InDesign asking me to save but no changes made

My workgroup of graphic artists is currently using InDesign CS5 (7.0.3) on Windows XP. Just recently I've noticed that when I open another designer's InDesign file, before I even make any changes, I get the asterisk next to the file name. I go to close the file and it asks if I want to save my changes. I haven't modified the file in any way, I don't even click anywhere with my mouse. I just open, then close, and I get the message asking me to save. Any ideas?
Is this somehow tied to the update from 7.0 to 7.0.3? Becuase this never seemed to happen before, unless I didn't notice it.

Also as you say your workgroup artists created the file so the links in the file could be updating when you open it.
Every time I open a file created on the other mac here it asks if I would like to update the links, the links are located in the same place but because the file is opened on another machine the links are in another location for the second machine. This alone would cause Indesign to want to save changes.

Fonts in Indesign CS3 View and Save But Will Not Print

Hi - this thread has been going a bit elsewhere but I have a bit different symptoms. Just updated from 6.5 Pagemaker to CS3 on a new Vista system. Indesign shows my collection of over 300 fonts, which are installed in the Windows Font folder (and available to and working in all my other programs)and it previews and saves documents with them correctly. But when I go to print I get the famous "font not installed" message. I check the pull down - and they are all there on the command bar. But when I go direct to the folder - only one arial font is there. OK, so I try copying, or moving the font files from the windows folder to the Adobe Fonts folder, and Vista won't let me. It grays out all option paths. HELP! And please, after reading the other threads - don't tell me I have to go in and rename each of these 300 fonts. Actually, I am not a programmer and have not the least idea why this is but for the cost of this software - there must be a patch? Or, I hope - it is simply that I am doing something myself very dumb? PS - I have Microsoft Word and Office 1997 on the system so its not the "2003 or newer" answer - as well as fonts I have purchased both before and after 2003 or 2006! Help! Hi Guys - here are the answers to your questions...
1- I have no font manager installed that I am aware of - I have all the Adobe CS3 Indesign, Photoshop and Utlitites - but unless it came packed in there, I just loaded straight over a new computer with a new Vista.
2- I tried to export to eps or PDF and print - same thing - it showed the font correctly, named it corectly, but then when I hit the button it came up "font missing" and refused to save or print.
3- I did not delete any files, but Dominic - I did a search and could not find adobefnt.db or fntnames.db on the computer? Is it possible I need to find these on the CS3 disc and copy them in? Under what folder?
4- when I click on the fonts under font find - again, they are correctly viewed and named, but the path comes up empty. No clue as to where they are housed. And they are not in the empty Adobe fonts folder.

Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID

Assembled and Imported to Test System but no changes made!!

Hi,
I am unable to find why the changes are not reflected in Test System. From last 2 days i am working on this still no clue...
Process I followed:
imported from Consolidation tab, next assembled all the SCA files which includes dependencies and its successfully assembled, next in Test tab imported all the SCA files, but i am not able to see the changes.
Any help highly appreciated

Yes Ayesha bcozz i faced the same problem in my previous assignment.
Do this:
First assemble the components which are showing the status "waiting for assembly" , next assemble the main SCA file which consists of all the changed source even the status of the SCA is "Assemble".
After assembling the SCA files in Assemble tab go to test tab, here try to import the files which you have assembled in previous step.
This will solve your issue. try and let me know the result.

InDesign CC refuses to Save

Adobe CC is a bit BUGGY
I am having CC for some weeks now ... on a 10.8.4 iMac 16GB
- one Problem I dealing with is that InDesign suddenly refuses me to save my Dokument after working for hours with it. I cannot save under. At least i could save my work as export IDML file.
Then I close the File an InDesign asks me to Save it for me but not possible. InDesign says not Possible.
Does anyone has this Problem? or has a Solution for it?

Please try to reset the preferences of InDesign.

InDesign CS2 doens't save files

Hi,
I a strange problem with InDesign CS2.
On a regular basis, files don't appear to be saved properly and next time I restart InDesign I have an error message saying can or cannot recover such and such.
There is no power cut or no computer crash.
I do however switch from 1 session to another. Have tried to stop this but hasn't seen a result yet.
Any idea someone??

It would help to have some more information.
First, are you patched to the last build of CS2, 4.0.5, build 688? IF not, that's the first step.
How are you saving these files? Save or Save As? Menu or Keyboard shortcut?
Does InDesign ask you to save again when you exit? How do you respond?
Is the file that can't be recovered one you were just working on, or an older file which might still have recovery data cached?
Have you tried replacing your preferences?
Have you tried copying the recovery data to a safe location as a backup, then deleting it?

CHANGES MADE IN ECC NOT GETTING REPLICATED TO CRM - CUSTOMER

We are currently working on CRM 4.0 connected to ECC 4.6C.
All the middleware connectivity have been configured and we have a process of creating customers (BP) in CRM which inturn flows to R/3. We dont create customers in R/3 system. Now when i make any changes to the customer in R/3 system i dont find a queue getting generated in SMQ1 in R/3 system and also the changes not getting reflected in CRM system. But any changes made to CRM is flowing to backend R/3 system.
Settings like groupings, number ranges, PIDE etc are configured.
Please let me know how to sove this issue.

The issue lies in the following customizing in your R/3 system:
1) Go to tx SM30 in the R/3 system.
2) Open the view CRMRFCPAR.
3) For CUSTOMER_MAIN and CUSTOMER_REL objects you need to uncheck the 'Discard' checkbox Save.
This will make sure that the delta changes for your Customer Master flow
to the CRM system.

Us too! We've answered the questions and then get "An error occurred. We couldn't save your changes". Now what? We have a balance in the itunes account that it seems cannot be transferred. What next?

Why do some assets ask me to 'Save Changes' even though nothing has changed

Problem: Assets that have been uploaded recently ask me to save changes, every-time I close 'get info' window, but nothing has been changed.
This problem didn't always happen with assets early on. But it's seem to happen now after I've added new groups and fields to the metadata set. Not sure if that's related.

After reading the 'Administration Guide', I quickly discovered that I had been improperly setting the CATEGORY for each new FIELD I created. I assumed that when I created a 'Shoot Date' field, I chose 'Date' as the category. Apparently, this is incorrect. All custom field metadata that you create must have a category set to 'None'. Every other category is for FCSr's internal purposes. Surprising, but it was in the documentation. Changing the category on this new field back to 'none' solved my issue.

I need to reset my Apple ID on my ipad. My internet provider was bought by another company, so my user name changed. So now, when I go into itunes or the app store, I cannot update anything because it asks for my password, but not my apple id.

I went to the manage your id section, but it won't let me in because it wants the password to the old name. So I think I need to reregister the ipad with my new userid. Icloud, Itunes, app store, everything like that won't let me in because they still show the user id as the old name.

On the iPad - go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores>Apple ID. Tap on your old ID and sign out. Then sign in with your changed/new ID.

If you want to change your iCloud ID or password on your phone go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, then sign back in with your updated information. Note: this only deletes the account and any synced data from your phone, not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account and not changing accounts it will be synced back to your device when you sign back in.

You may want to wait for others to see this thread who might offer some other suggestions, but you could consider resetting the password. These instructions work for Lion (10.7.x) and Mountain Lion (10.8.x).

I am having trouble with an excel file wanting to save when no changes were made & opening as read only for the 2nd person - but allowing them to save the file.

1) I am having trouble with an excel file wanting to save when no changes were made. As soon as you open the file and exit. It prompts for a save.
All excel versions are 15.0.4701.1002.
Using a table.
the functions CELL, OFFSET, TODAY, INDIRECT, NOW, INFO and RAND are not being used.
2) Same file. 2nd person is being told they are opening the file as read only - but when they are quitting excel prompts them to save the file.
Everything was working fine. I started having problems with Excel, IT wiped my version out and re-installed office.
File is on networked server HP - Windows Server 2012 Essentials.
We are all on Windows 8.1 Pro.
I really hope someone can help - the excel expert had no answer - and passed me along to here.

I copied the whole file and started deleting worksheets one at a time and testing it by closing it and re-opening it then closing it again – to see if it wanted to save.
Once all the pivot tables were deleted – the problem went away.
I found that some of the pivot tables had automatic refresh upon open, so this caused the excel to think data had changed.
It is fixed now. By clicking on one cell of the pivot table, analyze, options, data and uncheck the 3<sup>rd</sup> square down to not automatically refresh. NOT A NETWORK ISSUE.
