Increasing disk size with Nw5.1 Sp8

I'm currently running a Dell SC430 with two 80gb SATA drives. The OS is Nw5.1, Sp8. I want to replace the non-system drive with a much larger one, maybe up to 1 to 2 Tb. Is there any limit in Netware on drive size? Is there any known hardware limit as well?

I believe 2 TB is the maximum size of an NSS partition, and I think you
can combine four of those for a max-size of an NSS volume (8 TB). With
that said, I doubt many NW 5.1 environments ever saw that kind of storage
and if it doesn't work then fixing it may not be fun.
Good luck.

    Hi,
    As I understand, you want to increase the size of the root partition (where you installed Solaris) which resides in c1t0d0s0. I think it can be done using Concatenations from Solaris Volume Manager (SVM).
    I have tried it in non root partition like /export/home and it is very easy.
    metainit -f d0 2 1 c1t0d0s7 1 c2t0d0s7 //this will create volume d0 as a concatenation
    growfs -M /export/home /dev/md/rdsk/d0 //this will grow the /export/home partition

  • Increase disk size for virtual server

    Hi,
    A virtual server system drive is currently at 90%full. How to safely allocate more disk space to the system drive of that virtual server without causing issues to the installed Operating systems on that drive.
    I read through the Virtual Iron documentation and nothing mention about increasing disk space for virtual server.
    Thanks in advance for response.

    Hi,
    I was hoping to increase the virtual storage of the drive attached to virtual servers and not the actually physical storage.
    I was looking around in it and found was able to increase the disk space by by editing the virtual storage disk.
    I tested creating a new disk (5GB), increase the disk space(10GB) and login to virtual server and extend the new disk with the unallocated disk space.
    It does seem to work and appear as 15GB.
    I just concern if windows operating is installed on that disk, will it cause any issue if I extend it with the unallocated disk space?
    Or it's safe to do so?
    Many thanks.

  • Increasing disk size in Parallels?

    I just migrated my old iMac to a new 27" quad core i5. I moved over my old Parallels configuration - parallels 5 with Win XP and am trying to do an upgrade to Parallels 6 and Win 7. Parallels 6 installs fine but when I try to add win 7 it tells me I don't have enough disk space allocated. I have a 1 terabyte drive but can't figure out how to allocate more to Parallels. Currently I have only a 7 gig allocation for my virtual machine. I have tried to use the Acronis disk program Parallels suggested but just don't have a clue on what to do.
    suggestions?

    By default, the Automatically option is selected. In this case, the total amount of RAM to be allocated to all running virtual machines is automatically calculated by the system based on the following main factors:
    the total amount of memory installed on your Macintosh computer and
    the amount of memory required by Mac OS X for its operation.
    The allocated amount of memory is shared among all running virtual machines.
    *You can configure the amount of physical memory for a particular virtual machine on the General tab of Virtual Machine Configuration.*
    You can redefine the default behaviour and manually set the amount of memory to be reserved for all active virtual machines. To this effect, select the Manually option and specify the needed value by:
    dragging the slider, or
    using the spin box arrows, or
    typing the value directly into the field

  • Increasing disk size in windows server 2003

    Hello,
    Am running a file server on windows server 2003. And i have 3 partitions as C, D and E. Where as D & E having 1 TB each. My company user documents are mapped to D as well as E. Now my D drive is running out of space and i have around 800 Gigs
    free space in E drive. I would like to move some of the free space from E drive to D. Am bit afraid to use diskpart command to extend the volume also not sure whether diskpart will help me.
    Can someone please guide me..
    Thanks in Advance
    NAZeeR

    Hi,
    "Extend Volume" only allows you to extend a drive into contiguous unallocated space (on the right). In this case you can only merge unallocated space to D drive. If you want to merge noncontiguous unallocated space to C drive, there are two solutions. Please
    refer to the article below:
    How to Merge Unallocated Space to C Drive without Losing Data?

  • How increase external disk size used for an existing file system, Solaris10

    Configuration:
    Server: Sun T5220
    S/O: Solaris 10 5/08 s10s_u5wos_10 SPARC
    Storage: EMC AX4-5
    EMC PowerPath: PowerPath Version 5.2
    I have the following scenario:
    In AX4-5 storage array, I created two LUNs into RAID Group 10, with Raid Type1/0:
    LUN 101: 20Gb
    LUN 102: 10Gb
    Both LUNs were added to Storage Group (SG1) that includes two Servers (Server1 and Server2); both servers have Operating System Solaris 10 5/8 and Power Path.
    The servers detect both LUNs across two paths. With Power Path were created a virtual path (emcpower0a, emcpower1a) to access to each LUNs respectively.
    We have mounted two file system /home/tes1 over emcpower0a -> LUN101 and /home/tes2 over emcpower1a -> LUN102.
    Filesystem size used avail capacity Mounted on
    /dev/dsk/emcpower0a 20G 919M 19G 5% /home/test1
    /dev/dsk/emcpower1a 10G 9G 1G 90% /home/test2
    I want to increase the space in file system /home/test2, without lost the information that I have stored and using the same LUN, LUN 102. To do this I start with the following steps:
    1-     Create new LUN, LUN 103 with 15Gb into RAID Group 10. Result: OK, I have available space in RAID Group 10.
    2-     Add LUN 103 to LUN 102, using concatenation option. Result: OK. This action creates a new metaLUN with the same characteristics of LUN 102, but with new space of 25Gb.
    After to do these actions, I want to know how Solaris recognize this new space. What I need to do, to increase the size of file system /home/test2 to 25 Gb. Is that possible?
    I reviewed the description of each disk using format command, and the disks not have any change.
    Could anyone help me? If you need more detail, please do not hesitate to contact me.
    Thanks in advance.

    Robert, thank a lot for your know how. You helped me to clarify some doubts. To complete your answer, I will add two more details, based on my experience.
    After to execute, type -> auto configure and label, the disk was created with different partitions like root, swap, usr, like this:
    Volume name = < >
    ascii name = <DGC-RAID10-0223 cyl 49150 alt 2 hd 32 sec 12>
    pcyl = 49152
    ncyl = 49150
    acyl = 2
    nhead = 32
    nsect = 12
    Part Tag Flag Cylinders Size Blocks
    0 root wm 0 - 682 128.06MB (683/0/0) 262272
    1 swap wu 683 - 1365 128.06MB (683/0/0) 262272
    2 backup wu 0 - 49149 9.00GB (49150/0/0) 18873600
    3 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    4 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    5 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    6 usr wm 1366 - 49149 8.75GB (47784/0/0) 18349056
    7 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    This was not convenient because all information stored appear in the first slice and growfs not work if appear root or swap slice into the disk, for that reason was necesary to recreate manually every slice with partition command. The final result was this:
    Part Tag Flag Cylinders Size Blocks
    0 unassigned wm 0 - 49149 9.00GB (49150/0/0) 18873600
    1 unassigned wu 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    2 backup wu 0 - 49149 9.00GB (49150/0/0) 18873600
    3 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    4 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    5 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    6 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    7 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    Now, execute again the label command to save the new information.
    Mount file system and execute:
    growfs –M file_system mount_point to expand the file system to 9Gb.

  • How to Increase disk image size of SAM

    Hello,
    I am trying to increase the disk image size. I am trying to increase to about 6G, but SAM just refused to load the image.
    So, is there a limit in SAM about the virtual disk size? Or is it limited to the physical memory of the system?
    I have read the thread http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5239257&tstart=30 and http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=837&threadID=5286038 about enlarging the disk image.
    I am using OpenSparc T2 Arch 1.2 and the int12 boot bundle. I am wondering if I should change to the sasdisk for a try.
    It is strange, that I previously ran the simulator on a Solaris Express (actually 5.11), and it worked fine.
    But now I changed to the Solaris 10, then it failed.
    Thank you.
    Jim

    As it turns out, the way to make the image appear larger on the page is to edit and increase the size of the signature "box" on the pdf (under Forms > Add or Edit Fields), to considerably larger than the form might indicate.  Otherwise, the signature is constrained to the just the size of the small field on the pdf.  Interestingly, as soon as you do so, the signature appears "bolder", likely just because there is more of it.  Thanks for your suggestions!

  • Is it possible to increase the disk size of a vm's system disk in ovm 2.2.2

    I am running OVS 2.2 and OVM 2.2.2 - I have imported a OEL 5U6 template and created a machine to try and install OHS on .. unfortunately at about 95% through the install I run our of disk space - so I want to be able to increase the size of the drive... unfortunately the templates from edelivery dont seem to have lvm volumes so I cannot simply add a 2nd drive and extend the partition that way.
    any help on how I can get round this is appreciated.

    It may be that you need to do that in the storage section in OVM 2.2 - I have updated to 3.x as soon as it was released. If you are not able to expand the virtual disk itself, you can also create a new virtual disk and create a LVM pv on that one and add it to the LV of the system volume.

  • Building a dvd with custom disk size (disk, ISO, or dvd folder)

    My goal at the end of all this is to get a DVD format of video at 6mbps with menu's to be burned to a blu-ray 25GB disk.
    Using Encore CS6 on a Windows 7 (4.7Gzh 8-core, 16gb ram @2400mhz)
    1st attempt:  I used a bluray disk and tried to burn a dvd format and it ejected my disk and said please insert a black dvd. (used custom disk of 25GB showing extra space available)
    2nd attempt: I thought perhaps I would build it to an ISO (also tried dvd folder) to burn later. it responded with an error message saying, "disk capacity is too small - building navigation failed"
    I dont care how I can get this to work but I would like to get all the video and menu's onto a single disk. Encore limits the "custom disk size" to 99GB so I assume it should work for 25GB (23.2GB).
    The reason I dont want to make a bluray format is because it requires high bitrate and the video is so old it would be a waist of space. I dont need 720p of video from 1935. (unless I can make a bluray format at a 6mbps)
    Thank you for any help you can provide
    bullfrogberry

    You can do this in Encore.
    I am assuming you are only picking presets, and not customizing one. You pick prests in the Transcode Settings dialog. Do you see the "Edit Quality Presets" button? Pick it, customize one by setting the bitrates to get the results you want, then SAVE IT as your own. Then pick that in the transcode setting. (In the transcode setting image, you can see my custom example "Stan Custom 4Mb CBR".) And yes, you can select all your video assets and apply this custom preset to all of them at once. I would do one short one to see if you are getting in the ball park. I would do 2 samples: one in MPEG2-Bluray and one in H.264-Blu-ray. (I'd follow Richard's recommendation to  you and use H.264.)

    I'm trying to set up a demo for a meeting. I want to show how
    you can increase the size of the video.
    Example:
    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1532523169750528353
    There are two buttons in the bottom right corner of the
    player that will increase the video size.

    I havn't tried this but I would thinkg that this could work:
    If you have a video object on your stage (the object that the video
    actually plays in) you could probably make a button that simply
    changes the dimensions of it such as:
    setProperty("theVideoPlayer",_height, 240);
    setProperty("theVideoPlayer",_width, 320);
    The movie should adjust to fit the screen, however if you
    make the movie larger than or a different aspect ratio than the
    original, it will be blurred or distorted respectively. Make your
    original movie, therefore, at the largest size you want it to be
    seen. Keep the aspect ration the same always.
