Increase memory to play games
Sorry for the simple question but I want to play a game on my HP Stream 13 but need more memory,Can I just add a micro memory card and if yes which one should I use?

System RAM is what is needed and also what kind game are we talking about? Did you see if your system can upgrade RAM? If not you will have to find the Service Manual to see if you can upgrade the RAM from the HP driver site.

How to free up memory to play game ?
I recently tried to install a game via dvd, but then got the message that I had "0 mb...and need to free up memory" to play the game
yet I have recenty added memory and have over 500 mb available, according to the system.
do I need to drag the game icons to the hard drive? seems like I have enough memory, but when the game file appears it says " 0 mb" at the top of the file. or do they mean Ram?
I am a first-time mac user, love the forum, and would appreciate any suggestions
thanks to allThe game likely needs to be installed from the DVD onto your iBook's hard drive. Obviously, you will need to check the specs of the game to see how much space is recommended by the game maker for the game to run and run efficiently.
500 megabytes likely isn't enough to run a game. This is the space on your iBook's hard drive, correct, and not the disc itself?

As mentioned in my question above, it happens usually during playing games. I wondered if there were someway to clean out the virtual memory, as opposed to it "increasing" continually and overloading my memory in general. You are speaking with a computer novice for the most part, so I am unfamiliar with a lot. I do do updates and general maintenance on the computer, but is that enough for this issue?

Physical memory is the memory that is installed on your computer as real memory. To be able to run programs that require more memory and more programs at the same time (via time sharing and task switching) it is also possible to move (swap) currently not needed code and data to disk to make room for other programs and data. The total memory available for programs is the Virtual Memory.
You can check the Virtual Memory settings here: Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance > Settings (Advanced tab)<br />
Windows can manage more memory then is physical available and that memory is stored in a page file on your hard drive.
If the size of that file is not large enough and all available memory is in use then you get the Virtual Memory is low warning.
Make sure that you have at least 1 GB or the recommended setting for the Virtual Memory.
If you have less than 1 GB physical memory installed on your computer then if possible add more memory.

Humming noise when playing games
Hello,
I'm hoping someone can help me solve a buzzing noise I'm getting when playing games.
I have a x-fi fatalty, gtx 480 in SLI and a x58a-ud3r motherboard and for the most part the x-fi works fine, however when I play 3d games I get a very irritating buzzing sound coming from the speakers while playing.
Things I've tried...
Switching off SLI / only having one graphics card installed - no difference
Wrapping the x-fi in electrical tape to stop interference - no difference
Switching the pcie slot - no difference
Latest BIOS - no difference
Trying x-fi different drivers - no difference
Using on board audio - no buzzing at all
Switching off 3d audio and crystallizer- reduces buzzing significantly but?still?there!
I'm out of ideas now... anyone else had this problem?
T_L_TWell, I got Windows 7, I cleaned the inside which was quite dusty. I launched Left 4 Dead, had a minute of calm, then the sound of my fan started to increase slowly to the point when it sounds a bit like when you turn a Mac Pro on. It seems slightly better though. Probably by doing a full cleaning of the inside I could make it a bit less noisy.

Choosing gpu when playing games
Hi,
I own a hp g6-2305sl running win 8.1, it's not a bad laptop, the only thing I can't control is the gpu when playing games.
I have AMD catalyst 14.9 and HD Intel driver 153330, but when I go to device manager there is only AMD HD 7600M series and not AMD HD 7670M. And also even if I select maximize performance and set the high performance gpu for games, game is slow has hell, like using the Intel gpu.
Please post a solutionHi @keep2 ,
Thank you for your query, I will try my best to be of aid.

What's your CPU? Do you overclock it? I had a 430w-Thermaltake PSU shipped by the manufacturer with my computer. I experienced mysterious problems. I got help from this forum, replaced that 430w PSU with a Tagan and my computer has been running reliably since. Some reviews on newegg.com said about that 430w PSU "more than enough for my power rig blah blah blah..." Maybe with stock speed. -
Why does my mid-2010 Macbook Pro suffer from huge FPS drops whenever I try to play games?
Macbook info: 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7, 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3, nVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512MB
When I play games on my Macbook Pro, such as League of Legends, Diablo III, World of Warcraft, etc., they operate well with latency of ~80ms usually and fps starting off between 30-60, but after only a couple seconds or minutes my fps drops to 5-15 and the games become unplayable and I must force quit the program. Restarting the computer helps temporarily but then it relapses.
I cleaned out all my downloads, applications, and other deletable files that I could find. I installed and updated Mavericks OS X and the issue persists. Before I installed Mavericks I noticed in Activity Monitor that almost all of my memory was in use while playing a game. After Mavericks the memory is almost all permanently in use, but from what I've read this is what is supposed to happen and instead of looking at memory in use you look at memory pressure, which looks normal.
I was going to upgrade from 4GB RAM (current) to 8GB RAM and see if that helps but idk if that has anything to do with my fps issue or not. Any thoughts?Alright well I'm definitely not running virus scans or doing system backups and then complaining about slow performance.... The only other application running besides whatever game i'm playing is SMC fancontrol to make sure my computer isn't overheating.
In terms of CPU%, games like WoW and LoL take ~50-60% of CPU while active, but activity monitor still reports ~80% idle. For disk activity, i'm not sure whether it uses optical or not, I assume i just uses the hard drive, which is brand new cus it broke down about a month ago and I had to replace it (the fans are brand new as well, so I don't think it could be build up of dust or anything inside because it was opened and cleaned so recently).
I can set all graphics setting to lowest possible and improve my fps to 20, which is still awful, and enabling vertical sync just sends it back down to 15 fps. I don't see why I should have to use lowest graphics settings anyway. It can't be out of date drivers since i have 10.9.1 running. Could the graphics card be the issue? That would suck since I can replace and upgrade RAM but not the graphics card.
I have repaired disk and disk permissions multiple times, virus scans, the whole gambit and nothing seems to help. -
Help me?! graph card problems when trying to play games on mac in wmvare-windows 7
I know that you aren't suppose too play games on mac. But I bought a iMac 27"
Processor 3,5 GHz Intel Core i7
Minne 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Grafik NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2048 MB
and I installed wmvare and windows 7 so I could do gameplays for my YouTube channel on PC games. I didn't boot because I were insecure but anyways. I installed wmvare and windows 7 sucesfully but then when I were going too try too run the game Black Ops 2 in steam it poped up a message that told me
"DirectX encountered an unrecoverable error. Check the readme for possible solutions." So I sat for hours trying too understand what the problem was, trying to update DirectX with more. Since I already had the latest DirectX that wasent the problem. And finaly I found the sulution. There were some problem with the grapich card so I needed too upgrade the grapich card. Well ofcourse NIVIDIA didn't have any driver for the GTX 775M grapich card. I checked here https://discussions.apple.com/message/24065327#24065327 and used the link that took me to were I could dowload the drivers. When the dowloading were done and I started the system check after a while it stoped and told me that the NVIDIA installation coulden't go on. Becuase this graphics routine could not find any compatible graphics hardware. So what is the sulution? Because I am not going (I have already put so much money on this) pay more for this too work so as ordering new stuff like a driver, another grapich card or anything lika that I dont want to boot my computer but if I must I perhaps will do it just if I dont need to pay for another windows 7. So I want a awnser were I can and how I can dowload the drivers so that I can play games on my mac for exampel; Black Ops 2, Battelfield 3/4, The Forest, Day Z. Would be greatfull for awnsers that have a sulution!!!!Okey, so when I was going too boot my computer it works good untill half the way thruh when boot campassistant is going too dowload the latest windows assistant it says "This computer can just do windows 7" then I press next after a few seconds it says "Can't dowload files because the server is busy" (this was just from my memory it may have been somthing else, but it is pretty much what it said). So how do I fix this, the easiest thing too just press a few buttons and choose a ISO image and the it can't even proseed to the pratipation....

Do playing games lower my MacBook's lifespan?
I have a MacBook Pro with Retina Display and want to know how harmful playings games are to it. Does it effect battery life? The overall speed of the machine overtime? Please let me know and if you could explain to me why it would harm my MacBook Pro or why it would not! Thanks!
These are the games I have on a portable HDD:
- Diablo III
- Starcraft II
- Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
- The Sims 3
- Lego Harry PotterElectronics them self are NOT designed for a certain life span (poorly designed ones are). They can last many years beyond there usefullness but.....and there's a very big butt.
Shorten life span equals:
1. Heat
2. Cold
3. Over Current
3b. Under Current
4. Neutron exposure
If the electronic part i.e.. transistors, resisters, capacitors, and more are manufactured under strict processes they can literally last many many years beyond the life of the end user needs.
Apple uses what they think are the best affordable electronics in most of what they make so the end user can afford it and enjoy it for a reasonably long period.
Once upon a time buying American meant high quality and buying Japanese or Korean (known as foreign) meant buying low quality. Remember Digital Research?
Turning your computer on and off every day may shorten some components life like HDD, Fan, Power Supply, and Battery.
However playing games that increase the temperature of you computer to maximum design capacity shouldn't effect the electronics life span. If the components exceed the design temperature(s) would effect the life span. And even at exceeded temperatures there are design safety factors which could be 1% to 10% of design?

My ipod was working just fine for the past 2 years and ever since upgrading to ios 6.1.3, i simply cannot play games or anymore such as Subway surfers, carrot fantasy, 4 pics 1 word, etc. I also noticed that i had 1.2 GB of free space on ios 5.1.1 but then decreased to 900+ MB after "upgrading" to ios 6.1.3. I then deleted one of my space-hungry apps (the sims freeplay) to clear up some space and now have 1.6 GB of free memory. Just a thought, could apple have purposely done this with their software update to actually make an older, phased-out product such as my ipod touch 4th gen work worse than it has in its previous versions of softwares to force you to scrap it for a newer product?
- Double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod.
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- iOS: Troubleshooting applications purchased from the App Store
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device. -
Can't watch video and play games that require flash player
I'm using windows7 family premium version
internet explorer 10 last version 10.0.5
exploitation system 64 bytes
flash player verson 11..700.202 the latest one
So as i say can't watch video and play games that require flash player, they keep asking me to install flashplayer... i did everything i read in the forums, unistall it, clean the memory, reinstall it, disabe active x etc... but still have the problem.
More specific about my problem is that: let's say that i'm trying to look at you tutorial video under thi forum Re: How do I fix Windows permission problems with Flash Player? i'm just seeing a black screen. So I'm able to guess where is the play button so when i push on that place, i can hear the sound of that video. Second step guessing where is the enlarge button, and when the screen is enlarged, magic i can see and hear the video.... So you figure that it's impossible to use my computer like that and guess right all the time, so....
Second fact, it seems that bug happened after an update (windows or explorer) and i even talk with a microsott tech who was not able to resolve it... But if i'm undoning the update and go back to a prior image, i have no problems with flash player anymore... it' been moths that i'm delaying my updates cause i cannot find any solutions.... So Please please please, help me .... don't know what's the problem is and i'm not a pro, don't know what to do. (Excuse my english it's my second language)
Thank youThe first thing I'd try is updating your video driver.
Windows: how do I update the device driver for my video/display adapter?
If you still have problems and since you're using Windows 7 x64, please check to see if you have the following Windows update installed:
KB2670838 – Platform Update for Windows 7 x64
If so, please uninstall it and try Flash Player out again. -
MacBook Pro heats up crazy while playing games
Hello all;
I know the heating up issue has been raised several times all over the internet. But none of the discussions has satisfied my the concerns I have with my system. So I am going to put my case a new, although I believe the answers are going to be the same as on other similar discussions.
I recently bought MacBook Pro (15 inch, 2.2 GHz, late 2011, OS X Lion) and also I am new to Mac. The system usually runs perfectly. I just have two issues:
i. Occassionally it freezes up when more then one apps are running. I have noticed this is usually when Firefox is running in the background. Also happened with Safari a couple of times.
But my main concern and query is the point no. ii (below)
ii. During the normal usuage the fans don't make a noise (even with multiple apps that are not burden on the RAM). The systems heat up is as normal as that of a PC while running on its normal situation. However, when I play games (like BioShock, Sims etc) Mac just heats up immensly and fans kick in. I have never seen/felt a computer get this hot before.

I know Firefox has a slight issue with the way it handles RAM, so does Chrome, it has to do with the add-ons and how the unused RAM gets returned for using for another program.
Safari might have a memory leak, it also could be now with 64 bit everyone is rushing out to grab as much RAM as they can, trying to turn their browsers into platforms.
After all, if you think about it, browsers are becoming so powerful that they can actually run software within them, so perhaps Apple is messing with Chrome and Firefox's memory so they can't grow too large and takeover? Just my thoughts.
ii. During the normal usuage the fans don't make a noise (even with multiple apps that are not burden on the RAM). 3D games (or anything 3D) works the graphics and if you have a dedicated video card (the 15" does, the 13" does not) then that heats up too, thus the fans go up.
CPU intensive programs will heat up the processors and the fans go up.
Mac's come with Intel processors and they come with integrated graphics which performs some graphics capability, but can't handle 3D very well at all.
So the way the Mac works with a dedicated video card is it uses the integrated graphics on the CPU for as much as it can then hands off to the dedicated video card.
What you can do is open your System Preferences > Energy Saver and turn off graphics switching, that will use your dedicated video card only, located separately from the CPU and thus concentrate less heat on one spot on the logicboard, you should have a cooler machine.
However 3D gaming will of course always heat the machine up, perhaps a lot less as your not using the integrated graphics which is lousy anyway.
Another issue is 3D games are usually produced for a specific OS version and they milk it, perhaps don't see the value of making a update that works with a new OS X version, rather concentrating efforts on the next version of the game.
So it's ideal to only run games that are designed for the OS X version your using. Which Apple changes the OS version often, now once a year with 10.8 coming out this summer, why there isn't a whole lot of 3D games for the Mac, not to mention you can't find or upgrade video card like on a Windows tower.
So with 3D games, OS stability (Windows remains the same for 10 years) AND the option to replace the video card is paramount.

MACBOOK 1.8 Mhz: Too limited for playing games in Windows?
I’m having a terrible time trying to play games in mi MacBook 1.8 MHz, in Windows, using the last version of bootcamp and 1GB of RAM. Some games don’t start; others crash during the execution, and with others, the whole windows crashes and got restarted.
I've reviewed many posts sent to the BootCamp forum, looking for a solution, but it seems those problems don't affect to the Macbook PRO users.
It seems that our Video Card (the MacBook Card) it's too limited, compared with the PRO video cards (a video memory problem or something related).
Has anyone had similar problems? Have you found any solution?
Thanks.
Macbook Mac OS X (10.4.7)the MacBook is hampered by a low-end graphics solution that relies on shared RAM instead of its own VRAM (although it has 64MB VRAM). About the only improvement you can make is to max-out your RAM to 2GB. Even then, you may not be very pleased, and many games may not work at all. Check the specs on the games to see how they handle the Intel GMA 950. Upgrading to 2GB is not cheap and (IMHO) not worth the $ just to get better gaming performance. The MacBook will never be adequate for that purpose.
Good luck!
