InDesign 2.0.2 print problem

I use a Mac G4 and am attempting to print on a Konica Minolta Magicolor laserjet 5450. I'm using Liddie Blacka nd Gil sans in a text only document. The same error of skipping spaces between letters when printing occurs no matter what I do. Though I have recreated the document from scratch, reinstalled InDesign, thrown away print prefs, called Konica numerous times; I am unable to determine what the problem is.The same issue does not happen on my HP inkjet but I need to print on a laser.
Would very much appreciate help!
thanks! joan

Bob,
Thank you so very, very much! That was all I had to do and to think how much time I've spent trying to fix this problem. You have "saved" me!
muchos gracias!

  • Printing problems with InDesign CS3 running on OS 10.6

I recently upgrade my old G4 Mac (OS 10.4) to a new Mac Mini running OS 10.6.6. I am still running CS3 and have encountered only one problem. When I print multiple copies documents from InDesign that contain several layers, each copy is processed separately, so that it can take several minutes just to send the print job to the printer if I'm printing over 20 copies. Then once the print job is processed the printer pauses between every copy, which is tripling the printing time. If I print a simpler document with only one or two layers it processes all the copies at once, as it should. I am printing on an Okidata 6150 color laser printer.
I never had this problem on my old computer. I'm wondering if this is one of the "unsupported" bugs of running CS3 on Snow Leopard. I want to make sure that this is a problem unique to running CS3 with Snow Leopard before I go ahead and upgrade to CS4 or CS5.

    Hi again Peter
It is version 5.0.4.  I updated it when I newly installed it a week ago in my new computer, and then again updated it just yesterday.
I might mention that before I got my new computer, I was running Mac OS 4.11, and was using InDesign 3.0.  I had bought InDesign CS3 about a year ago, but hadn't gotten around to using it since version 3.0 had been working fine, and I was used to it.  Then, when I got my new computer, I decided it was time to use the newer version.  However, while using InDesign 3.0 with the old Mac OS 4.11, a printing problem popped up there, too, a few months ago... and it also involved printing problems with Adobe Reader.  I contacted Adobe, and they sent me a patch which fixed it.  I will contact Adobe again if need be, although I thought I'd start here first to see if it was a common enough problem that someone might be able to provide a free and routine answer.

I neglected to ask what version of indesign CS3 you are using. I also
notice that Mac OSX 10.6.4 has just been released. It actually
addresses some CS3-specific issues, though they seem to be related to
launching the apps, not printing. It may be worth trying to update,
    nonetheless.

  • Indesign cs6 printing problem: OSX 10.9. Mavericks: Message: waste toner box full, not printing.

This problem was fixed in 10.6.8 with help of Apple and CNET:
    LPD Printer backend file bug.

Now it occurs again in Mavericks. Indesign CS6 does not print. The same document in PDF prints without problems with Acrobat.

    Hi,
The HP Deskjet 845c is actually no longer supported on Mac OS X since version 10.6:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01856359&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en...
You may try installing the 3rd party HPIJS drivers which seems to support the 845c.
Be sure to install any of the 3 required download prior adding the printer:

  • InDesign CS2 Printing Problems

I teach in a Mac computer Lab (mac OS X) and InDesign CS2 is a huge headache for me; my students can't print their work half the time. I read online a lot of member posts about InDesign CS2 printing problems. Would a CS3 upgrade help?

CS3 upgrades are no longer available now that CS4 is out!
Perhaps if you described your particular problems, members of this forum could assist you. Note however, that CS2 was not supported on MacOS X 10.5 (Leopard).

  • Printing problems with InDesign CS3 with Mac OS 10.6.3

I am not new to InDesign... I have CS3... but I am brand new to Mac Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.3).  Although I can open CS3 and use the application, I cannot print with it.  None of my other applications has printing issues... just CS3.  Any suggestions?

  • Printing problem with new Intel iMac and Indesign CS3

    Hi there,
this might not be the right place to ask for, but has anybody here experienced printing problems in Indesign CS3 with Tiger?
I just installed the software and tried to print out of Indesign, but nothing. I can see on the panel that data is beeing received but no printing action. And this is just out of the new Indesing CS3.
    Any suggestions?
    Best
    Rolf

Our office is printing fine from ID & PS CS3. This is from Intel & PPC Mac's running 10.4.9.
What is your printer and how is it configured for printing, ie USB or IP.
Also, have a look at the cups error log. You can find this via System Profiler > Software > Logs. This will show which process is failing for the spooled job. You can post it back here for more help.

  • Printing problems (Autocad PDF Indesign)

    Hello everybody!
I have encountered a problem that I can't resolve. When I print to PDF from Autocad and than print this PDF, everything looks fine. But when I import it in Indesign (or Illustrator) and print it from there or to PDF, some thiner or dotted lines disappear - are not printed correctly. I don't manipulate PDF once it's imported so ... what's going on?

There appears to be often problems from AutoCAD pdf's for this sort of work. I would try this, as a work-around. Export as an EPS from AutoCAD and place that in InDesign. Does it work any better?
As a side option, we make (I represent Markzware, the software developer) a PDF to InDeisgn conversion filter called PDF2DTP. That however, will likely cause more work then you need, for you are not manipulating the PDFs once imported.
I think the export as EPS and place that will solve your issues - hopefully anyway!
    Cheers, David

  • Printing Problem with layered photos

I have sent my InDesign document to the printer for reproduction.  There seems to be a problem with the output.  A couple of the photos (layered) did not print.  On my personal printer they print fine both directly from InDesign and the PDF I created.   Any suggestions?

You probably need a global CSS file for your GoLive site.

  • Printing problems with Adobe SC3 on iMac 27"

I have a printing problem: When I want to print something from any of Adobe CS3 applications they suddenly crushes. I work on new iMac 27” (Intel Core i5, 3,2 GHz, OS X 10.9.2). Adobe CS3 worked correctly on my previous Mac G5.

    Mylenium, thanks for replying!
All Adobe Standard products I have: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop make problem with printing.
When I get an order to print a page either on my Epson Stylus printer or PS printer application crushes.

  • Borderless Printing Problem

Windows XP Pro, Indesign CS3, HP K8600 Deskjet Pro Printer. I am trying to print a borderless document. Printer does have borderless feature. I cannot get the document centered. A quarter inch white border appears on the right side of the document and a half inch border appears on the bottom. . Settings I am using in the print setup are as follows: Paper size "Borderless 8.5X11"; Page position "Centered"; also tried Page position "Upper Left"; Printing Shortcuts "Borderless Printing"; Under Features tab "Borderless 8.5X1", "Print Actual Size" and check "Bordrless". Document will print borderless and centered in HP Photosmart application but not in Indesign so I don't think it's a printer problem.

It's the top item on the Paper Size menu-drop...
I think that's your only way out because "borderless" printing is essentially unsupported by InDesign and sort of defies its logic.

  • Update to 10.6.7 causes printing problems

Did Apple change the printing framework somehow in this recent update? All the computers in our office now cannot print properly to our Riso HC5500 printer. The same problem also with our Ricoh printer, which would suggest that something in the system changed. I've been able to identify one of the fonts as perhaps problematic with 10.6.7 whereas with prior versions, this font was fine. Thoughts? Anyone else experiencing printing issues?

After updating my iMac Late 2010 i7 to 10.6.7 I had the font problem (fonts are strechted vertically, looks like arabic...) with MyriadPro when printing from Filemaker 9 to my GCC postscript printer. First printout only some letters are corrupted, the second printout is even worse. PDF creation crashes AcrobatPro 9.4.3
This font problem had occured once in 10.6.6 but after running the disk utilty fixing the permissions everythin was ok.
Now, in addition, Indesign CS3 is not printing at all to the Konica-Minolta magicolor 7450 color postscript printer. Result is an error reply from the printer. The same file prints perfectly when printed from my Macbook Air with Leopard on it.
Trying to go back to 10.6.6 with time machine resulted in a grey startup screen with endless circles of the startup carousel bars ( or what that thing is called). Now I am back to 10.6.7 printing all my stuff from the Macbook Air.

  • CS 3 Epson R2400 printing problem

After recently migrating from Tiger to Leopard I reinstalled the driver software for my Epson R2400, and have been having CS3 printing problems ever since.
The project I'm doing print work from involves CMYK versions of greyscale photos and a spot color (Pantone 200PC, also tried Trumatch 5-a2).
If I try to print from InDesign, or from Acrobat using an InDesign "press quality" pdf, everything's 'thin'. The greyscale photos are a bit washed out, and the spot color is pink rather than rich red.
If I export a jpg from InDesign and print from Photoshop the quality is acceptable
If I export a jpg from InDesign and print from Lightroom the quality is acceptable
    InDesign's color settings are-
    RGB: sRGB
    CMYK: Sheetfed Coated V2
    Can anyone help? Many thanks.

If you have a computer that runs Tiger you should stick with Tiger. CS3 was written under Tiger and seems to work best in Tiger. Use the backup of your system drive you made before upgraded to leopard as you can't go back with an Archive and install. The bells and whistles in Leopard are not worth the stability Tiger offers.

  • InDesign quits communicating with Printer

I am using a Brother Laser Printer (non-PostScript). It has worked well with InDesign in the past.
Other applications still access printer successfully.
Indesign activates MacOS printer driver, Printer Driver dialog box shows that it has received the data and is sending to printer but nothing happens.
Using InDesign CS3 with MacOS 10.5.8 using multiple accounts.
Tried trashing Cache in username/Library/Caches/Adobe Indesign/Version 5.0 but that did not seem to resolve the problem.

Try on the ID3 print set up page paper size:  'Define by driver/printer'  (Mine is a Mac page)
It may be that ID is trying to sort the printer out rather than letting the printer take control.
    Just an idea
I had printing problems with CS4 and this sorted it out.

  • Postscript printer problems

I can't print from InDesign CS5 to my postscript printer, Xerox workcenter 7345.  The printer shows the error 116-703, which is a postscript error.  I have the correct print driver installed and can see all the functions of my printer and I use a Mac.  Is this a problem with the printer software or with InDesign?  I can print to the printer from acrobat or preview with PDF but not directly from InDesign.  Any help?

I am having the same problem. The only way I could get things to print correctly from FreeHand MX was to add the printer again and this time select the driver called: "HP LaserJet 2100 - Gutenprint v5.1.3".
Once I did this the correct fonts started printing. Bad thing is all the ADVANCED printing items from FreeHand's print dialog were no longer available.
Not sure where this print driver came from. I assume it was installed with Leopard. For the most part I am not finding Leopard ready for prime time. If anyone reading this hasn't upgraded yet, don't. Wait for 10.5.2 to come out first. Hopefully some things will get fixed then.

  • Brochure / booklet printing problem

    Hi,
I  have a problem with the booklet printing. I am german, so I hope you know what I mean
When I try to print a booklet I sometimes get the error message (translatet from german so maybe it's not the exact wording): "The active document uses multiple page sizes. "Print Booklet" can be used only for documents with common page size."
How can I solve this? All the pages are the same size (A5) but InDesign wont let me print it. The only way that worked for me is to make a new document and copy all the page content but that not a solution. This happens a lot so I'm tired of making new documents...
I hope you can help me.
    thank you
    Hans

    Mr. Krone,
I am the “this DOV” that you refer to.
I never said “that its a non-issue for Adobe.” What I did give you was our position as to the best and most professional method of doing imposition because there are so many issues associated with both “booklet making” and imposition in general that this built-in, fairly hobbled feature simply can't handle correctly. Since the print booklet feature doesn't provide a PDF export feature, if you create PDF via it, it is by distillation of PostScript, a real crap shoot if your document has any transparency effects and/or color management.
If there is a bug (and I am not doubting for a minute that this thread notes some real bug or bugs), it should be reported to Adobe Tech Support for resolution. Neither I nor anyone else in this thread indicated that such a reported bug would be dismissed and not fixed by Adobe.
In terms of the parts of this thread associated with DTP and teaching, etc., I know of absolutely no word processor, layout program, or desktop publishing program (whatever that means) that offers any real support for imposition because, as previously stated, imposition is exceptionally device dependent. If you don't understand that, you are personally not in a position to diss our recommendations.
I will not stoop to the point of posting my résumé into this thread, but let's just say that (1) I've been in senior positions at Adobe for nearly 23 years, (2) have been in the computer and graphic arts industry for over 40 years, (3) currently am also serving as an industry research professor at the California Polytechnic University at San Luis Obispo in the Graphic Communications Department teaching publishing workflow as well as having taught classes at RIT and given many classes and presentations throughout the world, (4) am current chair of the ISO PDF/X standards committee, and finally (5) have the full support of Adobe executive management in posting here. Sorry you don't like my advice, but we stand behind it!
