Increase system font size ?

Just bought a new imac 27". I find the system font size way too small and very stressful to my eye. Did quite some search on how to increase the font. It appears that there is no way to increase system font in OS X ? That really ***** big time.

Hello font2small_imac27 & welcome to the forums...
It appears that there is no way to increase system font in OS X
These options all work work for me on my iMac:
• Finder menu/View (or right click on Desktop) Show View Options....you can choose from 10pt to 16pt there.
• A typical method is to change the display's resolution... As well, in System Preferences/Appearance there is an option to [√] Use LCD font smoothing when available.
• You can change the text/viewing bigger/smaller in certain applications, such as Safari ( http://www.apple.com/safari/features.html ).
• You can also go to System Preferences/Universal Access/Seeing and apply 'Zoom' there.
• Using the 'Help' menu in the Finder, type in text size and follow the documentation available there.
• Use the menu/tab at the top for 'Downloads' to see what if any 3rd party applications are available - be certain they are fully compatible w/Snow Leopard or don't bother.
• Details on various options for menus, etc. around the OS can be studied here: http://www.ehow.com/how4516828adjust-icon-size-desktop-preferences.html
You might want to take a class at your nearest Apple Store for new users to help get the most out of your new iMac.

  • How to increase system font size in Lion

I just bought a new imac 27 inches display. At full resolution the font are sooo tiny. How can you increase the size of these system fonts without affecting the resolution?

You can use Tinkertool to change the system font size.

  • How do I increase system font size (for menus, etc.)?

I wear contacts, but still don't have perfect vision, and working on my mac all day as a researcher means that my eyes can get tired- especially since I work on double screens- my macbook air + a widescreen display on my desk. There are a lot of accessibility options in Yosemite, but I cannot see an option to simply increase the menu/system font size. It seems ridiculous that one can easily increase fonts in safari or other programs with a pinch-out motion, but there are NO possibilities for making menus and system text--which users have to decipher across their day and tasks--more legible. (I could never find this option in Mavericks either, but am surprised not to see it added in Yosemite, with all the smart, beautiful aesthetic changes).
So, how can I increase menu font size?
    Many thanks in advance!
    Emily

  • Is there a real way to increase the system font size yet?

I got a new Mac Pro (2013 model) to use with my Dell U2711 monitor which has a native screen resolution of 2560x1440.  After spending some significant time fighting with cables (HDMI and DVI will not allow for full native resolution due to a Dell issue, only Display Port works), I finally got my screen working at the full native resolution.  Since I am going from a previous resolution of 1920x1080, as you can imagine, the text is pretty small.
    I am running OS X Mavericks 10.9.1.
I searched the forums for a way to increase the default font size and found a ton of posts, but most posts were older or got the response "Change your screen resolution" which translates to "Drop your resolution to a non-native and clearly inferior mode" or buy some special computer reading glasses.  These are not real solutions for me.  I do professional photo editing so being able to have a high screen resolution is important.  With a great OS I would think there would have to be a way to increase the font size.  (Surely if Windows can do it, so can Mac OS).  I know I can do it for some individual applications like iTunes, Safari, Chrome, etc.  But I can't find a way to increase it for apps that don't have a font size option or for default mac applications like the action bar.  Is this an issue that just keeps being ignored or is there a solution yet?
With 4K displays already on the market and 8K ones being shown off at CES, if we can't control the default font size, are the next set of solutions going to be "Go buy a really big magnifying glass"?  If the current answer is still that I'm SOL, could we please get some feedback to the product group that this is a real issue and it's only going to get worse with higher res monitors coming.  I don't think many people will be happy dropping their 4K displays to 1080 resolution or lower just so they can read the text.

Download and run the free application TinkerTool (not "TinkerTool System"), select the Fonts tab, and change the font sizes.

  • How do I increase the font size in my email and maintain resolution.

Hi folks. Mr Newbie is seeking some help, I hope it is relatively straight forward, thanks
How do I increase the font size in my standard email and document views without losing resolution.  Right now my font size in email, headers and text is less than that on my iPhone, it rather defeats the point of having a 27" screen if most of it is blank and I have to sit with my nose to the screen to read email.  Thanks for your help, once you have stopped laughing.  C

Two things you can do to easily aid with readability in Mail are as follows:
    1) Increase the size of folders in the sidebar:
    a) select "system preferences" from the Apple menu
    b) select "general settings"
    c) select small, medium or large under "sidebar icon size"
    2) Increase the text in the main body of the email (both sent and received):
    a) select "preferences" from the Mail menu
    b) select "fonts and colors"
    c) adjust font size for "message list font" and "message font".  I have noticed this works properly while in classic mode, but in regular mode the message list font doesn't appear to change size.
Select classic mode by accessing Mail preferences and selecting the "viewing" tab.
Another shortcut is to right click on the toolbar, then select "customize toolbar", and then drag the "smaller / bigger" buttons onto the toolbar.  Now you can decrease and increase font size as desired on the fly.

  • How do i increase the font size on my macbook air

how do i increase the font size on my macbook air

Unfortunately Apple hasn't yet given us a resolution independant OS yet so there are two solutions: 1) poor and 2) sad. You can open System Preferences and select a lower resolution in the Displays tab. The result is a larger font which is slightly fuzzy. Or you can change the default font size or magnification in each program (that allows this). Unfortunately many programs don't allow it.
This problem (and my aging eyes) are why my next Mac notebook will be retina. They scale to other resolutions better than the Air does.

Finder>View>Show view options:  To change the icon & text sizes
System Preferences>Displays>Display:  Play around w/the resolutions to increase the Finder menu font size.
    System Preferences>Accessibility>Zoom is another option.
Browsers:  Check its Preferences to increase the font size as well as their menu bars.  Some have Aa or - + symbols to increase their fonts.

Paragraph breaks are good for readability. ;-)
Have you noticed any difference between your MacBook and others at the Apple store? Wondering whether this is a configurable setting at the system level, i.e., DPI.
You can default Firefox to a larger zoom level to avoid having to zoom every page. You'll still be able to adjust the size for individual sites as needed. It sounds as though you are aware of these add-ons:
    * Default FullZoom Level: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/default-fullzoom-level/
    * NoSquint: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nosquint/
There are some discussions about changing coming in Firefox 22 (I think) to address higher density displays like the Retina display. So perhaps there will be a built-in setting to address this in the future.

  • Increase of font size in list

I want to increase the font size of letters in the heading of my list output screen. How can I do it?

    hi,
Changing the fonts in Print using ABAP is not possible. as basic report output is a text editor.
By changing "Customizing of Local Layout" will only change in display screen and not in print.
One possible way to create a new printer formatr thry SPAD and use that format in while printing.
to know more details about SPAD
Using SPAD - SAP Spool Administration to print different paper size
The SAP spool system manages its own output devices. This includes mostly printers, but also fax and archiving devices. In order for you to use output devices defined in your operating system from the SAP System, you must define these devices in the SAP spool system.
this is a piece of code from SAP-IMG ...its about printing fonts...see if this helps u....
REPORT ZFONT NO STANDARD PAGE HEADING LINE-SIZE 80 LINE-COUNT 65.
    Start of print-control
    NEW-PAGE PRINT ON.
    PRINT-CONTROL FUNCTION 'SF000'.
WRITE: / 'This is CPI 20'.
    SKIP.
    PRINT-CONTROL FUNCTION 'SF020'.
WRITE: / 'This is CPI 6'.
    SKIP.
    PRINT-CONTROL FUNCTION 'SF008'.
WRITE: / 'This is CPI 12'.
Depending on your SAP printer device, this may also work
    PRINT-CONTROL FONT 1 LPI 6.
you can try to change font and LPI numbers
    WRITE: / 'font 1 lpi 6'.
    PRINT-CONTROL FONT 2 LPI 6.
    WRITE: / 'font 2 lpi 6'.
    PRINT-CONTROL FONT 3 LPI 6.
    WRITE: / 'font 3 lpi 6'.
    End of print-control
    NEW-PAGE PRINT OFF.
    *--- End of Program

  • How to increase the font size in macbook pro

  • How to increase the font size in the safari tool bar

    Hello,
I am trying to set-up Yosemite for my mom who is a senior.  The toolbar and address bar for safari seem to be quite small.  Does anyone know how to increase the font size in the tool bar and address bar?  I already figured out to make the font size bigger on a webpage which is nice but the rest of the interface, though pleasing to look at, is quite miniscule.
    Hope someone can help.

I too would like an easier way to do it. The only way that I have found  (& it works for all applications, desktops Document & Download files) is to decrease the size of your Screen display from 2560 by 1440 ( this is your "Default for display") to 1920 by 1080. This is accomplished by going to "Accessibility Preferences" in your menu bar or through Systems  Preferences and choosing the DISPLAY icon, then unchecking the "Default for Display" Setting and then check "Scaled".
Your screen resolutions will then appear in the drop down box & you can choose a smaller display (e.g. 1920 x 1440), then all print will appear larger on the screen.
If anyone knows a slicker way, I 'm all ears (actually "eyes" would be more appropriate.
    I hope this helps you.

From the Safari menu bar click View > Zoom In  or press Command + on the keyboard to increase the size of the page.
If that doesn't help, open System Preferences > Accessibilty > Settings then select Zoom on the left.
You can also increase the resolution on the dislplay. System Preferences > Displays > Display > Scaled
You can also get help by posting in the Apple Support Communities > Vision forum here.

  • How to increase the font size in list view

I have Aperture open in list view and even tho I have the slider all the way to the right, so the images are larger to see, the actual font size of the various topics in list view has not increased.  I have trouble seeing and need the font size to be made larger.  Within Aperture = don't want to do the change to the whole computer, just to the list view in Aperture.  Thanks.

Aperture does not support to increase the font size.  If you do not want to reduce the resolution of the display to make the fonts larger, you could enable Accessibility and activate a local Zoom.
This way you can zoom in on text, but your images will show in the best possible resolution.
The Accessibility options are activated from the System Preferences > Accessibility.
You can toggle zooming using ⌥⌘8,    zoom in using ⌥⌘=, zoom out using ⌥⌘-  .
