Increasing brush-size crashes Win 8 - when HDMI cable is connected - Why?

Photoshop Elements. Increasing brush-size crashes Windows 8 when HDMI cable connected to TV or data projector.  I'm using Asus N56V notebook with Nvidia 635M dedicated graphics card with latest driver.
Any ideas please?
Many thanks,
Clive  (UK)

Hi Brian,
Here's an update:
The nub of the problem has been determined by my computer expert as a conflict (as we suspected) between the graphics driver and screen resolution.  However the situation is far from dimple.  I'll be as brief as possible:
No matter how we approach the settings for the Nvidia driver, when using HDMI, the 'workings' of the compuer automatically reset the driver to either the inbuilt Intel driver and if that's deliberately 'disabled' it reverts to the even more basic Windows 8 driver.  As neither card/driver is 'dedicated', the sharing that occurs between the native resolution of the notebook display and the external display (even if this is set to a compatible value)  the the computer crashes.  It remains OK if a single dsipaly (internal or external) is selected.  Dual display (which I must have) is the problem.  My computer expert is going to contact Asus about this. He even tried setting the global setting to Nvidia only and it still didn;'t succeed.
I've since spoken with a colleague and he tells me that in the audio-visual community, this is a well known phenomenom with rexcent lapptops/notebooks no matter what to cost or spec - in so far as they ignor the 'dedicated graphics' when on HDMI in favour of the default (shared) driver and hence the problem. Apparently some notebooks are OK but one has to shop around and take pot luck.  What a state of affairs!
The Asus notebook works OK using the VGA socket but let's face it, I bought this hi-spec computer for HDMI usage.
This is the story to date.  It would appear that software is not the root cause.
I will continue to pursue the matter and find a resolutuion (no pun intended - or perahps it was!)
With all best wishes,
Clive.

  • Blinking HDMI menu items when HDMI cable is connected - Diagnosis?

I've been streaming live video through my Vixia HF G10 for the last year. Recently it has started to fail to send a signal through the miniHDMI out (or the capture card has failed to recognize it). I have noticed that when I connect my Vixia HF G10 to my Blackmagic Intensity Pro capture card, the HDMI options in the settings menu *blink*. Why is this? I can't find anything in the manual. I have already: 1. changed HDMI cords 2. reseated the capture card in the PC. 3. reset the camera. 4. added a signal repeater equalizer in line for the HDMI. Thanks for your help!

    Hi wolfpack!
    Thanks for posting.
When the connection status is blinking, this usually means there is a bad connection or the connection is not supported.  Typically, removing the extras in the connection or changing cables clears this right up.
What happens when you connect the camcorder via HDMI directly to a TV?

  • I will be using a HDMI cable to connect an Apple TV box and a Comcast cable TV box to my TV. My TV has only one HDMI port.

I will be using a HDMI cable to connect an Apple TV box and a Comcast cable TV box to my TV. My TV has only one HDMI port.
To do this I will need a 2x1 HDMI splitter or a 2x1 HDMI auto switch (preferred).
?Is there any Apple TV HDMI port voltage?
When using a HDMI auto switch to connect two devices to a HDMI TV, the
Auto switch cable box only works for components that do not output continuous voltage over HDMI port when turned off.
Do you know of any other solutions? Componets? Actual expierances?
    Full text below.
Cable : HDMI switches expand the number of available HDMI ports on a high definition television allowing connection of cable boxes, Blu-ray players, and game consoles. A side benefit is that cable clutter is also eliminated by running a single HDMI cable to your HDTV from a switch and relocating the HDMI ports to a concealed location. The problem with most HDMI switches is that you have to either get up to push a button, or hunt for the remote control, to switch sources. The true mark of any great switching component is an ability to perform its function and remain transparent in its operation. This automatic HDMI switch is a plug-and-play away from offering everything you are looking for in an HDMI switch. Select a single output from up to three devices for signal delivery to your HDTV. Smart operation provides complete control for connect-and-forget operation. Powering on a device gives it output priority over the other devices. By powering down the device in use, output priority is returned to the last powered on device. Note: Auto switch function only works for components that do not output continuous voltage over HDMI port when turned off.
Here is a typical HDMI 3-in 1-Out HDMI Auto Switch

    Hi Erico,
I tried what you said again but without success. I even updated the driver so that that audio driver is the same as the graphics driver i.e.. NVIDIA but this has not helped either:
Do you have any other ideas?

    Hello gman0700.
Welcome to the HP Forums. I understand you are unable to produce audio through an HDMI connection. I apologize for the late response, but I will do my best to assist you. Before anything else, please answer these questions:
    1. What is the current computer's operating system? Does the same behaviour occur on multiple operating systems?
    2. The title seems to imply that there is no audio when connected to a television, using HDMI. Does this only occur when you connect to a television? Will it occur if you connect to something else using HDMI?
    3. Have you tried connecting to a television using VGA or DVI? If so, what are the results?
As an additional suggestion, for now, I would review the television's manual to confirm that everything is correct from the television's standpoint.
Please post this information as soon as you can. Thank you posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • HT2646 Does the HDMI cable get connected to the TV or HD receiver if you have a Bose surround system

In setting up apple tv does the HDMI cable get connected to the HD reliever instead of in back of the tv when u have a Bose system?

Your best bet is to connect the AppleTV's HDMI to the Bose and the Bose HDMI to the TV. You could connect the AppleTV's HDMI to the TV and the AppleTV's optical to the Bose but optical (S/PDIF, specifically) does not have as much bandwidth as HDMI so you'd potentially have lower quality sound (from what I've read...I'm not an expert on audio).

Anyway, with the introduction of ios 8.x, apple stopped supporting older a/v cables. You need to get the latest a/v cable with the correct firmware. There is a little chip in the a/v cable. go to the apple store. Buy a new cable. Verify the cable works in the store.
some people report success with a full factory restore.
    Re-boot ipad.

  • Brush Disappears with Increased Brush Size

Having issues with my news CS4. When I increase my brush size, no matter if it's an eraser, stamp tool or anything else, the brush cursor or "circle" starts to disappear once the brush is more than 175 pixels in diameter. I've checked preferences and the brush tool presets and cannot find why this is happening.
    How do I fix this?
    Thanks, NASAphotographer

    Update your video card drivers.
This is a well documented problem. Also ensure that you have installed the Photoshop 11.0.1 patch.

  • Increase Brush size limit.

Camera sensor sizes are growing and now we have to deal with 7000+ pixel images, but the brush size doesn't go over 2500pix which makes it hard to produce smooth results when dealing with large areas. Easy to implement I guess.

i was just looking for the solution to this issue.... and came to this thread, i think there isnt any solution to it yet.
i hope Adobe will increase the brush size limit to like ..... 5000px? or 10k px would be great for working on large banners or posters.

  • How to increase font size in the report when emailed as PDF

How do I increase the font size of the report when I distribute the report as PDF to the users. I tried using different paper sizes in the LayOut tab in Broad Caster and Orientations. When I open the PDF from the mail I see the report shrinked and not readable, but when I magnify the report the numbers are visible with no loss in quality. I cannot give the users to print a shrinked PDF file. I would like to see a visiable font and print the same size what I see.

The size of the font is increased by selecting a bigger page size while emailing. This will automatically increase the size of the page.

  • Satellite X200 SLI crashes when HDMI cable is plugged

    Hi everybody,
I have X200-21K and since the very beginning the HDMI port doesn't work well - every time the HDMI cable is plugged in the blue screen appears and computer crashes. It behaves same in both SLI and non-SLI modes. The same result is even if I try to boot up with the cable already plugged in - in this case the DOS mode shows up ok on my TV but when Vista tries to load up it crashes again.
I really like the notebook but this starts to annoy me as I can't use the product the way I expected. In the previous thread somebody said it's going to be solved by drivers but there's no updated drivers available.
Does anybody have still the same problem or has somebody been able to solve this? Or do I have to place a warranty claim (I'd really like to avoid this)?
    Thanks for help.

    Hello
I recommend you to use different HDMI standards (HDMI 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.2a, 1.3). As far as I know there are different HDMI versions. Please talk with your local dealer and test it with some high quality cable.

  • Sound dosen't work when hdmi cable is in?

when i have Hdmi type cable in for monitor sound does not come out of laptop

    Hi @NigeTay66 ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Notebook not getting sound with the HDMI cable connected. Here is a fix when speakers not working Windows from Microsoft.
    1. Right click speaker icon (lower right hand corner)
    2. Select Playback devices
    3. Right click Speakers
    4. Enable it and set as Default
    5. Click Apply/Ok
If you close the all the screens then reopen them this should adjust the settings.
I would be happy to assist if needed as there are many models of HP Notebooks. I would need the model number.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Please respond with which Operating System you are running:
Which Windows Operating System am I running?
    Please let me know.

Hi, noordm. Welcome to the Discussions.
You wrote: "...crashing on reboot with a black screen of death..."Can you clarify what you mean by "black screen of death?"
For example, if you are seeing this message, that indicates a kernel panic.
If so, see my "Resolving Kernel Panics" FAQ. This FAQ includes step-by-step instructions for identifying and resolving some of the most common causes of kernel panics. The FAQ is a roadmap: start at the beginning and work systematically through the end, i.e. the "If all else fails..." section.

  • I used an HDMI cable to connect my MacBook Pro and my TV, however, my computer won't recognize that my TV is connected. What do I need to do to be able to watch a movie from my Mac on my TV screen?

My Macbook doesn't have an HDMI port, so I bought a converter. So I now I have my HDMI connected to my Mac and my TV. The problem is, I can't figure out how to make my computer screen show up on my TV. Do I need to download different software or update something? Or is it as easy as changing a setting?
When I go to my display settings, my computer screen shows up as an option, but my TV does not. I don't think my computer is reading it is connected. Please help me.
I will openly admit that I don't know very much about computers, so if you can help me, please break your explaination down for me. This is the info for my Mac:
    I have a Macbook Pro 13-inch,
    Mid 2010 OS X
    Version 10.9.3
Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256MB

I am assuming that you are using a Mini Display to HDMI converter and then a HDMI cable.
Have you opened System Preferences>Displays and selected Detect Displays?
    Ciao.
