Increase Lock code period?

Hi,
on my Nokia E70 I have set a lock code. The maximum lock code period I'm allowed to set is 60 minutes. Is there a way to increase this period?
Regards,
Kyrill

I haven't got my hands on any Nokia models that have a maximim duration greater than an hour!

  • How can I disable the lock code on my N8

Decided to setup the mail for exchange on my N8 so I could see my work emails. Worked like a charm but after a couple of hours decided I didn't like being that contactable so deleted the mailbox.
Now to the problem, during setup I was forced to enable the phone lock and had to pick a 7 digit alphanumeric code. Fair enough I thought and went ahead. When I removed the mailbox however the lock remained in place with the default auto time of 30 minutes. When I checked in Phone management there is no option to disable this lock so I thought I could at least change the default time to something bigger but when you try, it remains at 30 mins. You also can't disable the auto time as it pops up an error message saying can't unlock phone.
Does anyone know if I'm missing something obvious here or is this something which can't be disabled once it's switched on? I've done a soft reset back to factory settings with no luck and the only other thing I can think of is re installing the firmware which seems a bit extreme.
Would like to hope there is some way to have control over this. Can someone help?

Which firmware your N8 having now? You can check firmware by choosing Call, then type *#0000#.
My N8 works fine on security setting and able to define Phone auto lock period, by choosing Menu>Settings>Phone>Phone management>Security settings>Phone and SIM card>Phone auto lock period>User defined>Lock after(minutes)
You will prompt to enter Lock code each time u define auto lock priod or enable/disable auto lock.
    Hope this can help you.

  • N85, 20.175, lock code corrupted after *#7370#

I upgraded using FOTA to 20.175 and all was perfect for some day, my original  lock code was retained and working as usual.
Today I tried *#7370#, put my lock code to execute the reset and it was performed.
After that I noticed that the security options were screwed up. I can no longer change the lock code. It has not been reset to 12345 and my old code does not work any longer.
If I perform again either *#7370# or the factory reset option my original lock code is
    accepted and operation performed.
Anyway my original code can not unlock the phone, for example If I put the
phone offline  it goes into lock state and the correct lock code is not able to unlock it.
Fortunately removing the battery and powering on the lock code is not requested and
I can use the phone again.
Originally I had the phone lock period set up to 900 minutes and the
"lock if SIM card changed" enabled.
Both these options are now disabled and I cannot change them.

    Hi donlisander
In view of the UDP feature of your N85 although it requires a degree of manual dexterity have you tried carrying out the "Three finger reset" to re-format your device and return to "out of the box" condition?
I tried all know forms of reset. The *#7370# which seems to have little effect (just reset the
phone language to "automatic"), the menu "factory setting" option which seems a little stronger and reset the theme and most settings. Also the 3 keys trick, more than once.
The security module seems to have been corrupted by the initial *#7370#. Even firmware
reinstall is not able to fix it. There must be a way to work around UDP and perform
the old style reset, which really cured such things.

  • E63 keeps asking lock code - cannot disable

    Hi,
After installing, using and uninstalling the mail exchange application my e63 keeps asking the lock code. The mail application somehow demanded to use the lock code. Now I have checked the settings many times and I cannot disable it - I cannot disable or set the autolock period above 10 mins -> "unable to unlock phone".
Even restored factory settings but no go. Entering lock code every time I need my phone is annoying.
    Any solutions?

Finally, I simple delete my Exchange mail box (also did a refresh of the services but don't know if it was mandatory). And my Lock Code parameters switchs itself automatically to my settings (No lock code) .
So, the Encrypt-Decrypt solution was not necessary for me. Too bad for Microsoft : I will never use Exchange util they fix this MAJOR bug because it's too annoying for me to have a lock on my phone every hour...

  • Reset lock code

I have tried to use the lock code 12345 but it's not working. What could be the problem and how can I reset it.

Have you changed your lock code? If yes,
Try different numbers which you might have changed code to. 12345 is default unless changed.
Final way to reset the code would be is to go to Nokia care centre.
Proof of purchase might be required and they may charge you if phone is out of warranty period.
If your phone is unlocked, backup important data before any software update or reinstall or before going to Nokia care.
    Hope this helps.

  • Nokia n73 lock code

hi, is there any way I can disable the lock code? I have full access to the phone, I know the lock code and I can change it to anything I want.. but having to enter the code everytime I want to unlock the phone is time consuming. is there a way I can disable it?

    @artjoms23
How about going to Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Security > Phone and SIM > scroll down to Phone autolock period = None - thinks it asks for your lock code again before allowing you to change.

  • Lock code after reset to factory settings

I have changed my lock code from default and I remember it. Since I had some software issues, I reset the phone (Nokia 5230) to factory settings by giving the lock code.
Today when I enter (after resetting) my personal lock code, the phone didn't accept it. I tryied several times and got a warning message.  Will my phone become locked permanently if I enter the wrong lock code again? What should I do? Please help.
    Solved!

You get locked out for increasing lengths of time before you can input another lock code upon repeated tries. Although it should not have changed, presumably you tried factory default of 12345 as one of your attempts? If all else fails a visit to Nokia Care facility with proof of purchase beckons.

  • Lock Code when turn on - 5800XM

When I had v40 I had to tenter the Lock Code when I turned the phone on (something I did rarely so no problem).
When I updated to v50 it doesn't ask for the Lock Code now. Any one know how I can set this to happen please?
    Mark

I tried to paste something from the extended user manual, but it looked weird on the screen, so I've tried to make it look sensible.  I hope the following does the job:
Select Menu > Settings and Phone > Phone mgmt. > Phone and SIM card. PIN code request — When active, the code is requested
each time the device is switched on.

  • I am trying to restore my iPhone 5 and my screen is no longer able to use and there is a lock code on the phone, how do i restore the phone without having to use the phonne?

how do i restore my iPhone with a lock code on the phone and the screen is completely unable to use?

Forgotten Passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

  • How do I set up a lock code for my Nokia C2-02?

Hi, I have a used Nokia C2-02 phone from a seller on eBay.
I wish to protect my privacy so that other people cannot access my texts, etc.
When I go to 'settings', 'security', and click on 'access codes', in order to set up a lock code,  the display says'change security code'.
When I ckick on it, I get a request for my security code.
Twice now I have keyed in'12345', which I take to be the default code.
Each time I get an error message and the second time it said that I have only one more chance to key in the correct code.
Perhaps the previous owner had a code, which I take to be the same as a security keyguard code.
When I go to 'device' in 'settings', it says that the security keyguard is off.
I can switch it on, but to activate it I again need to key in a code.
Am I corect in thinking that either someone has alrerady set up a code or the default code is not '12345'?
Also, What can I do to set up my own code?
Fianally, What if I use a pin code? Will that protect my privacy?
Do I have to get in touch with my network provider ( Tesco Mobile) in order to set it up?
I'd appreciate any help anyone can give,
    Laurence

If I used a  pin code instead, would it protect my privacy?
would it stop those without the code reading my texts and so on?
PIN Code is basically for the SIM card and not the phone. Talking of privacy, your phone will be fully explorable if the SIM card is removed, so PIN scenario is pretty wasteful. Majority of the phones only ask for the PIN code when the phone is started and register the SIM to the network only wen PIN is furnished.
If It does not work I could find that I have locked the phone, which could necessitate sending it to the Nokia Care centre.
This is where the online free service may come in. It claims that it can find the security mastercode for any individual phone, based on the IMEI number, which you access by keying in asterisk, hash, 06, hash, or by taking the back off the phone and looking inside.
Armed with the 10-digit mastercode you key it in and it unlocks the phone.
That, at least, is the claim, but on another mastercode site there's a warning that the mastercode works only for older models.
I have my mastercode, but I don't know whether to take the chance.
Does anyone have any views on this?.
    , Cheers, Laurence
Unfortunately, these type of Master Codes do not work. If ever they worked, the phones would become too easy to break in. As far as I can remember, I have not seen any person with a claim that one of those Master Codes worked for them. Maybe they worked for very very old 1st gen devices from Nokia, but not anymore. The security code is based on what user enters in the settings and there doesn't exist any master code to over-ride that. If it would, Nokia Care should be making use of that instead refurbishing/flashing the phones in every case that called for Keyguard Code.

How to show ipad application in itunes, but will only be assessable to owners, not the general public by using lock code/password protected on iTunes

So if I understand you properly, I need to create EOs for all my list of values (which are based on views of Oracle apps tables) and base my VO on those EOs. And then I setup associations between these EOs and the Item EO. Then I include the these EOs in my Items VO and add the description attributes to my list of attributes. I had done this for the list of users, but for the views of Oracle I had just created read only VO. Sounds like that won't work if I want to display the description. I know what to do - I guess I was hoping there was a way to use the read only VO.
    Thanks

But after days since no one is returning it i tried putting passcode on lock mode... And who would have thought that after a week someone will call me and told me that she will return the phone. But unfortunately i forgot the lock code so i cant use it. I dont want to restore it since my photos and videos are not sync to my itunes. if only theres a way that it would only just require my apple id and not the 4 digit code

There's no way to unlock it without restoring it.

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

I have no other password to call upon and need the restore to retrieve info onto my phone, I am a real novice to this...... please help, !!!!

If anyone else is looking for a solution to this same problem, I was able to get it working looking through several older discussions.
The solution was to use the password that I had on my iTunes account the very first time I set up the iPhone about a year ago.  I changed my iTunes password about 10 months ago;  but apparently, the backups continue to use the password that existed when the phone was first set up.
A couple of troubling things with this are that 1) I didn't apply a password when I did the backup this afternoon so I don't understand why it was required when I did the restore a few hours later. and 2) it makes zero sense why iTunes would not be smart enough to use the current accout password when requiring the password to restore from a backup made with no password.
I thought iTunes and Apple were smarter than that.  With so many posts stating exactly the same problem, it is clear that this is bug in the software.
    Best,
    Craig
