Increasing headphone volume in Logic??

How do I increase the volume coming through my headphones via my M-Audio Audio Interface while using Logic? The volume is cranked on the AI unit (for headphones), the recording levels are OK (not awesome), but the volume through the headphones is POOR.
I go through my computer headphone outs directly when using Garageband (and the sound is AWESOME), but can't seem to do this with Logic. Nor can I use the AI for monitoring with GB (not that I want to right now with the volume being so poor through the AI).
Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
Thx!!
J.
Preferred solutions (in order):
1. I can use my headphones through the Audio Interface for both Logic AND GB and the volume kicks ***
2. I use the computer heaphone out for both and the sound kicks ***.
3. I usethe AI sound for logix and the sound kicks ***, and I use the computer out for GB and the sound kicks ***.

open the software that you installed for the M-audio interface (you will find it in the applications folder) ...click on the output tab... there should be volume faders for the headphones...also check if the output routing is correct
Which M-audio interface are you using?

  • Increasing bounce volume in Logic

Noobie question here, but why is it that when I increase the overall volume of my track in Logic, whether it be from a compressor or limiter, it never sounds louder when I bounce it and play it back in iTunes? I'll add adaptive limiters and comprressors and it obviously sounds louder within Logic, but once I bounce it out, it doesn't sound any louder than other versions I bounce without the compressors and limiters.  I know Pro's have tons of equpment and years of experience and really I'll never be able to get it to sound like their stuff, but shouldn't it get at least a little bit louder?

Make sure Normalize is off in the bounce dialog.
Also, make sure ALL of the iTunes (audio enhancement) features are turned off.
Including: Sound Enhancer and Sound Check.

  • Increasing the Volume of a Garageband Recording in Logic Express 8

I'm new to Logic Express, but I'd like to use it to increase the volume of a multi-track recording that I made in Garageband. (Of course, there may be a way to increase the volume of the recording IN Garageband; however, if so, I don't know how to go beyond the 6 db level that seems to be the max for each track.) Here's what I tried to do: I imported the mixed-down, AIFF audio file that I made in Garageband into Logic Express and then I pushed the master volume slider to the maximum. I then saved and exported the file from Logic Express as another AIFF file (with a different file name, of course), thinking that the new recording would be louder. It wasn't. Any idea what I might try next? Thanks in advance for any help.

I've found an answer to my own question. I simply imported the recording that I made in Garageband into a new Garageband file and then turned up the volume. I'd still like to know how to do this in Logic Express, though, since I'd like to move to that more sophisticated program.

  • Headphone volume too low

I have recently purchased the Z3, particularly for its advertised audio features.
Unfortunately, the audio volume does not go loud enough in all 3 sets of headphones I have tried.
    Is this normal?

I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your sound quality. Please note that when you use a headphone, make sure you open walkman and increase the volume from there. You will not get this notification if you increase the volume without having the walkman app open. A pop up will say that "going above the volume limit is not safe etc." Make sure that you accept the risk and the volume should increase. Also check the settings in walkman, enable ClearAudio. Finally, make sure the volume on your headphone (if applicable) is the highest.
    Good luck.
The volume is much too low and for a phone this expensive i would expect better ,and there is no notification
allowing one to increase the volume when up full like there used to be ,and quite honestly the  decision should be mine on how low or high  the volume should be ,and there is still time to send this phone back ,which might act as a wake up call for Sony ,best wishes Brian.

  • Need to increase output volume

I am recording a voice over and my audio is coming in at about -15db. After normalizing and using a compressor at about -5db, my levels peak between -5db and 0db. When i bounce down my track to an mp3 it is not coming out loud enough. How do increase the volume of my mp3? My mp3 will eventually be used on a website.

    Hi EXP,
Before bounce, go to the "master fader" down, just above the click, select it,
Click and hold on Inserts arrow (or in the word itshelf) >logic express>mastering>choose the style you need.
This adds Gain, ChanEQ, Limiter, PresMultP, in a word, it's great for you to have a knolendge on how to do it.
Give it a try, in your case a only a Gain will do what you need, but play with the plug-ins to ear the diference for yourself or just bypass some.
    best regards,
    Jorge

  • Satellite T110-11U - Increase the volume

I have tried everything to increase the volume on my brand new laptop but I have had no luck, I am assuming the speakers are just inadequate. Nice one Toshiba.
I have also tried plugging headphones in and the little speaker icon comes up with and X on it saying 'no audio output device is installed'.

    Try this..
Right click the speaker in the 'system tray', bottom right.
    Choose "sounds"
Choose the "playback" tab and highlight the "connexant pebble speakers "
    Ignore "configure" and choose "properties"
In the "levels" tab, whack the slider up to max
hit the "balance" button and put the sliders up to 100 for left and right
Now on the "enhancements" tab, UNtick everything.
    Try it now.
Worked a treat for me, is all I can tell you.
Tinny, for sure - as you'd expect - but plenty enough volume ..
Within reason - you won't annoy the neighbours with it.
Unless you smack 'em around the head with it.
    That would work.
    Good luck..

  • Any advice on increasing the volume on my Classic?

I have recently bought an iPod classic for the first time.
The volume is a real disappointment and is so low on certain tracks and in certain places eg whenever there is a deal of background noise, that it is almost unlistenable.
I have tried to turn the volume up on iTunes via file/get info/volume adjustment, maximise the volume on my iPod before synching, disable Sound Check on my iPod but nothing works.
It may be that the source of material on my iTunes is varied - emusic, iTunes store, CDs etc - but I would have expected to be able to adjust this if it were an issue.
I would welcome advice on the matter - it is ruining my enjoyment of my new purchase.
    Many thanks
    John

The problem is the varying volume on the input sources. The approach I've taken is to do the volume adjustment for each individual file in iTunes (it's one of the tabs when you look at the attributes). That increases the volume for playback through the headphones and the classic itself, but not iTunes. You can do "equalize volumes", but that just adjusts the same slider. ON the Classic itself, disable the sound check. It can also be the quality of your headphones -- you can get headphones with additional amplification.
(Lastly, it could be all that loud music you listen to :-)).

  • N95 8GB: Increase sound volume by steps of 1

    Hi,
in a very silent environment it is not possible to listen to any kind of music on the N95, because a volume level of 10% is just to much. I would like to request the possibility to increase the volume level by steps of 1 instead of 10.
    Cheers,
    --videoschabe

    Sorry to hear that.
It was bound to happen sometime that someone was going to find a way to abuse the rating system.
EDIT: On the topic. One minor thing. The 20 step volume only works when headphones are connected, in speaker mode, bluetooth or others it's back to 10 step.

  • Increasing the volume of tracks on the iPod Nano

I've clicked the option on iTunes to standardise all the song volumes, but this means that all the songs on my iPod are now relatively quiet and I have to turn the volume up to full (if background noise is loud) to hear my music and even then it is sometimes not loud enough. Does anyone know how to increase the volume of the tracks when they are passed to your iPod?

    Ah, unfortunately not.
As you posted in the nano first gen forum, I mistakenly assumed that's what you had.
goPod doesn't work (as yet) with the second gen nano.
There's nothing you can do. Boosting the songs volume using iTunes won't overcome the cap I'm afraid.
You might find that turning off the soundcheck feature raises the volume a little, as would using lower impedance headphones.

  • IS THERE A WAY OF INCREASING THE VOLUME ON A USB DOWNLOADED WITH I TUNES? WHEN I PLAY MUSIC FROM IT IN MY BMW IT IS NOT VERY LOUD.

IS THERE A WAY OF INCREASING THE VOLUME ON A THUMB DRIVE DOWNLOADED WITH ITUNES MUSIC? WHEN PLAYBACK ON BMW RADIO, EVEN WITH THE RADIO VOLUME AT MAX, MUSIC IS NOT VERY LOUD.

Can't answer the query, since I don't use thumb drives and my volume's very responsive. That said, please don't post using ALL CAPS. That's considered shouting and is very disconcerting.

  • Whilst playing a selection from a CD I've put in my CD drive, I select Controls and then wish to increase the volume.  It tells me to Press Control and then Up.  Where is the Up button please ?  Thank you.

My question is how do I increase the volume when playing a CD in iTunes.  The volume slide is at full, but when I press Controls, it tells me to press Control and UP.  Where is the UP on my PC or is it on the screen ??
    Thank you.

It means the UP arrow on your keyboard. Depending on your keyboard, it is usually located on the right hand side of the keyboard, either with the numbers keys or below the Enter (Return) key.
However, Control/Up will simply attempt to move the slider in your iTunes programme further up. If the slider is already at the top, then those keys will have no effect, since the iTunes volume is already at maximum. Perhaps your computer's volume controls need adjusting.
In Windows XP, I believe (if I recall correctly) that the volume control is in Start/Accessories/ and either Volume or Mixer. In Windows 7, it's in Start/Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Adjust Sytem Volume.

  • ALSA - Master volume no longer having an effect on headphone volume

I use ALSA and have both my 'front' (speakers) and 'headphone' audio volume set to max. Then I control the two by adjusting the master volume.
Since my last system update this worked fine however now when I change the master volume it only affects the sound coming from my speakers and my headphones are constantly at max unless I specifically change the headphone volume in 'alsamixer'. This is inconvenient since I have the master volume controlled by hotkeys.
I know I can work around this and hotkey my controls to change both the master and headphone volumes but this leaves room for things getting out of sync. Is there a way to revert back to the old method?

    Hi-
"Essentially" a clone and a clone are not the same. There are alot of things that don't get copied when you simply drag folders. Pathways to aliases are one of them.
Use SuperDuper! (the best IMHO) or Carbon Copy Cloner to get real bootable clones of your system and files.

  • Headphones volume controller not working on new macbook pro

    Hello,
I recently purchased a new macbook pro (15" late 2013) and just noticed that when plugging my headphones (beats solo HD), the volume controller in the headphones doesn't change the volume of the laptop. The headphone controller works fine on my iphone, and on my older macbook pro (2010, running on mavericks too). I checked the Sound settings under System Preferences, and under the Input tab, the new macbook doesn't recognize the headphone microphone either, which my old macbook pro still does. In terms of sound, the headphones work well, and under the Output tab, the Headphones appear, as normal. The sound can also be adjusted using the keyboard keys and the volume adjust on screen, but not with the headphones volume controller, which seems odd to me.
Is there a way to fix this?
    Thanks for your time!
    Melissa

    Hi,
I also noticed this... when I use my old earphones (the white Apple ones that come with the iphone) on my new laptop, everything works fine, including the microphone, volume control, skipping songs... etc. But my other headphones are not recognised at all, just as audio output and nothing else.
My old macbook, however, still fully recognizes both my old earphones and my "troublesome" Beats headphones, even after the latest system update, as does my iphone
So I still don't know what is happening.
Just telling you this so that you make 100% sure your earphones are faulty before discarding them!

  • How do you increase/decrease volume on an iTunes song?  Also, some songs get cut off before they are over.

This is in reference to Follow Up 286560206; under the control tab on "Libraries" the drop down indicates that a song can be increased in volume by pressing ctrl + up and decreased by pressing ctrl + down, but no matter how I try it nothing happens.  Also, some songs get cut short, and once I saw an option on how to lengthen the play time on a song, but I can't remember how to get back to this screen.  Thank you.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app (or video app) on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.
