Increase graphics memory

Is there any way to increase the graphics memory of my MBP 13" 2012.????

It seems that increasing the RAM in a 13" MBP will increase the RAM allocated for graphics;  Look at this discussion:

  • Increase Graphics Memory 224MB?

I was hoping someone could tell me how to increase the amount of graphics ram the s10 has access to 224MB. I figured out that after I added 2 GB of ram and selected default in the bios Windows XP will see 128MB of graphics memory. But according to intel's website the Express Family Chipset should be able to see 224MB of graphics memory.
    Cheers,

Hi, the dedicated memory is not under user control, it depends on the system you use..
the graphic-controller grabs his variable memory from 8MB up to 256MB
XP takes for the graphics 128MB,
     Vista and Windows 7  256MB ...
     Osx i think 256MB too..
Linux i dont know yet but i think 128MB
    best regards KK

  • Z97A Gaming 9 - Increase graphics memory

So the title says it all- I'm looking to increase my graphics memory.
From what I've been able to see online, the recommendation is going into BIOS setup by F12, or F10 or.....whatever.
But none will take me where I need to go.
From what it SEEMS like, I should be able to change it from the MSI MB settings but can't seem to find where.
    Would love some help.
    Thanks.

hit Delete when your computer starts to get into BIOS not F10 or F12!
one question are you using the IGPU or a Graphics card?
    If its IGPU
    go to:
    settings
    Advanced
    Intigrated Graphics Settings
    Integrated Graphics Share Memory
and use +/- on your Number pad to change the value if it doesnt have a menu!

  • Increasing graphics memory

Is, or, will there be any option to increase the amount of shared memory used for the graphics from 64 to 128?

    Not right now
Even on intel web sites it clearly stated that intel GMA 950 can use up to 224 Mb of shared memory, apple lock it down to 64, because they shipped MacBook with only 512 Mb.
Even for 512 Mb installed, the MacBook and the OS is kinda have need for more memory, could you imagine if apple unlock it, there will be more issue posted in this forum regarding system freeze because unsufficient memory (50% used by graphic card).
Maybe they will release the unlock or third party programmer or intel will do, but use it with precaution that atleast 1 Gb is installed in your MacBook.

  • I've not found the option to increase shared memory of intel hd graphics card in BIOS

Hi! I don't find that option. I have the 2.08 version, but the 3.01 is out there. The graphics performance is not very well now. Is there a way to increase this memory to 256 mb or more? Thanks in advance

    hi freinn,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
This is on Auto by default.
The amount of memory shared to your graphics is dependent on how much RAM you have. Also even if you max out the RAM capacity there will no big jump on the shared memory just few MBs will be added
The Manual is not available even if there is an updated BIOS.
Even if a Manual option is available still you can only share the same maximum as the one on Auto. Not a big jump.
i hate to say it but that's how it will be
    Hope this helps
    Cheers!

  • How to increase dedicated graphics memory on X120e?

    Hi,
I have 8 gigs of ram sitting in my laptop and was wondering if there's a way to increase the dedicated graphics memory from 384(?)mb to say, 500mb? I cannot find any option to increase the video graphics memory in the bios.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

I was about to say it's probably different RAM speeds between the two sticks, but you bought two brand new 4GB sticks in a single kit, right? Hmm, that is puzzling.
Here's a theory: Turn off Virtual Memory (the Page File). (Google to find out how.)
Windows 7 uses some hard drive space as virtual RAM, writing and deleting to it. In practice, it doubles the amount of RAM the computer can "see" and use, guarding against actually using up the RAM and crashing programs. But the size of the virtual RAM can vary, and Windows might have increased the size of the virtual RAM when you doubled your physical RAM. Therefore, Windows could be actually using the hard drive as RAM more than it's using your 8GB of real RAM.
No matter how much RAM you have, it's a good shortcut to disable Virtual Memory/Page File. It seems to make everything a hair snappier.
Battery life will take a hit no matter what, because the second stick draws extra power.

  • PDF file size limited to graphics memory in Reader?

I've created a form (in LiveCycleDS) that allows for an unlimited number of photos to be loaded into it. I put an image into a subform that is duplicated every time a user clicks a button thus creating an unlimited number of images that can hold photos. I then extended it with Reader Extensions.
I'm running into a problem when I try to load a large number of photos into the form.  It gets to about 47MB of images when it locks-up Adobe reader.  I've been able to bring up other applications after the lock-up and when I switch back to Reader the artifacts of the other application are then displayed within Reader.
What is the practical limit to the size of a file created with LiveCycle?  Is it tied to the amount of graphics memory a computer has?  My machine has 2GB of RAM while my video card has only 384MB.  I haven't been able to figure out if there is a file size limitation.

It's entirely normal for file size to increase. PDFs are much more compressed than print streams. For some printers the print size is almost constant (a huge bitmap), for others, it's a collection of graphical items and the size varies enormously. Rarely anything you can do.

  • Increasing video memory from the A40-211

    Hello all,
I've got the Satellite A40-211. The Intel chipset also takes care for all the graphic stuff, so it needs a little bit RAM memory as video memory. This is possible up to a maximum of 64MB. The problem is that the chipset now uses a maximum of 16mb as video memory, but I want to increase this to 64MB.
Where can I find the settings for this in Windows Xp Home?
    Thanks for all the help!
    Bart

Hi, its not possible to increase the video memory yourself !
Let me say that your Notebook has an dynamic Memory Management
Your Computer System reserved only so much Graphic Memory as he needs, to accomplish all tasks running on your A40.
...this Dynamic Video Sharing is not bad, as I think !
More Infos about your Graphic Chip youll find on the pages of Intel.
    nice evening...

  • 9400 Graphics Memory Allocation

For the GeForce 9400M chip is it possible to increase the graphics memory allocation if I were to upgrade the system memory?
In other words: Does the GeForce 9400M chip and Mac OS Leopard+ support dynamic memory allocation for the graphics memory?
If I increase the system RAM from 2GB to 4GB will the 9400 graphics memory allocation increase from 256MB to 512MB?
(The Intel graphics chipset supported it)

No. The 9400 uses 256 MBs of RAM, no more.

  • X200 4500MHD Graphics Memory

Is there anyway to increase the memory on the video card in the X200's 4500MHD graphics?  I tried looking for something in BIOS but I couldn't find anything.  According to device manager, it's only using 32MB.  I have 4GB so I'd like to allocate at least 512MB.

there is no real way of doing this, as the video memory allocation is arranged by the software. But under 3D settings of the Intel display tray, you can increase the memory footprint from normal to high. Also, with the integrated graphics card more vram won't improve your graphics performance. This is akin to putting a bigger wheel to a stock standard toyota corolla, in hope to gain faster performance.

  • Dedicated Graphics Memory

    Hi there,
My current dedicated graphics memory is only 512 mb and it barely meets the minnimum requirement for most games. After reviewing a few videos online I leanred that this may be changed throgh the system bios however there is simply no such option in my current BIOS version (I already installed the most recent BIOS update).
So this brings me to my question. Is there any way (perhaps a program or something of that nature) to increase the dedicated graphics memmory or am I stuck with this amount?
(My laptop model is: HP Pavilion dv6-6b47dx)
    Thanks!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I have never heard of anyone being able to change the graphics memory allocation by any means.
If you want to try different things, go ahead and let us know if anything works because hundreds of people have asked this question and hundreds have been disappointed.
If you want to replace the motherboard for a supported one listed in the service manual for your model if available, that may have better graphics, that would be your only option.
I would buy a new notebook before I went that route.

let me tell you a little story from my own experience. i used to work for a PC systems builder a couple of years ago, and we used mostly MSI boards. we also used cheap memory supplied by DaneElec.
now, one particular board started giving us grief when we introduced it. it was the K7N2 Delta, and we had at one point about 12 machines in production all with similar faults, and we didn't seem able to fix it. random blue screens, 3DMark2001 dropping out to desktop with no errors, occasionally no boot at all.
one day i got one of these machines, ripped out the DaneElec memory (various memory chips used on these including Nanya and Infineon) and put in some Corsair memory that our research guys had. guess what? the machine had no problems. tried the same two sticks in the other machines, and they were all fine too.
so i got our buyer to get some Samsung memory (they were more expensive than DaneElec, but cheaper than the Corsair), replaced all the DaneElec memory in the problem machines, and kept the Samsung for all future K7N2 based systems. then a few weeks later, our buyer was reportedly told that DaneElec had "fixed" the problem with their memory, so our buyer bought a load again. grr, still same problems in K7N2 boards, and now playing havoc in the P4 865PE Neo boards
(lol, as an irony, this same cheap DaneElec memory worked much better in our new K8T-based systems, better than the Samsung! - and even more ironic was this PC system builder eventually going bust....)

  • Graphics memory shows 201MB in dxdiag in G50-45 80E300GYIN

Whenever i check my graphics memory, it sets it amounts to 201MB
I can mail you a snapshot of my dxdiag screen, if that helps in helping me finding out what i did wrong

    hi scsanty,
If you have the same G50-45 specs like in this item then the 201MB that you're seing is the video shared memory from the Radeon R4 GPU (this is the integrated graphics on the AMD 6310 APU).
The video memory increases overtime (by borrowing it from the RAM) especially when the system's GPU is being utilized (eg. while using gaphics intensive apps like games) . You can simulate this and observe the graphics memory.

    Nvidia panel displays complete rubbish.
They also count some system memory with the amount of vga memory, which, with dedicated videocards these days, is to no point, since the card will never be able to use it.
Your card has, like Svet already said, 3072MB dedicated videomemory and thats all its gonna utilize, since thats the amount of VRAM on the pcb.
So your buddies with 4+GB VRAM are just showing off stuff they cant use and Nvidia controlpanel shows numbers and amounts of VRAM, you'll never have available, just like that stupid Windows Performance Index shows some numbers about your system that in reallife mean diddlysquad.
Besides, there arent any 580GTX's outthere with more then 3GB VRAM aboard.
Long story short, dont get all hyped up by numbers, you got what you paid for and there's nothing wrong with your amount of memory on that card.
    Edit:
With my system Nvidia says I got 3071MB of video-memory available, but 1280MB is dedicated, dedicated being the true amount the card wil ever use, since my card has only 1280MB and not 3071MB.
Like I said they count some system-memory with it, although the card will never ever be able to use it, its just to screw people over.

  • LENOVO 3000 N200 LAPTOP graphics memory doesn't exceed 128mb on Windows XP

    i have a lenovo 3000 n200 laptop  model 0769-a58
it is equiped with mobile intel gm 965 chipset " X 3100 "
under windows vista the graphics memory reads up to 384 mb with shader v. 3.0
while when i install windows xp the graphics memory doesn't exceed 128 mb with shader v. 2.0
i already tried the latest graphics drivers from intel.com & the latest bios driver from lenovo.com
i even upgraded the RAM to 3 GB
i would be thankfull if anyone answers my problem

My guess is that it IS a Vista problem, since other devices
work, and you have tried your new devices on a different
    system.
Some one else may have a different solution, but that is
where I would concentrate my troubleshooting.
