Incredibly Long Extraction Times
I have been trying to insert a series of PowerPoint slides, converted to jpegs into a taped lecture using a new MacBook Pro 15" with the latest Leopard OS and dual processor...nothing else running but IMovieHD from ILife 08
When I paste the image at the playhead, it is set to extract the lecturer's audio, but I am experiencing really long render times for the extraction. Clips of virtually any length take about 8 minutes to extract and if the image straddles two different clips, I have to sit through two renders which can take 15-20 minutes. Even if the first portion of the straddle covers only a few frames of the first clip, it still takes at least 8 minutes to render that portion and then it does a second render...again of around 8 minutes.
For a project of any length with lots of inserts like this, having to wait this length of time for every render is agonizing. I can't believe it actually should be taking so long to complete this task. Am I doing something wrong?
Yes, If what you want is a slide show, then the easiest way is to put all the slides, in order, in an iPhoto album.
Then drag the whole iPhoto album into a new project. If you want to set a default KBE/crop, transition type and length, etc. It is easiest to do this in project preferences before you drag in the album. You can add music to the slideshow and do further edits.
The comment about dragging a jpeg to a video clip applies if you are trying to keep the main "voice track" from the video playing while superimposing jpegs over the video footage.
Also, if you need no video footage, and the video is only being used as a voice track, you would probably be better off creating the slide show, and then exporting it to the media browser. Then use Garageband to record the voice track.

Incredibly Long Lag Time When Working With Effects in Premiere Pro CC 2014
I am having incredibly long lag times when working with effects in Premier Pro CC 2014. Like 60 seconds or more. This also happens periodically when I am doing something as simple as cutting into a timeline (just ripple deleting from and in to an out point).
I have a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.9.4 2 GHz Intel Core i7 with 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.
I have seen that some people are having different versions of the same problem. I do have RedGiant plug-ins, but I am not using any of them in this project. The Red Giant plugs (again, not being used in the project) include MOJO and Universe. The previous version most certainly did not work like this. Any ideas? I did try moving the Red Giant plugs out of the COMMON folder and "alt" starting up to reset preferences. Still having same problems.
A specific example is I have an interview shot. I add brightness and contrast. Just making a change to the effect (increasing brightness) causes freezing of the interface and long delays. I added a piece of transparent video on a top layer to add a CIRCLE to create a vignette effect. Same deal -- ridiculously long times for effect changes to take place.
Does anyone have any clues as to how to fix these problems?
THANKS FOR ANYONE'S HELP!!!!!!!Got the same Error. Previous I worked with a GTX 760, and was hoping to get it fixed with using a GTX 780 6GB. But just as you, didn't solve the Problem.
Usually I got the Problem solved, with exiting Premiere, restarting it, reset my Workspace. Then the Problem of having the bugged Workspace was gone. And also the Problem of the missing Video Tracks.
At the moment I started on a new Project. Pretty simple, with only a 21 second DV footage. And here I was switching tabs with my Browser, came back to the Project, and the Video Tracks were gone. I saved, closed Premiere, restated and the Video Tracks are still missing.
So I made a new Sequence, voilá the Video Tracks are there. Thus I need to copy and paste the Tracks onto the new Sequence.
But that is not really a solution!
I was on the Phone with Adobe, and on Chat, but they couldn't help me. They suggested to get a Tesla or Quadro Card, or at least a GPU that got confirmed as working on their page. I did that, but obviously, that is not the issue. -
Incredibly long wait times [SOLVED]
anyone have any idea why I'd be getting *incredibly* long wait times on my server? [http://omploader.org/vNTRuYg]
it only seems to affect my wordpress installation, though.. everything else seems ok. I don't get it.
EDIT: changing the SCRIPT_FILENAME fastcgi_param to $document_root$fastcgi_script_name seemed to help quite a bit.

How to reduce long extraction time - Generic extractor based on view
Hello. The previous thread about this error was closed without any answer.
I'm in the same configuration.
"Using a generic extractor (Delta enabled on confirmation date) based on view to load data from ECC6 to BI.
Now my issue is that the delta extraction is running for a long time (around 1 hr) even if the data volume is very small
While checking the job overview in source system i saw that the job is hanging at the below step for almost 1 hr."

YannParth Kulkarni,
following the note and the other thread, I've check the index 4 of the table COEP.
Here is what I got:
Index ID COEP - 4
Short text MANDT/TIMESTMP/OBJNR, Index for Delta read method (CO-PA)
Last changed SAP 04.01.2010
Status Active Saved
Does not exist in the database
DB index nme
Not defined as DB index in the ABAP Dictionary
Is the fact that it doesn't exist in the database a problem ?
Is the fact that it is active is good enough ?
By the way thanks for your speedy reply !

Incredibly long restore time on new iPhone?
Apple exchanged my iPhone 3g today, no questions asked and that was a good thing. I brought it home and plugged it into iTunes to restore it and it sat there for 3 hours...still not restored.
It moves at an acceptable rate until it hits approx. 3/4 of the way done (on the progress bar), and then it just sits there for an hour.......
Any wisdom on that subject?
Thanks to all!how did you end up fixing this issue?

Logic Pro takes incredibly long time to start
Dear forums
I noticed not long ago that Logic Pro takes an incredibly long time to start. I know I have quite a number of plugins installed and I guess it's going through the plugin folder to initialize all of them and look for new ones. Fair enough.
But it takes 2 minutes to finally show a splash screen and after 2 minutes and 20 seconds I can finally start using Logic Pro. Is that normal or am I the only one?
Interestingly, I noticed that after the upgrade to Aperture 3.1, also Aperture suddenly took a long time to load. Also almost exactly 2 minutes and 20 seconds (and I barely have plugins in Aperture). Usually you start the software and spend some hours with it, I know. But I jump in and out of apps a lot and the loading times are quite annoying. I think 2.5 minutes are quite a loading time. I can boot my whole Mac 4x in that timeframe.
Any ideas where that might be coming from? Is that normal and am I being too picky? Thanks for a reality checkCreated new user account. Same thing. Logic took over 2 minutes to even start validating all the installed AU plugins (first thing it does on a new user account). After that, another start took also 2 minutes until the "choose project template" dialog appeared.
I read some posts that mounted USB sticks or flash cards could make Aperture super slow when importing photos. I have Boot Camp installed and have a Windows 7 NTFS partition on the same drive as my MacOS. So, out of curiosity, I forced it to unmount as the partition automatically gets mounted by the OS.
Voilà! That seems to have been the culprit! Now both Logic and Aperture display the splash screen in seconds and start like they are supposed to. Thanks for your help. Without your suggestions I probably would have never tried this. -
Long duration time extraction BKPF table
I have access to SAP R/3 on a Oracle database.
For one object GL Open Items I need to extract all required data from 2 tables BSIS and BKPF. (=select all open items of required G/L Accounts)
Selection Criteria as follows:
step 1:Select BSIS records on MANDT, BUKRS and HKONT (from a list of GL Accounts).
step 2:Select BKPF records where:
- BSIS-MANDT=BKPF-MANDT
- BSIS-BUKRS=BKPF-BUKRS
- BSIS-GJAHR=BKPF-GJAHR
- BSIS-BELNR=BKPF-BELNR
I have used SQL statements in order to get the data out of SAP but this will lead to an enormous long duration time, caused by the BKPF table. Therefore I need to improve my performance of BKPF.
Do you have a solution in how to fasten the BKPF data extraction? (other tooling/special code written, etc.)? SQL tooling is not a must!
ThanksLong duration time extraction BKPF table

Long load times and poor application performance
We have packaged and deployed Adobe CC using SCCM within my school division. It pushed out fine, but now when we attempt to open Photoshop (or any other CC app) it has unusually long load times. 2-4 minutes. It seems to be hanging at the "Reading preferences" stage. After the application appears to have started, it takes an unusually long time to actually start working in the application (it appears to just hang).
Hello There,
EXE's always bundle additional files because it is a stand-alone entity. And, if the size 9GB then it will surely take time to load all the files. I'll check with the team again on how we can optimize it. BTW, are the videos inserted as slide video or Event video?
Thanks,
Vish -
Long Load Times on Graphic Intensive Games
I'm experiencing some absurdly long load times (1-3 hours) with many games (SPORE, Portal, X:3, etc...) that I believe may be related to how graphically intensive they are. Older games with lower graphics quality (WoW, Civ 4, etc...) load up fine.
When I load any newer game the icon appears in the tray and the computer does nothing else for at least an hour, whereupon the program loads and begins playing immediately--often without any further delays or issues.
I also use Boot Camp to run Windows Vista (Ultimate 32) and experience no delays when running SPORE on Windows.

Long loading time if no internet connection available (VS 2005 Redist)
Hallo forum members!
I've been searching for a solution for my problem for a while - without success. It isn't really a critical issue, but quite annoying anyways.
Here's the problem i'm dealing with: I've developed an .NET application using Visual Studio 2005 and the included Crystal Report classes. When deploying my module everything works as expected, offering a decent performance when loading the Crystal Report assemblies provided by the redistributable package - if an internet connection is available. If the system doesn't offer such a connection (e.g. not properly configured proxy settings) the module takes a huge amount of time to be loaded. An examination (using ProcMon) leaded to the conclusion that the Crystal Report assemblies try to retrieve the system connection settings from the registry in order to establish a connection to the internet. This is done only once when loading for the first time.
Has anyone experienced the same problem? What is this connection used for? Is there a way to suppress this behaviour on systems without a valid internet connection in order to avoid this annoying long loading time?
Thanks on advance for your help.
Greetings,
L.F.Nothing like a good vacation. And I got your christmas present early :). While you were away we (actually one other customer) figured it out. I have written a note re. the resolution that was supposed to be published yesterday, but it's still not out there, so here it is as I submitted it:
Symptom
When a report is loaded is takes between 150 - 180 seconds to display
This is only reproducible on computers with no internet connection
There are no error messages and the report comes up eventually
Reproducing the Issue
Create a Windows application with the following function calls:
new Report()
report.SetDataSource(dataSet)
The function SetDataSource takes 2 plus minutes to execute
Cause
On SetDataSource() an attempt is made to connect to crl.verisign.com
SetDataSource() uses the framework and as per the Microsoft Knowledge Base specified under "Resolution", it is actually the framework that is attempting the connection
Resolution
Solution is described in this Microsoft Knowlege Base:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936707
The following Microsoft article also discusses the issue:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb629393.aspx
An alternative workaround to the above is as follows:
Open IE and go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options...
Go to the Advanced tab
Find the Security heading
Under the Security heading find "Check for publisher's certificate revocation"
Uncheck this option
Keywords
long time load crl.verisign.com certificate revoked internet
The note will be published here:

and the number will be 1270414

So I'm using a Canon D30 (3.1 megapixel). My ISO speed is set to 100, but when take phots at very slow shutter speeds I get a lot of noise. And I mean a lot. Can anybody help?
Long exposure time is the 2nd main way to get noise in an image. Not a lot you can do other than post processing. How long an exposure? Perhaps a compromise like ISO 200 and a shutter that is half as long (twice as fast) would be slightly better if you played around with it. Or perhaps that would be even worse.

LONG lag time switching from other programs to Flash
(Intec-Mac - OSX - 1.5 GB RAM)
Has anyone heard of this before? Any time I switch from any
other open program to a project in Flash, I get a super long wait
time before I'm able to work with Flash again. The lag time
only happens when switching to Flash (I get the spinning
ball of death while the Flash menus load again -EVERY time!)
This happens no matter if I have just Flash open and I'm
switching from the finder back to it or if I have 15 programs open
at once...
It is super frustrating and slowing down my workflow between
Flash and any other programs! I just uninstalled and reinstalled
hoping it would help but got same result - Any help?Your best bet at this point in time is more RAM, since the
Flash IDE on
mac is only PPC at this time it runs emulated in Rosetta on
Intel macs,
and I've noticed swap times can be quite slow, this is not
unique to
Flash in my experience, it happens whenever I swap in a
resource
intensive app. Parallels is another prime example - and it is
intel
native.
Adobe engineers appear to have a new found love of the Mac,
so we can
only hope the intel native version ships it will be super
zippy.

I recently upgraded to 10.6.7 and Safari 5.05. Safari now has a long load time when you initially boot it up and when selecting a new tab. Other than that it works fine. What can I do ?
Check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, relaunch Safari.
If it's not Extensions, check for third party Safari add ons.

How do I deal with project bloat? Long Save time is getting worse?
Here are the FB posts I have got about this issue. I tried to paste them neatly but didn't work.
To be honest I am baffled that such an advanced NLE has so many issues. There should be a warning about the Warp Stabilizer messing up a project I had no idea till now.
This was my question to a PP user group on FB.
I am cutting a 60+ minute doc with lots of source material and the project takes a dogs age to save now which is beginning to interrupt my workflow. I would have thought the save would take less time depending on how much work was done since the last save. I suppose working with Proxies might be the solution but I am already 70% done.
Here are the responses
Saving the project file on an SSD might be a good idea.
Your project size is slowing you down. Create a couple of projects, each containing a part of the footage. Organized in bins as needed. Call them footage projects. Create an other project named edit and cut in there. Use the media browser to browse the footage projects. Import what you need and use search bins to keep it organized.
If you didn't transcode your footage before you started the project it could be part of the problem. And like the other post says only having the footage you are currently working on will also help. The claim that you don't have to transcode when working in Premiere is misleading because in most cases when working with many different source codecs transcoding will always improve your computers performance.
I had the exact same experience cutting a 90 min feature with 120 hours of Pro Res 4444 footage. Long save times are caused by project bloat, either by having too many assets loaded or a lot of warp stabilizer effects applied. Transcoding will only affect playback performance and exports - it doesn't sound like it's the problem in this case.
only some codecs (4K GoPro, 6K R3D, lengthy h264/AVCHD clips for example) benefit from transcoding and will be snappier and playback smoother. But transcoding will never ever help the loading or saving time of your project
Don't apply warp stabilizsr to everything. All those coordinates get stored in project file
All I can say is that I worked on a Premiere project in November where my computer spent up to 5-7 minutes scanning through all the different directories with footage after the project was open before I could play back the sequences in my project. I ha...
some of the ftg is in need of stabilization so I did use the warp stabilizer but not excessively. 15 x 3-10 second clips. Is there a way of managing the storage of the coordinates too minimize the hit on the project size?
nope. Try importing existing project into a new project.
I usually stabilize footage in a separate project to avoid huge project files, and export the stabilized result. Then I use the stabilized version in the main project.
I also work with Nested Sequences a lot. Working in short, manageable timelines. When opening a large project, Premiere will find the footage for the active sequence first, so I can start working quickly, while Premiere is still finding the rest of the footage.
Could do your warp stabilizing in AE and export renders of them, then import those renders into your project so the are just media files instead of files with stabilizer tracking points.I usually stabilize footage in a separate project to avoid huge project files, and export the stabilized result. Then I use the stabilized version in the main project.
That would be something like the advice I would have given
and more likely...
Save heavy duty FX application until after you have locked down your edit. (eg Blurs , Warp, 3rd party FX(MB)
I Create separate sequences or Duplicate Projects for many reasons. eg CC/Grade and
Warp Stabiliser ...definitely. Its even has a slow save impact on After Effects Projects!

My images look great at 100%, even 150%, when working with them in .fla. When I export to .swf, however, it goes to hell. Are there preferences I'm missing somewhere to rectify this? Attached are the two images, working .fla and the exported .swf.

How to create a "Recent Files" type portlet?
I have a request to create a "recent files" type portlet that would be specific to each user on our Intranet -- I'm guessing something similar to how MS Word's Recent Documents or IE's History works. Any ideas?
