Increasing song volume...

I import my CD's into iTunes and sometimes notice that some songs are recorded at a very low level. An example is 'Careless Whispers' off the Wham! album. There's an option to increase volume in the preferences but I'm not sure how that works. Once a song is imported into iTunes, can the volume be increased on it? Thanks for feedback

ok, I did that, but it sounds the same. Does this work on ANY song, regardless of its original source? Many of my iTune library songs came off of CD's. Should it still work and does the volume increase be effective if I burn it back on to another CD? Thanks

  • How do you increase/decrease volume on an iTunes song?  Also, some songs get cut off before they are over.

This is in reference to Follow Up 286560206; under the control tab on "Libraries" the drop down indicates that a song can be increased in volume by pressing ctrl + up and decreased by pressing ctrl + down, but no matter how I try it nothing happens.  Also, some songs get cut short, and once I saw an option on how to lengthen the play time on a song, but I can't remember how to get back to this screen.  Thank you.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app (or video app) on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • Why such sorry sound quality on iTunes? On some of my purchases the sound level is suppressed on the audio. On others the volume is so low that if I have it set for another song and a new one starts I have to increase the volume to hear it.

There is so much distortion on some of the music I have to play it with QuickTime to get a "clean" track.
What can be done to get a consistent volume level or is this another typical Apple product that you have to take what you get and be happy because it's not a Microsoft product?

If that's the best you can do why don't you get on another forum?

  • Song Volume increases when bouncing to itunes

When bouncing a song from Logic Express 9 to itunes, the volume I set the output to is dramatically increased when added to Itunes. I set the stereo output track lower (set to -5.0) and the song still comes out as loud as the others. I even set it to -24 as an extreme case and I had the same increase in volume.
I tried turning off "Normalize" in the Bounce window but that didn't work.
It's really annoying me... the songs are acoustic and need to be heard softer on the album but I can't figure out how to bounce them at the volume I want and have them stay at that lowered volume.
If anyone has suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it, thanks!

    Hi,
perhaps you have set the function to adjust the volume of songs to the same level in iTunes itself? (Preferences - Playback - adjust volume- is it checked?)
Try to play back the song from the Finder's quickview if it is still too loud.
And/or maybe you have automated the output volume so that Logic automatically moves the fader back up during the bounce?

  • Song volume drops when I edit track info

Just ran into a strange hiccup.
I recorded a song, saved it as an AAC audio file, dragged it into iTunes.
The song plays just fine in iTunes but obviously the track info is incomplete -- the name is the name of the file I saved and there is no artist, no album, no artwork, bla bla bla.  So I did the "Get Info" thing and made the needed edits.
But -- and now it gets weird -- when I play the song with more info the volume is much diminished.
I can increase the volume under Options in Get Info but something ain't right.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    I'm running iTunes 11.4 (18) on an iMac with OS X 10.9.4

Hello Andy, You're not talking to Apple here, this is a user-to-user forum.
I don't really understand your issue....do you mean the track number in the column Track# disappears, the x of y thing?

  • Song volume too low at 100%

Other than the volume slider under the song info window, is there a way to increase the volume of recorded mp3s? I recorded some audio mp3s but the volume is lower than my other songs even after increasing it to 100%. Thanks.

you could give iVolume a shot.

  • Song volume and quality

I recently used the volume slider bar in the song's "get info" tab to increase the volume of my music so i could hear it better in my car. After i changed it and played it in my car, it sounded fine but it was way, way to loud to use with headphones. so doing the logical thing i moved the volume back down. After this though the quality of my music became extremely poor. The music when played at any level now sounds fuzzy and all over bad. Is there any way to fix this problem? It is almost unbearable t listen to my music this way now.

Same thing with me! I've been going through and manually putting everything back in the playlists! It's horrible ha

  • Increasing the volume of tracks on the iPod Nano

I've clicked the option on iTunes to standardise all the song volumes, but this means that all the songs on my iPod are now relatively quiet and I have to turn the volume up to full (if background noise is loud) to hear my music and even then it is sometimes not loud enough. Does anyone know how to increase the volume of the tracks when they are passed to your iPod?

    Ah, unfortunately not.
As you posted in the nano first gen forum, I mistakenly assumed that's what you had.
goPod doesn't work (as yet) with the second gen nano.
There's nothing you can do. Boosting the songs volume using iTunes won't overcome the cap I'm afraid.
You might find that turning off the soundcheck feature raises the volume a little, as would using lower impedance headphones.

  • IS THERE A WAY OF INCREASING THE VOLUME ON A USB DOWNLOADED WITH I TUNES? WHEN I PLAY MUSIC FROM IT IN MY BMW IT IS NOT VERY LOUD.

IS THERE A WAY OF INCREASING THE VOLUME ON A THUMB DRIVE DOWNLOADED WITH ITUNES MUSIC? WHEN PLAYBACK ON BMW RADIO, EVEN WITH THE RADIO VOLUME AT MAX, MUSIC IS NOT VERY LOUD.

Can't answer the query, since I don't use thumb drives and my volume's very responsive. That said, please don't post using ALL CAPS. That's considered shouting and is very disconcerting.

  • Whilst playing a selection from a CD I've put in my CD drive, I select Controls and then wish to increase the volume.  It tells me to Press Control and then Up.  Where is the Up button please ?  Thank you.

My question is how do I increase the volume when playing a CD in iTunes.  The volume slide is at full, but when I press Controls, it tells me to press Control and UP.  Where is the UP on my PC or is it on the screen ??
    Thank you.

It means the UP arrow on your keyboard. Depending on your keyboard, it is usually located on the right hand side of the keyboard, either with the numbers keys or below the Enter (Return) key.
However, Control/Up will simply attempt to move the slider in your iTunes programme further up. If the slider is already at the top, then those keys will have no effect, since the iTunes volume is already at maximum. Perhaps your computer's volume controls need adjusting.
In Windows XP, I believe (if I recall correctly) that the volume control is in Start/Accessories/ and either Volume or Mixer. In Windows 7, it's in Start/Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Adjust Sytem Volume.

  • Determining song volume

I have the latest version of iTunes for Windows Vista, and when I download a song, or play a song, the info bar at the top runs a process called "determining song volume". when ever that runs, iTunes stops working, and shuts down. then Vista loads a help page, and tells me to get a download that fixes this problem, but the link takes me to download the newest version of iTunes (which I already have). can anyone offer any help?

You need to disable the Sound Check function, which makes all the songs play at the same level. This is probably taking too much memory, and then crashing iTunes.
Sound Check can be disabled in Preferences > Playback Tab > untick "Sound Check" > OK.
    This should fix your problem.

  • How do I increase voice volume on calls

Can anyone tell me how to increase the caller volume please?

If this is a new phone, make sure that you have removed the shipping plastic off the face of the phone.
To increase the volume, use the toggle switch on the side of the phone.

  • How do i increase call volume

I just got my IPhone 4S and cannot locate where to turn up the call volume, not the ringer volume, but actually increasing the loudness of the caller?

    Hi Folks,
have had my iPhone 4 for the last week.  I'm quite tired of people telling me to turn up the volume...it IS all the way up both using the buttons on the side and the slider...the picture tells me it is at max...I'm not deaf (yet) and the phone is CONSIDERABLY quieter than my Palm Pre.  There is no plastic film over the earpiece.  I have had six people in the last week say "yeah, that's the only drawback of an iPhone...but you'll get used to it."  I'm not sure I'll get used to it.  With so many skilled programmers out there, you would think with so many questions all over the web, we'd have an answer by now.  I will pay the first person to send me a link to an app that actually increases the volume (amplifys the current in-call volume) to the volume of at least the Pre (not that great a phone or difficult a task...lots of music boosters out there, must be a way to boost the volume of the call), not using a head set, not using bluetooth, not using speakerphone: $50.00USD.  No joke, this is really aggravating me!!!  APPLE, PLEASE SOLVE THIS!!!
