Increasing RAM

I'm thinking of increasing my RAM from 1.5GB to 2.GB in my iMac 2.1 Ghz.
Will there be a noticeable increase in performance? Any idea in what areas those would be?
What type of programs would most benefit from this?
I'm just now learning the iMac too.

I'm not familiar with that brand, I buy from [macsales.com] and I believe they guarantee all their RAM [http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/apple/memory/iMac/G51.9GHz_2.1GHziSight] Since you have a 2,1 GHz, I am assuming it's an iSight?

As this is production system, you better go with SAP's recommendations.
You do Zero memory  (Default memory parameters) open an OSS message and probably
you can do quick sizer modeling also.

Your only option is to sell the one that you have and buy a new one with 8 GB of RAM.

  • Increase RAM usage

In the pref file ti states that: "Note: After Effects will not use more that 2GB of RAM... See After Effects Help for information about enabling this option."
I have 4 GB ram. I have searched AE Help, Microsoft, adobe and Google, ..,. for 3 hours now. I cannot find out HOW to do this. Everyone talks about it but no one tells HOW.
I really would appreciate it if someone, anyone would be kind enough to give me a hint as to where I might fine information on HOW to do it. It is so frustrating that Adobe help files does not tell you how to find anything or use the search terms in stating that you can find something. It sure would make it easier to use their programs if they stated how. But maybe it is just that I am not a tech guru, only a lowly user.
    Thank you,

  • Does increasing ram improves game performance?

does increasing ram improves game performance of my MBP 13" 2012??

Using Activity Monitor to read System Memory & determine how much RAM is used
Adding RAM only makes it possible to run more programs concurrently.  It doesn't speed up the computer nor make games run faster.  What it can do is prevent the system from having to use disk-based VM when it runs out of RAM because you are trying to run too many applications concurrently or using applications that are extremely RAM dependent.  It will improve the performance of applications that run mostly in RAM or when loading programs.

  • Just bought a new Canon Vixia HF R300.  It looks like I have basically two recording modes--either AVCHD or MP4.  I have a year old Mac Mini on Lion with increased ram.  I edit on iMovie and upload to You Tube.  Which recording mode would be best?

    Hi...
I just bought a Canon Vixia HF R300 camcorder.  It looks like it gives me a choice of two recording modes AVCHD or MP4.  I will be uploading onto a year old Mac Mini with the Lion Operating system and increased ram.   I will be editing in iMovie '11 then uploading to You Tube.  Which recording mode should I use?  Obviously I'd like to get the best quality but I also want it to show well on You Tube.   What do you think?  Thanks for the help.  Bill

    Hi
What program can you use to convert AVCHD to a DVD format?
Share to File (in iMovie) - AND AS 480p - NOT Higher as DownScaling will be done badly.
Use this file in iDVD or Roxio Toast™ or what DVD Authoring program You've got.
To make a VIDEO-DVD You must use a DVD Authoring program - to get the right compression format AND Structure - It is a MUST.
There are free alternatives - but resulting DVD hasve been far from what quality iDVD (and Toast™) will deliver.
To get best possibly DVD - also this counts.
    - DVD brand used - I only Verbatim
    - DVD type used - I only DVD-R Single layer (4.7Gb)
(DVD+R works for many and DVD-R/W usually don't work OK and Double Layer also are a problem to it self)
    - BURN SPEED - I set this as low possibly (usually x2)
    - Free Space on Start-Up Hard Disk - MATTERS - I never go less than 25Gb
    Good Luck
    Yours Bengt W

I increased Physical memory(RAM) of my database server .My database has the previous setting.
Do i need to increase SGA_Target of my database that colud use more memory? If your database working properly without any issues/performance, Then no need to change.
Here nothing related to SGA_TARGET, if you want to increase memory for ORACLE instance, You have to increase SGA_MAX_SIZE , Moreover this is static value, you can change either in PFILE/SPFILE but not in memory , you have to bounce the instance for immediate changes.
SGA_TARGET is dynamic, once you set SGA_MAX_SIZE, then SGA_TARGET can grow upto SGA_MAX_SIZE.

  • Imac (Intel) 2.66mz 24inch Can I increase RAM?

    Hi
I have an Imac(Intel) from 2009/2010 and am, I believe, almost at the current RAM limit. I was looking to increase the RAM having been told by the Apple store (when I purchased the machine) how easy it was. I checked the Apple Store site to buy RAM but it says 'not available for this family'. How do I increase RAM?
    Thank you.
    Running OS X Mavericks

I do not recommend you to buy RAM from the Apple Online Store. It is too expensive and it is the same RAM you can buy from other sources.
First of all you need the exact iMac model you have. To check this, open  > About this Mac > More Info, and you will see your iMac model below "iMac".
Then, buy the RAM for your iMac model. I recommend you to buy it at OWC or Crucial

  • How to increase RAM & Hard Disk a form at run time can use?

Question: How to increase RAM & Hard Disk a form at run time can use?
    Explanation:
I have a problem with a form at run-time. I guess this is due to shortage of RAM/Hard Disk. I want to increase these things so that the form can use more RAM/Hard Disk and it does not crash/cancel. The reason is that when I change/toggle TOOL --> Preferences --> Runtime, Buffer Records and Array Processing parameters, the problem is rectifies intermittantly. That is there is no fix combination of above-mentioned parameters to rectify the problem. After lot of attempts, it gets resolved but only temporarily. Next time I have to modify the form, I get the same problem.
    Please help.

I am still waiting for an answer to the above question.
May be Oracle Corp. or anyabody, please guide.

  • Increase RAM in a Lenovo 3000 N500-3DG

Hello.  I've already bought a new notebook Lenovo 3000 N500-3DG, which has this memory RAM: 2x1GB / max.4GB SODIMM 667MHz PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM. I'm not an expert on computers and I wonder if someone could help me:
    1) I'd like to increase my RAM. What would you recommend me, to add one or two GB?
    2) Which brand (and specific model) of RAM should be better for this notebook?
    3) How can I install them on my computer? Could someone who have made it before explain me how to do it step by step (and if it were possible with graphics, draws or images).
Thanks for your help and excuse my not correct English.

    Hello ERIXX and all people,
I apologize for not speaking in English

  • Does increasing RAM affect battery performance?

I have a question about increasing the amount of RAM in a MacBook Pro (latest model unibody 15" i7 processor).
If I increase the amount of RAM in this laptop from 4Gb to16 Gb, should that in and of itself result in a decrease in battery performance? This is assuming no increase in number of active programs, etc.
A friend of mine was told by an Apple employee that just increasing the total RAM in a laptop would result in the battery draining more quickly. I am no computer genius, but that does not sound right to me? After all, why should the battery work harder if the excess RAM is not being used at the time.
    Any input would be welcomed.

I have a Mid 2010 MacBook Pro with a 250GB hard drive that is almost 80% full. The "genius" told me the excruciatingly slow downs were due to a too full hard drive, but didn't mention memory. I remembered later that I had never upgraded from the original 4GB RAM. This is the only computer around that era that will take 16GB RAM, so I decided to max it out three days ago. Performance has increased dramatically, but battery life has halved. The original battery was giving me about seven hours, now only about three or four. Right this minute the only open apps are Safari and the activity monitor, and my total memory usage is 6.76GB. The top three users of memory are

Parent process of kernal task is kernal task (0), parent process of MediaLib and IconSvc is launchd (1). Note, those three together use more than one-third of the original 4GB RAM. The hard drive was constantly being used for virtual RAM until I upgraded. Try opening iMovie under those consitions and you will see a lot of spinning lollipop. I would hardly call opening Safari and iMovie together overusage. I think anyone should upgrade and to the maximum, but I think it will definitely affect battery life. And kappy, i kind of wonder if rtmitchell's field is communication or human relations, since rtmitchell was so courteous and clever. Don't know. I am no computer genius eiher. Don't need an answer, just want to let everyone know my own experience with RAM draining battery. Hope you'll be nice if you answer.

  • Increasing ram battery

    hello
does increasing the speed of the ram decrease the battery life of a laptop because mine was upgraded to 1gb

yes you are alright because and electronic device needs supply which already loaded on power battery, and as much as you use more capacity on these rams the power consumption will raise.

  • Increase RAM in dv6-7011tx from 6GB to 16GB

    Hi,
I just bought HP Pavilion Dv6-7011Tx Notebook PC 2 months back.
It came with 6GB of RAM. Now I need 16 GB which I believe, the notebook supports.
Since its under warranty which is still under process, I need to know how & from where can I get the RAM increased.
Also while buying the product there was an option to upgrade the Harddrive to a bit bigger capacity, so from where can I get all this info for upgrading the hardware.
    Thanks.

Here is a link to the service manual for your notebook.  There are a few sections which will be helpful for you.
Under "Specifications" there will be a section dedicated to the hard drive.  This section will provide you the information you need to select a compatiable hard drive.  The section named "removal and replacement procedures" will show you how to disassemble the notebook to upgrade the RAM and hard drive.
As far as finding parts you should be able to use any hard drive as long as it meets those specifications.  With memory that is a little different.  I want to make sure I suggest the exact type of memory that your notebook will need.  Could you post the full model number of your notebook for me please?  I hope I've been helpful!
Please click the white star under my name to give me Kudos as a way to say "Thanks!"
