Increasing the volume of tracks on the iPod Nano

I've clicked the option on iTunes to standardise all the song volumes, but this means that all the songs on my iPod are now relatively quiet and I have to turn the volume up to full (if background noise is loud) to hear my music and even then it is sometimes not loud enough. Does anyone know how to increase the volume of the tracks when they are passed to your iPod?

Ah, unfortunately not.
As you posted in the nano first gen forum, I mistakenly assumed that's what you had.
goPod doesn't work (as yet) with the second gen nano.
There's nothing you can do. Boosting the songs volume using iTunes won't overcome the cap I'm afraid.
You might find that turning off the soundcheck feature raises the volume a little, as would using lower impedance headphones.

    Hi TheGuru146,
It sounds like the iPod isn't restoring correctly. Try putting the it into Disk Mode manually and then restoring the iPod again as described in the article linked below.

    iPod nano (7th generation)
Before placing the iPod into Disk Mode, verify that it has a charge.
Reset the device by pressing the Sleep and Home buttons simultaneously until the display shows the Apple logo. This should take about eight seconds.
When the Apple logo appears, press and hold the Volume Down and Volume Up buttons simultaneously until the device enters Disk Mode.

  • Does the ipod nano save the position in a track when you turn it off?

    Hello friends,
I listen to a lot of Dhamma talks that tend to be 30 minutes to an hour long. I am considering getting an ipod nano. The reason is that my current mp3 player, an old sony walkman, will forget the position of the track I am listening to if I turn it off and come back to it in a few days. Will the ipod nano save the position of where I am, even if i turn it off and come back to it a week later? Also, which generations have this feature and which do not?
    EDIT:
Reading a few posts, it seems that the new ipod nanos will forget the track, just like my walkman. Which of the old generation ipod classics and nanos have this feature?
    Thank you.
    May you fare well,
    James

If you have Shake to Shuffle turned off and you push the sleep button it shouldn't change songs in your pocket. Mine doesn't.

  • Is there a way to turn off the iPod nano 6g screen while in charge or syncing?

Is it possible that the screen of the iPod nano 6g cannot be turn off while syncing or charging? Anybody knows?

You could turn on Airplane Mode, then turn wifi back on and listen to Pandora via wifi.
Also, when the phone rings, you can press the ( - ) volume or sleep button to stop the ring.

  • Is there a dock for the iPod nano 6G?

Is there a dock for the iPod nano 6G? I haven't found one and the Apple Universal Dock doesn't work with iPod nano 6G unfortunately.
It would be okay too, if there is a loudspeaker system with a docking option for iPod nano 6G.
Unfortunately all docking options i've found, are only for the iPod touch or at best for the iPod nano 5G (like the Apple Universal Dock).
Would be great, if someone can help me : )

I am new in apple products. I got a Nano touch (6th g) 2 days ago and yesterday i got the Universal Dock.
    This one
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC746LL/A?fnode=MTY1NDA0OQ
Silly me i thought that a company like Apple would by no chance realease it without Dock support.
So this is how it is.
    It works for me but!
    1. The MENU button does not work
    2. I dont know what else it should do besides the following...
2.1. It skips songs back fwd
2.2. It advances fwd or rewinds
2.3. The screen of the nano touch goes to show album art instead of the song playing
2.4. No way to go back to menu
2.5. Volume up and down works
So, if you know what else it is supposed to do, thats what it doesnt. Know my Nano is not broken (yet) by overcharging or something. The plug fits and most of the functions work. So i wouldn't say it doesnt work but it partially works...
The bonnes of SJ now must be shaking...

  • Using Speakers with the ipod nano...help?!

Hi, I was hoping someone could help me. I have the ipod nano and am planning a party. The room is very long and narrow. I was wondering if I can connect speakers to the nano to reach both ends of the room (about 200 feet long). We really want it as background music. Which speakers should I get?
I also have a pretty good docking station, can I connect speakers to it? Do they make cords long enough to reach both ends of the room?
    Thanks so much!!!
    ipod   Windows XP

You can certainly attach speakers to your nano, but there are a few things to think about:
    1. If you try to run the nano off its battery during the party, you may find that you lose music when the battery runs out. Think about connecting the nano to a charger while the party is going on.
    2. Parties typically get pretty loud. The nano is designed to drive headphones, not speakers, so you are not going to get enough volume just by connecting speakers to the headphone jack. You need to either use powered speakers (less good solution) or feed the nano into an amplifier and connect the speakers to the amp (better solution).
Enjoy you party! With the "party shuffle" feature, you can enjoy a great mix.

  • What is up with the iPod nano 7th gen.  I just had a second one die. with both after only 3 weeks of useage?

what is up with the iPod nano 7th gen.  I just had a second one die.  both after only 3 weeks of useage... both dead since Jan 10th 2013.

this is an answer I just gave to someone else.
i'm going to ask you to try something I just did to fix a maybe simular problem that worked..... but I don't know why yet........make sure your iPod in plugged into your computer (mine is a Mac) and iTunes is turned on. My iPod  was  also "dead" but had been plugged into my computer for a couple of hours (but not lit up in any way).  Then (in desperation) I held down all the buttons, the on/off (on top right), the small Home botton at the bottom of the face, and the volume/pause buttons (left side).  For whatever reasons my iPod came back to life in a needs restoring mode ....and asked me to restore it in the itunes like "new'  iPod connected mode.  Since I have a Mac I also had to give permission to do a download by entering my computer password. If you have to do the same have that password ready. Then it did a restore software download.  Everything previously on the iPod was erased and had to be re-synced,  but I was just thankful to get it up and restored again.
Give this a shot and I hope it works for you.....but  why? I don't know yet, I need more questions answered.

    Hello, Pete.
Here is an article I would recommend going through when an iPod is not recognized by iTunes or the computer.

Usually the resolution is updating the Apple Mobile Device Driver.  See the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver.

  • Is there a way to make the iPod Nano 7 run smoother?

I love the iPod Nano. It's great. I've had mine for something like two years now, and I love it. But lately it's been acting up. It connects to my docking station, but if you touch the iPod in anyway, it will immediately disconnect and stop playing music, even though it's still plugged in. Also, sometimes with earbuds, the music will fizzle, crack, or even stop completely. When used with other devices, the earbuds work fine. So, if you have any ideas on how to fix these problems, please let me know!

  • Why does my artwork disappear from my ipod?   It's all visible in itunes, but on the ipod nano it disappears.

Why does my artwork keep disappearing from my ipod?   It's all visible in itunes, but on the ipod nano it when I copy over new albums with artwork, the artwork on the albums already on the ipod lose theirs, although they retain the artwork if viewed through itunes.
In case it matters, I don't "sync" my "library".  I have a I have a PC and copy over directories containing albums of MP3 files by dragging them onto the ipod with itunes.  I also tried pulling over only the files and not the directories.

OK, so I decided that maybe if I "sync" my iPod instead of just copying stuff to it at will, that maybe it would fix the problem.  I did a "restore", wiping out the contents.  I set up a "playlist", and put everything that I wanted on the iPod into the "playlist".   Then I "synced" the "playlist" onto the iPod.  Every song and album now had the proper album art.  I could live with this.   Then I added another album to the "playlist", and "synced".  The new album was now on the iPod with the correct artwork.  The albums that were already on the iPod now either had their appropriate artwork, no artwork, or the artwork from the other albums that were already on the iPod, with no rhyme or reason as to which was which.  AARGH.   I wiped it out and re-added the now-explanded "playlist" and "synced" again, and every album had the right cover.   I guess the only thing to do is completely replace the contents of the iPod any time I want to add or change anything, or forget about artwork.

  • Does the iPod nano have Bluetooth?

    Hello,
I am looking at buying the latest iPod nano, I don't like the standard cable headphones, they get in the way, fall out, get tangled and get pulled out of your ears.
Does the latest model come with Bluetooth connectivity?
    thank you.

    Onechief:
i10s Bluetooth adapter ($45) - Since the iPod nano 6G doesn’t have Bluetooth, a dongle is your only option. While dozens of choices exist, the i10s BT adapter is the smallest of the lot. When you’re rocking the world’s smallest iPod, you don’t want a big horsey adapter jutting out of the side. At about two-thirds the size of Sony’s BT adapter, the i10s is the perfect fit. The i10s is zero-config and auto-pairs when it’s powered up.
    Cheers.

  • Does the iPod nano keep changing songs if I keep it in my pocket?

I'm not going to be running or gymming with the iPod nano in my pocket. It is mostly for home use. I just wanted to know that since there is no HOLD/LOCK button, it may keep changing songs if put in a tight pocket while walking or travelling. Is that the case?
Also, should I buy it for home use? (With the occasional outdoor trip? Or do you think I just stick to my laptop)

If you have Shake to Shuffle turned off and you push the sleep button it shouldn't change songs in your pocket. Mine doesn't.

Does the iPod nano can record sounds connecting "headphones with microphone"?

    Hi uptight,
Yes, the iPod Nano does support MP4 files.
You can find more information about the files the iPod supports here: http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/specs.html
You can convert many videos right from iTunes. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1211 will walk you through the process with sample files.
