Increase in latency due to G.INP

As a avid gamer when my ping increases it doesnt help and on the 14th of this month i noticed a increase when playing games.
Ping to bbc.co.uk used to be in the 20ms range but now its above 30ms.
And ispreview.co.uk seems to verify this
If i have a huawei hg612 modem and my own router is there anyway to tell if im on G.INP without unlocking it?

Comment from http://www.increasebroadbandspeed.co.uk/g.inp
Someone alerted me to this yesterday, and I made a comment.
I’ve not seen this on my line, which is currently excellent with G.INP. No increase in latency, but the connection speed improved from 74 Mbps to 80 Mbps.
Since G.INP was enabled, I’ve not had a single error on either line.
I’m fascinated what the issue is. Perhaps it’s the modem.
Best regards,
dfenceman

  • How to handle latency due Audio/Video live streams.

    Hi everybody reading this,
    I am using fms3.5 and the scenario that i wish to solve is that:
    1) From a flex application client I start publishing a video at x bytes per second.
    2) At the receiver's end, I start getting the video very fine at receiver, with Server to client value around x bytes per seconds (almost).
    3) But as soon as the bandwidth of the receiver dips down, due to slow net connection, then the receiver is unable to take x bytes per second. Hence at the receiver's end,      the server to client value also falls down considerably. and receiver faces latency.
    4) While the receiver is facing latency, the publisher continues to flood the receiver with the x bytes per second data.
    5) The data starts accumulating in some queue over the server.
    6) Now, when the receiver gets its bandwidth back high in some time, suddenly the fms server sends all of the accumulated data to the receiver and it can be seen as an enormous increase in Server to client value towards the receiver.
    Please help me for the following problems:
    1) Can i keep on flushing/removing the accumulated a/v data, so that a user that is already facing latency must not be further flooded? if possible then how?
    2) What is the best way to eradicate latency? Any good alternative so that if people are on a low connection they should not face latency?
    Please help.
    Regards and Thanks,
    Sahil.

  • Increase in CC subscriptions due to Adobe transfer billing

    Why doesn't Adobe warn all Australians paying by Visa that their CC subscriptions will be increased by 3% due to Adobe billing them from Ireland? An automatic "Foreign Transaction Fee" is now applied to all bills coming from abroad, i.e. Ireland in Adobe's case. This has been applied from March in the case of Westpac, but I gather it is common to all Australian banks. I don't know whether this is true elsewhere. It applies even though I am billed in Australian dollars and Adobe (like Google) has an Australian company presence.
    Adobe has refunded me the couple of additional charges so far, but until they provide a different means of payment that does not attract the surcharge, they should at least be honest enough to acknowledge it in their advertising.

    Hello,
    I'm testing how BDB performs on random updates as the number of databases increases. I'm seeing increase in latency as the number of databases goes up. and strace shows that more time is spent on futex() when there are more databases. Is this an expected behavior?

    Hi James,
    Presently, we never evict a DB after it's opened or encountered during recovery. Each DB takes about 2,000 bytes. So if you have 16K DBs you need approximately 32MB of memory, assuming all of them could be opened or recovered during a process lifetime. Unfortunately, even closing them does not cause them to be evicted. If you encounter them during recovery, this will also pull them into memory.
    We have an FAQ entry on this:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/berkeley-db/faq/je_faq.html#37
    So you will need a bigger cache size. If you are encountering this during recovery, then you could try a more frequent checkpoint interval.
    I hope this is useful.
    Regards,
    Charles Lamb

  • Workflow changed due to increasing Megapixels.

    About two months ago I upgraded to the Canon 5D MkII, very nice, 21MP, but this is to just set the stage, my previous camera was 12MP.
    During a normal days shoot I will, using raw, shoot around 1000 images, say 50 per "scene". I then go through cull them and present my client with a smaller selection to choose from, with any enhancements being done only to their final selection. Pretty normal and my clients and I love the quality from the increase in MP.
    I have just finished one of those dreaded copy jobs that comes "our" way occasionally, a pile of company journals from the 1960's. The shoot was fine, in RAW, so perhaps overkill in size but great quality.
    The issue arises in Aperture. Rather than the normal 20 images from a shoot I have to work through I have 800 that ALL need straightening, cropping, levels, sharpening, etc. The increased processing time due to the increased file size, wow, even with stamping the changes across them all, you can really feel it struggling and the job will take me at least 8 hours longer than budgeted for. The sitting and waiting is back to the stage where I can go and make a coffee, read the discussions, post a few myself and the system then be ready for me.
    The system which is quite adequate thank you, or so I thought, the library is even on a four disk raid. I would suggest that if you are spending the money to upgrade your camera system you will want to consider an upgrade in mac at the same time. Everything doubles, even the import times, oh and importantly the library size grows not a little bit quicker but at double the rate.
    Next time I shoot I will consider the end product and choosing the appropriate camera.

    Hi,
    Please explain PAE and How I can install it?
    Yes we have 64-bit supported Dell Server but our consultant Installed 32-Bit OS and 32-bit Oracle EBS.

  • Network Round Trips when loading a Form - reducing Network Latency

    I am working on a Forms migration from Client-Server to WebForms running on Application Server 10.1.2.0.2
    Does anyone know the minimum number of network round trips that can be achieved when loading a Form?
    For most of the Forms in the migration I am seeing 3 network round-trips before the Form is displayed and on Forms that use Webutil I am seeing 7 round-trips before the Form is displayed. Is this normal or are there ways of optimizing the round-trips down?
    The Forms code has already been optimized by removing SYNCHRONIZE commands and TIMER commands and I have already refered to metalink note 363285.1 which gives lots of good advice however there is no specific information on the minimum number of round trips that you can expect for loading a Form.
    Thanks for any help you can give.
    Philippe

    Ok, a bit of an update is needed.
    There were a number of posts below that have been lost due to an accidental deletion but I shall try and summarize them here:
    Tony Garabedian - Posted a number of code optimizations that he'd used for speeding up code when querying within a Form. Tony if you are able to re-post those that would be great :-)
    Grant Ronald - posted some more information in which he mentioned that the extra pings are used to synchronize between the App.Server and the client. He also commented that a network that uses satellite was inherently slower and would therefore require a different front end to handle the increase in latency.
    For my part I said nothing new other than ask loads more questions. I did mistakenly comment that we are using satellite for our network however upon yet more discussion with our network guy it turns out that we're using optical cable for everything. Out guaranteed round trip time is about 320 milli-seconds to Australia from the UK.
    Currently I am left with the understanding that we are not likely to go below 3 round trips for most of our Forms and in the case of Webutil we are likely to be limited to 7 round trips.
    Of course if anyone out there has any specific experience with this issue and can comment further please feel free.
    Many thanks,
    Philippe

  • Inventory offset decrease/increase and G/L decrease/increase account

    Dear All,
    What are the differences among Inventory offset decrease/increase and G/L decrease/increase account ? I have a training material that tells about them but give different result when using. Thanks a lot
    Rgd
    John

    Hello
    But in Indian Localization Help file has mentioned opposite. like
    Inventory Offset – Decrease Account, Inventory Offset – Increase Account
    These accounts are used as balancing accounts when the stock value is increased or decreased due to the creation of a material revaluation document.
    G/L Decrease Account
    An offsetting account to the Stock account used in Goods Issues and negative difference in Stock Postings (updates after inventory). You can change this account manually while creating its corresponding document.
    G/L Increase Account
    Offsetting account to the stock account used in goods receipts and positive differences in stock postings (updates after inventory). You can change this account manually while creating its corresponding document.
    These wordings are directly copied by me from HELP File & i was also shocked to see such wrong thing bcoz at the time of using Goods Receipt & Issues i came across wrong a/c's & i had to change that setting though it was not matching Definition in HELP file.
    Maybe SAP should rectify it.

  • Query latency vs number of partitions

    I am trying to measure the average latency per object retrieval using the query approach, and what I am finding is that as the number of instances of the server (a server being a single jvm running DefaultCacheServer with backup-count set to 1, and partition-count set to 1021) increases, the latency increases significantly as shown in the results below:
    Latency (microseconds) for Number of server instances
    Objects 2 4 8 16
    In Cache srvrs srvrs srvrs srvrs
    1K 593 730 889 1175
    10K 592 720 880 1206
    50K 580 724 879 1200
    100K 585 726 877 1204
    The query code is as follows:
    final Filter filter = new EqualsFilter(idExtractor, key);
    final Filter limitedFilter = new LimitFilter(filter, 1);
    final Set spotPricesKeys = cache.keySet(limitedFilter);
    if (spotPricesKeys != null && spotPricesKeys.size() > 0){
         spotPrice = (SpotPrice) cache.get(spotPricesKeys.iterator().next());
    and
    private static ValueExtractor idExtractor = new KeyExtractor("intValue");
    Any idea why the latency is increasing with the added number of server instances?
    Thanks
    Adsen

    Partitioning strategies is an "advanced" feature of Coherence. It works much like a hash function but instead of a hash code it calculates the partition number that will be used for each key. You can use more or less any deterministic algorithm based only on key information. Lets assume that you have a cache with strings as keys (representing for instance a persons name) and you would like to partition based on the first letter it could look something like this (this is just an example - in production code you would like to make sure the algorithm statistically makes as even use of all the partitions that you have in your cluster!):
    public class MyPartitionStrategy implements KeyPartitioningStrategy, Serializable {
    private PartitionedService partitionedService;
    public MyPartitionStrategy() {
    public void init(final PartitionedService partitionedService) {
    this.partitionedService = partitionedService;
    public int getKeyPartition(final Object key) {
    if (key instanceof String) {
    return ((String) key).charAt(0) % (partitionedService.getPartitionCount() + 1);
    } else {
    return key.hashCode() % (partitionedService.getPartitionCount() + 1);
    With this filter you would know that all keys starting with the same first letter ends up in the same partition. You would specify the use of this filter once in the coherence configuration (dont remember the element to use on top of my head though).
    Now assume that you for some reason want to do some query that only should apply to entries with a key starting with the letter 'a' you could do that with a PartitionedFilter (you would have to write some code that determines what partition the key 'a' would end up if it existed and then restrict the query to that single partiton). With this solution Coherence will only send the request to the single node holding the primary for that one partition holding all the "axxxx" keys and not to all the nodes in the cluster making the query scale close to linerary no matter how many nodes you have!
    A problem when the number of partitions grow is to find a partitioning strategy that allocates a useful set of objects into a single partition. If you for instance have like 4000+ partitions and would like to divide addresses based on state in order to perfrom queries against all of your customers in a particular state there is no obvious way to do that since the number of states is much smaller than the number of partitions :-(
    This kind of partitioning can however be very useful in many cases (we have used it to good effect in my current project).
    In produktion code it is often some part of a composite key that is useful as a key partitioning criteria and you could then for instance return the standard hash code of that key part modulus he partition count.
    Another possibly useful feature you may look at is when it comes to limiting the number of nodes invloved in queries is the KeyAssociatedFilter (if you use key association at all in your cache).

  • Latency Type & Changing it

    Hi all...
    Just a quick question about interleaving & FastPath, or whatever it's called.
    When I first took out my option 3 broadband, I was getting a stable 6.5-7mb -- actually what I was told I'd get when I signed up, which is obviously great -- however two or three weeks later I've been getting a lot of disconnections in online games and ping-spikes.
    I've looked around various forums and this one and read a few of other peoples' problems and the suggestions -- off the top of my head; disabling 'N' wireless function, changing channel pref. 11-13, make sure FON is disabled, change to WEP from WPA2, and the list goes on -- but haven't really got anywhere.  However, I've just stumbled across a thread on Hexus.net, a hardware/computing review-type-site, about FastPath and how it could decrease latency due to certain error checking being disabled and that, should you wish to have interleaving disabled and, thus, it enabled, phone BT...
    Line stats according to my HH2 Type-A:
    Ignore the connection time, was testing channel 12 and it seems my NIC doesn't like it so had to reset to defaults  Prior to that, my line had been up for over 2 days...  Any way, am I right in thinking that interleaving is indeed disabled on my line?  If so, is it just a matter of phoning BT and asking them to re-enable and in however many days it'll take, it'll be back to 'normal'...?  Thing is, I didn't ask for it to be changed in the first place and oh, before I forget, on a side note, FON seems to randomly enable itself, or at least has twice since I've had this broadband; not sure how it disabled the first time but it was on prior to my reset-to-defaults earlier this evening...
    Just for kicks:
     Download speedachieved during the test was - 2954 Kbps
     For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
     Additional Information:
     Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
     IP Profile for your line is - 7150 Kbps
    Cheers all
    EDIT: Only noticed a real problem since last Sunday where my HH updated it's firmware, though, looking at the HH pages now, it seems to have updated again today

    Well, it might be wise of me to leave it a few days to see if how it is now (yeah off peak & all) continues...  That would be nice...  Otherwise, I'll cry for a mod to come along
    Hope you get your way...  They can't refuse to disable it, surely?
    EDIT:  Just for fun, as it's off peak, I thought I'd get something to compare the above result with -- gg, BT... gg:
     Download speedachieved during the test was - 6663 Kbps
     For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
     Additional Information:
     Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)

  • Latency and External effects

    Hi,
    just wanted to know whether Logic NOW correctly handles latency on external effects, and by correct I mean is it automatically compensated for?
    Blessings and Love
    Beya

    Since I invented the "Latency Fixer" plugin, I think I should answer this post.
    I use outboard gear rather than plugins. When routing audio out through the converters and back, latency is a serious problem. I found that using the track delay parameter to compensate for this latency was worthless, since it is tied to the song tempo, it is too time consuming to set up for each song. It is also not sample accurate.
    I theorized that since all AU plugins need to report their latency to the Core Audio driver, a simple plugin could be created to do nothing more than to report a certain amount of latency which was specified by the user, thereby causing the Core Audio system to read that track ahead by this fixed amount. I contacted three programmers aboout coding this simple plugin. All three said it was impossible, but OS from the OS collective actually responded with questions and arguments, and we started a dialog. After a few permutations we came up with the current incarnation. In Logic 6 is was not possible to set up a different compensation for each instanciation, but in Logic 7 it is.
    In my work I require absolute sample accuracy, and I much prefer to know precisely that my interfaces are compensated to this degree.
    I recently sent off one of my MOTU HD192 to MOTU for repair, and the unit they returned back was a different hardware revision. It had a ONE sample difference in latency from my other HD 192. MOTU took a rather arrogant stance, telling me that I cannot hear one sample difference. Trust me, when you are parallel processing using outboard gear, one sample causes a serious phase problem.
    Despite what the above poster said, there is NO means to adjust for insert latency in Logic. There is a recording delay parameter , but that has no effect on this problem.
    Also, the latency changes with each Logic version and OSX revision. You need to re-test your system using the method outlined above each time you update any part of the software.
    If you are using a firewire interface, you may find that it is impossible to accurately compensate for latency due to Apple's firewire driver issues.

  • SD student  wants to increase stock of material

    Hi,
    I am a SD Student learning on IDES system, as a result of running a number of Sales orders i have no inventory for some of the materials i normally use.
    How can i increase the stock of the material, so that my SD functions are not interrupted by lack of stock..
    Thanks in advance
    Kevin

    Hi,
    If you want to increase your stock due to technical reasons (e.g. you are carrying out test in your test system) you can do it several ways. Some of them were discussed above but you can also increase you stock with MB1A + 202, MB1A + 262 + PrdOrd reference, MB1A + 552, MB1B + 309 (if you want materialA to be materialB) etc.
    (Please be careful with these kinds of bookings in your normal system...:) )

  • How much to identify pending txn/data during oracle streams latency

    Hi ,
    I have configured Downstream replication between database. Sometime i am getting latency due to large txn. Latency  is taking more than 6 hrs to drain. How to check below things
         pending transaction?
         How much data's are in pending?
         How long it will take to replicate.
    Could you please help on this

    Hi, You can try as below:
    Source Side
    Replication is very quick. You can see the progress as below:
    1. Sql> Select capture_message_number from v$streams_capture;
    XXXXXX
    2. Query the current archived logfiles that the stream is processing;
    QL> select name, completion_time from v$archived_log where XXXXXX between FIRST_CHANGE# and NEXT_CHANGE#;
    NAME                                               COMPLETION_TIME
    /AGNCSYST/arch/1_299.dbf                           28-07-2009 13:26:48
    Repeat this query a couple of times to see the progress.
    When you will get null value, then Capture process is up to date.
    TARGET/ Stage side
    Then check on Stage side to see the progress
    1. Run below SQL -- APPLIED_MESSAGE_NUMBER should moving
    column APPLIED_MESSAGE_NUMBER heading "applied_scn" format 999999999999
    column OLDEST_MESSAGE_NUMBER heading "oldest_scn" format 999999999999
    select APPLY_NAME, APPLIED_MESSAGE_NUMBER, OLDEST_MESSAGE_NUMBER
