Increasing sound volume for entire iTunes library

Hey peeps, this might sound like a stupid question to ask, but here goes...
I regularly amend the volume of individual albums by selecting all the desired songs in iTunes and turning the sound volume up in Options.
I want to amend the sound limit of every single song in my iTunes library to +100%. Is there an easy way to do this without cmd+ clicking each song? I have over 12,000 songs. I want to know if there is anyway this can be done in Preferences, or if there is a way to scroll and select songs quickly!
Many thanks to anyone with any ideas!

Click on the first song in your library to highlight it then go to Edit>Select All. Right click on the selection and choose Get Info to access the Options tab for the whole selection.

I have a new hard drive as my old one crashed. Everything seemed to transfer fine except for my entire iTunes library. It shows all of my old songs, but when I click on one it states "the song could not be used as the original file could not be found.would you like to locate it".
Either how do I locate it, and I've tried every trick I know, or how do I restore all of my songs from one of two sources. I have my old hard drive backedup on an external drive which should have all of my songs, and I have most of my songs on my old iPhone 3S which I'm using as a backup iPod.

The "missing file" error happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, one of its parent folders, or the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place. In the case of a library moved from one system to another there are also potential permissions issues. See Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to Get Info, then click No when asked to try to locate the track. (Due to a bug in iTunes 12 you currently have to say No twice!) Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, a folder renamed, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions. If the difference between the two paths is an additional Music folder in one path then this is a layout issue. I can explain further if that is the case.
In some cases iTunes may be able to repair itself if you go through the same steps with Get Info but this time click Locate and browse to the lost track. It may then offer to attempt to automatically fix other broken links.
If another application like Windows Media Player has moved/renamed the files then the chances are that subtle differences in naming strategies will make it hard to restore the media to the precise path that iTunes is expecting. In such cases, as long as the missing files can be found somewhere, you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes. See this post for an explanation of how it works.

  • What is the Best External HD for Massive iTunes Library?

    Hello,
I recently lost my entire 140 GB iTunes library (along with hours of raw and edited video and audio recordings) when my cheap Iomega 500GB decided to start making a ticking noise and crap out on me. I had my library backed up through iTunes on 9 DVDs a year ago, but i still lost everything I had accumulated over the past year and a half.
I am looking for the best external HD with the fastest transfer rate (USB/Firewire 400). My top priority is reliability and I need my data to be secure and safe, not necessarily disaster proof like ioSafe drives, although I would like it to be able to take a simple fall in case something were to happen while moving it. I just don't want to have to go through this again.
I have also heard about making my own external HD but am clueless about the process. Might this be a better option?
I am also entertaining the thought of buying an Acer One 160GB to use strictly for my iTunes Music (no video) since I would like to make my library more portable. I read an article about moding one to run Leopard, but the directions were a bit over my head. I guess I could put up with Windows (EEEK!) just for iTUnes Music purposes. Help!!!
I have a Macbook 2GHz Intel Core Duo and 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM and use an 8GB iPod Touch. (if this makes a difference)

i know this isn't exactly what you are looking for but it REALLY works for me & covers a few ( if not all..) of your requisites.
i have 2 WD 2Tb My Book external drives for my iTunes library : one is the library , the other is the back up & is usually disconnected just in case....
then i have the very same set-up for video/movies. the whole shebang connected through Logitech USB powered hubs & i NEVER have any hiccups during music/video playback. then my iMac is connected via an external USB sound card - M-Audio.. - to my stereo & via mini-DVI to HDMI to my plasma display. how well does it work ? bloody amazing, i'm done with DVD players & CD players.
although it has faster data transfer rates, i think you don't REALLY need to go FW- a lot more expensive drives... - & if 2Tb drives are a little too much , check out WD range, they do have smaller drives although i have found that the 1Tb drives have the best capacity/price/performance ratio, at least here in Portugal
maybe you could set up something static at home with a beefier ( capacity wise..) drive & then have a smaller , both capacity & size wise to go on the move ?
    best wishes

  • How do I remove entire iTunes library that has duplicated itself in each individual playlist???

    Hi,
Further to my previous posting yesterday I have somehow miraculously managed to find and restore my playlist folders (although some of my playlists that I created are missing tracks for some reason - any suggestions???).
However, as happy as I am, when I click on the folder heading for each playlist eg. ADELE it drops down the playlist I have for each albumie. 19, 21 but the folder itself shows my entire iTunes library. Bizarre! Any suggestion as to how I remove the library from each individual folder?
I have added a new folder and re-named > dragged playlists into it and then deleted the old one with the entire library in, but taking into account I have a huge iTunes library it will take me hours to do this for all of my folders.
    Help much appreciated! ;-))

And do I take it that the actually playlist, e.g. THE E.N.D. only shows the tracks of that album? Anyway, something has gone horribly wrong.
The easiest way to resolve this might be to go back to an earlier build of your iTunes library and then bring it up to date with any recently added content, like this:
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
I would add that you probably have too many playlists. The column browser provides a way to quickly locate, for example, all tracks by an artist, in a certain genre, or specific albums. Creating multiple playlist folders for artists, with playlists for their albums, is overkill. Playlists are best used to create lists or selections that can't be pulled out easily from the Column Browser.

  • Moving an entire iTunes library from PC to Mac

My Dell Inspiron is basically shot right now and I have to move my ENTIRE iTunes library (literally everything; music, music videos, podcasts, and apps for iOS devices) from it to my sister's MacBook Pro before the Dell is completely dead. My music is already on an external drive, but I think everything else (music videos, podcasts, and apps) is on the main hard drive, which I am planning to move to the external drive. I don't want to lose the data on my apps (such as game high scores and saved to-do lists). I don't want to have to restore and re-sync my iDevice as it takes a very long time. I also don't want to lose minor song information such as year, composer, genre, track number, and album artwork. Basically, I want my iTunes library on the MacBook Pro to be exactly like the one I had on the Dell.
How do I go about moving my entire iTunes library with everything intact as smoothly as possible with little or no problems from PC to Mac?

It's important that you copy the xml file inside the iTunes folder on Windows (Documents / Music) along with all your files. Then you have to transfer the iTunes folder into your Mac (usually is located inside the Music folder) and start iTunes. Inside iTunes pref make sure you select the right folder for your music. Another important thing is to have the same iTunes version on Windows and Mac when doing such operations. I hope that helps, bye

  • How do i restory my entire itunes library from the hard drive of a new laptop to itunes?

I recently got a new laptop and would like to transfer my itunes from the old to the new. I backed up the itunes library to an external hard drive, and have transferred it to the hard drive of the new laptop (I haven't deleted the library from the old laptop). I am operating on windows. I am now stuck and can't seem to restore my entire itunes library to itunes. The items purchased from the itunes store are in the library on the new laptop, but the rest of my music is not. How do I restore it to my itunes library? I have tried opening itunes while holding down shift and selecting "choose library" option, but when I select the itunes folder, it doesn't appear in the library.
    help?!

    Hello ggjsa,
Congratulations on your new laptop!  I understand that you have copied your old iTunes Library to your new computer, but you are still not seeing the music.  I recommend reviewing Part 5 in the section titled "External drive" in the following article:

If you are still having trouble transferring the library using this method, you may want to try using the Home Sharing method in the article.

  • Transfer ENTIRE iTunes library via Wifi?

    Hi,
I ordered my first mac today and i cant wait for it but i was wondering how could i transfer my entire itunes library from my PC (TV, Movies, podcasts, Music, Playlists)to my new mac via the Wifi setup in my house.

You didn't mention how much (in GB) music you've got to transfer, but I've had to move upwards of 300 GB from my PC to my Mac in the past, and a wireless transfer would have been out of the question. I have successfully done the following at various times:
    1. Connected my PC to my Mac with a FireWire cable and created a bridged network connection. This was very fast.
    2. Connected my PC to my Mac with an ethernet cable and done basically the same thing. Not quite as fast, but still much faster than a wireless transfer.
    3. Removed the hard drive from my PC and installed it in my Mac in order to copy the contents of the drive to one of the three installed in my Mac. This was by far the best way for me to move 300 GB of data in a hurry.
If you have hard drive enclosure (USB 2.0 or FireWire), then temporarily removing your PC's hard drive and installing it in the enclosure might be a good alternative for you.

  • My entire iTunes library has been duplicated.  How can I delete all duplicates at once rather than each one individually?

My entire iTunes library has been duplicated.  Is there any command that will let me delete all duplicates at once, rather than each individual song?

    In particular:
Once you have used the Show Exact Duplicates feature* you can set about deleting all but one copy of each duplicate file. If all the duplicates have recently been added into your library then you could sort the list on the date added column, select a range of tracks with SHIFT-click and delete all the recent entries.
    * On a Mac hold down Option, then click File > Show Exact Duplicates.

  • Don't want ENTIRE iTunes library on Apple TV 2

I don't want my entire iTunes library available in the living room on my Apple TV, so in iTunes > Preferences > Sharing I selected "Share selected playlists" and checked the 8 or 10 playlists I do want to share. However, the Apple TV is not recognizing that! How can I make this work?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    ~ Steve W.

Well, this worked, but it's inconvenient and not fully effective.
By inconvenient I mean if I want the rest of the family to be able to listen to iTunes on the Apple TV (with the new user account I created for that purpose) it means I can't use my desktop computer in my own user account, because only one account can be open at a time.
And by not fully effective I mean that even though the new user account on the Apple TV sees only the music that I've put into that library, the user STILL has access to every TV show I've ever purchased (or downloaded free) because they were bought with the same Apple ID. Grrrrrr.
But if I create a separate Apple ID for the new computer user account, I assume it will not let that account have access to (share) ANY of my iTunes purchases, music and all?
This is frustrating enough that I'm almost tempted to return the Apple TV to the store before its two-week refund period is up.
    Any thoughts on this?

  • I am FREAKING OUT! Somehow I have lost my entire Itunes library! Help!

I have a dell dimension 2400 desktop pc. I have the 30 gb ipod photo, older model. I don't know what the **** I did, but tonight when attempting to clean up some empty folders on my computer, my entire Itunes Library was deleted. I can't find it anywhere! I wasn't prompted or anything to confirm what was about to happen, but when I opened Itunes back up, it was completely empty. Now when I try and put back on the "Itunes" songs it can find on my computer, it is only a fraction of them. Somehow, if possible, I just want to restore my Itunes as if I hadn't touched it, back to 2 hours ago! I am lost over 4000 songs! Some of the songs were downloaded, some ripped off cd's, some off Itunes. Someone please tell me it can be fixed! My ipod still has everything on it except for abunch of unchecked songs that were still on the computer.

if you have all the songs still on your ipod you can put them back on your computer from the ipod... just DONT LET ITUNES SYNC WITH YOU IPOD when you plug it back in. change the settings to manual control for syncing ipods or your itunes will delete all of them. i dont know what to do for the unchecked songs... i had a similar situation and i used a mac program to take the songs off of my ipod. hope this helps.. just google for an application that will let ya take songs off the ipod.

  • Is this legal? (Copying Entire iTunes Library)

    Hi
I know how to do it, but want to know if this is legal. I'm going on a long haul flight next week and want to copy my entire itunes library to my Macbook Pro then delete all the music and just keep the TV Shows and Movies for watching on route, is this legal?
    Thanks

    Hello there,
So you are talking about just moving your library over to a new computer? If so, then yes, it is legal. Nothing wrong with that. People do it all the time.
As long as you aren't copying it to somebody else's computer for them to have or keep.

  • LOst entire iTunes library with upgrading OS

    Hi
I'm a bit basic. Awhile ago when hotmail upgraded and didn't work anymore,
i tried to upgrade my OS. I did something that my eMac couldn't handle and it more or less
died. It was out of action for a few months and would only show a blue screen and didn't remember
    its old master password.
Finally I found the original start up disc and rebooted it but every thing was gone. Including
    my iTunes library.
I'd had a couple of old macbooks also authorised to my account but they are long dead.
Now I can't figure out how to upload my old purchases, music and audio books.
And no, stupidly, although I did have them on an iPod classic, my son cracked the screen and killed it too, so I don't have my library anywhere..
Does anyone know what i can do?
    Thanks in anticipation
    HT

For general library squiffiness following an upgrade the easiest thing is to restore your last backup, but I guess if it were that simple you wouldn't be here.
For example grab SyncToy 2.1, a free tool from MS. This can be used to copy your entire iTunes library (& other important data folders) onto another hard drive or network share. You can then use SyncToy periodically to synchronise or echo your library to the backup. A preview will show which files need to be updated giving you a chance to spot unexpected changes and during the run only the new or updated files will be copied saving lots of time. And if your media is all organised below the main iTunes folder then you should also be able to open the backup library on any system running the same version of iTunes regardless of drive letter or path.
