Increase screen resolution

I have a Power Mac G4 with Leopard 10.5.8 (ATI 9600 Radeon video card). I am using a 24" VGA Asus screen. The only resolution available in the display option pannel is 800x600. How can I increase the screen resolution?

Sorry I can't locate the file com.apple.windowserver.plist
My graphics card has two dvi ports and I am using a dvi to vga adapter
here's my G4/24"/VGA/Asus/LCD in 10.5.8...

  • Increasing screen resolution beyond 1440 x 900

Hello, is there a way to increase the screen resolution beyond 1440 x 900? The result I'm hoping for is one I can accomplish in Windows in that it creates a sort of virtual screen that becomes viewable when one moves the mouse pointer to that which is off-screen, thus bringing it on screen.
The entire desktop would shift to display only that 1440 x 900 of the, say, 1920 x 1200. I don't know what this is technically termed and I hope I've explained it well enough. Thanks!

Check out VirtueDesktops - OSX 10.5 Leopard has 'Spaces' built-in which is very similar

  • Increase screen resolution in terminal (no X Server)

    Hi
When you start ArchLinux, you enter in 'terminal mode' (how do you call it?), where you are asked username and password, then you usually type 'startx' to launch your DE.
Yesterday, I was installing NVidia drivers and for some reasons, the screen resolution increased also in terminal.... So I was able to see a lot more text in a single screen... but when I reinstalled Xorg and NVidia drivers, I lost everything...
    How can I re-enable it?
    Thank you.

Why I can't set higher resolutions, as in Xfce? because, using lrmi, the highest resolution I get is 1024x768....

  • Increase screen resolution in VBOX using Guest additions

    Dear all,
I have installed SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 as my VM in VBOX. NOw i want to increase my screen resolution from 800*600 to 1024*768.My base machine is MAC.Please help me. I have installed all packages.
    Regards
    Bobby

Screen resolution are two things: Monitor and Video driver. You will probably have to change your installed virtual monitor to a monitor that supports your desired resolution, in addition to changing the resolution of the video driver. Also in VM make sure you assign enough video memory. Normally 8 MB should be more than enough for true color SVGA.

  • How to increase screen resolution in Vista under boot camp?

I have installed Vista Home Premium under boot camp (OS X 10.5.7) but in preferences I can only get the maximum of 1280x960 while my screen resolution on SyncMaster P2250 in OS X is 1920x1080.
(I am using new Mac mini with NVIDIA GeForce 9400).
I have inserted Leopard disc in Vista and installed boot camp but still I can't make the resolution higher.

OK everything works fine! The problem was that after installation of Vista I was inserting old Leopard disc that I bought a year ago instead of inserting the Mac OS X installation disc that I got with new Mac mnini.
When I put the Mac OS X that was toghether with new Mac mini it installed missing driver and everything started working

  • How to increase screen resolution Solaris 10

    Hi,
Just installed S10..The monitor that I am using runs pretty high resolution but the highest option that I can choose is 1024x768...What is the easiest way to increase the selections?
Also where would I look to find audio drivers for this box? The speaker has a red line going through it...Speaker works fine with latest dev build of opensolaris, though...Thanks.

If you are mirroring the displays they will have the same resolution, if you are extending the displays you can have different resolutions for each display.

  • Screen resolution testing

    Hi everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this - and perhaps suggestions of resources to use.
Re: screen resolution testing for website display - I find that the various online tools all behave in a sort of strange way - and perhaps I'm not "getting" it.
Example - if I test my old website, www.robcosh.com on any of these services to see how it displays, selecting iPhone 5 as the size simply means they create a tall rectangle and use that as a window to view my page - where I would have to scroll up and down, or sideways.   This does not represent the reality in any way, shape or form!   My iPhone 5 shows my entire site whether it's in landscape or portrait position, and it scales automatically to fit the page.
With that, it seems these tools are useless to see how a site might behave with various screen resolutions.
Can any comment on this, and point me to tools that are accurate which I can trust the output from in order to evaluate my sites' appearance across a variety of resolutions?
    Many thanks!
    Rob

Designing between the traditional desktop computer platform and other types of devices, like smart phones, is not very simple at all.
While it is true any modern smart phone's web browser will automatically scale a "desktop" web site to fit its screen the phone user must use pinch-zoom techniques to make the page useful at all. When a desktop web page layout is scaled to fit the phone's screen the content on the desktop layout will often be too tiny to read and the navigation elements are too tiny to select with a finger. This is one of the reasons why so many web sites have separate "mobile" versions.
In recent years smart phones have radically increased screen resolution. Plenty of Android-based phones have 1920x1080 full HD resolution screens, some support higher resolution levels like 2560x1440. The phone screens are still the same physical size (big for a phone screen, but tiny in relation to modern desktop computer monitors), but they're packing in a lot more pixels into the same sized piece of screen real estate. This is complicating the situation for designing a mobile version of a web site. Some really old phones still in use have pretty limited resolution while some newer phones have better than 1080p resolution.
The traditional desktop platform isn't standing still either. A regular 960 pixel layout on its own probably isn't going to cut it anymore. HiPDI techniques are recommended to bridge the gap between the resolution levels of older computer monitors and the HD and better than HD settings used in newer monitors.
Solution? A fair amount of extra planning and work. Adobe Muse doesn't fully support a fully "responsive" web design approach, but it does support HiDPI and allows for separate mobile and tablet site generation. Vector-based graphics will grow in importance. SVG images can cleanly scale for a variety of screen sizes and work great in HiDPI layouts. But I think Adobe needs to do more work improving SVG support within Muse and Illustrator.

  • Msi u270 screen resolution only 1024x600?

How to increase screen resolution on netbook msi u270? its only 1024x600, any solution?

Not at all if you have the standard 11.6" screen being at a native resolution of 1024x600. Only the optional 12.1" or 11.6" HD screens feature 1366X768

  • Increase the screen resolution

    Hi All
Is it possible to increase the screen resolution in BDC?
My Max screen resolution is 1280 X 800 and my BDC screen operates at this resolution
    I want to increase it to 1400 X 1080
Is there a way i can pass these values?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi:
The 15.6" screen size model only has a display resolution of 1366x768 according to the product specs at the link below.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c04031365&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en...
There are no product specs listed for the 17" screen model but since they end in the same 111tx, I assume that the 17" display has the same resolution as well.
Nothing you can do to change that.  It is a limitation of the display panel hardware.

I have installed Oracle Linux Release 4 Update 8 for x86 (32 Bit) - DVD V16749-01 on vmaware for running oracle database 10g xe on my laptop. But its screen resolution is not greater than 800x600, (800x600 very small for my laptop which have 1366x768 screen resolution). Please provide any plugin or software that can increase the resolution of oracle linux 4 in vmare.
    my laptop: hp pavilion dm4 1222tx , O.S. windows 7 (home basic) 64 bit.
    thanks in advance.

You will need to extract the contents of the compressed tar.gz archive and run the vmware-install.pl perl script as sudo or root.
    - Open Terminal from the Applications/System Tools Menu inside the Guest OS
    - Type "su -" and enter the password for root
    - Type "cd /etc/yum.repos.d"
    - Type "wget http://public-yum.oracle.com/public-yum-el4.repo"
    - Edit public-yum-el4.repo and set enabled=1 of the corresponding section matching your OEL version.
    - Install additional software packages typing "yum install kernel-headers kernel-devel gcc"
    - Select Install/Upgrade VMware Tools from the VM/Guest menu
    - Type "cd /media/cdrom"
    - Type "tar -C /tmp -zxvf /media/cdrom/VMwareTools-8.8.2-590212.tar.gz"
    - Type "cd /tmp/vmware-tools-distrib"
    - Type "./vmware-install.pl"

  • Qosmio X500 - How to increase the screen resolution?

    Hi,
Does anybody know how to increase the screen resolution? My qosmio X500 is 1920 x 1080 and I want to raise it to 1920 x 1200.
    Thank you/Red

    Hey
    1) I think the screen brightness is about 180 nits for this qosmio model. If I change the graphics card, can I increase the brightness to 300 NITS levels? If yes, which card do you suggest? If not, how can I achieve this?
    2) When I view the screen in 100 % magnitude, then the texts are too small to read. But then when I view the screen in 125 % or higher, then the texts go blurry. Is there a way to avoid this?

  • Q5 drastic increase in screen resolution after OS upgrade

    So:
I updated the Q5's OS software to version10.3.1.1865 and after that the screen resolution has increased so much that the icons seem much smaller and my eyes hurt.
One of the closest solutions I found on here was from a post that complained about everything getting too big.  The solution to that was to access Accessibility in the settings and disable the screen magnification.
I enabled it and everything became bigger but it did not solve the high resolution.
Is there any way to turn it down or even download the old OS version?
    Thank you

You can reinstall the old OS but unless you have a backup from the previous OS you won't be able to restore a backup from this OS to the old one.

  • How can I increase the screen resolution on my T61; using Windows 7

I just recently purchased a Lenovo T61 from a guy on ebay.  I’m trying to figure out how to increase the resolution of the monitor, but can’t seem to figure it out.  Here are the technical specs of the machine:
    System
    Manufaturer: LENOVO
    Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T7300 @ 2.00GHz
    Model: 7658CTO
    Installed Memory: 2.00 GB RAM
    System type: 64-bit operating system
    OS Installed: Windows 7 Professional
    Number of processor cores: 2
    Storage
Size of hard disk:  160 GB
Media Drive:   CD- RW/ DVD MULTI Recorder (Can burn all types of CDs and DVDs)
    Graphics
Display adapter type:  Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family
Total available graphics memory:  358 MB
    Display adapter driver version:  8.15.10.1867
    Primary monitor resolution:  1280x800
    DirectX version DirectX 10
    Webcam: Integrated Webcam above display
I’m running Windows 7.  I don’t think there is an inherent/native resolution higher than 1280x800.  Is this right?  Can I download a driver to allow me to get to a higher resolution?  I’m using 1400x1050 on my older T42; this resolution is very nice.  I’d like to see this on my T61.  How can I do this?
    Thanks!
    Ryan---

    Hello ryguy7272,
it seems your tft has got a primary monitor resolution:  of 1280x800 only.
There´s no way to power that up, except at an external monitor.
Maybe that´s why the machine was a lot cheaper than others.

  • Itunes 11 keeps changing my screen resolution

I too am an itunes 11 sufferer!    Everytime I run it, it alters my screen resolution - I'd happily upgrade to the older, better, bug-free version that I was running before, but am afraid i might lose my library of music.
In trying to find a solution online i can't believe the number of issues with Itunes 11 that have cropped up. Does Apple really despise its customers so much  and hold them in such low regard that they could bring out such a flawed piece of software?
Does anyone have a solution to having to reset the screen resolution everytime I use iTunes?
    Thanks,

There isn't a way to increase the width of the iTunes window
You can resize any window by grabbing (click-hold) the three little lines in the bottom right corner and move it up or down, right or left.
    Is this what you mean?
BTW... the resolution of 1280 x 800 is what you would normally set your screen to.
