InDesign Bleed Problems???

Hi, I am a little new to Adobe InDesign.  I am creating a brochure, and am dealing with bleeds/margins/layout issues in InDesign.  The bleed I need is an 1/8 of an inch all around...
I have 4 photoshop documents that I am importing in to 2 InDesign documents.
*The 2 InDesign documents are the front & back cover(one), and the 2nd & 3rd page(two) for the inside of the brochure.*
*The 4 photoshop documents are the front cover(1), 2nd page(2), 3rd page(3), & back cover(4).
Here is my dilemma, which I am sure has a couple different answers:  The document(s) I made in Photoshop is the protocol 8.5" x 11"  -  Should I have made that document in Photoshop to incorporate the bleed or can all this be done in InDesign after I import all 4 photoshop documents?
Any help is appreciated...

Thanks Eugene, that was my first guess...  Is there a way to do a workaround if my files in Photoshop have already been made with No Bleeds incorporated?

  • My iPad 2 has light bleeding problem, service center guy told me it's a known cosmetic problem, can't do exchange...

My iPad 2 has light bleeding problem, I called Technical Support Number (Singapore), they told me to go to an Apple authorized service centre in Singapore. So I travel an hour to there, then they told me to contact Apple online since it's a cosmetic problem, they can't send it for repair or exchange...

    Hi Peter,
There are always issues with the screen on devices. In the case of slight bleeding, one QC engineer might pass the product while another might not, due to color and lighting perception differences between engineers.
Different service centre will have different service levels due to the fact that this IS Singapore...
I suggest going down to QCD.

If it's a Starhub or Singtel set, it's more effective to be exchanging with them since it's not been a week since purchase (I assume).
    Cheers!

  • Do white new iPad's have more light bleed problems?

I have exchanged 3 white 64GB wifi only new iPad's and will be exchanging for my 4th one today. are there more light bleed problems with white iPad's? I don't know how many times i will have to exchange until I get a good one. can someone show me of a white ipad that has no defects what so ever.

I just want to mention that if the DSL light isn't on, it is definitely the phone line, however it is not always the provider's fault. Remember they are responsible for the line from the pole to the house, but not the inside wiring. If your phone line is unplugged from the jack, the DSL light will not be on. To be sure that it is SBC's fault, go and test the connection at the d-marc box outside the house.
Take your laptop, your modem and a phone line and plug it in out there. If you don't get the DSL light, it is definitely their problem. If you do outside, but not in the house, and you call them out, you will get charged for the service call.
Also the built in ethernet cards, more commonly referred to as airport cards, are not really delicate per se, but the wire for the antennae connection is most definitely. Only if you removed yours which you would have to if you wanted to add RAM, would you have any reason to be concerned about possibly damaging it. SBC telephone tech support is always showing off their lack of knowledge.

  • Indesign CC problem with rules

I am used to work with paragraph rules when I have to to highlight text in documents.
Now, in InDesign CC, I have to deal with a strange problem – trying to select the characters in text, the selection is visible in another place. The characters, however, are indeed selected, but it can not be seen correctly.
Here is what I do step by step:
    1. write a line of text
    2. apply paragraph rule so that it covers the text entirely (for example, for 10pt text I would make rule about 20pt thick)
    3. change the left indent to any value but zero and/or change the paragraph alignment to centred or flush right.
Now, if I try to select the text characters the text is selected as if it would still be left aligned with no indent. It means, I can not know if I have selected the text correctly. (I even tested this by selecting the text and then setting the indent to zero and alignment to left, and then the selection is in the correct place.)
I have tried to "cure" this via idml file, but it gives no result. Even when trying this in new document it makes the same problem.
My guess is that this is in some way concerned with fact that InDesign in Mac now uses system-wide text selection.
I have InDesign CC 9.1 on Mac OS X 10.8.5

This sounds like a bug, and you should report it: Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form

  • Importing Word Docs(2007) into InDesign CS4 problem

Well, I am creating a users guide in CS4 InDesgin, and I have a Word 2007 doc with tables in it, about 6 pages total, when I try to import that file, the whole InDesign freezes up and does not respond. When I have imported docs before, I had no issue? Is there something I am not doing? or is there a bug that I don't know about?
    Thanks
    Brian Watson

Well, I just accidently figured it out.. in Word 2007, if you save it as .docx is when I have the issue of InDesign freezing up and having to shut it down and restart InDesign. However, if I saved Word file as 97-2003 file .doc then no problem importing.. Thanks anyhow.. I hope this helps other folks..

  • Indesign install problem through CC

I have a desktop mac and installed all my apps with no problems. Desktop is running snow leopard.
I then wanted to install a few of them on my laptop (laptop running lion). I magaged muse and acrobat XI with no problem.
When I come to installing Indesign I get all sorts of problems.
It downloads OK but when it is going through the install process it completely hangs my laptop. Only fix is to switch off. I have tried this 4 or 5 times. I noticed that it was creating the Indesign CS6 folder in the apps folder but it did not have the icon on the folder. I even tried to uninstall it before trying again but everytime it just hangs the laptop.
I even left it running overnight to see if it just needed time but still the same result.
I have dowloaded the most recent version of Application Manager (6.2) but no joy.
    Anybody got any ideas.
    Thanks in advance, Keith

  • Indesign CS5 - Problems with PDF-Export

    Hello community,
we do have a problem with Indesign CS5 and exporting data into PDF. It is about that logo on that white surface, which doesnt come along with the rest after the pdf-export. What we did was: We created that white surface in Indesign itself, put an effect on it with the Indesign effect gallery and then imported the logo in the surface ... the logo itself is .psd data. So, if we export it into pdf like that, it is just dissapeared. Does anyone have had a similar problem and what can be done about it?
By the way ... if you put, for example, a simple backgroundshadow on a picture ... done also with the Indesign effect gallery, then you get just a white surface instead of the shadow, after the export into pdf. It does maybe correlate with the other problem ... not sure. Any suggestions?
Thank you very much for your help and kind regards ...

I would create the entire logo, including the white background, in Illustrator, save as PDF and place that in ID.

  • InDesign command problems

I work with Adobe CS 5. Using Configurator 3, I have created a panel in InDesign for the commands I use most often. However, I have run into the following problems:
Some commands (e.g., Margins and Columns or Span Columns and some others) give me only a split-second flash of (presumably) a dialogue box but then nothing more.
    Some commands don't ever respond.
Some commands work at first, but then, if I edit or recreate the panel, some of the previously working commands (e.g., Insert Hair Space, Clear Overrides, and some others) simply
    stop working.
Also, I have tried to use some Widgets, but they never show up (e.g., the horizontal rule or the rectangular container). No color adjustments seem to be available for the panel, and nothing adjusts automatically.
Some commands that I find inside InDesign -- such as the Balance Columns or Unbalance Columns commands that should be available on the control panel -- don't show up in searches on either word.
I can edit a panel and sometimes get some of the previously working functions back, by removing them and placing them again. But that doesn't work every time (and is annoying to have to do), and even this does not help the commands that have never responded or which only flash me and then are gone. Nor does completely trashing the original panel and recreating from scratch fix the latter condition, though sometimes when I do this, some of the commands that have occasionally worked will again work in the new panel. But usually, some others that worked previously, now won't.
SUMMARY: It seems the commands that WILL work, won't work consistently. And the ones that never worked yet, never will.
Configurator 3 seems to be a great idea -- I was very happy to find it the other day, and the presentation video I watched about its upgrades for CS6 seemed encouraging. But so far, it does not seem like an idea whose time has come ... unless there is something I'm doing wrong or some reason why some commands don't work in CS5. If this is the case, please let me know. I also use Photoshop extensively and wanted to create a panel for it, but I'm not going to bother if Configurator 3 is truly so inconsistent as it seems.
Does anyone have any thoughts, advice or experience with the program along the above lines?

I'm sorry to hear that. If possible, could you send you panel to [email protected]? I will have a look.
Do you make sure that you selected InDesign CS5/CS5.5 when creating panel for InDesign CS5?

  • Urgent Indesign exporting problem coming up with warning

    Hello,
I have been trying to export my indesign document to a PDF but it comes up with a warning saying " The preset specifies source profiles that dont match the current colour settings file. Profiles specified by the colour settings file will be used"
I have also changed to it RGB instead of CMYK could that be the problem??/

    mharraz378 wrote:

Maybe, but I often see this warning even in CMYK. It's not a fatal error and nothing to worry about. You actually want to be using the profiles you specified, so it's a good thing.

  • InDesign Fonts problem Bookmark Script

    Dear All,
We developed one script for creation of Bookmark in InDesign CS2. When we are runnign this script content formatting is getting anmoly changed, I analyzed InDesign file and came to know that due to a font called "Trade Gothic Bold No. 2" due to this font all formatting of the content is getting change.
But in script I am not doing anything with fonts, only we are untagging the content to take the reference for creation of bookmark. The script is working very fine for other files from last 6-7 months but only this file is having this kind of problem.
If any one know the reason please let me know, I know this might be not related to scripting forum but if we recieved any issue related to it. Please let me know the solutions also how to aviod these kind of problem.
    Regards,
    Rajeev

In all likelihood, you have based one or more of your paragraph styles on "[Basic Paragraph]". If the Basic Paragraph style differs from document to document, then when you paste text in it will change to match Basic Paragraph in this doc instead.
Edit the styles in both documents to be based on "No Style" instead.

  • Indesign CS4 problem

I have tried to re-install sewel times and used ccleaner and intalled again.. still same problem.

  • Excel chart into InDesign - resolution problem

Hello, I am working on a Mac OS 10.8.3 and using InDesign CS6
I have to place a chart that was created in Excel into InDesign and I realize there is a resolution problem if we start to print.
Would you suggest I create the chart using an Adobe product? I am just trying to save time, but I'm afraid that may be the only answer.
I have a screen shot below of kind of what it looks like. I have about 25 of these.
    Thank you.

I tried pasting the chart from Word into Excel and then I dragged that chart into Illustrator and then copied into InDesign. Probably used an extra step there, but..
I went to this site for help too; http://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/import-excel-data-charts-graphs.html
The text comes in a little funny, but I redid the text boxes and I was able to get in and edit some of the elements.
    Thank you!

  • Indesign Bleeds set correct but print wrong

I have a vendor supplied InDesign file built in facing pages with bleeds and marks set to bleed .125" on three sides and 0" bleed on the insides of the pages, however when I print the pages the inside edges also show .125" bleed. I have gone through the panels several times and cannot find why this is happening. We are a commercial printer and use this setup on many jobs and it always works the way we want. Don't know where the issue is and would like to resolve it for future happenings. Thanks

Okay I have attached the pdfs and screen grabs you requested

  • Smart objects from Illustrator and Indesign dimensions problem

I have been trying to find an answer to this problem for 6 months now and surprised no one else has tried to find any answers.
When we import something from illustrator or indesign as a smart object, for some reason the objects width and height will not keep their  dimensions in proportion.
When the asset is first imported as a smart object it says the width and height are exactly 100%. However after that if you try to change the dimensions they will be out of proportion, usually the width will be 100% but the height will be out by about 1% to begin with. When you scale up, the percentages fall further and further apart. See image attached.
This has become a real problem for our workflow as the creative director insists we must  correct every layer which has this issue by typing in the sizes manually, but then this doesnt always fix the problem either depending on which version of photoshop you are using.
Why does this happen, and how can we fix it for good?
    Thanks, Chris.

I do not have the answer for I don't have illustrator and indesign.  I do have Photoshop and have notice that it try to match resolutions and maintain sizes but it may also scale placed object etc. There are some some Photoshop preferences setting that can effect some operations. Photoshop also has support for non square pixels.
Make some test if illustrator and indesign have setting for pixel aspect ratio and DPI resolution. Make sure all documents have the same pixel aspect ratio and same DPI resolution and that the vector object to be imported are not larger then the Photoshop document their being imported to.
Thanks for the suggestions, but none of these would be the answer. Illustrator is Vector so it does not use DPI / Pixel aspect ratios etc.

  • InDesign CS3: Problem with Trial

    Hello,
I have no tried installing the trial on three different machines and have gotten this message each time I have tried to launch the program and begin the trial:
"A problem was encountered while trying to load the trial period for Adobe InDesign CS3.
Click quit to see if restarting your computer or reinstalling the software fixes this problem. Otherwise, click Continue to display a screen where you can enter a valid serial number to begin using the product without trial."
All of the machines I have tried to install on are running Windows XP SP2. Thanks for any help!

I have the exact same issue.
The product installed OK, but when I choose "Start 30 day trial" I am simply told "A problem was encountered..."
The download is from Adobe web page, 15 August 2008.
    File size 459.188.632 bytes, MD5 = 27d34a3d4e5c5f08992b74c9747f4280
    Payload code = 24D77A7C-E10B-4057-9974-FAB8BFDAC853
    Payloads/Setup.xml: 458H Setup version="1.0.135.0"
The software was installed on a fresh PC 2GHz, 1Gb memory, with win XP.
It is totally frustrating that not even a trial can start. At least Quark gets that one right.. I truly understand people that search for a key generate online. All I needed was a trial while I wait for my paid copy to appear.
Btw: InCopy will not even install, here I am simply told: "You can only run one installer at a time".. although InDesign was already completely installed.
Shame on you, Adobe installer team. Shame on you.
