InDesign blocking Win7 taskbar

I can't be the only person this is happening to, but I've Googled it to death, and come up blank:
I've got my Win7 taskbar at the bottom, set on AUTO-HIDE ... so it's gone, unless I move my cursor to the bottom of the monitor ... then it pops up. The problem: With InDesign CS5 open, the Windows taskbar is BLOCKED ... moving my cursor to the bottom of the screen does nothing. I want the Win7 taskbar to pop up when needed, regardless of what program(s) might be running.
This issue might also be true with other CS5 programs, but InDesign is the one I use most ... hope I haven't posted this in the wrong place.
Any solutions? Thanks...............

I know that, Peter. But as long as Windows has HAD a taskbar, I've kept it at the bottom of the screen, on auto-hide, and changing THAT isn't going to be a solution to the problem. I'm not interested in making a fundamental change in the way I use a computer; I'm just trying to resolve the bug described.
I figured you probably did know this.
You sound like the kind of person who knows how to customize Windows. Is it possible that you've resized frame borders and/or modified other features in Windows' schemes (or is it themes?) I'm not at my Windows machine at the moment. If you've customized the Windows UI, try setting it back to the standard for your Windows version, or to the Classic version if that's an option, to see how those work with InDesign. Just a guess.
If it seems a bug for sure, report it at Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form.

  • Firefox opens multiple icons in Win7 Taskbar

Here's the problem in action: http://www.screenr.com/Usps
Basically, when I put FF on my Taskbar, then open it, it opens another icon with FF in it. I'm very confused.
I've set Win7 taskbar settings to only display 1 icon, and I've made a shortcut directly from the firefox.exe

It doesn't seem to affect performance. It's just annoying to have the two icons load.
Hope it's fixed by Beta 2.

  • Win7 Taskbar tab previews way too small

Is there anyway to incease the size of the Win7 Taskbar tab previews? They're so small its nearly impossible to make out what page I'm trying to load.
    Thanks!

There are a couple of add-ons that can assist with this, [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6965/ Default FullZoom Level] or [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2592/ NoSquint].

  • How do i stop firefox from blocking my taskbar when downloading?

Every time I download anything using Firefox, the downloads dialogue box blocks use of both my popup taskbar or the side to side scroll bar making me clear the downloads list EVERY TIME I do a download. I hate that the previous version of Firefox did this, and see that no one has bothered to fix this annoying glitch in the new version. It's maddening trying to save large pics as you can't see them until you clear the downloads list.

The downloads manager is a regular dialog box, unlike the door hanger variety, so you can put it wherever you want it. You can resize it, and the resizing should stick on subsequent usage. You can toggle it on or off anytime with "Ctrl+J", and you have some control when it appears automatically or closes automatically.
Tools > Options > General > (Downloads section)...
If you are still using the "Firefox" button introduced in Firefox 4
"Firefox" button > Options (2nd column) > Options > (Downloads section)...
    Mine is set as follows
[x] Show the Downloads window when downloading a file
[_] Close it when all downloads are finished
I'm on high speed access so if I download something, I'm probably waiting for it so don't mind the window.

  • Adobe indesign cs win7 files associations

i have win7 64 bit and indesign cs ver 3.0.1 why my file icon disappeared?

    You found the file: idicon.dll
Now you need to register it with Windows. The Register64BitIcons.bat file will do that automatically, if you can find and run it, otherwise, press the Windows Start button, then the Run button and paste regsvr32 "%CommonProgramFiles(x86)%\Adobe\Shell\idicon.dll" (exactly as written here) into the command line and press OK. You should get a confirmation message for success. You may need to restart the computer for the icons to show.

  • Why are Adobe CC programs killing my Win7 Taskbar?

I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64bit, which runs just fine, until I run an Adobe CC App, specifically Premier Pro CC. Then, on the next rebot, my task bar loads incorrectly. It appears to operate, but not fully and it does not display properly at all. It is transperant, but the icons in the bar are not distinguishable, there are no window previews, and the start button in the corner is much smaller, does not display proerly, and is indistinguishable (other than it's location on the taskbar.) If you click on the blob that resides in the start button location, the start menu does appear.
The only fix I've found is to restore to a previous restore point. This fixes the problem until the Adobe application is run again. Then on the next boot, it's jacked up again. Anyone else having these problems? Is this a known issue and is there a simple fix?

here's area I meant...personalize settings.. dont use aero ...make all this stuff simple and basic...

  • PS CS6 Win7 taskbar thumbnails and peek images blank

Most the the Creative Suite misbehaves with respect to the Windows 7 taskbar. One behavior that's particularly unproductive is seeing a bunch of gray icons for open application windows, and having the associated full size peek image grayed out too. I frequently work with many open image windows that I prefer to keep undocked. If they're minimized, more often than not there's a gray taskbar preview.
    Screen capture example attached.
Once I click on the thumbnail and activate a window, the thumbnail taskbar image updates. But when I switch between applications, the updated thumbnails will usually go blank next time I peek at the PS6 taskbar.

I'm not seeing misbehavior, in that I appear to be getting all the thumbnails, but interestingly I'm not seeing the titles in the Taskbar Live Previews like you are.  Maybe it's because I have the Taskbar set to show buttons with the names in them...  I can also see the document title if I hover over the icon.
Regarding why you would be failing to see the document images...  Seems quite likely that would be a display driver issue.  What video card and driver version do you have?
Sorry if we discussed these details before; I recognize your username though I don't recall what we discussed in other threads.

  • A Win7 taskbar, Ubuntu Unity or OS X dock for gnome-panel?

Is there a widget for gnome-panel that I can add applications to and at the same time show open applications, with only one icon per application?
As the title suggest, I want something similar to the Windows 7 taskbar, or the Ubuntu Unity sidebar, or the OS X dock.
I'm aware of Gnome Do. But it has a separate dock. I want these application icons to appear in a normal gnome panel.

  • Firefox 5 shows on Win7 Taskbar but I can't get the window to come up.

Hi! I've tried rebooting, checking in my Task Manager to close and/or open FF, but I can't get FF to open any further than simply showing up on my taskbar.

  • Corrupt crosslinks when exported from InDesign to PDF

Two of my colleagues are using Indesign on win7 64 bit computers.
CS 4, one computer has indesign version 6.0.4, the other computer has version 6.0.5 - and that is the computer where our problem is.
When we open a file in indesign and chose the alternative Export to PDF, export with hyperlinks and bookmarks, a pdf-file is created. Some of the links are ok, but most of them doesn´t work. The properties for the link seems to be ok with the correct destination name. (and if we try to export the same indesign file from the other computer all links are ok, so the orignal file must be ok?)
We have tried to create a new user account on the computer, with full admin-permissions.
    Any other ideas, anyone?

I´m not a user of the program myself, so i´m not definetely sure... What we have done on the problematic computer is to reset the settings. We got help to remove some setting-files.
Are there any specific settings that you might know about, that could cause this kind of trouble? We have checked in acrobat that "use hyperlinks" (?) is marked under Edit, Preferences,

  • Firefox 7 not working in Win7 Pro, also duplicating itself on task bar

Firefox 7 automatically installed itself on my Win7 Pro system on Sunday, 9/25. Since then it is taking a minute or more to access any website, or other pages within the same website. Frequently, it just hangs and I have to exit out and restart. Never had this problem with any previous version. Also, it is creating a duplicate of itself on my Win7 taskbar, all the way at then end, which makes it a pain to switch between browser windows.

    Hi,
    net config server /autodisconnect:number
where number is the number of minutes that you want the server to wait before it disconnects a mapped network drive. The maximum value for this command is 65535. Please attempt to reduce the minutes the server waits.
Also, the client-side session is automatically disconnected when the idling time lasts more than the duration that is set in KeepConn. So, please try shortening time in KeepConn.
Locate and then click the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Service\lanmanworkstation\parameters
    Value: KeepConn
    Data type : REG_DWORD
    Range : 1 to 65535 (sec)

  • Windows 7 taskbar feature - tabs as individual taskbar items.

Just like for IE8, the Win7 Taskbar treats each Safari tab as it's individual item.
Is there anyway to turn this feature off?

LabVIEW has always played by its own rules when it comes to window behavior, from Alt+Tab to live clicks in windows without focus.  I have just started using Windows 7 at home with LV9.0.1 and it seems to me that LV is not playing nicely with the new Windows Taskbar.  If I have a window minimized and I hover over the LV icon I get the nice thumbnail previews, but if I try to click one of the thumbnails I get a 'dong' and no window.  I have to get the thumbnail then right-click and restore.  Or I can shift-right-click and restore all (sometimes).   A window that is not minimized is brought to the front properly from the thumbnail.
This is fresh SP1 install on a relatively fresh Windows 7 32-bit system.  I hope this is not the usual behavior, it is getting on my nerves as some of these maneuvers are spinal reflexes at this point.  Other applications behave as I would expect and so does the LV splash screen.
We have a Task timer we use internally to track our time on projects that i recently re-wrote for LV 2009. It inserts itself in the system tray fine under XP but on Windows 7, I have recieved reports of it not "coming to the front" and the user has to close all other windows to find it.
Note: this has only been seen when running as an exe.
I have not had a chance to chse that down.
Now if you are talking about the development environment... then I can't say I have seen that issue.

  • PSE9 on Win7. "Gathering User Info..."

Just installed PSE 9. Installation was successful (on Windows 7 x64). Detected that I'd had PSE 8 before, upgraded my catalog and informed me it was going to migrate all photo tag info. Got into Organizer OK.  I exited after awhile.
Now when I start PSE 9, all I get is the Welcome screen with "Gathering User Info...".   I left it in this state for 15 minutes.  It was not consuming any CPU cycles.  Rebooted my PC.  Restarted PSE 9.  Still just stays on "Gathering User Info...".
Any ideas how to fix this?  I'm thinking I may have to try re-install...
    Thanks

    Ankush,
The last thing that I did last night was
    1. uninstall PSE9
    2. uninstall Adobe Air, Adobe Flash Player IE, Adobe Flash Player
    3. install latest Adobe Air and install the lastest Flash Players
    4. installed PSE9.  I just let it run and the installation completed succesfully (when I checked this morning).
So it looks like uninstalling and reinstalling those other Adobe products allowed the install to complete (instead of failing at the "Installing required Sharing Technlogies" step).
So now I have PSE9 installed.
    1. When I clicked the desktop icon to start it, I get the Welcome Screen with the "Gathering User Info..."
    2. When I click on Organize, it immediately goes into my Win 7 Taskbar and cannot be resurrected from there.  It is still there. I'm not sure if PSE9 is doing anything.
    3. Then I run the PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe (from its directory).  Editor pops up.  It has me signed in.  I Sign Out. I sign back in successfully to my account.
I then wonder if, for some reason Organizer has decided to open up somewhere off my screens.  I find that that is the case!  I drag it back onto onto one of my three screens.
    And it's all working
So I had multiple weird things on this installation:
    a. "Gathering User Info..." which never went away
    b. Multiple PSE9 installations that failed until I reinstalled Air and Flash Players.
    c. Had to run PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe from the Adobe directory so that I could get the Adobe sign in dialog
    c. Organizer deciding to open up off the screen.
But, as I said, it's working now.   I hope that others don't have to attempt as many installs and jump through all these hoops like I did...
I do wonder why the Organizer icon is just showing as a black and white image and the Editor icon is a colored "PSE" image.  This is what the two look like in my Win7 Taskbar.  Is that the correct Organizer icon?
