Increasing VRAM lenovo g480

Hello everyone! I came here because I wanted to increase my dedicated video ram (VRAM) in my lenovo g480. Acording to what I have read, the laptom has I think only 32mb of dedicated RAM, and wanted to increase that value a bit more. I have already tried to see into my BIOS settings, but unlike other BIOS I have seen, there's no option for change the amount of VRAM avilable. So I wanted to know, is there ANY way I can change the VRAM, either by using comand prompts, programs, BIOS modification, etc? If not, I have to say that I'm very disappointed on the lack of control Lenovo gives to the user of their own computers. PS: I have 12 gb of ram, an intel i7 3612 QM with intel HD4000 integrated graphics card, and windows 8.1 single language.

Hi Henry,
Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that your G480 Laptop is displaying BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) error while turning the computer ON, I suggest you to perform the Flee-Power and BIOS reset. Below are the steps to check and resolve the issue:
Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer.
Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer.
If the issue persists even after performing Flee Power then resetting BIOS to its defaults should resolve the issue
Now access the BIOS menu press F2 when the Lenovo logo appears on the screen while the computer is starting up.
Then to reset the BIOS to its defaults click on “F9” Key and select YES.
Now click on “F10” Key to save the changes that are done in BIOS, the computer should automatically restart. Please check if the issue persists.
Hope this helps!!!
Do post us back if the issue still persists.
Best Regards
Shiva Kumar

  • Web-Cam does not work on Lenovo G480, PLEAS HELP!!

    Hello,
    I have a Lenovo G480 (20165), and my built-in Web-Cam is not working.
When I enable it by pressing Fn+Esc the little light by the Web-Cam turns on, then shuts off after a second.
So I downloaded the Lenovo Easy Capture, and when I open the software, I get a message saying "Failed To Open Camera".
And when I turn on my laptop, the little light comes on for a short moment, then the light shuts off.
I don't know what to do, It's a brand-new laptop and I've never been able to get the Web-Cam to work, not even on Skype.
I would REALLY appreciate the help. Thank you!

  • How to increase vram in macbook pro 13 early 2011

I recently bought Macbook Pro core i5, 13in early 2011.
Is there any way to increase VRAM in my macbook pro. I want to work for Graphics specially in After effects and Adobe Photoshop. But when I started photoshop I saw an error that I have only 384MB of vRAM I can't work on such low vRAM...  I am feeling I lost my money because of no available enough ram
    Current specs are:
    Macbook Pro 13in i5 - 4GB - 320 GB. early 2011

If all you did to install an application was drag it to the Applications folder, it will be completely uninstalled by dragging it to the Trash and emptying the Trash. How many other files that you've trashed and emptied can you still find on your computer?
Why bother to ask questions if you aren't going to believe the answers you're given? That's just a waste of your time and the time of anyone who answers you.

  • Lenovo G480 Problem: I cant Create a new Drive

Hi everyone.. so my my laptop is a Lenovo G480 intel i3
    4GB ram
My operating System when i bought this was Windows 7 Home Basic.
So my problem is that my Local Disk C is 420 GB while my Local Disk D is only 25.4 GB
So I want my disk D to have more space (atleast 150GB) so I could store all my Installers, Games, Music and Videos in there, but when i try to transfer the memory from C to D, it wont. I shrink 150GB from my Local Disk C and when i clicked on Local Disk D the option Extend Volume is not available. So i tried to create a new drive instead.. I right click the 150GB unallocated space and the only option available is Create Simple Drive (i think). then i agreed at all the options but in the end it would say Not Enough Space.
I dont understand. So  I tried changing the Operating System to Win7 Ultimate but same problem.  Please Help Me I dont know what to do (and by the way it can also not be done when im installing Win7. The option Extend is also not present there or  Create new Drive)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

you need not to go to diskmgmt.msc as you have already messed up enough with your HDD. now wipe out you system reserved, C and D partition (I mean all created partitions leaving the OEM reserved partition viz "LENOVO_PART") booting from windows 7 DVD. At one page there will be drive option when you see your all partitions. click that "Drive Option" and now delete one by one all partitions leaving "lenovo_part" one untouched.
now create your required partitions of your size. system reserved partition of 100 MB will be automatically created when you create your first (C) drive.

  • Lenovo G480 webcam not working

hello, im having trouble with my notebook, after upgrading it to windows 8.1 64bit, i can't use my webcam, and there is no imaging device under the device manager, i tried to installing the driver Camera Driver (Bison, Liteon, Chicony) from support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/lenovo-g480-notebook, there are no driver for OS windows 8.1, so i tried with the OS windows 8 version, in the middle of installation, after extracting package, and hitting install button, nothing happen, i've waiting for couple of minute, there are no signs that this process is start, or done. and try to restart it, hope the drivers is installed, but still no change

Have you tried enabling your webcam through Pressing the FN key on the keyboard and then the Esc key?
FN+Esc while you are looking at your camera... This will enable the camera so that it will work.

  • Lenovo G480 lcd darker on right side.

    Dear All,
    Greetings
Some days ago my laptop's screen got a bit darker on right side.
Now its more dark & it looks like different. Its pixels also show different colour. On an external monitor gives a perfect picture. But LCD has problem.
    Please help..!!
Lenovo G480 and graphic adapter is of Nvidia.
    Regards

    hi hm_khawaja,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
If you boot into the BIOS (F2) and you still see that one side of the LCD is darker than usual then your conclusion about the LCD being the problem is correct as the backlight on that corner is most likely malfunctioning.
If the unit's still under warranty, I recommend that you contact lenovo and report the issue. Otherwise, you may need to replace the entire LED screen.
See page 106 of the HMM for a list of compatible LCD panels

  • HELP!!! on Lenovo G480 Model Name: 20156

    Hi Good day!
    Newbie here.
I just bought my new laptop Lenovo G480 with pre-installed operating system of Windows 7 starter.
Now, I upgrade my windows 7 starter  to windows 7 home premium and not doing the clean install.
What happen is i use the windows upgrade anytime, copy the product key that i saw in the web and paste it to the upgrade anytime. The product key that i copied failed. So what I did is, I restart it, and when it boot up the windows is already upgrading to windows 7 home premium. After the setup, I copied the activation key for the product key that I copied and  windows upgrade anytime accepted it. Now my windows 7 home premium says is it is activated and genuine.
Take note that I disabled the automatic update, as I'm afraid that microsoft might detect that my windows is not genuine.
Before i did the upgrade, i made a backup system with the use of onekey rescue system and save the backup to my built-in hard disk drive.
Now that I'm in win7 home premium, if I press the onekey rescue system button, will I get back to my previous os which is win7 starter without activating it? because I also don't have activation key for it, as i bought the laptop with pre-installed os.
Can you guys please advise me what to do?
I am really scared right now, I know I'm stupid and I don't want to waste my money because of what I've done.
    Reply will be truly appreciated.
    Thanks.

I'm sorry I used the one key recovery to backup my system and saved it to my built-in hard disk drive.

Gracias  y saludos cordiales

  • Lenovo G480 unable to read SDHC card

    Hi
I having an issue with my G480 unable to detect my SDHC card. I have install both drivers for my card reader from Support site but still unable to read my SDHC card even my camera can use the same SDHC.
    Any one have similar issue?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    hi mynorkin,
If you have the Lenovo G480 (type 2184 or 2688) as listed in this pdf data sheet, this doesn't support SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) as the card reader installed on these system is only a 2-in-1 reader which only supports MMC and Secure Digital Card,
As an alternative, you can get a USB Card Reader.
Edit: Added sample usb card reader.
    Hope this helps.

  • Lenovo G480 Dedicated graphics recommendation

Hey guys, please let me know, what would be the recomended nVidia Graphic card for the Lenovo G480 model. I have this...See the below pic.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Good day.
As commented above, your 610M dGPU is soldered to the system board. Looking at the HMM:
    http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_g480_g485_g580_g585_g780_hmm_v1.0_english.pdf
there's only one obvious option to improve the dGPU and that would be to swap in an entire replacement system board. The manual hints that there is such a system board with the 630M (page 100, item #6, "N13P-GL 2G").
    Hope this helps to clarify.
