Increasing screen resolution beyond 1440 x 900

Hello, is there a way to increase the screen resolution beyond 1440 x 900? The result I'm hoping for is one I can accomplish in Windows in that it creates a sort of virtual screen that becomes viewable when one moves the mouse pointer to that which is off-screen, thus bringing it on screen.
The entire desktop would shift to display only that 1440 x 900 of the, say, 1920 x 1200. I don't know what this is technically termed and I hope I've explained it well enough. Thanks!

Check out VirtueDesktops - OSX 10.5 Leopard has 'Spaces' built-in which is very similar

  • Increase screen resolution in terminal (no X Server)

    Hi
When you start ArchLinux, you enter in 'terminal mode' (how do you call it?), where you are asked username and password, then you usually type 'startx' to launch your DE.
Yesterday, I was installing NVidia drivers and for some reasons, the screen resolution increased also in terminal.... So I was able to see a lot more text in a single screen... but when I reinstalled Xorg and NVidia drivers, I lost everything...
    How can I re-enable it?
    Thank you.

Why I can't set higher resolutions, as in Xfce? because, using lrmi, the highest resolution I get is 1024x768....

  • Increase screen resolution in VBOX using Guest additions

    Dear all,
I have installed SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 as my VM in VBOX. NOw i want to increase my screen resolution from 800*600 to 1024*768.My base machine is MAC.Please help me. I have installed all packages.
    Regards
    Bobby

Screen resolution are two things: Monitor and Video driver. You will probably have to change your installed virtual monitor to a monitor that supports your desired resolution, in addition to changing the resolution of the video driver. Also in VM make sure you assign enough video memory. Normally 8 MB should be more than enough for true color SVGA.

  • How to increase screen resolution in Vista under boot camp?

I have installed Vista Home Premium under boot camp (OS X 10.5.7) but in preferences I can only get the maximum of 1280x960 while my screen resolution on SyncMaster P2250 in OS X is 1920x1080.
(I am using new Mac mini with NVIDIA GeForce 9400).
I have inserted Leopard disc in Vista and installed boot camp but still I can't make the resolution higher.

OK everything works fine! The problem was that after installation of Vista I was inserting old Leopard disc that I bought a year ago instead of inserting the Mac OS X installation disc that I got with new Mac mnini.
When I put the Mac OS X that was toghether with new Mac mini it installed missing driver and everything started working

  • How to increase screen resolution Solaris 10

    Hi,
Just installed S10..The monitor that I am using runs pretty high resolution but the highest option that I can choose is 1024x768...What is the easiest way to increase the selections?
Also where would I look to find audio drivers for this box? The speaker has a red line going through it...Speaker works fine with latest dev build of opensolaris, though...Thanks.

If you are mirroring the displays they will have the same resolution, if you are extending the displays you can have different resolutions for each display.

  • Screen Resolution for Recording

    Hi All,
I am using Adobe Captivate 5.5.
I  have captured a whole module with screen resolution of 1440 by 900. Now the requirement is to reduce the same to 1024 by 768. Is it possible to reduce this for the captured video without affecting the quality of the screens. Already tried Rescale Project feature in Modify menu but the output quality is deteriorating. Please help me in resolving this issue.
    Krishna

Rescaling will always lower quality because it is about bitmap, but normally downscaling should be acceptable. However the width/height ratio is different for your original resolution and the final one. I do not know how you rescaled, but I would rescale in two steps:
first Maintain Aspect Ratio and lower height from 900 to 768; Rescale Project to fit new size; width will stil be too big
then lower width to 1024, but now choose 'Crop'; I hope you can cope with losing something in the width?
And be sure to set the quality to High or Optimized.
If you cannot cope with losing pixels in the width, I would first upscale so that the width/height ratio is the same as the final one (no Maintain ratio) and then downscale while Maintaining ratio

  • Screen Resolution 1440 x 900

I have a MS-6533E Motherboard (I think it is also known as 6533XG.
I am using the onboard video and cannot get the resolution of 1440 x 900 to display with my acer monitor AL1916W.
I have updated to latest video drivers but still no luck.
    Can anyone please assist?
    Thanks

Hi this is usually caused when the display drivers are not installed correctly. Firstly you could try updating your monitor drivers, as this defines what resolution your monitors supports etc.

  • What is the optimum screen resolution for Macbook Pro 15 inch?

Hi, can anyone please provide advice on the optimum screen resolution for a 15 inch MacBook Pro?

Natively you'll get a resolution of 1440 x 900 or you can pay for an upgrade  to 1680 x 1050(current models).

  • Screen Resolution Issues

    Hi,
I am working with a developer on an application in air and we are having trouble adjusting the screen resolution to meet the various computers that will be running the app.
On my computer  with resolution of 1440 x 900 the app looks great but as soon as we install it on another computer with moderately weaker resolution, much of the program is cut off.
Is there a way have the applicaiton adjust to different screen resolutions automatically? Or is there something we can write into the code that would not require countless hours of labor?
Or can you make a recomendation as to the resolution we should be focusing on?
    Thanks!

Design your app with the minimum screen res your audience would be using (i.e. if you plan on making your app for your gamer friends, assume theyll be on a higher resolution, your grandmother is probably a lower res). 1024x768 is the safest bet.
    use
    stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE;
instead of trying to force a specific size.

  • Choosing the optimum screen resolution?

I am having problems with the choice of screen resolutions.
I using an external screen with my MacBook Pro closed. Mavericks auto choice produces an image on the external screen that overlaps the right edge of that screen. I can fill the external screen by choosing a lesser resolution but I get constant reminders that this is not the optimum resolution. How do I resolve this problem? Any help would be welcome. Thanks.

  • Loading Yahoo mail causes screen resolution error

Whenever I load Yahoo mail in FF7, I get an error message saying my screen resolution is too low. However, my resolution is 1440 by 900, the native setting. This only happens in FF7, never in other browsers. It also happens when I use Firefox's zoom setting. Seems like that trips it up.

When I zoom in on the page, my resolution drops down to 96 by 96 in the first test and to 900 by 600 on the second test, both of which are lower than the recommended value. So why does zooming in only affect this browser and not IE9, Opera or Chrome?

  • Optimum Screen Resolution for Slides

I need to create a few slides which will be displayed full-screen. Since
there's no way to know the resolution of the monitors of the many
participants, how do I choose the resolution of my slides? Are they
downsampled in any way by the Adobe server when I upload them? My screen
resolution is 1920 x 1200 but I suspect a slide built to that resolution
would create problems for viewers on smaller monitors. Am I right? Is
there an optimum screen resolution for slides viewed during a Connect Pro
