Increase memory size issue
HI forum members ,
I'm newby in solaris10 , and I had to increase the RAM from 512 to 1024 (because of oracle), but when I put the new memory card, the pc (x86) rebooted several times by tiself, then apparently everthing its normal, however I would like to check the boot log file , but I don't know which is
Do you know where it coul be( boot log file)?
Thanks in advance
Hello.,
What is the exact issue with distribution functions.
Some of the key points.
- Check the definition of your aggregation level - Only select the requeried chanracters and keep the optimum filters applicable to your secnario.
- Check the master data consistancy.
- Keep your data sets minimal and sequence your distribution function in many iterations.
- Increase the memory parameters at maximum extent depends system resources and frequency of your distribution function runs.
- Run distrubution function offline ( out of business hours ).
Cheers...

Epson Print CD - "Increase memory size"
Bit of a long shot I guess, but I'm trying to print onto a CD using Epson Print CD... However, when I go to print, it comes up with a message that says "Please increase memory size for print CD", and won't go any further. I'm guessing that has something to do with setting preferences in OSX, but I have no idea what to do...
Any ideas?Greg,
Actually the versions are newer. I just visited the Epson website and found this info. Thank you for the pointer.
Here's the PowerPC version for your iMac iSight 2.5aAas for 10.2 to 10.4, and Intel version, if you got any Intel Macs 3.0aAs for 10.4.4 and above on the U.S. website. The U.K. links for the same printer are here: PowerPC version 2.5, and Intel version 3.0. Not sure if there is a difference, but you might want to try the U.S. version of the drivers. Jdbc sender channel memory size issue
Hi Experts,
We are facing the below error in connect to jdbc sender channel from XI . Could anyone of you suggest me the right action to be taken in this regard.
Database-level error reported by JDBC driver while executing statement 'select * from*********where posted = '0''. The JDBC driver returned the following error message: 'com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: The system is out of memory. Use server side cursors for large result sets:Java heap space. Result set size:614,143,127. JVM total memory size:1,031,798,784.'. For details, contact your database server vendor.
Appreciate your quick help.
Thanks & Regards,
Ranganath.Regulate the number of records returned by Select statement for permanent fix.
Few more things....
a)If you want to select only some fields, then dont use Select * from table. Rather specify select a,b,c from tablename
b) specify some flag in the table so that read some records each time and in the update statement update the flag for those records already read. So that you will not reread the same records in the next message.
Hope you understand.

Is there anyway to easily increase the amount of memory for windows once it is in place. I did not allocate enough to start with?
Yes, when I allocated the memory amount when adding windows, I did not allocate enough. I now find I need more memory for windows and I have plently for my OS 6.1. Can I easily do this??

Certain Java applets are crashing after increasing Memory Size to 1GB
The default java memory stellent uses in 384MB in the intradoc.cfg file. I recently updated both max and min to 1GB. Now I'm not saying memory increase is causing the crashes but I'm guessing. Say if I go to configeration manager applet and try to add a value or property, after clicking add the java applet freezes and I have to close the browser and restart again and same thing happens. Now the machine has in total 2GB of memory. I know that if java uses shared memory space (as the memory is increased to 1GB) with other application unpredictable random may happen. What do you think?
Hi,
i need do modify the intradoc.cfg to increase java memory. Can you send me all modifications that you apply in your intadroc file?
thanks! -
How to increase memory size of a variable.
Hello ABAP gurus,
Plese clarify my doubt.
My doubt is I have one variable which stores 20 characters.now i need to pass 50 characters to store 50 character.How can i achieve this.
please clarify my doubt.
Regards
Maruthi.Create the variable dinamically:
DATA: my_var TYPE REF TO DATA,
my_type TYPE C,
my_length TYPE i.
FIELD-SYMBOLS: <fs_my_var> TYPE ANY.
DESCRIBE variable_to_copy TYPE my_type.
my_length = strlen( variable_to_copy ).
CREATE DATA my_var TYPE my_type LENGTH my_length.
ASSIGN my_var->* TO <fs_my_var>.
<fs_my_var> = variable_to_copy.
If you include this in a FORM than you can call it every time you have to pass a new value.
Hope this helps,

Hi,URGENT--Memory size of binary Increasing due to multithreading in Pro*C
I got stuck in Multhithreading in PRO*C.
Memory size of my binary keeps on increasing.
Flow is like this.
My main thread spawns multiple threads of two types of threads. Both types of threads connect to different dbs.
In other words, i need to have multiple connections with to different db's i.e. configure multiple threads for same.
For this i take sql context variable in each thread and pass it to connect_to_db func. for connection. Then that thread use corresponding sql context variable for pl/sql function( CHANGE_INPUT) call.
This keeps of memory size of my binary inceasing.
In above code T_ABILLITY_INPUT is of object type whose ott converted header and out type file is already included.
CHANGE_INPUT is pls/sql function
Can any help me out in using multithreading in pro*c.
It's very-very URGENT, This is creating problem in live site.

}This must be my last last thing. AHT was on an iMac I bought in 2009. It was included on my "disk 2" along with several other applications. When I wiped and installed the full Lion, AHT was gone. Same is true for the full Mountain Lion installation media. It does not have AHT. I'm not at all sure how to get it back from Apple.
I was able to find it on my SL disc 2 and extract it again from that. Disc 2 won't install on Mountain Lion (the packages are too out of date) but the AHT pkg does.
Since you have it, consider packing it up and keeping it safe. Maybe someone who knows AHT better than I can elaborate on AHT. From what I've seen, you get it when your mac ships but if you ever wipe and reinstall the OS, you lose it. -
How do you increase font size in Bridge using windows 7 and a 4k monitor? It appears as though this issue has come up previously but there is no answer.
Unfortunately this will require some new programming by Adobe and there's no way to know when that will happen. In the meantime, the only option I think you have available to you is to change your resolution so that your monitor is using fewer pixels per inch.
Kinda blows the whole value of the newer monitor but I suppose you can switch back and forth from low res when you are working in Bridge to high res when you are working in PS.
Sorry, but for the time being, that's about it.

Increase JVM memory size in build.xml?
Hi,
I want to know if it is possible to increase the JVM memory size in the "build.xml" file of my java fx project itself?If so,how to go about it?
Thanks a lot.I think you can achieve that by specifying <fx:jvmarg>.
For example:
<fx:deploy width="${applet.width}"
height="${applet.height}"
embedJNLP="true"
nativeBundles="all"
outdir="${dist.dir}"
outfile="${application.title}"
verbose="true">
<!--
Increase JVM memory size.
http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2/deployment/javafx_ant_task_reference002.htm#CIAGFFIF
-->
<fx:platform javafx="2.2+" j2se="7.0">
<fx:jvmarg value="-Xms64M"/>
<fx:jvmarg value="-Xmx512M"/>
</fx:platform>
</fx:deploy>Hope that helps!

How to increase the size of sort_area_size
How to increase the size of sort_area_size and what size should be according to the PROD database
Thanksuser10869960 wrote:
Hi,
Many Thanks Charles
Oracle does not recommend using the SORT_AREA_SIZE parameter unless the instance is configured with the shared server option. Oracle recommends that you enable automatic sizing of SQL working areas by setting PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET instead. SORT_AREA_SIZE is retained for backward compatibility."
--How can i know the instance is configured with the shared server option or not?This might be a tough question to answer. A shared server configuration may be enabled, but the clients may still connect using dedicated sessions, in which case PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET would still apply.
From
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/dynviews_2088.htm
V$SESSION includes a column named SERVER which will contain one of the following for each of the sessions: DEDICATED, SHARED, PSEUDO, or NONE. As a quick check, you could query V$SESSION to see if any sessions are connected using a shared server connection.
From:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14231/manproc.htm
There are several parameters which are used to configure shared server support, as well as several views to monitor shared server.
As Robert mentioned, when the WORKAREA_SIZE_POLICY is set to AUTO, the SORT_AREA_SIZE setting is not used, unless a shared server configuration is in use.
--What default value is WORKAREA_SIZE_POLICY and SORT_AREA_SIZE ?From:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/initparams157.htm
"Setting PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET to a nonzero value has the effect of automatically setting the WORKAREA_SIZE_POLICY parameter to AUTO. This means that SQL working areas used by memory-intensive SQL operators (such as sort, group-by, hash-join, bitmap merge, and bitmap create) will be automatically sized. A nonzero value for this parameter is the default since, unless you specify otherwise, Oracle sets it to 20% of the SGA or 10 MB, whichever is greater."
Actually I am facing performence issue since long time till now i did not get the solution even i have raised SRs but i could not.When the issue occur system seems hang.what i monitored whenever hdisk0 and hdisk1 use 100% the issue occur.
Regards,
SajidWhen you say that you have had a performance issue for a long time, is it a performance problem faced by a single SQL statement, a single user, a single application, or everything on the server? If you are able to identify a single user, or SQL statement that is experiencing poor performance, I suggest starting with a 10046 trace at level 8 (wait events) or level 12 (wait events and bind variables) to determine why the execution appears to be slow. If you have not yet determined a specific user or SQL statement that is experiencing performance problems, you might start with either a Statspack Report or an AWR Report (AWR requires a separate license).
If you believe that temp tablespace usage may be a contributing factor to the performance problem, you may want to periodically run this query, which will indicate currently in use temp tablespace usage:
{code}
SELECT /*+ ORDERED */
TU.USERNAME,
S.SID,
S.SERIAL#,
S.SQL_ID,
S.SQL_ADDRESS,
TU.SEGTYPE,
TU.EXTENTS,
TU.BLOCKS,
SQL.SQL_TEXT
FROM
V$TEMPSEG_USAGE TU,
V$SESSION S,
V$SQL SQL
WHERE
TU.SESSION_ADDR=S.SADDR
AND TU.SESSION_NUM=S.SERIAL#
AND S.SQL_ID=SQL.SQL_ID
AND S.SQL_ADDRESS=SQL.ADDRESS;
{code}
The SID and SERIAL# returned by the above could then be used to enable a 10046 trace for a session. The SQL_ID (and CHILD_NUMBER from V$SESSION in recent releases) could be used with DBMS_XPLAN.DISPLAY_CURSOR to return the execution plan for the SQL statement.
You could also take a look in V$SQL_WORKAREA_ACTIVE to determine which, if any, SQL statement are resulting in single-pass, or multi-pass executions, which both access the temp tablespace.

Dear experts:
I got a problem with ABAP memory performance issue. I need to export an internal table to ABAP memory, and it's ID is sales order number. So, I will bulid too many ABAP memory in SAP...
Does it will couse performance issue or will it be lost?
tyroluHi Tyrolu,
There are some settings in basis which decides size of your abap memory.
If you are consuming most of the abap memory by exporting heavy objects to abap memory then
you may face a problem as many standard sap program aslo uses abap memory and
if there is no free abap memory then they will start thowing short dumps like "Page allocation error"
or "Could not allocate shared memory" or something like that, I don't remember exact term now.
In some cases you won't have any problem if users are less, but as the no of concurrent users
running your program increased then every user who runs the program would consume abap memory
and if there is no free abap memory then this may again lead to above mentioned problem.
Also ensure FREE MEMORY ID is used which clears abap memory immediatly.
Other wise abap memory is cleared by the garbage collector on random basis and by that time
your memory remains consumed and not available for other programs to use
which may again lead to above mentioned problem.

Hope you doing good!!
I am facing a memory leakage issue in the Solaris server configured.

+919990550305Please test it with release version as there may be a lot of things which are fixed after beta.
Also please note down the statement cache size your application was using earlier. Starting from 2.111.7.10/2.111.7.20, the statement cache size is automatically tuned by default. This feature is called self tuning. You may disable self tuning and specify your own statement cache size as usual. To know more about self tuning, please consult ODP.NET Developer's Guide.
I would suggest that you first upgrade to the release version 2.111.7.20. If that does not solve the problem, you may either
- specify MaxStatementCacheSize
or
- disable self tuning and provide your own statement cache size -
Increasing memory on K8N-Neo2F
I would like to increase the memory in a home built PC I inherited from a friend who emigrated – but as I am not that knowledgeable I would be very grateful for any advice on the following -
The PC runs Windows XP & is fine but slow, it has 512 MB of memory (2 x 256MB). From the MSI site I can see I could use upto 4 x 1GB and wanted to start by adding 2 x 1GB whilst keeping the eisting 512MB to speed things up a bit.
Problem is there is some much info I can’t sort the wheat from the chaff.
When I ran an SiS scan the existing memory came up as :-
Model : CL2-3-3 Ultra-433
Extended Information : GeiL Dual Channel
Serial Number : 20020725
Type : 256MB DDR-SDRAM
Technology : 8x(32Mx8)
Speed : PC3500U 2.0-3-3-7
Date of Manufacture : 05 February 2002
Set Timing @ 217MHz : 2.0-3-3-7
Am I correct in assuming the “Dual Channel” referred in the SiS scan to is the same as “Double Sided” in the MSI site for this board – and is this also the same as “High Density” which I found on an E-bay site which had warnings about buying high density memory for older boards as it wouldn’t work or would only see half the memory. Also confusing for novices like me is that is that from what I’ve read “Double Sided” doesn’t necessarily mean that the module physically has chips on both sides – it’s merely an expression - yes ?
The MSI site info for my motherboard is below
Supports dual channel DDR 266/333/400, using four 184-pin DDR DIMMs .
• Supports a maximum memory size up to 4GB without ECC.
• Supports 2.5v DDR SDRAM DIMM.
DIMM Module Combination
Install at least one DIMM module on the slots. Each DIMM slot supports up to a maximum size of 1GB. Users can install either single- or double-sided modules to meet their own needs. Please note that each DIMM can work respectively for singlechannel DDR, but there are some rules while using dual-channel DDR (Please refer to the suggested DDR population table below). Users may install memory modules of different type and density on different-channel DDR DIMMs. However, the same type and density memory modules are necessary while using dual-channel DDR, or instability may happen. Please refer to the following table for detailed dual-channel DDR. Other combination not listed below will function as single-channel DDR.

DIMM1 (Ch A) Purple
DIMM2 (Ch B) Green
DIMM3 (Ch A) Purple

128MB~1GB 128MB~1GB 128MB~1GB 128MB~1GB 512MB~4GB
MSI Reminds You...
• Dual-channel DDR works ONLY in the 3 combinations listed in the table shown in the previous page.
• Please select the identical memory modules to install on the dual channel, and DO NOT install three memory modules on three DIMMs, or it may cause some failure.
• Always insert the memory modules into the GREEN slots first, and it is strongly recommended not to insert the memory modules into the PURPLE slots while the GREEN slots are left empty.
• This mainboard DO NOT support the memory module installed with more than 18 pieces of IC (integrated circuit).

If dual channel = double sided = high density then looking at MSI table the two 1GB modules I want to purchase need to be double sided also (per the last line) to ensure compatibility with the existing 256 (dual channel – per the SiS scan) modules as I would like to leave them in.
When I look at the Crucial and other sites for compatible memory it doesn’t confirm if the memory recommended is “double sided” or not - so do the spec or the numbers of the memory tell me this & I just don’t understand ?
Two examples from the Crucial site are below and I don’t know if one or both would be ok ?
Crucial CT12864Z335 128Meg x 64 1gb DDR333 PC2700 CL=2.5 Unbuffered Non ECC
Crucial CT12864Z40B 128Meg x 64 1gb DDR400 PC3200 CL=3 Unbuffered Non ECC
I note that people on the site talk about changing BIOS timing settings for stability etc – I would really like to avoid having to delve to that level as I don’t feel confident so would really appreciate some (hopefully simple) advice on what would be a straightforward and failsafe way to upgrade my memory.
Like so many things you scratch the surface and find out there’s whole lot more to understand…….!
Many thanks
JulianThanks very much to everyone for your kind advice – if I understand correctly I should upgrade to 2 x 1GB and forget trying to use the existing 512MB as well.
Unfortunately my lack of knowledge means I'm still a bit in the dark.
When I first wanted to upgrade I went on various sites such as Crucial & Corsair and got their recommendations for compatible memory - problem is they don’t specify if their recommendation is high or low density – unless I don’t understand the numbers & letters properly – see examples below:-
Crucial CT12864Z335 128Meg x 64 1gb DDR333 PC2700 CL=2.5 Unbuffered Non ECC
Crucial CT12864Z40B 128Meg x 64 1gb DDR400 PC3200 CL=3 Unbuffered Non ECC
Corsair VS1GB400C3 DDR-400 (PC3200C3) 2.6v 3-3-3-8-2T
Crucial describe theirs as 128Meg x 64 but Henry says to avoid this – I assume because 128Meg x 64 means it's high density – does this mean that I can’t even trust a site like Crucial to select compatible memory ?!
The e-bay article linked to in Henry’s reply is also a bit confusing because at the very top it refers to 128M x 64 but then a few lines later refers to 128M x 4 as being high density and 64 x 8 as being low density yet Henry refers to 128M x 64 as being high density and the Crucial spec above describes it as 128M x 64.
Hopefully you can see why I find it confusing & might be able to enlighten me and/or say what numbers/ letters etc will identify if the memory is low or high density ?
