Increasing volume levels from Ipod

I have loads of AAC & MP3 files loaded on my Ipod but the volume levels are too low when played through the car AUX is there a way to increase the volumes before or after they download to the Ipod.

If you boost the volume of the songs in iTunes, you must then sync the iPod to iTunes once again in order to reflect the changes. If you have done this and still cannot hear a difference, then there is something amiss.
Same with iPod Volume Boost. It matters not that the iPod was manufactured for the European market, it should works with all iPods.
It work with two iPods in our family that were purchased in the USA.

  • Inconsistent volume levels from song to song

    Hi guys. I've lurked here for the past week now and I haven't seen this complaint so I figured I would ask. I'm getting what seems to be inconsistent volume levels from song to song. On one song 70% volume seems loud but on the next I can kick the volume all the way up and it's not as loud. I've noticed this on the phone and through my truck which has a hardwired Ipod adapter.
    I don't have the problem with the same library of tunes on my Gen V Ipod so I'm likened to believe it's a phone issue.
    The problem is very noticable on my motorcycle as you have to find a sweet spot for the music to be loud enough to hear but not so loud as to hurt your ears. Last night on an hour ride it seemed as if some songs came through loud and clear and others were barely audible over the bike.
    So anyone else? Other than this I have the typical problems with the low speaker/ headset volume and the Ipod software crashing when running Safari but I expected these things with a first gen product. Overall the phone is great and it's user interface makes my Ipod feel archaic. I'd put money on Apple releasing an Ipod in the near future with cover-flow and multitouch.

    Thanks guys... That was indeed the problem. In fact I remember fiddling with this setting a couple days after buying the phone and I turned it on to see what it did. Not having immediately noticed any difference I completely forgot about the setting and didn't think to check it.
    Problem solved.

    My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • SAME VOLUME LEVELS ON IPOD MINI...

    Is there in any way transferred music from itunes to ipod be played on the same volume level?..my itunes plays it in all on the same level but when i transfer it ipod it changes...
    thanks for any help guys...
    :>

    The question is how does the iPod Mini play songs at the same volume - in other words how do you avoid having to turn the ipod up and down when playing files back as some songs will be played back louder than others.
    iTunes has a facility called 'Soundcheck' which adjusts song playback levels so that all songs are the same volume. The iPod does not seem to have this facility and it can be annoying.
    Any help with this issue would be appreciated

  • Volume levels on IPod Classic

    I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but the early generation IPods I have had all played music louder in my cars than the later version Nanos, IPhones, ITouches, etc.  I know this because with my Gen 2 IPod Classic (wasn't called Classic then) I listened to my music at volume level 48 and it played as loud as I like it.  With my IPhone, ITouches and Video Nanos, I turn it up to 58 and it's still not as loud as the Classic.  And, yes, I have the sound limiter all the way up, and I have kept sound check settings cosntant.  Were the early Classics known for reproducing louder sound vo

  • How do I increase volume for my iPod in the iTunes settings? (Classic 160g)

    I need help adjusting the volume on my iPod Classic 160GB. I know there's a way to go into iTunes with the iPod connected to the computer and adjust, but when my iTunes updated to version 11.0 I have no idea how to do it. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Showing volume levels from sound extract

    Hi
    Is it possible to show the volume levels of an  mp3 by using the sound extract.  I have seen examples of representing  the  sound in wave forms, but im really looking for the volume levels.
    Any  help, would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    I have been struggling with the same behavior. I find this not being a bug as pulseaudio just gives the control to the site. For example vimeo.com or youtube remembers the volume setting on it's internal volume control lever and restores it back from a cookie. Pulseaudio doesn't interfere with that and doesn't force it's volume levels.
    Anyway, I would like to force the volume level for me. Is there such a possibility?

  • Volume levels in iPod...

    Hi all.
    I'm having some volume issues with my iPod. Within iTunes, I have the Sound Check enabled, but when songs are played on my iPod the songs are in fact not at the same level. What gives?
    This is very annoying because I usually go to bed with music playing through my iPod (and a set of speakers). Some songs are 'low' so I turn the volume up, but when a song comes on that has a 'higher' level it gets real loud and makes a peacful transistion to sleep difficult .
    Anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong or what setting I'm not using to truly achieve a consitent level of volume on all songs?
    Thanks in advance.

    I'm sorry Chris, I misunderstood...
    You're probably right, I don't think I have Sound Check enable on the iPod (i thought you meant within iTunes) Let me check and I'll let you know.
    Thanks.

    Hi Camelot,
    How would you assess the effect on "overhead"?
    This may have nothing to do with it, but I was curious as to the effect on speed of the script, so I ran the two scripts below. On my old souped-up 7500 (900MHz), the first script, with the "say" command outside the tell block, yielded an average of 111.7 ticks; the average for the second script was 110.1 ticks. So the difference appears to be about 1/30th of a second, insignificant for a one-time event (but maybe not if the routine is repeated numerous times).
    (By way of comparison, my 2.7 GHz machine averaged about 80 ticks on both scripts. That's about half a second faster, and is noticeable.)
    Script 1
    set t1_ to the ticks
    repeat 20 times
    tell application "Finder"
    open file "MAC HD:Users:osimp:Desktop:SEM Hazards.rtf:"
    open folder "MAC HD:Users:osimp:Desktop:herd:"
    end tell
    say "Now close!" using "Fred"
    tell application "Finder"
    close folder "MAC HD:Users:osimp:Desktop:herd:"
    close window 1 of application "TextEdit"
    end tell
    end repeat
    set t2_ to the ticks
    set AvgScriptDuration to (t2_ - t1_) / 20 & " ticks" as text
    Script 2
    set t1_ to the ticks
    repeat 20 times
    tell application "Finder"
    open file "MAC HD:Users:osimp:Desktop:SEM Hazards.rtf:"
    open folder "MAC HD:Users:osimp:Desktop:herd:"
    say "Now close!" using "Fred"
    close folder "MAC HD:Users:osimp:Desktop:herd:"
    close window 1 of application "TextEdit"
    end tell
    end repeat
    set t2_ to the ticks
    set AverageScriptDuration to (t2_ - t1_) / 20 & " ticks" as text
    (Finally, deviations from the mean ran as high as 4 ticks on the slow machine, and occassionally as high as 2 ticks on the faster machine -- for what that's worth!)

    After looking over the product documentation, it sounds to me like a hardware problem, i.e. you got a unit with a broken volume control knob. Is it too late to try an exchange from the dealer? Next in line would be discussing an RMA with CL Tech Support.

  • Fat Player volume levels

    Hi- I'm just wondering whether it's possible to set a volume level from source, individually for different songs in the Fat Player.
    In my present arrangement, the four audio clips are for very different instrumental combinations and have different volume levels. So putting them in 4 different QT players was great because I could pre-set the volume fader on each one, for the opening volume.
    I can see the advantages of the Fat player, but am wondering about this point.
    Kay.

    You can't set the volume for individual tracks in the player because it is using an XSPF playlist.
    In professional recording we set the output level of each track to be the same and push this to the limit using a multi band compressor.
    If your recordings are from different sources with different output levels, you need to load them into an audio editing application and reset the output levels to make them all the same.
    To avoid distortion, you will have to reduce the level to that of the track with the lowest one unless you have some fairly sophisticated mastering tools.
    The problem with applications like GarageBand is that people can make recordings without actually knowing anything about the subject!
    Recording techniques and tools have progressed a lot in the last few years. When ripping CDs and putting them on an iPod, I notice a large difference in output levels between old and new - even between new and new!
    Pop and Rock are usually pushed to the limit by the over enthusiasm of "sound engineers" whose clients want loud rather than quality.
    I was listening to an album by Alison Krauss recently. That's how recordings should be made and mastered! I compared this to Fleetwood Mac's Greatest Hits which, in technical terms, is horrendous.
    Loudness, volume and level are three different things and tend to be misused.
    Volume is passive and can only be cut.
    Level is active and can be boosted or cut.
    Loudness requires the manipulation of the individual frequencies.
    You probably don't want to hear all this but a basic understanding of sound and recording techniques will help you to get better reproduction on your website.

  • Sound output levels from headphone jack

    Has anyone else noticed that the output volume levels from the headphone / external jack are quite low? With my old iMac G5 (rev b) I could have the iMac's volume at 2 bars and it was plenty loud. Now I'm at 6 bars to get close to the same volume with my intel machine.
    If I unplug my speakers, though, the volume from the iMac is quite high at this level, so it seems to me that there's a disparity with the output through the headphone jack.
    Anyone else notice this?

    I agree, and the sound from the onboard speakers is very low as well!
    This is frustrating, my first iMac, the purple grape, from about 7yrs ago had kick-***, very good quality sound. Then, when I bought an eMac ,it was far less quality, (as I understood, due to far less cost), but I was bummed at the greatly reduced volume level as well. Also, I really liked the feature, where you set the master volume in preferences, but the desktop reading was relative to that, not the master.
    However, now, after buying the top of the line ($$$) iMac, I have the same, if not LESS sound going on What is up with this, ESPECIALLY when Apple knows it's products are favs with we musicians, as well as the many music-lovers that don't play???
    We don't appreciate having to set all levels at 10, just to get even a decent level, much less anything loud......very disappointing.

  • Getting the volume level of a Microphone

    Hi Everyone,
    I've looked around and I haven't been able to figure this one out. Basically I need to get the volume level from the microphone as it is recording. For whatever reason, when I try and get the volume control from the TargetDataLine, it throws an exception. Is there a way to get around this or does this feature just plain not exist?
    Thanks,
    Robbie

    hi metaldrummer610, i have the same problem and look for a solution since a long time.
    i only can manipulate the gain of my players like:
    public void setGain(double value) {
              try {
                   FloatControl gainControl =
                        (FloatControl) auline.getControl(FloatControl.Type.MASTER_GAIN);
                   float dB = (float)
                   (Math.log(value==0.0?0.0001:value)/Math.log(10.0)*20.0);
                   gainControl.setValue(dB);
              } catch (Exception ex) {
                   ex.printStackTrace();
    but in connection with my recorder it didn't work. i scanned many forums and try a lot, but i always get the exception like Unsupported control type: Mute , Volume etc.

  • Why is the volume level different from song to song in iTunes & on iPod?

    When I play back songs in iTunes and most of all on my iPod the volume level is different depending what songs I am listing to. The biggest problem is with the songs that I get from my CD’s because the volume is very low. Why does this happen and can I fix it? Thanks, Robert

    iTunes uses a feature called "SoundCheck" to attempt to equalize playback volume. There are actually 3 Sound Checks: 1 is for iTunes playback (set in Preferences), 1 is for iTunes burning (set on the Burn Disc dialog), and 1 is for iPod playback (in iPod Settings).
    Make sure they are all enabled.
    They are far from perfect, but they should help.

    If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
    The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    SharePod Windows Only
    iRepo Mac and Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
    There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
    I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.
