Incredible noise on the macbook

Hi
More than 2 months ago, I had installed some kind of software update. And I think this problem has began since that date. Within 5 minutes of operation of my Macbook, the fan starts operating very very loudly (louder than when you insert a CD). And until I shut the computer off or put it on sleep, this noise will continue, even if i am not doing any operation. Any suggestions on that.
Because of this problem, my battery life has been reduced to 1:30 max. I have recently replaced my battery. When there is no noise for the 1st 5 min, the battery life looks normal. But as soon as it starts making this noise, the battery life drops to 1:30 max.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for the help guys.

Check your Activity Monitor. You probably got some process running in the background causing excessive CPU usage.

  • Weird noise and the MacBook doesn't start

    Heyya guys!
A friend of mine has this MacBook white and for some reason the computer doesn't start... i don't even get the Apple logo and there is something strange on the combo drive... It sounds like it's trying to eject something or read something but there's nothing inside....
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Does your friend have the original install discs for the computer?
If so, have your friend insert Install Disc 1 and boot the computer with the C key held down. Once the Installer loads, choose a language, then from the Utilities menu, choose *Disk Utility*. If your friend is using Boot Camp to run Windows, have him/her click on *Macintosh HD* in the left-hand column. If Windows is not being run, have him/her click on the top-most hard drive icon, which will have the capacity of the drive listed.
Once a drive is selected, click the *Repair Disk* button. Record any errors that can't be repaired, if any.
If the install DVDs aren't available, have your friend try booting in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key while booting.

  • Hissing noise from the bottom speakers after any sound

Like the title i recived my new iphone 5 yesterday and I find suddenly this problem. After any sounds like lock or any music or something else, a hissing noise start for 5-7 seconds. Is that a hardware problem?
    Thanks

    hi sailor,
contacted apple phone support, unfortunately apple care number is not free in australia.
first time it took 17min and was not able to contact a technician coz credits in my mobile ran out.
second time it took 25min. i explained all the issues
told them i reset the pram, smc and reinstalled the OS and still i hear the hissing noise.
they replied that speakers may make a hissing noise if the macbook is on battery, but the noise should be very low and it should not be audible, if the noise is audible and loud, they suspect its a hardware failure, i got my case id and will be taking it to the nearest service center here, for them to have a look.
so if u have a macbook that is under warranty dont hesitate to contact them. i guess even refurbished macbooks bought in online store also have a 1yr warranty.

  • Hissing noise from the speakers

    hi mates,
i hear a hissing sound from the internal speakers whenever the system tries to play sound through the internal speaker, be it a system sound or playing my music, or just by opening a application that may play music, i get this hissing sound before a system sound and this hissing noise continues for some time after the sounds are stopped playing, i get this hissing noise even when i change volume of the speakers. i dont get it through the headphones. the strange thing is i get this hissing noise even if i play a movie when my speakers are muted.
i went through this forum, some members have adviced to reset the pram, smc, reinstall the os, friends i tried all these but still i continue with this problem.
my macbook is brand new and just a week old.
i am really worried about this problem.

  • How to fix the constant noise in the left corner of the Macbook Air which is connected not with a fan?

How to fix the constant noise in the left corner of the Macbook Air which is connected not with a fan?

Unfortunately if there are various colours across the screen then you have broken the LCD Screen and it will need replacing. If the colours change when you press the area lightly then this is another symptom that you've broken the screen.
Sorry to give the bad news!

  • MacBook Pro 2011 get hot and noise all the time and slowly ?

hi. why MacBook Pro get too hot and make a noise all the time i have Yosemite ,mac late 2011 and became very slow?

Games are very CPU/GPU intensive applications and will heat up the MBP.  That will result in the fans increasing speed in order to dissipate the heat.  This actually is an expected result and for the type of application, is 'normal'.
I you plan to play a lot of games, consider getting a cooling pad twhich will tend to mitigate the heating.
    Ciao.

  • Macbook Pro weird noise in the upper left corner.

    Hi....
I have a mid - 2012 MacBook Pro. Whwn the Turbo Boost kicks in, and the laptops gets hot, the MacBook starts doing a noise that sounds like... clicking?
It definitely sounds mechanical, and it also sounds a bit like something is loose as the sound becomes a bit weaker when I push the cover of the MacBook.
I have a suspicion that it is something to do with the left fan.
When I close the laptop and let it go to sleep and then open it again, the sound is gone. Unfortunately, only to come back every now and then.
    What could this be?
If it really is the fan, is there a way to fix this without getting a new one or taking it to a Genius Bar?
    Thanks.

Nope. Only an Apple tech can diagnose and fix the problem. You could try cleaning the fans yourself, or even replacing the fan yourself, but I don't recommend doing so.

Hi John. Thanks for that input. At Step 6, after clicking "Next" I get a window telling me my OS version is unsupported and the installation may not complete. I am prompted to go to Canon's web site to "Check Latest Info".
I've had this window on previous attempts and from Canon's web site I downloaded two drivers as follows
    - ICA Driver V4.0.0
    - Canon IJ Network Tool V4.5.0
I'm not sure if these are the correct / complete drivers I need for this install or not.
I continue to follow all the steps. At step 9 I click "Wireless Set Up using USB" amd get a License Agreement (a little different than instructions)
I click "Agree" and it goes to a Setup window with two progress bars showing the installation. I've not been prompted to connect the USB?
After the Setup window is done, I am then prompted to connect the printer via USB. I connect the printer and click on "Redetect". It is not detected.
I then try following the Canon on screen instructions for connecting to the wireless LAN amd enter the password. It searches and indicates "Connecting" on the window, but it never connects and the blue light just blinks
So, at this point I am stuck??
    Thanks

You have a HDD problem (hopefully you have a backup).  Start with the information on this support article:

You are under warranty. You can call Applecare and get advice from the tech rep, or you can bring it to an Apple store or authorized Apple service provider.

  • Could I Return the Macbook if...?

I've been reading the numerous posts regarding the mooing and whining of the macbook. It's extremely important to me to have a Macbook that runs silent. I've been hearing some report there is a whining and mooing, others report no sound at all. If I order it, and it comes and I notice the whining and/or mooing, would this be grounds for return? Or would Apple say something along the lines of, "that's expected," thus I'm stuck with the noisy Macbook. Thanks for your time in reading the post.

What it boils down to is if you have a "stock"
configuration you can return it (within 14 days I
believe) no questions asked. It doesn't matter if
it's just you don't like the color. You'll be charged
    a "restocking" fee.
All that goes out the window if there's a problem. If
you buy a "custom" configuration and say the HD poops
out then you'll still be taken care of. You're not
abandoned from receiving warranty help because it's
    not a stock MacBook.
ofcourse....i certainly wasn't suggesting that. i was merely pointing out that a "noisey" macbook doesn't mean it's a faulty machine. and if he bought online, upgraded the ram, apple found that the noise was "normal" and he still didn't like it....there are no returns on opened CTO machines. i know this from experience.

  • Clicking noise from the HDD of the new Mac Mini

I just recently purchased a new Mac mini to retire the Macbook pro from my leaving room (it was heating up too much when running Plex). The problem I find is that the new Mini's HDD (toshiba 5400) has a loud clicking noise which on the MBP I can't barely notice. Is anybody else experiencing this?
I would like to understand if this is just a faulty HDD so I can exchange it or if the sound is normal and then I would just return it.
    Thanks in advance

No clicking on my 2010 aluminum model or any of the previous ones that I have had.

  • Crunching noise from the optical drive

Whenever I try to insert a CD into the disk drive, I get the noise from sample-1 under the "Inserting a disk" section from the Apple support link Mac notebooks with optical drives: Noises from the optical drive - Apple Support
I can't find anything on how to fix this yet so I'm hoping somebody here can help. I bought this macbook secondhand off of somebody on craigslist almost a year ago so I have no way to contact them anymore. I've only used this computer as a backup so I've never known this problem existed before now.
    Any thoughts?
Edit: The CDs won't play and ejects after about 30 seconds of making that crunching noise without showing up anywhere on my drives.

If your optical drive is making a crunching noise it's probably a goner. You can replace it yourself using the guides at iFixIt https://www.ifixit.com/Device/Mac
Or better yet replace it with and SSD for lightning fast performance and get a USB external optical drive.

  • Noise on the left side of the keyboard?

I have a MacBook Pro and since 2 days ago I'm hearing a noise of the left side of the keyboard.
The noise is constant and it looks like its from the disk. Why it can be? I'm not able to describe the noise but it sounds like the disk working but with a glitch.
    Any advice? Thanks

It looks like the sound comes from a external port? Is that possible?
Not unless the sound is coming from somewhere else inside the machine and you hear it when your ear is pressed against the ports. None of the ports ever emit sounds by themselves.
The sound looks like a disk head rolling?
A sound can't be seen, so it can't look like anything.
In rare instances, the CPU and/or GPU can emit noises, and if the noise increases when you begin a download, perhaps that's what is happening in your machine. Take it to an Apple Store or authorized service provider to be evaluated.
