Incremental update or Monthly update AW

Hi,
My client is using OWB to build and deploy AW cube. This database will have 12 Scenarios and my scenario dimension have N_0 to N_11 unique values. Each scenario is representative of 36 month of history and 18 months of future time buckets to hold forecast data.
Each month we will be loading a new scenario. There is no problem loading the first scenario everything works great. This month when I tried loading the new scenario, it wipes out my previous scenario.
I read through the documentation and found reference to Incremental Update, but it documentation does not tell you how and where.
Can someone please provide some guidance on how to or best way to move forward?
Regards,
Pervaiz

Pervaiz,
I assume you are using a new version (9.2.x or 10.1.x). In this case you will have to use the OLAP filter. You should find an example on incremental loading in the chapter 22 of the user's guide (Enablink OLAP with Warehouse Builder), subchapter Cloning Behavior (Incremental Loading, Precalculated Aggregation).
Take a look at:

  • Win 8 Monthly Update - T430S WAN Miniport Problem

The May 2013 monthly update for Windows 8 leaves a Device Manager error, as well as an error message in Lenovo Solution Center.  Four T430S machines receive push updates published by Microsoft every 2nd Tuesday of the month.  After this month's push updates, all machines have the same WAN Miniport error in Device Manager.
2 machines were restored to before the May 2013 push updates, and the error went away.  Unfortunately, out of the 13 or so updates, the one that appears to be causing the problem is a major update to the OS.  However, the push updates do not cause any errors with T61Ps.
Unforutunately, the WAN Miniport cannot be uninstalled.  It is part of the network stack.  So far, the only way to avoid the problem is to disable Win 8 push updates on T430S machines.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The T430S machines have Intel Ultimate-N 6300 AGN WLAN cards with 3 antennas.
A few months back, there were intermittitent issues with WLAN connectivity.  Oddly, the signal strength was strong, but with intermittent internet access.   After r&r (removing and replacing) with a new WLAN card from Lenovo, it did not fix the intermittent WLAN connectivity issues.
The WLAN connectivity issues were isolated to weak wireless N internet access performance from the Intel wireless AGN driver.  Changing the wireless N channels at the router improved performance marginally (BTW, N channels have different power requirements that affect performance.)  However, internet access was still intermittent.
Wireless N WLAN performance dramatically improved when the router was physically 10-15 feet away at most.  Since this was not practical, the best work around was to disconnect the machine from the wireless N network and setup a wireless G network at the router.  Since then, the range has been excellent with no intermittent connectivity issues.
So far, machines with KB2836988 have not affected wireless G connectivity and performance.  Apparently, if you unhide the devices in Device Manager, KB2836988 created a second WAN Miniport for Network Monitoring #2.  The second WAN Miniport is the device with the error.  From my earlier post, the only was to get rid of the error is to do a system restore to a point before the May 2013 push updates and manually hide KB2836988.
I plan on doing a system restore on another T430S machine to get rid of the error.  This time I am going to try and hide all of the other updates except for KB2836988.  I am hoping by isolating the KB2836988 as the first push update, I can get rid of the WAN Miniport error.  If all goes well, the other updates will be installed afterwards.

    Hi ,
If you do not have a datasource...
First step : you need to create a datasource for the required fields,
go the relevent fields in r/3 , like cal week ,etc where u have made the changes ,
press F1,in the technical information, you will find the information of the relevant tables fom which u can create the    datasource.create a datasource through t-code RSO2 .
Replicate the same in BW .
For Quarter (last field in your data) , a field routine can be written where you can write a code as:
    If Calweek4(2)<=13 and Calweek4(2)>0.
    Result = 1.
    Elseif Calweek4(2)<=26 and Calweek4(2)>13.
    Result= 2 and so on till quarter 4 .
For Calyear  , u can use 0calyear field directly and map it to calweek field from source
or in the field routine of Calyear write code: result = source_field-Calweek+4.
for fiscquarter also , try using a 0calquarter field provide by SAP or
in field routine of FiscalQuarter write result= source_field-Calweek+4(2)

Yes but there's no point doing it here. As the Terms of Use make quite clear this is a User to User forum. It's Users like you talking to other Users. It's not a channel to communicate with Apple.

  • Only approving "specific" updates each month for collection

Still trying to figure out how to switch over. One thing I cant figure out as it compares to previous standalone wsus is we typically get a list of approved updates that can be installed to a particular subset of vendor machines. We are ONLY supposed to
install the updates they email us each month. Previsouly I had all these in a group in wsus. Approval was easy. Do a search on each kb in the email and apprive to said group.
So in sccm 2012 I created a collection of these same computers based on AD OU. Got that part.
The only thing I can see to do though for the specific KBs is go to All software updates, search for each KB one at a time and deploy to created vendor collection. Each month could contain numerous KBs approved by the vendor to be installed. The only
way I can see to do this all at once would be to set criteria to Title and somehow specify all the KBs on the search box but I cant seem to get that to work unless there is some special separator to use. That way it only makes one deployment package otherwise
separately I would need to do the deployment package wizard for every single KB
Does anyone do this in their env? Approve very specific updates for a collection and is there a simpler way??
    thx

Thanks Peter. That makes sense. So I spent some time on this today. Right now my old wsus server has about 200gb of updates downloaded and I would like to not download stuff that is already installed. I created a bunch of Software update groups based on
years and then for the the current year I split it out by month then created collection groups (Servers, Test, Workstations, VDI)
That all looks good. So to test I deployed the current month and for the package source I entered the location to the wsus download location
    \\servername\WsusContent\. Guessing that is correct.
So now I have all the update groups and the client installed on close to a 1000 machines. What I dont get is for any year or month I created, whether deployed or not the installed column says 0 and there are a few that show a 1 for required.
I figure the client needs to be installed but do I have to download and deploy all update groups and updates back to 2003 in order to see which clients have a particular update already installed? I was thinking I could just go through each
sug and find the updates that show Required and deploy only those to whatever collections.
Also it looks like I would need to create multiple deployment packages for each sug, one for the above collections I craeted?
    thanks

  • Deploy SCCM 2012 Monthly updates (not with ADR), updates get expired

    Hi,
I’m looking howto use monthly updates in SCCM 2012 R2. This post is showing howto with automatic deployment rules (ADR), but I’d need to do this without ADR.
    http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/6799-using-system-center-2012-configuration-manager-part-9-deploying-monthly-updates/
    What I do:
    1.filter on updates I need
2.add them to an update group
3.distribute these updates as mandatory to our default windows 7 collection
Now everything works fine until some updates in the update group get expired. Then no updates are distributed anymore. Please advise.
    J.
    Jan Hoedt

Leave the expired updates and group the remaining updates (create software group fo these) and deploy to your clients.
Search the updates in sccm console: Add criteria: Expired NO
Have a look in this post (Software updates deployment without ADR)

  • What criteria should I use for the monthly updates

I am just starting to setup Software Update for SCCM 2012 R2. The configuration is done with the Classifications and Products selected and working.  I selected the Classifications:
    Critical Updates
    Definition Updates
    Security Updates
    Service Packs
    Update Rollups
    Updates
Now I am just looking for the criteria to use for my Software Update Groups.
I watched this GREAT VIDEO "SCCM 2012 SP1 and the new way handling Software Updates explained", URL:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/video/sccm-2012-sp1-and-the-new-way-handling-software-updates-explained.aspx regarding the "new way" we are to be doing the groups and updates.  The video is
very informative and explains a lot, but it does not say what criteria is used.
This is the breakdown from the video, but again it doesn't say what criteria may be:
     • Keep Software Update Groups (SUG) Limited to 1,000 updates
     • Don't split products into different SUG's
     • Enabled Delta replication for the Software Update Points (SUP)
     • Set High priority for the Software Distribution Group
    Software Update Groups
     • Exceptions group (not to deploy)
     • TMG Definition Updates
     • SCEP 2012 Definition Updates
     • Outlook Definition Updates
     • 2003-2010_All Updates
     • 2011_All Updates
     • 2012_All Updates
     • 2013-01_All Updates
     • 2013-02_All Updates
    Deployment Packages
     • TMG Definition Updates
     • SCEP 2012 Definition Updates
     • Outlook Definition Updates
     • 2003-2010_All Updates
     • 2011_All Updates
     • 2012_All Updates
     • 2013_All Updates
    Automatic Deployment Rules
     • Microsoft Outlook 2010/2013 Definition Updates
      ○ Run after synchronization
     • Monthly Updates
      ○ Every Month on day 16 of the month
      ○ Uncheck "Enable the deployment after this rule is run
     • SCEP 2012 Definition Updates
      ○ Run after synchronization
     • TMG Definition Updates
      ○ Run after updates
I am specifically looking mostly for the Monthly updates and to make sure they are only those needed.  Most I have seen use:
    Superseded:  No
    Expired:  No
    Bulletin starts with "MS"
I don't really know what the "MS" limits things to.  Sorry a lot of information and not very clearly laid out.

I am specifically looking mostly for the Monthly updates and to make sure they are only those needed.  Most I have seen use:
    Superseded:  No
    Expired:  No
    Bulletin starts with "MS"
I don't really know what the "MS" limits things to.
I use a similar approach, as one part of my routine.
When you filter/search on Superseded=NO, that discards the updates which are flagged as superseded, but this depends totally upon your routine and understanding of the nature of supersedence, and it's also time-sensitive, since CM12 will by default, kill off
superseded updates after a time. A Superseded update *is* deployable, but you'd likely only do that, if the superseding update is unsuitable for your environment for some reason, e.g. it introduces a bug or regression that you can't afford.
Expired=NO, well, again that's to limit your filter/search results. Since an expired update is not deployable, why bother to have it in your results list, if you are building a deployment. It's handy to know that something is, or has become, expired, if
you are troubleshooting or analysing a "why did/didn't xyz happen?", but for deploying, expired updates are just useless clutter.
Bulletin starts with "MS" can be handy to filter out the "non-security" updates, since "security" updates are always issued with an MSyy-nnn bulletin ID.
Note that the bizarre MS definition of "security update" does not mean that security bulletins cover *all* security-related updates, since there are updates that are released, which do provide security fixes, enhancement, etc, but they don't always attract
a security bulletin ID, so it really pays to look at "starts with MS" and also "does not start with MS" - I use both, when searching/filtering, as a way to slice the assessment/analysis task in "half" (not evenly sliced ;).
And also note that some updates (security advisories, hotfixes, rollups) may not fall into the classification you might expect, or, might not be published into the MU/WSUS catalog feed at all..
An example of a unexpected classification, is the recent 2917500, which is classified under "Feature Packs", even though it is an updated set of revoked root certificates (due to yet another compromised root CA cert). [I noted you didn't mention the Feature
Packs classification, you might want to revisit that choice...]
Personally, I'm not yet using ADRs, not because I don't like them, but because our security ops team are being especially painful at the moment and keep changing their mind about stuff, plus, we are undergoing a massive application change cycle and the change/release
    team are hypersensitive just now.
One method I also use, is to periodically run the "updates needed but not deployed" report, as it reveals to me where I need to sync a new product, or have overlooked an update or misunderstood/incorrectly assessed as "we don't need that, or that doesn't
apply to us". it also reveals where I have mucked up and not been diligent about taking a templated approach to deployments, e.g. if I forget to distribute to all DPs or whatever.
I find that even though I might take what I consider to be a very generic approach, others in the forums clearly have different environments/operational models to me, and different needs. For patching, I mainly focus on Windows client OS and Office,
and not really on Windows server OS, since somebody else handles server builds and patching in my org.

  • 10.7.3 update will not run. I've downloaded it's 2 Gb twice now (half my monthly internet) and the dialog box says "download could not be saved". Without this update I cannot update Java and therefore cannot use my nebank. Ideas?

Where can I report this to Apple, I've just spent 20 minutes trying to find some way to contact them.

Sorry Gimp, but in fairness you didn't solve my problem, you got the points though (accidentally).
It may well have worked, but just downloading the Combo update directly from Apple did the trick. This answer from Scott Newman put me onto it.
However, in this case, there is very clearly an issue that is correlated to two things:  1) Using the automated "Software Update" as compared to downloading and using the separate Mac OS X 10.7.3 Combo Updater; and 2) Certain Mac notebook computers.  In most cases, but not all, running the Combo Updater over a failed 10.7.3 update using Software Updater will fix the problems.  If a user can't get to the desktop or can't download the updater because of the previous failed update, there is information (albit geeky) in the previously noted thread to deal with this.
Most older, experienced Mac users never trust the automated Software Update process for system updates and always download and use the related "Combo" updater.  Unfortunately, many newer Mac users know nothing about this.  Apple's revenues and profit growth have come at the expense of having an exponentiall increase in the number of non-Geek users who just want their Mac to work like their toaster.
Thanks very much for your replies though

  • CS5 Bridge will not open, Air will not install, and AAM Updater will not update.  Please help!

I am having several problems with CS5, and as best I can tell they all seem to be related.  I purchased CS5 about a month ago.  Photoshop has opened and ran fine.  However, recently AAM notified me some several updates available.  When I tried to update them they all failed.  This lead to the discovery that Bridge will not open at all, Air installs but with an error and cannot update itself or applications like Adobe Help, and since the AAM updater ran it now thinks everything is up to date.
I have search endlessly for every piece of information I could find on this issue.  As well as, sat on the phone with tech support for hours.  As best I can tell, (and really I have no evidence to support me), it seems to all be related to a permissions issues.  However, I have tried everything the forums suggested with no luck, and Tech Support ended with me doing an Uninstall and reinstall (twice), while repairing permissions in-between.  I am about at the end of the road with this issue and would greatly appreciate any additional suggests you could offer.
    Some additional details.
Running a MBP i7, 8GB RAM, and MAC OSX 10.6.4
    Bridge Issue,
When attempting to launch Bridge it simply returns an error "This operation could not be completed..."  I tried the option click and reset method, no luck.
    Air Issue,
Kind of works, but at the same time doesn't.  In that in one of the previous installations programs like Adobe Help would not run.  Now Help does run, however, when I go to update Air it says it completed successfully but then immediately gives me an error saying "~this may not be allowed by the administrator..."  I also cannot update Adobe Help, it just sits and says preparing to update.
    AAM Updater Issue,
This appeared to work fine until I attempted to install an update.  It downloaded everything and then failed on the install.  However, now it thinks everything is up to date, but nothing is.

Well despite not getting much love on this forum.  I was able to correct the problem.  I tried every solution that google would produce on these issues.  Ultimately it came done to permission issue.  I was lead to this fix by a person on flickr that suggested permissions as the cause.  However, his solution was to modify the permissions in the home directory root and apply them to every subsequent folder in the home directory.  Although quick and easy, I felt this would lead to more trouble then it was worth.
I did some more digging and what I discovered is that all the permission of the Adobe folders in the home directory library (not the HD library) and the application folder did not match all the other folders in those areas.  Some of the files in some of the folders did not match either.  So I made them match (the ones that matched I left alone), and everything seemingly went back to working normally.  It was a bit of a pain going folder by folder.  Fortunately there where not many of them.  About 8 in total, plus the internal folders.

  • Hosts/Library systems don't show as requiring any updates/no new updates in compliance properties despite being assigned

We have VMM 2012 R2.  In Sept/Oct of 2014 we were able to update all resources in VMM (Library Servers and Hyper-V hosts) by creating an update baseline and then adding updates to it.  However, since then, when i create a new Update Baseline, add
updates to it and assign it to servers, when i scan against it, they don't show as requiring any new updates and are compliant with all existing updates.
I've verified the updates are in my new update baseline.  When i click on a library server (the update server for example), and right click and select Compliance Properties, i can see all the baselines assigned to that system.  It shows all the
updates in each baseline, and in the existing baselines from Sept/Oct, there are updates in that baseline.  It also shows my baselines from November and December, but it doesn't show any updates in those.
Whether I create a new baseline or add updates to an existing baseline (whether that's an Nov/Dec or Sept/Oct baseline), no updates show up under Compliance Properties of an assigned server.  They do show up in the actual Update Baseline under Library
    | Update Catalog and Baselines | Update Baselines.
    Any thoughts?  I'm stumped

Thanks for the suggestion.  I did just check one client and it did have an older version of the VMM Client.  I went ahead and updated it and then scanned it again and it is still showing as compliant, but there are no new updates showing in the
'Compliance Properties'.  I then rebooted that client, thinking maybe a reboot was necessary after upgrading the VMM client, but no change.  Here's a screenshot of the compliance properties for that client post-upgrade:
Notice how in the '2014 Monthly Updates -012 December' update baseline there are no updates listed, but there are in other Update Baselines?  When I add updates to any baseline, new or existing, they don't show up in this Compliance Properties view.
