Increment and Save command

The "Increment and Save" command in After Effects serves the fundamental need in professional creative work of preserving the various development stages of a job. Cinema 4D and other pro software packages also have this. Illustrator should too.

Autosaviour Pro auto saves your Adobe Illustrator artwork
and they have incremental backups.

  • Increment and Save

Is there an increment and save and I just don't see it and if not would it be possible to add this?

MM, I understand your suggestions, yet none of them really suits my needs.
The option that gets the closest is auto-save but then I am back in the situation that I don't like where I have to blindly trust an automated feature
The thing is, I started editing wedding videos. I don't do the "main" edit that the couple will upload to social media etc, I rather work on turning the bulk of the wedding day (6-10hours of video) into one hour for the family to watch later.
If this is to be lucrative for me, I need to be able to do at least one of said videos per day!!
Thus, I am looking for any and all features that will save time and distraction (as well as discomfort) - filenaming and pop-up box clicking being one of them ( I don't use the mouse much while working on the most timeconsuming part - the trimming)
I am alone in this situation?
And again, is it something that can be scripted?

  • Track New, Open, Close and Save Recording Info.

    Hi,
New to the Photoshop SDK and as such would appreciate a push in the right direction
I need i way to track New, Open, Close and Save commands and record document name and ID.
Anyone have some sample code showing this?
    Kind Regards
    Flemming

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
It's fine in almost any situations, except one.
When working on a new document and the user chooses to save, but in another format than psd, let's say a jpg file.
Photoshop of cause saves it as a copy and then there is no way to detect the full path and name of that file.
At least not in any way I can see.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Retrieve data from a text file, incrementing the last value and save new value below

    Hi
This was working initially. It is part of my LabView Project. I was trying to create a unique number that increments every time the adds the value to the list. It works on computer perfectly. But when I put this on a PDA, it seems to create a blank space when reading the contents of the text file after the last value, which means 0 + 1, which is not what I want.
Please run the testUniqueNoOnPDA.vi first and change the path to C:\uniqueNumber.txt and save the uniqueNumber.txt file to your C drive and see What I am trying to do. Click the Enter button to increment.
Why does the PDA create a blank space after the last value and a computer does not?
I was working perfectly all week and it is not working well now.
Help please, I think I'm missing something

It works perfectly, it was a hardware problem. It depends on what PDA I used.

    Hey all ,
I was looking for a code where i can execute the command "arp -a" in CMD to get a list of all MAC and ip adresses
connected on the network and save them for further use is this possible or not .. please if possible if any 1 can supply me with the code i would be grateful ... thnks for ur time
    Best Regards,
    MIG()ZZZZ

the list of ip and mac of connected computers to the networkThere really isn't a way of doing this because in TCP/IP 'connected' doesn't have a well-defined meaning, so there is no such thing as 'the list' either. If it's a Windows LAN you might find something in Samba that will do it, I don't know.
What's it all for? There are also IP broadcast and multicast facilities, could be what you're really looking for.

  • Capture and Save SQL Command that Ran in OLEDB Data Source

    Hi,
My company is using SSIS to occasionally generate a file that is then being loaded into a transactional system.  At this point, things are not fully automated; the SQL query that is used for the data source is manually altered, SSIS is run, and the
file is uploaded to the other system.  Every time the SSIS package runs, a log entry is created with summary information.
I'm wondering: is it possible to capture the SQL command that runs in the data source, and save it with the log entry as part of the package run?  This would provide an accurate historical record of what filters were applied to the data that was loaded
    to the transactional system.
    Any thoughts/comments would be appreciated.

    Hello Smith,
What I understood from your question that you want to know the query which is running in SSIS Data Source and same you want to insert into a table.
Below query gives you what all queries are currently running on a specified DB:
    USE [SAMPLE_DB_NAME]
    SELECT  distinct getdate(), command, s.text, start_time, percent_complete, CAST(((DATEDIFF(s, start_time, GetDate())) / 3600) AS int) AS Long, CAST((DATEDIFF(s, start_time, GetDate()) % 3600) / 60 AS int) as LongMin, CAST(((DATEDIFF(s,
                          start_time, GetDate())) / 3600) AS varchar) + ' hour(s), ' + CAST((DATEDIFF(s, start_time, GetDate()) % 3600) / 60 AS varchar) + 'min, ' + CAST((DATEDIFF(s,
                           start_time, GetDate()) % 60) AS varchar) + ' sec' AS running_time, CAST((estimated_completion_time / 3600000) AS varchar)
                          + ' hour(s), ' + CAST((estimated_completion_time % 3600000) / 60000 AS varchar) + 'min, ' + CAST((estimated_completion_time % 60000)
                          / 1000 AS varchar) + ' sec' AS est_time_to_go, dateadd(second, estimated_completion_time / 1000, getdate()) AS est_completion_time, blocking_session_id, r.status, last_wait_type,
    r.open_transaction_count, r.session_id, client_net_address,
     CONVERT(VARCHAR(20), sp.host_name) as hostname,
CASE WHEN program_name = '.Net SqlClient Data Provider                      ' THEN 'Reporting Service'
     ELSE CONVERT(VARCHAR(50), program_name)
     END as program_name,
     sp.login_name as name
    FROM         sys.dm_exec_requests r CROSS APPLY sys.dm_exec_sql_text(r.sql_handle) s INNER JOIN
                          sys.sysusers u ON r.user_id = u.uid
    INNER JOIN sys.dm_exec_connections dec ON dec.session_id = r.session_id INNER JOIN SYS.dm_exec_sessions sp on r.session_id = sp.session_id
WHERE text not like 'SELECT     getdate(), command, s.text, start_time, percent_complete%'
    AND text not like '%sys.sp_trace_getdata%'
    AND text != 'sp_server_diagnostics'
    ORDER BY start_time
You can schedule this query to run in 2-3 second and can capture the T-SQL and insert into a table.

  • DAC Commands for Incremental and Full load

    Hi,
I'm implementing BIApps 7.9.6.1 for a customer. For R12 container, I noticed for 5 DAC tasks the command for Incremental and Full load starts with "@DAC_" and ends with "_CMD". Due to this, the ETL load fails. Is this a bug..?
    Thanks,
    Seetharam

You may want to look at Metalink note ID 973191.1:
    Cause
The 'Load Into Source Dimension', has the following definition:
-- DAC Client > Design > Tasks > Load Into Source Dimension > Command for Incremental Load = '@DAC_SOURCE_DIMENSION_INCREMENTAL'
    and
-- - DAC Client > Design > Tasks > Load Into Source Dimension > Command for Full Load = '@DAC_SOURCE_DIMENSION_FULL'
instead of the actual Informatica workflow names.
The DAC Parameter is not substituted with appropriate values in Informatica during ETL
This is caused by the fact that COMMANDS FOR FULL and INCREMENTAL fields in a DAC Task do not allow for database specific texts as described in the following bug:
Bug 8760212 : COMMANDS FOR FULL AND INCREMENTAL SHOULD ALLOW DB SPECIFIC TEXTS
    Solution
This issue was resolved after applying Patch 8760212
The documentation states to apply Patch 8760212 to DAC 10.1.3.4.1 according to the Systems Requirements and Supported Platforms Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Data Warehouse Administration Console 10.1.3.4.1.
However, Patch 8760212 has been made obsolete, recently, in this platform and language. Please see the reason stated below on the 'Patches and Update' tab on My Oracle Support.
    Reason for Obsolescence
    Use cumulative Patch 10052370 instead.
Note: The most recent replacement for this patch is 10052370. If you are downloading Patch 8760212 because it is a prerequisite for another patch or patchset, you should verify whether or not if Patch 10052370 is suitable as a substitute prerequisite before downloading it.

  • Open and Save dialogs are painfully slow. Is there a solution?

Open and Save dialogs are painfully slow. Is there a solution?

I pulled this part out of one of the topics Barney-15E linked to. It absolutely works! The glacially slow Finder response has been driving me batty in Mavericks. Each time I restarted, it would take forever to list the startup drive when I opened it. Open and Save dialogues were also painfully slow to respond. Now they all snap open and list instantly. I used TextWrangler to comment out the line in the file auto_master, then ran the automount command in Terminal.
    Working workaround:
Use the following statements in Terminal.
    sudo vi /etc/auto_master
In this file comment out /net with #  (#/net .....)
    sudo automount -vc
    Fixed.
Confirmed here too both for Preview.app Open file sluggishness and Finder window population. Thanks Snaggletooh_DE!
    Couple of notes:
    (1) Some folks may be more comfortable using a GUI editor like TextWrangler instead of vi
         a) in the Finder use the GO menu and select Go to Folder
         b) type  '/etc' ( without single quotes ) in the Go to folder dialog box and press the Go button
         c) Right ( Control  ) click the auto_master file in the resulting Finder window. Select "Open with...." and use TextWrangler ( your choice )
         d) Comment out the line by inserting a '#' ( pound sign ) as noted in Snaggletooth_DE's instructions
         e) Save the file  ( probably need to authenticate with your admin password  )
         f) Do the 'sudo automount -vc' per Snaggletooth_DE's instructions. Will need to authenticate again.
    (2) Notice Snaggletooth_DE described this as a "workaround" because it bypasses an Apple bug. Presumably most people have not changed their auto_master file and it worked fine in Mountain Lion and prior. In other words: If you haven't done so already, please continue to submit feedback and bug reports to Apple for this issue.
Kudos to Snaggletooth_DE for figuring out code is trying to look at network ( NFS ) volumes that maybe don't exist.

  • Search c:\ drive and return file path for winword.exe and save as variable

    Hi all, here is what I'm trying to do;
    1. Search C:\ drive for winword.exe
    2. take the file path and save it as a variable.
    3. Then based on the path value, use the switch statement to run "some command"
Essentially I'm trying to find what the file path for winword.exe is, then run a command to modify the registry.  I already have the script that will modify the registry like I want but the problem it, the path is hard coded in the script, I want to
now look for all versions of word and set the right file path so I can make the right registry changes.

  • Serious problems in Illustrator CC with OSX Mavericks: Open, Place and Save windows don't stay open

I just upgraded to OSX Mavericks. After that, Illustrator started acting up. When I try to save or open a file, or place an image, the command window opens just for a second or two then closes right away. Even the Save shortcut doesn't work. I've saved the file a few times using Command-S, when I was closing it I got a warning that I had to save it. Of course, I couldn't save it using Save As or Save commands because their windows wouldn't stay open, so I had to just close it. When I opened it again, it was an older version; Illustrator just ignored my last two or three saves.
I tried restarting the computer and relaunching Illustrator, nothing worked. The problem was worse when I have InDesign open too. But just quitting InDesign didn’t always work. This morning, I had to quit and relaunch both InDesign and Illustrator a few times before the problem temporarily disappeared.
I think it might also be worth mentioning that I use Apple Trackpad, and my computer is brand new.
Is anyone else having similar problems? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks. But I always have the List View.
One lame thing worked though. I would hit the command short cut and keep hitting it for a few times. This forces the command window to stay open, and it actually helps getting ridding of the problem temporarily.
I also had a similar but nastier problem in Acrobat. I tried to save a Photoshop PDF file in Acrobat, the Save As window opened and closed right away. Then all the command menus went gray; non of the commands was available including Quit. The only option I had was to force quit Acrobat. However, I didn't have this problem when handling native Acrobat files. The good news is that my lame solution worked.

  • Open and Save dialogue boxes are useless

I have recently moved from Windows to Mac after being told I would never look back and I am already 'looking back' somewhat in terms of the OS. I work with photos and graphics and I'm on the move a lot so went for a Mac Book Pro Retina with SSD and I am not going to lie it is lightning quick and the display is beautiful. But when it comes to saving and opening workflow it does not work how I expected it would.
It seems such a simple thing but you cannot rename files from within mac open and save dialogue boxes. I'm so used to right clicking on a PC to create a new folder, hit F2 or right click and hit rename to rename to what I want then save the file into that new folder. You can also directly edit the name of the files and folders from within the open save dialogue box. If you right click on a mac you can create a new folder but it defaults to the name 'untitled folder' and you then can't change it's name. It find it unbelievable that you can not do this on a MacOS! So unbelievable that I went into an Apple store and spoke with someone there. When I showed them the problem they weren't even aware of it and pointed out I should just use finder. But that is not convenient if if you want to rename a new folder to then have to come out of the open save relocate in finder and change from there.
I know there is the new folder button down to the left hand side and you can rename the folder as soon as you create it using that but sometimes you may make a mistake and want to change it. Same with file names.
Why can't you do this on a Mac? It's crazy. After searching about, I came across the Default Folder X app which appears to fix this issue which isn't really that cheap for something I consider should be 100% native in any OS.
There are other issues that frustrate me from moving over from Windows to Mac (like the ability to snap windows to screen edges, Better Snap Tool fixed that for me at a much more reasonable price but still would have expected this to be native), which I know I will just have to get used to but this one really surprised me.
Considering I was promised so much in terms of better efficiency with work flow and ease of use overall there is still a lot that's left to be desired.

As Axeman1020 noted, the Mac OS is not Windows. Things are not going to be exactly the same. It's no different than if you went from Windows to Linux. So expect a month or so of getting used to a different OS. Once muscle memory gets used to the different keyboard commands, and just where things are in general and how they behave, it'll seem just as easy as Windows.
To answer some of your statements or questions:
It seems such a simple thing but you cannot rename files from within mac open and save dialogue boxes.
Renaming items in the Open or Save dialogue boxes are not what those are for. I know Windows allows it, but why? That's a function for the desktop so you can't accidentally change a file or folder name in a dialogue box that has nothing to do with opening a file or saving one. If opening a file, that's all you're doing. If saving, only the name of the file you're saving can be modified. That's what those dialogue boxes are for - nothing else.
Yes, you can give a file you're saving any name you like. You can even click on any name shown in the save dialogue box to give it that name if you want. You can also highlight the default name and change it.
If you right click on a mac you can create a new folder but it defaults to the name 'untitled folder' and you then can't change it's name.
Of course you can. Either highlight the folder and press Enter, or slowly click on the name twice. Either action will make the name editable.
When I showed them the problem they weren't even aware of it and pointed out I should just use Finder. But that is not convenient if you want to rename a new folder to then have to come out of the open save relocate in finder and change from there.
You're crossing over two different things. I believe you mean renaming a folder from the Save dialogue box. When you click the New Folder button, you have the opportunity to give the new folder any name you want before clicking Create.
If you type the wrong name, then yes, you have to finish the save before you can rename the folder. So either be sure you type the name in correctly before clicking Create, or change the misspelling afterwards. You're not saving any time fixing a typo within the Open dialogue box. It will take the same amount of extra time to do it there as opposed to fixing it on the desktop after you complete the save.
I know there is the new folder button down to the left hand side and you can rename the folder as soon as you create it using that but sometimes you may make a mistake and want to change it. Same with file names.
You are again trying to force a Windows feature into an OS that is not Windows. The Mac does some things that I wish Windows could do, and visa versa. However, you can't force any OS to do something it simply isn't designed to do. Expecting it to change by sheer willpower is only going to drive you crazy. You need to let go of what you want the OS to do as opposed to what it will do.
Considering I was promised so much in terms of better efficiency with work flow and ease of use overall there is still a lot that's left to be desired.
I find the Mac OS to be incredibly efficient. This from a person who has used Windows for many more years overall than the Mac OS. Yes, it took time to get used to how the Mac OS behaved. But rather than fighting it (which is pointless), I simply took the time to learn how to use it as it's designed.

  • How can I use Automator to open and save Word docs with links?

    Hi-
I'm having trouble building a Workflow to open and save Word docs with links.
    My Workflow so far:
    1. Get Finder items
    2. Copy Finder items (to new folder)
    3. Rename selected items
    4. Open selected items (Word docs)
    Three problems occur.
The first is a Word 2004 problem -- I can't get the warning "This document has links in it; do you want to open it with/without updating the links" to go away (Unilke the Macro warning toggle capability, there is nothing in the Preferences for Word 2004 that addresses the links warning, as far as I can tell; any insight you can shed on this would be terrific.)
The second problem happens with Automator: if I manually accept the update of the first document's links, Automator opens that document but then halts completely, even though I've instructed it to open multiple documents.
The third problem I have is that there's no Finder action in Automator that allows me to save the document that's now open (as far as I can see).
Any suggestions for how to fix? If I can get this to work, and scheduled in iCal, it will be an unbelievable time saver.
    Thanks,
    Jeremy
    PowerPC G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi there Jeremy,
to do this you are going to have to add in some Run AppleScript steps...
These will rely on GUI Scripting. So first you need to activate GUI Scripting.
Now we need to add in a Run AppleScript action to the end of your workflow...
This will replace your current number 4 in the workflow (Open Selected...)
    click here to open this script in your editor<pre style="font-family: 'Monaco', 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; overflow:auto; color: #222; background: #DDD; padding: 0.2em; font-size: 10px; width:400px">on run {input, parameters}
set allItems to every item of input
    repeat with currItem in allItems
    tell application "TextWrangler"
    open currItem
    end tell
    activate application "TextWrangler"
    tell application "System Events"
    tell process "TextWrangler"
    delay 2
--when the Word document is opened I have told it to press okay !
--I don't know what key you want it to press in the dialog box
    keystroke return
    delay 2
    --save the doc
    keystroke "s" using command down
    delay 5
    --close the doc
    keystroke "w" using command down
    end tell
    end tell
    end repeat
    return input
    end run</pre>
The above script should open each Word Document, press a button in the dialog box then do a save and then close the doc...then loop through the rest of them.
You need to replace the name Text Wrangler with Microsoft Word (or whatever it is called!), I don't have it on my Mac.
You will have to let me know what button needs pressing in the first dialog, if it isn't the 'highlighted ' one then we will have to amend the script...
    regards
    Ric

  • Action to open and save multiple files in a different format

    Photoshop CS5
    TCS 3
    I haven't used actions before.
I want and to open all files in a folder of one format and save them to a different format.
    How is this done?
    Thanks
    Rob

Assuming you have all one format and would like to just open all the files and save as a different format without changing anything...
One way, using Photoshop and actions and automation, would be to define an action that just does a File - Open then File - Save As to a different file.
To define an action, in the ACTIONS panel create a new set and a new action, then just record the steps on an existing file. Once done, hit the Stop button.
Once this very simple action has been defined, use File - Automate - Batch... to set up to run the action on a whole folder full of files.
You'll likely want to use the [ ] Override Action "Open" Commands and [ ] Override Action "Save As" Commands options.  The latter option allows you to do things like specify the JPEG save quality in the action, and not be prompted for it every time.
Your Batch dialog may look something like this:
