InDesign booklet printing to PDF all the copy is low resolution. What am I doing wrong?
I have single sheet size files (3.75 X 8.5) that I have to booklet make into PDF's so I can then put them into another InDesign file for a specific printer that we use to print policy manuals. I go to print them using the booklet feature but they seem to come out low resolution. I have tried printing them from Acrobat 8 and 9 but they still come out low resolution. HELP!!!!
to get this straight, an indesign file with the layout from pages 1-? is made into a PDF and then placed into a new indesign file which acts as the imposition template and then pdf'd again... and that pdf is printed through acrobat using the print menu... is this correct?
there are a few questions which i have.
1) in every step, how are the pdfs being made? rather than using "press quality" pdfs from the export, try using "pdf x/3".
2) i work for a sheet-fed offset printer which also uses a perfector press. we would normally let our RIP handle the impositions... is there a specific reason that an indesign file is being used as an imposition program in this instance?
3) in my work, we would also make PDFs only and let the RIP process the file. unless i am printing to a laser printer, there is no reason for me to go file, print if i am making final art for output. with the imposed file which is being created, is the imposed file being output to plate via a RIP or is it being sent to something like a colour copier directly or to the RIP of a colour copier (like EFI Fiery)?
there could be several areas where the image quality is being lost but i need to understand more about the output of the artwork - whether it is being sent to a platesetter RIP to make plates; or to a colour copier. initally though, try changing the adobe pdf export preset which is used to pdf x/3 and let us know how things go.

or when i am saving the file to JPEG?Basically you're approaching this the wrong way around. What you need is the extreme sections to be quieter, not louder. The problem with moving the lower end of the audio is that you'll move the noise floor too, and get what's generally referred to as a 'pumping' effect. So what you do is to use a compressor to tame the peaks, and leave the lower level sound alone. When you've done that, you amplify (or normalize to a level you can determine) the whole signal. So the noise floor will be higher, but constant and not pumping. 'Match Volume' is a completely different tool for setting the overall levels of different tracks so that they sound approximately the same - it doesn't even begin to do what you want.
If it's music you are treating, then I'd almost certainly use the multiband compressor, because you get less artefacts with this. You need to experiment with the threshold levels, and almost certainly not use a massive compression ratio - 3:1 or 4:1 should be sufficient (although it's hard to tell without actually hearing the audio). You can tell what it's doing at any given point because the downward meter indicates how hard it's working. In theory you can apply make-up gain with it as well, but personally I leave that until everything's treated and use the 'Normalize' tool to set an absolute max level. -
My iCloud is set up and seems to work. However, a newly added contact does not sync from the Macbook to the iphone and iPad. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, txstan
Apparantly it is, On My Mac contacts don't appear in iCloud, anywhere.
Put all your contacts on all of your devices in iCloud (assuming that's where you want them to be)
Go to www.icloud.com, login and see what you actually have in the account. -
My email on my mac (which has iCloud) is giving me a message that the server has rejected my password. When I go onto the internet and sign into iCloud there, the password is accepted. What am I doing wrong??
Thanks...I just spent an hour on the phone with Apple Support sorting out the password issues for my various devices!!! My password was compliant with the new rules, but there were some (mysterious) setting issues that required me to delete mail from my MacBookPro and add it back, again. All in all, it was an hour of trouble-shooting which resulted in what, I hope, is a good fix.

When I download a document, I get a message saying download was successful, but a blank screen where the document should be. What am I doing wrong?

Yes, just made sure of that. I do have the latest version of Flash player. But I have just staggered upon the answer. Chalk it up to being a newbi. I was not putting my apple tv to sleep and it would not allow me to see
you tube on my computer while it was still operating on my TV. When I realized that, I put the apple tv to sleep and bingo, my computer runs you tube fine. Thanks again for your response. -
I am trying to use the liquify tool for the first time. I created a new document (RGB/8). Before I place my photo, the liquify option is available. After I place the photo, the liquify option disappears. What am I doing wrong?

Did you place the image as a Smart Object? Liquify got Smart-capabilities with Photoshop CC. -
I have set up my airport express to play music on my tv. However, I can only stream music to it via "music" app on my iphone, neither itunes on my laptop, nor the "remote" app display the alternate speaker symbol. What am I doing wrong?

I have power cycled the router several times it is a Surfboard sbg6580. still no luck with seeing the airplay symbol on itunes, but Isee it on my phone and can stream music via the airport with my phone. I just received my ipad2 today, and did all the sync routine. The wifi is working, but I can't seem to access the net. I get an error message stating "Cannot open page, Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the Internet." What am I doing wrong?
Tap Settings in the Home screen then tap General / Reset / Reset Network Settings.
Then restart the iPad. Press and hold down the Sleep / Wake button until you see the red slider then swipe to the right to power off, then hold down the Sleep / Wake button until you see the Apple logo.

Did you already try to reset the sync history?
If you find that some of your data syncs to your device but you see an unexpected number of changes or modifications, you may need to reset your sync history. This causes iTunes to prompt to Merge or Replace information on the device when you next attempt to sync your information. To reset your Sync History:
Open iTunes.
From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
Click the Devices tab.
Click the Reset Sync History button.

I purchased a HDMI cable to watch movies and slide shows from my mac book pro to my Sony Bravia TV. I get picture through the TV but no sound. What am I doing wrong?
Go to sounds in system pref and select outputs. When the hdmi cable is plug into the tv it will show as an option under output. Just select that option.

Currently using Aperture ver 3.1.1, when exporting files (5.6 MB size) to email or to thumb drive the file received by email recipent is about 560KB and worthless in size to them. What am I doing wrong? thanks

When you are exporting your images with "File > Share < Email", you should see a pop up menu in the upper right corner of the window that lets you chose the file size:
What are your settings there? You should pick "Actual size", if the Mail server will let you send 5 MB files. Quite often the limit is 2 or 3 MB.
Is "Mail.app" the Mils client you are usimng, or are using a different mailer? -
I have downloaded iCloud to my new PC and am using Windows 7 and Offie 2010. I cannot get iCloud to come up on Outlook with the choices for Calendar and Contacts, my iMail accnt is there***.me.com, but not the general Cloud choices for calendar and contacts? What am I doing wrong?

I get an eerro that my computer is not authorized, but I've already authorized it. What am I doing wrong?Try deauthorizing the computer, logging out of the iTunes store, rebooting your PC, logging back into the iTunes store, and reauthorizing your computer.

You can only ship Apple products to the same country as the credit card used is billed to. So unless you have a credit card with a billing address in the States you won't be able to ship direct.
