Incredible

This is an example how to comment a method of class
com.sapportals.htmlb.FileUpload getFile()
"public com.sapportals.htmlb.rendering.IFileParam getFile()"
Documentation for interface IFileParam don't exist.
How can i use this file in my iviews if i don't have a proper documentation???

Hi Florin,
there is a FileUpload Example in the PDK samples:
/irj/portalapps/com.sap.portal.pdk.htmlb.htmlbcontrols/docs/fileuploadexample.html
Hope this helps.
Example
    public void onLoadFile(Event event) {
         FileUpload fu = (FileUpload) this.getComponentByName("myfileupload");
// this is the temporary file
         if (fu != null) {
// Output to the console to see size and UI.
            System.out.println(fu.getSize());
            System.out.println(fu.getUI());
// Get file parameters and write it to the console
            IFileParam fileParam = fu.getFile();
            System.out.println(fileParam);
// Get the temporary file name
            File f = fileParam.getFile();
            String fileName = fileParam.getFileName();
// Get the selected file name and write ti to the console
            ivSelectedFileName = fu.getFile().getSelectedFileName();
            System.out.println("selected filename: "+ivSelectedFileName);
Kind regards

  • Can I return my incredible if it has TFT?

    I'd like to know if 1. I can tell by the phone's model number if it has TFT or AMOLED? And, 2. Can I return the incredible if it has TFT, not the AMOLED it was advertised to have?

    Umm...not going to lie, I would demand a new phone, replacement, refund, compensation...something.
    Ways to tell : It's hard... But appearently the color is less vibrant, so find a friend that has had the phone for a long while -- And compare colors, etc.. hell, even watch the same youtube vids, etc. You can probably even compare to the in-store phone.. given they don't replace the store phones.
    If you are pretty sure it is NOT AMOLED like you wanted/were told...  .. I'd take every measure possible to get something out of it and then some.. not to mention..spread the word.
    It is just a rumor though... I can't see them (HTC) doing that, especially since everyone is still fighting with delays and all these set backs.. But I'd be in their(Verizon in this case) face, personally, if I was lied to about something I paid all that money for PLUS a monthly payment that I only use like 1GB max, I'm sure... Haha

  • Firefox constantly crashes on my htc droid incredible

    i have an HTC Droid Incredible and have been using firefox for a while. all of a sudden, when i try to use firefox on my phone, it opens for a few seconds then the screen turns white then takes me to a page that says FireFox has crashed and allows me to restart or close the program. Regardless of closing or restarting, the it always crashes. I've unistalled and reinstalled FireFox to see if that would fix it but it doesn't. My other internet browser works fine. Does anyone have any advise on how to fix this?

    Have you rebooted the phone?

  • How to create unique notification sounds for email on Droid Incredible 4G LTE

    I have three separate email accounts pushed to my Droid Incredible 4G LTE.  I can't for the life of me figure out how to set up unique notification sounds for each email account.  It was a snap to do on my old Blackberry.
    Same question for flagging individuals within my contact list.  (E.g., if my wife calls it makes one sound, if a client calls it makes a different sound.)
    Does anyone know how to do this, or, as they say, is there an app for that???
    Thanks in advance!

    I don't think you can on the email but got to each contact and edit them for different sounds, I'm not sure if it works on that new phone that way but as they don't have a dedicated room yet for it you had nowhere else to ask htc has good forums also

  • How can I get music I purchased though Amazon on my Android device(droid incredible) to my IPad 2 without using a computer?

    I just got an iPad 2 a couple months ago, and I'm very eager to get my music collection purchased from Amazon to my device. I have had to get a replacement droid incredible and lost my login information for both my email and my amazon account. I have the music files stored on the SD card on my phone. I have the basic iPad 2, 16 GB, wifi, no 3G. I got an iPad to essentially replace my computer since it can't hold a charge anymore. I am almost due for an update with Verizon, so I would like to get an IPhone. However if I can't transfer my 100s of dollars worth of music, I'll have to suck it up and stick with android and be unable to have more than the 3 songs I have on my iPad.
    If any one can help It would be greatly appreciated.

    It sounds as if you have a computer but it won't hold a charge. Does it not work if it's plugged in at home? If so, you can simply transfer the music to your computer at home. You can either do this by connecting your Incredible to the computer and dragging the music from the SD card to iTunes or, you can contact Amazon and get your password reset and just download the music.

  • HTC Incredible reboot fix that works and does NOT require hard reset

    Like many of you unfortunate souls out there I have had my HTC Incredible go into a rebooting loop over the last month or so. The following recounts some observations and and a solution which appears to work.
    First off, my son and I both have the same phone and software versions and apps. He does NOT get email on his phone because he does not want to. I do. His phone has NEVER rebooted. Mine has done so numerous times. My business partner also has the identical phone and software version, lives within 200 yards of me,  and uses the email and has had numerous reboots and has gotten them even sooner than I saw them at first. My partner and I have set up email attachments and downloads to go to the SD card. So much for background info. Here is what I did to fix the problem followed by some other observations:
    Open up the case of the phone and remove the battery
    Remove the SD card from the phone.
    Put it into an adapter that allows you to access files directly on your computer. In my case this was a Windows PC running Windows 7.
    Mount the SD card in your computer and open up the browser to see the files on the SD card.
    Look for a folder called ".Mail"
    If your phone is like mine you will see hundreds of files, some of zero length. This was even though I had deleted most of the emails I received on my phone.
    Proceed to directly delete any of the zero length files. For that matter, you may have other files like jpg's laying around of uncertain origin. I got rid of these and other strange files that seemed attached to no documents at all.
    Remove the SD card and reinsert into your phone. Put the battery back in and the cover on then restart the phone. Your phone should run properly and you should not see any negative consequences from the files you deleted previously.
    Some other observations relevant to this solution that bolsters my theory that this problem has something to do with the email application and also a problem with file system corruption on the SD card as a consequence of it.
    I had previously seen the email application put some mail from a different account I was using into my main account. The files could not be deleted and even trying to do so would cause the mail app to force close.
    My son has never seen the problem despite being in the same environment with the same phone and software. Relevant difference to me was that he was NOT using email and I was.
    The email app clearly has bugs if it is leaving behind hundreds of files even if you delete the emails. Why? As a software engineer my first instinct would be to look to see if the file system locks were properly synchronized when the email app is writing to the flash file system. I am not conversant in Android OS programming nor the app code itself so this is speculative on my part. I would also look for a timeout on reboots if file system enumerations take too long. Lots of files on a system might trigger a premature timeout and reboot. Once again, this is speculative on my part but I sure wish I had the code to debug this myself.
    These issues seem to coincide with a rapid rise in network traffic most likely because of the iPad 2/iPhone support by Verizon. I wonder if this additional traffic load on the network is opening up timing holes in the software because of backoff and retry intervals for certain apps. Once again I suspect the email app especially because it is vulnerable to network traffic issues as it tries to get email account updates.
    I could be wrong about my theory as to why the problem is happening. My solution seems to work. As far as pulling the battery and putting it near your AC in the car, that did NOT work for me at all. Leaving the phone out of its protective case also had no effect. Only screwing with the files on the SD card mattered.
    I hope this helps.

    This problem has been seen for MONTHS now by people besides myself. My business partner is about to put a bullet in his phone because this has been happening for far longer than mine. I have little confidence in a fix anytime soon because this problem has been persistent for some time and there is a lot of denial in the field by Verizon. Verizon has to depend on HTC and Google besides themselves for fixes. How much would you like to wager on how this business relationship is working out? The first step in any solution is for a company to take some responsibility for it and so far no company has.

  • Broken HTC Incredible and Verizon service update

    Here is what has went on. Sorry for the length.
    My first post:
    Great phone for the 22 hours it worked.
    I got my Incredible May 10th, it died May 11th.
    Then it stopped charging, the battery goes dead. Red charge light on, green battery icon on top of screen has little lightening bolt thru it. Green indicator moves back and forth like its charging. Tried removing and reinstalling battery.  Sometimes it charges until red light turns green, then its dead within an hour, with the phone completely shut off, not sleeping but OFF. All while still plugged in.
    Tried supplied wall charger, Verizon car charger. All the same.
    Tried a new battery they sent me. It acts the same.
    Took it to the local Verizon store, they said its broken too.
    They ordered me a new one on the 17th.
    3 hard resets, 3 sessions with tech suport over as many days. Told I will have a new phone June 9th. 30 days after it broke. Just in time for my 30 evaluation period to end. I can have one extra week they said, my how gracious. I dont have the equippment but the time expires just like if I did. They also made me pay another $212 dollars to order the replacement phone. I it get back 2 weeks after they recieve the broken one in return.
    Back to my totally reliable Blackberry tour.
    I was told by the last tech guy that thats life. Its not Verizons problem its HTC's problem and I am out of luck as far as extending eval time. Or any considerations at all.
    Lets see, its Verizons equippment, but not their problem. I got if from them but its not their problem that its junk.
    I'm unlucky and thats my fault, they see no liability in my bad luck.
    He also said you should never buy a newly released product because they always have problems.
    All 3 also said they have not seen or heard of any problems at all with the Incredible.
    I must be the only unlucky person in the whole world.
    The **bleep** thing worked for a day, one day.
    They also said that if there was a refurb available I would get that as a replacement and not a new one so I am lucky there is not a refurb.
    Are you kidding me, a phone breaks in one day and they would replace with a refurb????
    I work in customer service, I would be fired if I went anywhere near where Verizon is going. "Were sorry for your bad luck" ,"Dont buy newly released equippment", "Its not our problem" , " You only derserve a refurb phone"  that doesnt cut it.
    My phone didnt die, Verizons phone died. Period.
    I could understand it if it died 4 weeks after I got it. I could see their point after that long. But the next day, get real Verizon???
    Frustrated, disappointed, angered, in utter deblief.
    The best network, sure. The best customer service, far from it.
    Their reply:
    I would like to apologize for the malfunctioning equipment and the poor customer service that you were provide. I will definitely forward this to the correct correspondence to be reviewed. Our Certified Like New phones are tested and guaranteed like new as if you received them straight from the manufacturer. Brand new phones, maybe 10% of the entire inventory are tested for functionality, so it is possible for a bad one to slip out every once in a while. Since you have already purchased a new one and have to wait for it in the mail, I can see what we can do to have your 30 day guarantee extended longer than a week. May I have you mobile number and full name? Please allow me some time to review the account and get with the necessary contacts to see what I can make happen from my end.
    Then after 5 days I had to sent a why didnt I hear anything message.
    Then I get this response:
    I do apologize and thank you for your patience. I did have my superiors work with your account, however they have advised because you have already accepted the agreement with customer care, we won't be able to go over their agreement.
    My respone to them:
    I didn't accept their agreement! Oh my god!!
    They didn't give me what I asked for or help solve my issues.
    All I was told is what they couldn't do. As well as wouldn't do.
    As well as everything I put in my post.
    If you're talking about the month to evaluate the new phone.
    They didn't give me a choice. What was I supposed to say "naa I don't want an extra week"?
    I asked forcefully for my full period, without being irate.
    I was told there was no way anyone was going to do that for me.
    How in god's name can you say my evaluation period is up when your equipment failed in 22 hours and you could not supply new equipment to evaluate?
    How can Verizon take that stance in good faith????
    I know now Verizon does not care about one account.
    At least mine, on any level.
    I will change my stance if you could tell me one thing.
    How is any of this my fault?
    Why am I being penalized?
    Am I wrong here people???

    i am only posting this to present another side (of the htc di....NOT verizon....lol). they should give people 30 days from when they get the replacement....not the broken one they got initially. anyway, most of the people that come to forums do so to resolve issues, problems, etc. look at all of the threads. they are people with problems, complaints, or questions. they sold 100,000 incredibles in the first few days it was available. and yes, a handful of them have issues. i'd be willing to bet that 7 months ago the forum was filled with brand new bunk moto droids, and that a couple years ago there were at&t forums that were filled with bad iphones recieved. i'm not excusing it. i'm just saying it's brand new and there will be bugs with brand new devices....and some that are just flat out broke. but it seems that 99,000+ of them are just fine. i've been with verizon for ten years and have had no problems. even got some early upgrades. it's a shame that their service appears to have gone downhill, but it's no better with the other carriers. i've just seen a handful of people here that desire to change carriers....and that's fine. but i also suspect they will come across the same bad service once in a while no matter who you go with. this forum is similar to anything else....when you have a bad experience at a restaurant you want to call the manager....nobody calls the manager or visits the forum to tell you how great their service was that day.

  • To many issues incredible 2

    I purchased the incredible 2 in may 2011 , since then I am now on my fourth phone. I have had to return each one for so many issues and find it hard to believe when tech support tells me its the first time they hear of a problem. I have spoken with at least 30 different tech support staff over these few months as well as HTC directly and to date NO resolve. Here are some of the issues I have encountered.
    3 G always remains at 1G if it does show 3 G and I attempt open even the market it drops back to 1G. There are times when the market takes more than ten minutes to load.
    Next is the battery life, after a full charge the battery reduces to 15% in about an hour to an hour an a half.
    My settings such as sound, or mobile network arbitrarely alter themselves. The ringtones change, the applications settings change and also the ability to download applications change not allowing the phone to download apps. I have to manually go and change all the settings over and over again.
    My phones no longer allow me to use HTC clock widgets, either I get a force close , unupdated weather and none of the alarm clocks, timer, world clock etc..are accessible. HTC even asked that I video tape the widget issues and send it to thier escalation department, which I did. According to HTC they cannot duplicate the problem, but are fully aware of the issue. Verizon on the other hand claims to know nothing.
    The HTC s get more widgets always tells me unable to load or unavailable. Clearly this us an issue with HTC product and more than a month has passed and no reseloution in sight.
    I received my 4th incredible 2 in the mail today and immedietly called Verizon to say I am not accepting this and I now want another phone by anyone other than HTC.
    Clearly people are posting these issues and many more but sadly none if them seem to be being addressed. It is my hope that my next phone coming tomorrow will work. So much for that so called most reliable service. Just a side note as I typed this my keyboard now seems to disappear and or will not allow me to back space.
    My hope is those who have all these issues bombarded HTC and their carrier so the products sold are functional and we get what we pay for.

    This is a network issue not a device issue, how strong is your network connection? How many bars do your device have?
    Next is the battery life, after a full charge the battery reduces to 15% in about an hour to an hour an a half.
    All 4G devices has quick battery drain issue because of the power the radio requires to recieve reception.  You could have learned of this from a number of forums because it is widely reported, usually a extended battery resolves this.
    My settings such as sound, or mobile network arbitrarely alter themselves. The ringtones change, the applications settings change and also the ability to download applications change not allowing the phone to download apps. I have to manually go and change all the settings over and over again.
    If you are using device as Mass Storage and use custom ringers this is a normal situation because the phone can not access the ringer file that is stored on sd card when it is in Mass Storage mode, usually a restart resolves this.   Now as for the network connection I would need more info to understand what you mean.
    My phones no longer allow me to use HTC clock widgets, either I get a force close , unupdated weather and none of the alarm clocks, timer, world clock etc..are accessible. Weather updating error sounds like a network issue again but as for the Force Close have you tried checking installed apps are not causing this issue because I have seen this regularly..
    The HTC s get more widgets always tells me unable to load or unavailable. Clearly this us an issue with HTC product and more than a month has passed and no reseloution in sight.
    Another possible network issue..

     Sounds like you are having reception issues in my opinion and no matter what device you recieve will resolve this and also you may want to try running device without installing ant 3rd party apps and see what happens because the issies you are having isnt a device issue.

  • Suggestion for Incredible Owners

    If you care about the 2.2 update.  I got to thinking about a solution that should work.  In order for it to even have a chance we need to e-mail HTC support and make the suggestion.  The more people who do it the more likely it is but even if it isn't pheasible for this update perhaps it can be put in place for future updates.
    The problem with Android 2.2 update coming for current HTC phones is Sense UI.  Sense is both a User Interface but also a series of additions to Android.  All of the individual pieces as well as the full UI has to be ported to Android 2.2 which requires tweaking and reprogramming some of the things to utilize all of the features possible while getting rid of some things that are being replaced by Stock Android like Flashlite will be removed to make room for Flash etc.  The suggestion that I am attempting to spread is that we request for the few that care and would appreciate it that they make available a Stock Android 2.2 rom through download or going to the store.  it won't be an OTA so part of the delivery scheduling is removed and it won't have Sense so most of the complexity of porting the OS to the phone will be removed.  It might still take a few weeks because it will have to be tested and approved by Verizon but if you take away the complexities that slow the process we should be able to get it more quickly.
    My basic point is Hands-free dialing is more useful to me than any of the Sense extras, and Flash is more useful that Flashlite, and most of the rest of Sense is just eye candy (unnecessary Graphics that make things pretty but don't add substance essentially just taking up system resources).  I wouldn't suggest abandoning Sense there are many that like it.  I wouldn't suggest anything more than The features of 2.2 are more useful and anticipated by me than any of the Sense UI bloatware that I have had to shut off all that I could to save battery anyway, and if it isn't possible to accomidate those of us who are admittedly nerdy tech obsessed or feature hungry/Safety Conscious then that will be considered in future phone purchases.  I expect the Incredible to be amoung the first to be update because of the HTC phones that are currently on the market it is the most popular so more resources will go into updating it first or should anyway.  It isn't just the Incredible that this would help.  Remember the Eris debacle?  How long were they working on the Droid Eris update to 2.0 only to abandon it for 2.1 which still took way too long to get out.    We complained about the Droid but in the grand scheme of Verizon's required testing for software and hardware to be approved it was fairly quick.  All I would like is the option to have it as soon as Verizon will allow it without all the features if I so choose so that I can take advantage of the features of the OS that I will use.
    That is all.  Please e-mail HTC customer service with that suggestion and see if we get anywhere.  As I say they may already be preparing Sense with 2.2 for us but if they can start doing this as general practice then perhaps with 3.0 we won't have to wait 6 months if we don't want to and we won't have issues like what happened with the Eris where it being one of the lesser popular phones and a poor seller was the last in line and likely will never see another update.  How long before we're there too?  How many updates will a phone get?  Will it get a full 2 years well if it is as difficult to prepare an update as HTC is saying then we can safely say that if it has a custom UI then you will be lucky to get one good update out of it.  Will we fall to the same thing.  Just look how many phones HTC comes out with in a year's time each bigger and badder than the last.  With this option phones will go instead of from New and shiney to Obsolete in 6 months to being New and Shiney to old news in 6 months.   There is a huge difference.  If it is obsoleted in 6 months Like the Eris was no updates, no fun, and before your updates you can't install any new apps.  If it is Old news in 6 months Like the Droid did ok so it isn't the top of the heap everyone is talking about it but you still can get updates because they aren't an act of congress to come up with, It can still be fun, Still run new apps and software.

    Think Incredible owners will get preferential treatment due to the shortage?
    I wonder if vzw shot a "big red" bullet at HTC for this shortage problem and created a faster update toward 2.2? Maybe that's why were supposed to get that 720p/hotspot update someday?
    I'm sure politically someone got something but the question is what? Probably has nothing to do with this phone.
    My guess is that HTC is getting slammed by the customers about 2.2 and they don't have the resources to catch up. Creating new UI's, Phones, pushing updates, fighting legal suites, back orders, shortages,  etc.
    I think this company is in over it's head and it's going to take a bit to dig out. When it does thought.... It'll be huge!
    Whats that email link? I'll send them a plea.

  • FRUSTRATED With Battery Life (or should I say lack of)  Incredible vs. Fascinate

    I got the Droid Incredible in January  (my first smartphone) and for the most part - I love it.  I HATE, however, the lack of battery life on this phone.   I have searched the forums and done pretty much all the suggestions from disabling background data & auto sync, changing sync for mail, weather, news, facebook, etc. to either manual, once a day or every 6 hours, I have ATK (although I know there is some disagreement on if it is good or bad), I have my widgets on the screen and my gps, wifi, etc. is always off unless I am using it)   and charged the battery last night as suggested by keeping phone on and charging til light was green, then turning phone off (while plugged in) and charging until green and then turning phone on and the battery almost seems worse now.     I find it a bit ridiculous that you have to jump through all these hoops to try and extend your battery life if you are simply using the features of the phone.  Isn't that what a smartphone is for basically?
    I got up this morning, sent two emails and played one game of spades and my battery went down to almost half!!!!    That just doesn't seem right to me.  I usually spend (not at all once) maybe 4 hours a day of phone use??    I charge my battery either twice or at least once a day --
    I am curious if the battery life of a Fascinate is battery than that of the Droid???      Or, does anyone have any other suggestions for me?   TIA!

    @EmsMom, I know it sounds ridiculous, but the "bump charging" technique did help me a lot. But one difference in how you described it vs. how I do it is, after switching off the phone, I let it get to green. Then unplug and replug. It again takes some time to get to green. I do this about two times and have seen improvement. Other than that, I did post about my specific settings a while back on here. Here's the link:
    http://community.vzw.com/t5/DROID-Incredible-by-HTC/After-2-2-this-phone-is-trash/m-p/286838#M12260
    Keep in mind. If you use other market apps that need to sync regularly, you need to monitor their refresh settings as well.How much battery you end up using also depends on individual usage patterns. So, if nothing else works, I guess you are then left with an option of getting an extended battery.
    At the end of it all, I do agree with you! There needs to be some serious research and upgrade to the battery technology to keep up with all these smartphones and how we use them.
    Hope this helps!

  • Incredible?? really?

    I have been a Verizon customer for many years now and I am debating to jump ship.  I like the coverage of Verizon but there is a lack of quality in every device I have seen them put out for the past 3 years.
    I currently have a BB 8330.  I am on my 4th one in 13 months.  I had two 8830's before that in a matter of 6 months.  I want to blame RIM but I've learned that the carrier actually manufactures the devices.  Correct me if i'm wrong.  I've read nothing but problems with Verizon blackberries.  Don't even get me going on the poorly executed under tested Storm.  Garbage.
    fastforward to now!
    I saw the incredible commercials, researched the info and started to get a little excited.  Not an iphone fan boy but a technology fan, I have come to appreciate the iphone and its glory.  However, I believe in competition as it only benefits the customer.
    After looking over the incredible I saw potential and wanted to have this device.  That is when reality bit me.
    Sprint is releasing the Evo on Friday and this phone should've been called the incredible because it makes the incredible look like a toy.
    The incredible's screen is only 3.7 the evo is 4.3.  The incredbile can't record hd video, the evo can.  The incredible only has 512 rom while the evo has 1gig of rom.  Evo has hdmi port and dual cameras.  If Verizon is pushing skype as a service for so many smart phones, updates your blackberry with the **bleep** app for download without my permission, why build a next gen phone without a front facing camera?
    I will tell you why.
    Verizon like Microsoft is rushing products off the assembly line without proper testing.  they see an old model as a solution but failed miserably in the early 90's.  which is, build it, fix the major bugs but let the customer be our true test.  While we are buying these subpart incomplete devices, they reap the benefits of our calls and complaints.  so, while john doe bought his phone with  2 year contract to save 200 bucks on a device thats worth half that, he is stuck and can't upgrade from a manufacturers mistake.
    While companies like ATT and sprint know that the coverage can always be added to, its the devices which matter.  I am tired of it.
    Why all of you buy into the hype and continue to support the beast, I will never know.  I am not upgrading to anything new verizon has to offer and if they dont offer something competitive soon, I'll pay the 175.00 early termination fee and go to a carrier worth dealing with.  I don't want a polished turd, I want a device worth the over priced mark up you're pitching, Mr. Man.
    This incredible is anything BUT incredible.  It has a small screen, low batt life, only 16 gig support and screams "patching needed".
    Verizon is feeling the pinch and I know this because I got a random email from them asking a simple question "survey.  why did you cancel service recently?"  hahaha, really?  I haven't but that leak means people are jumping ship for a better device, especially with plan rates like sprint that has also invested millions in their network.
    I'm a verizon customer now as with most my family, but if they don't do something to address the lack of quality in their devices, I have not problem dealing with a dropped call once in a while at ATT.  At least I know that can be addressed with adding services to that area vs costing me 300-600 for a new device every few months.
    Thank you,
    Keith H.

    "While companies like ATT and sprint know that the coverage can always be added to, its the devices which matter"
    if coverage is so easily added then why is that ATT's biggest problem...still? didn't the iphone come out like 3 years ago? and a few years later that is still a complaint.
    also...do blackberries all run great on other networks? i'm not that familiar with them and have never owned one. i'm just guessing if you're gripe is with blackberries, wouldn't that have nothing to do with vzn? like i said, i'm not that familiar, but are you telling me a bb on ATT or sprint runs just fine?
    2 quick true stories.
    my buddy from chicago comes out to visit me a year and a half ago. he had just got his new iphone and we were goin golphing in north scottsdale. i live in phoenix and it's about a half hour drive to the course. he goes on about everything his new phone can do for almost the entire ride (he couldn't wait to try out his golf gps app....the funnty thing is that any decent course out here has gps on the golf carts). it was nice out and the course was packed so the round was taking about an hour and a half longer than normal. our wives were meeting us for dinner and we were obviously going to be late. anyone who is married knows that if you're going to be late for dinner with the wives then a heads up phone call is a MUST. halfway through the round my buddy asks if he can borrow my phone. i ask "why?" he says "i need to call and let the wife know we're runnin late (i had already texted my wife)." i said "sure, but what's wrong with your new iphone?"    we both knew what was wrong....i just couldn't help but ask the question.
    this past winter i go to an az cardinal football game. we get there early and i'm with another friend of mine with an iphone. on the way in he's showing me his cool new cbs sports app that he can use to manage his fantasy team. we are in the same fantasy football league and i'm checking (my env touch....non smart phone) for injury updates (just using the browser). i sub one of my players when i realize he's not playing that day. my buddy asks to borrow my phone. again...."why?" i ask. "i need to see if any of my guys are benched" he says. "what about that app you showed me outside?" he replies "no signal in here."
    so maybe i'll always be a few months behind the technology. and maybe other phones on other carriers will be capable of doing a few more things than mine......but my phone will call my wife when i need to. it will browse the web whenever i want. it will send text, email, or MMS messages (and recieve them) whenever i need it to from wherever i may be. i live in AZ and travel all over the state. it is nothing but desert and mountains once you get outside of the city....and i never lose a signal. i have friends on sprint, att, and tmobile that can't do what they want sometimes....IN THE CITY. i prefer to have the best coverage and maybe slightly less superior devices, than superior devices with significantly less coverage that prevents the use of those superior devices. but that's just me.

  • Incredible Issue with length of time to view mms

    I need to know if this is a setting that can be changed ? if this is just how the phones is? or if its a defect?
    When I open a picture message I am only able to view for 5 seconds then the picture goes back to all message screen? I have to continue to click it open. I have checked all settings I can think off I even did a factory reset. Does anyone else have this issue? Or now the solution?

    Ok yea I figured that out to but you have the same issue to, I still would like to know if all Incredibles do that  or if maybe its just a setting we missed.
    Thank you

  • Upgrading from HTC Incredible (3G version) to HTC Rezound, need to transfer ALL data

    Well, what the title says. Can someone please tell me ( in clear, intelligent, unbroken ENGLISH!) how to transfer EVERYTHING from my old phone to the new?
    Neither phone is <Deleted> or in any way modified, and I don't plan on changing that. So far, I have the Rezound fully charged, but I have not, and will not so much as turn it on until I know I can get everything transferred.
    By everything, I mean pretty much everything. Not just contacts. I want all my app data. There is no way I'm losing 2+ years of progress in all 6 versions of Angry Birds! I need all my text messages (SMS/MMS) to "magically appear" on the new phone, just as if they had originally been received on it, with conversations and reply ability intact. I want my web browsing history transferred. I want all my photos,etc.. transferred. Essentially, I refuse to accept anything less then turning on my new phone and having it appear and function as though my "old" phone had simply magically grew a bigger screen, with no other changes. The bigger screen is the only reason I'm getting a new phone anyway, so I see no reason to give up anything I already have, or to be inconvenienced by lost data. I don't want to hear that this isn't possible. YES, it is, from a technological stand-point. With the high prices Verizon charges for service, along with this ridiculous $30 "upgrade" fee, I expect them to find a way to make it happen. I shouldn't have to jump through hoops, or pay for some 3rd party app, or be <Deleted per the ToS>. Ultimately, if this can't be done the way I want, I will drop kick the new phone across the parking lot a few times and send it back, along with a demand for a bill credit for the screen protector and case I already bought and installed and can't send back.
    So, can anybody please help me, with clear, specific instructions and/or direct links to said info? I don't need "my cousin's brother's next door neighbor might have heard of some app that they think exists" or "Forget it, dude", or "Get over it" ,etc... type responses.

    You cant, all you can do is transfer your, contacts, pics and music, and maybe bookmarks from your browser. If the app does not have its own backup feature, you wont be able transfer your data. Sorry. I feel your pain, I went from Incredible 2 to Rezound. Rezound to Razr M, even then, no backup feature in app, I still could not transfer app data.. Those app ******** (lol)
    I know this was not the answer you were looking for, Sorry.

  • I've given up on the HTC Incredible

    I thought maybe FROYO would make things better, but it didn't.  The HTC Incredible was a super everything-else-but-a-phone smart phone.  I just couldn't hear some folk who I talked to on the phone; they were usually on another cellphone. Sometimes words got dropped, or the sound quality as too shrill.  All landline calls, and bluetooth earpiece managed calls, were excellent (although reception inside buildings was not terrific).  But since most folks I know used cellphones, I couldn't take it anymore and had to give up.  I used one of the other upgrade plans in my family plan to get a Samsung Fascinate.  Its only has 2.1 but, as a phone, it is great.  I have no regrets dumping the Incredible other than the money that I wasted.  I even had to have the original Incredible I purchased replaced because of memory issues.
    My RIM Blackberry Curve was probably the best phone I've ever owned, except that the internet experience was just awful. But as a  phone, nothing was as good...even the Samsung.

    I feel the same about my former Blackberry Bold and 8800. Blackberry knows/knew how to build a good solid handset.

  • Returning my (2) Droid Incredibles and going back to AT&T iPhones

    I decide to get rid of my iphones because of constant dropped calls on AT&T service in NYC area. However I was only able to tolerate the Incredible for 7 days before switching back to AT&T and my iPhones. Here are the reasons:
    1) Call Quality- The call quality on the HTC Incredible was horrible on both my devices. I don't attribute this to Verizon and think it has to be on the HTC end. I spoke with a Verizon Corp store yesterday and they said that HTC is working on a ROM update to fix this issue and there is no current ETA. What happens is on calls the sound gets scratchy and is very difficult to hear and words that come over the line keep dropping. So if someone is speaking you only hear about every other word. It is extremely annoying and I can't believe that HTC and Verizon would release a phone with such a defect.  Since there is no ETA for a fix I'm going back to my iphone since the calls are always crystal clear and the service sometimes intermittent. Here is  the link to a thread on HTC about the issue.

    2) Ease of Use -  The layout on the Incredible is very difficult and not as polished as an iphone. Using an iphone is so easy. The incredible takes a lot of extra buttons to do some simple things. Like using the address book. The iphone has the alphabet Vertically in the contacts so you can quickly hit the last name of a person you need to reach.
    3) Cut & Paste in Gmail-  There is no cut/ past in gmail client. I primarily  bought this device because I'm a heavy gmail user and i thought it would be better integrated in which case it is. You can get all your labels, star items etc. But I can't believe there is no cut/paste function in Gmail client. What a waste.  Apple went thru so much when the first 3g phone came outyou think soemone would be listening or remember that.
    4) Screen is unusable outside-  The phone can't be used outside in any type of clear sunny day. I practically got hit by a car in manhattan because I was trying to pull up a phone number which is extrmely difficult to begin with ( see item # 2) and you can't see anything because of the OLED screen. This is a big difference from the iphone.
    5) Media Management( Music, Video) -  This is definitely a big downgrade coming from an ipod/ itunes experience. I use my ipod a lot so this experience stinks. Not as easy to use.
    6) Battery Life/Multitask -  Since the phone does Multitask you have to always be aware of what services are running in the background. If you don't your phone won't last long.  Again I feel that isn't polished enough for everyday use and they are going to have to keep designing the multitask to manage battery power effectively. This reminds of the old PC days were you had to keep hitting CTRL+ ALT + DEL to kill services. Why bother, I can't manage a phone like a PC device. This is 2010.
    My overall experiece is that I think there is still alot of work that needs to be done on the OS layer and Hardware layer to get this phone to compete with an iphone experiece. Apple does quality very good, i feel that this phone has very bad quality.
    How in the world can you design a phone that you can't even see the screen outside in the sun. Just mind boggling.

    i use mine in the sun too with no problems. there's a glare if it's at the wrong angle, but no worse than any phone i've had. you can also adjust the screen's brightness, etc.
    my call quality is fine, but i have seen a NUMBER of complaints about this...i just haven't had that issue.
    as far as my address book goes...i jus start typing the name i want and it narrows down to the the person i want. usually 3 touches to the screen and i'm there. doesn't seem to be too much work.  (type a and all a's show up. then m and it narrows to amy and amanda and i jus touch the one i want). i actually love the way it handles it.
    battery life/multitask....i downloaded an app killer.....and i just periodically kill the running apps with one touch. i get a full day off of a charge, which is good enough for me. i also ordered 2 spare batteries (ebay for $12...and they came with a wall charger). i switch out the battery in about 10 seconds in the morning, and only have to charge everything sunday night and wed or thurs. i've never had an iphone, but i've seen stories of having to make an appointment to go to the store to buy and have apple change your battery??? that may be exagerated though.
    media....if you're an ipod guy then the iphone is prolly better for you. i just don't like the level of control that apple has over everything. i have a zune and my wife has a zen. i find it MUCH easier to manage our music and videos between our devices and the incredible (particularly using an sd card). i've never been a fan of the ipod...but if that's what you have and like, then i'm sure the iphone is much more compatible.
    i guess cut and paste is an issue. i just don't use it or have a need so i didn't realize it doesn't do that?
    the new iphones are coming soon and i'm sure they are better than the old. hopefully they'll include some pretty basic and convenient features, like expandable memory and the ability to change your own battery (maybe they do?? i don't follow them...but i've heard they should be pretty sweet....and apple usually doesn't disappoint it's following).

  • When I plug my Droid Incredible 2 into a car charger the phone is now permanently in"Car Mode" and won't get out. I heard that Droid will fix this, but it hasn't happened.  Does anyone know how to fix i

    I have a Droid Incredible 2 phone.  I bought  car charger and ever since I have used it, the phone thinks it is in "car mode" even when the phone is in my home, my purse,...I sets to speaker and I can not hear the phone ring.  It freezes on "car mode".  I heard that Droid is supposed to be fixing the problem, but nothing has happened yet.  Is anyone else having this problem, and does anyone at Verizon know when/if this will be fixed.  If not, I expect a new phone from Verizon.

    there are two ways, usually if u restart the phone it will reset, but the other is going to your system and shut it off manually...
