and find the exact option you need .

  • Printing Search results

    Hello,
is it possible to print only those pages brought up by a search with a single print command?
    e. g.: A 300 pages document, the search for "Paris" brings up 80 hits on 75 pages.
Can I print those 75 pages with a single command or do I have to jump from page to page and print the actual page of every result?
    Thanks for help –

  • Acrobat/Reader cannot cope with internal Webserver connectivity problems, leading to comments being hidden/deleted. Any thoughts?

Adobe Acrobat/Reader do not cope with interruptions to access to the internal WebServer hosting the PDF/XML review files.
    Steps to reproduce the issue:
Connection is lost to the WebServer hosting the PDF review files.
After connection to the WebServer is regained, access to the PDF review files is blocked by Adobe Acrobat/Reader.
Sometimes this can be resolved by deleting the entire contents of the folder:
              C:\Users\<user-name>\AppData\LocalLow\Adobe\Acrobat\11.0\Synchronizer
    NOTES:
We have experienced this behaviour especially when connecting to the WebServer via VPN. I reckon the connectivity issues could be initially our problem, that Acrobat/Reader simply do not handle.
Clearing the contents of the Synchronizer folder does not always work.
Team members have also seen situations where significant numbers of review comments or status values have been not been displayed, but exist in the XML review files. In some cases comments/status values have been automatically deleted without warning from the Adobe review XML files.
PDF reviews are sent out via email as links to the PDF review file hosted on an internal WebServer.
Writers and reviewers in the team either have either:
Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.08 with Reader 11.0.08
Acrobat XI Pro 9.5.5 with Reader 11.0.08
I have personally experienced the above behaviour with Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.08 and Reader 11.0.08.
Could this experience be connected the Synchronizer (http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/known-issues-acrobat-xi-reader.html )?
For example, where a reviewer uses a different version of Acrobat/Reader?
Could anyone please provide a list of compatible versions of Acrobat/Reader?
    Expected results:
Adobe Acrobat/Reader should really handle connection issues with a warning and later check for recovered connections.
However, what appears to be happening is that Acrobat/Reader writes some sort of blocking code to the Synchronizer folder that prevents future checks of the PDF review files on the review WebServer.
As far as I understand, the connection issues are not caused by Adobe software, however the problems we are experiencing relate to how Adobe Acrobat/Reader handle this loss of connection.
    Plea for Help!
I have checked and the experience of missing comments and persistent "connectivity issues" seems to be a reported but sadly outstanding issue...
This has been an ongoing headache for some time, so solutions would be great, but any thoughts or suggestions are welcome...?
For example, has anyone using SharePoint to host PDF reviews experienced anything similar?
    Many thanks!

Adobe Acrobat 11.0.09 with Microsoft SharePoint Repository Trial Update
We've completed week one of a three week trial (see above) that will go on until Friday 24th October.
We currently have just four PDF files out for review that make use of the SharePoint repository.
    To-date:
Each review file has had multiple concurrent reviewers posting comments over several days from both over the office LAN and also via VPN when working remotely.
Dynamic stamps seem to be working as hoped and are all visible.
We have not experienced any connection-type issues and the we have not had reason to clear out the Synchronizer folder as described above.
    Counter balance:
I have experienced the situation with a remote VPN connection, where Adobe Acrobat could not connect to our internal WebServer repository. At the same time, I was able to connect to PDF review files hosted in SharePoint.
    Summary:
The experience so far does suggest that problems are caused by the an inconsistent connection to the WebServer repository (especially over VPN) combined with Adobe Acrobat/Reader's inability to cope with the resulting situation.
At the moment I must say that while it is early days, I am hopeful that the combination of SharePoint as the repository and the update to Adobe Acrobat/Reader 11.0.09 will continue to prove to be reliable.
I'll provide an update to this post on Friday 24th October...
    Here's hoping!

  • Adobe Reader for mobile search result is INCORRECT.

Adobe Reader for mobile search result is INCORRECT. It is inconsistent with the search results from other PDF reader apps.
I have a spreadsheet file converted into a PDF. Doing a search on the document using a Adobe Reader on a PC shows 14 search results. Opening the same document on the Google Drive app also shows 14 search results. But when opening the same file to the Adobe Reader for Android, it only shows two results. (See screenshots (left/first is from Adobe Reader for Android)).
My device is an Xperia Z2 with Android 4.4.4.

    Hello Mehwish,
It seems that Adobe Reader for mobile has issues only to this file. I have not thoroughly tested it with other PDF files though, but just this 1 out of the 5 files I have tried had issues. Attached herewith is the file I used the search with. Sent a copy to your email [email protected] too.
Note that the file was made from a spreadsheet in a PC and then saved as PDF from the same spreadsheet application.

  • Show page correct - store search results incorrect

    Hi. I submitted my feed:
    http://www.tomrbaynham.com/feed/podcast/
    Received the iTunes show page:
    http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=337486702
The show page has the correct details - Podcast image, "The Investigative Author" and description etc.
When I search for my show in iTunes, the search results display the old information when I initially submitted the feed: Default Wordpress image, original blog title "The First Time Author". If I select the show, it shows the page with the correct, updated information.
How can I get the search page to update? It seems bizzare that the search is incorrect when the actual show page is up-to-date.
    Any help is much appreciated!

I'm afraid I can't answer that - I'm not privy to the exact method by which the various parts of the Store work. If you feed is behaving entirely correctly in the Store page then there isn't anything you can do except wait and hope it will eventually correct itself: you could ask Support -
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/podcast/
but I'm afraid you will probably only get a form answer which likely won't address the problem.

  • Search results showing incorrect modified date

    Hi All,
I have a one difficulty in search results.
Document showing incorrect modified date in search results. And this happens for one document only.
We have customized the search/results.aspx page, Our document is showing correct modified date in document properties,All Items.aspx like 31/4/2013.
But when i search with document name in search, result showing incorrect modified date like 24/6/2004.
I checked with database in SQL, every thing is fine.
I have updated the Modified date through powershell script for one document and after that this recent modified date is showing in search results.
But after updating the Modified date through powershell, issued document not showing the recent modified date in search results. still showing as 24/6/2004.
I should not do edit property and save, to create new version.
I don't know what is happening in search crawl. All ready full crawl running daily basis.
I want to check whether this issued document is crawling or not. Could anybody help me to get out of this. what is the main cause of this issue.
    Thanks & Regards
    MD.Liakath ali

    Hi,
I'm seeing the same issue after upgrading the SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013.
When I search any upgraded document in SharePoint 2013, the document's "Last Modified Date" was showing an incorrect value in Search Results page but other metadata of document like "Last Modified User" is showing the correct
value so the problem is not with document crawl, something wrong with Last Modified Date property in Search results.
I have seen below comment as answer but I didn't understand the solution to fix this issue for all upgraded documents.
The most likely cause is that there is metadata on the documents that is set to that date which is overriding the other dates in the search result. SharePoint isn't particulary imaginative so it's got to be finding that date from somewhere.
Do we have any solution for this issue? Is this issue will be addressed in SharePoint 2013 SP1?
Note: No issues with documents, which uploaded after upgrade.

  • When I click on a yahoo news story, about 30 seconds into reading it, the page changes to one that says the page I requested can't be found, and it has a list of search results.

I just upgraded to firefox 4 this morning. My homepage is yahoo.com. Sometimes when I click a news story, about 30 seconds into reading it, the page changes to a search result page with the heading that the page I requested can't be found. If I click the back button, it goes back to the page I was on. It doesn't happen on every one, and I haven't seen a pattern to which sites it happens on. It also happened when I was trying to make a payment on ebay.

To revert to Google as your preferred search engine, please do the following.<br><br>
    * In the location bar, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter.<br><br>
    * In the filter at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''<br><br>
    * Double click it and remove whatever's in there (probably Yahoo) and replace it with http://www.google.com/search?q=<br>
The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "Copy Link Location" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.
'''To reset your home page, do the following'''.<br><br>
    * Go to the site you want to set as your homepage.<br><br>
    * Click the orange Firefox button and go to '''Options '''| '''Options '''| '''General'''.<br><br>
    * Make sure it says "''Show My Homepage''" in the first dropdown menu.<br><br>
    * Click the button called "'''Use Current Pages'''" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.<br>

  • People Search results links are incorrect?

    Hello Everyone,
Just setup People Search on SP2013 SP1 (July 2014 CU).  I have not used it in the past.
I am finding that after I search for a staff member the results show fine.  However if I click on the user link to go to their MySite page I get the "Sorry, something went wrong" page with "User not found".
When comparing the URLs I see this difference:
    Url from search result -
    https://.../Person.aspx?accountname=DOMAIN%255Cusername
Url to the users MySite -
    https://.../Person.aspx?accountname=DOAMIN%5Cusername
It appears is adding a 25 in the url preventing the "\"?
Can anyone confirm if this is a bug in SharePoint 2013 SP1 (July 2014 CU)?
I came across these articles which leads to think so.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/17005728-3e68-49f5-8882-85cc8260e53b/people-search-error?forum=sharepointgeneral

Yeah, that's a known issue caused by the MS14-022 security patch.
It is hoped that it's in the September CU according to Stefan's comment in the link below:

    Thanks

    Thanks for your help,
I have created both the pages again, one is a search.php another is result.php
search.php is only used for accepting a text field which is the input of the search in database table on click of the button, and the result of the search is to be displayed in a dynamic table in result.php.
The result field again uses a GET variable named 'Class Name', from the form field in search.php. But again, my result Page displays blank except the column names of the table. Please advice.
