InDesign - Buttons and Forms in InCopy

Within the Buttons and Forms section of InDesign - do the PDF options revert to their default when sections are exported to Incopy?
I have set up a number of checkboxes and form fields (and updated the button values/ PDF Options), and want to export these to InCopy for use in other InDesign files, however, when I place the InCopy fields the PFD options appear to revert back to the default, rather than retaining the PDF Options I had put in place.
Is there a way that I can keep the PDF Options without manually updating each field again?

Never tried that, but I'd be far more inclined to do this using snippets instead.

I'm using Adobe InDesogn CC 10.1.0.70 x64 Build, the problem is with the check box option from Buttons and Forms, They are, simply, not working... I'm trying to add a check box on my pdf I'm creating in InDesign.. I'm using checkbox from "Sample Buttons and forms".. but nothing is working.. I'm just dragging the Check Box samp and drop it in my canvas, exporting it as PDF with "Hyperlinks" checked.. and Interactive Elemnts with Include Appearance chosen but the check box doesn't having any action!! I don't know what I should do to make this work please help

Hidden Buttons and Forms Printing CS6

I'm not exactly sure how to word this but I have buttons and forms that are printing when they are not supposed to.
This is my indd file:
If you can see, there are 3 sections, each identical except for the fact that they have different states. If someone wants Hat 2 section, there is a button that turns on the visibility of 2 combo boxes, a text box, 6 check boxes, some normal buttons (just text and art, but they need to be buttons in order to activated with an action), and toggles the view of another button that can add another hat... kinda hard to explain, but think of it like an online form. If you need more info, clicking the button add another row.
The issue that I'm having is that I do not want the forms that are not being used to be printed. If I don't toggle their visibility, they should be invisible and not print. This form could have anywhere from 1-20 of the forms being used at different times. They are all set to be hidden until triggered and they do exactly what I want them to and it works perfectly, until I go to print.
This is my exported pdf:

Here is what it looks like when I go to print this without touching anything:
As you can see in the preview screen, all of the rows that I have made in the indd file are being shown as set to print. This should not be happening, but I figured maybe it was a glitch so I printed it anyway, and this came out:

HOWEVER. If I so modify the document, e.g. clck on the "add hat" button and then remove it, the document prints as it should. The problem is that this document will need to be set up so that the entire page is filled with invisible forms that are just waiting to be activated, but not printed.

I initially jumped to that same conclusion that it was probably a bug in the forms as they are a new feature, but they are not the only objects that are misbehaving. There are only 3 forms in each of the sections and 14 normal buttons, so how can it be an issue with the forms? If that was the probelm, they would be the only objects that were printing incorrectly, unless there is some attribute that would apply the form's settings to all buttons... but I don't know how that's possible.

I tried exporting it as an idml originally, and just tried again since the file has been modified but it didn't make a diffrence in the print. Also, I just created a new very simple test document with just 4 buttons, one that shows the other 3 and it has the exact problem that my document with all of the forms has. So it can't be a corruption in my file, it has to be a broader issue.

Buttons and Forms and Layout Adjustments

I have an InDesign form in which there is a radio button that toggels the visabiltiy of a form field. It functions fine; no problems. However, when the the form field is visable, it covers other areas of text. I would like to know whether it is possible to have a layout make adjustments to accomodate space for the form field. In this case, have the text boxes shift down if the form field is open or shift up if the form field is closed.

It is possible, but not for radio buttons and not for PDF. I tested it. You can use a normal button to make the form field appear and make the text box jump down. You can use another button, to do vice versa. Both would be action type "Animation", which can't be assigned to radio buttons. So no toggling.

Browser Back Button and form navigation

Some times when you use browser back button and adf-taskflow navigation buttons, validation on form fails, witout having made any change even with enabled token validation.
Reproduction steps on HR schema:
1. Create QueryDepartment and EditDepartment Views and navigation rules in adfc-config.xml
2 Create ADF view only table page for QueryDepartment selectable, and add navigation button to go to EditDepartment
3. Create EditDepartment form with navigation buttons and button to navigate back to QueryDepartment
test:
1.Run QueryDepartment and select a department
2.Go to Edit Department using navigation button
3.Navigate to next department pressing the 'Next' button
4.Navigate back using the Browser Back button.
5.Try to navigate back to QueryDepartment using the navigation button.
My result is validation error on DepartmentId field 'Error: JBO-25013: '

maybe I don't get it, but as I understood you have problem with focus on select button. So why don’t you set focus onLoad on another element of your page?
Something like onload=”$x(‘ELEMENT_NAME’).focus()”;

For buttons and form

the size of the document of indesign is 2048 * 1536 ,
when you in 1024 * 768 folio,
text contained in the button when it is seen in the retina terminal looks rough .
Why not function , such as a vector in the state setting in ?

Buttons are always rasterized. Use the artwork on its own and put a no
fill/no stroke button above it.

Problem with Audio in Buttons and Interactive

I have problems with the sound into buttons and Forms Interactive. The question is when I add a sound within a button, this it sounds directly when it enters the slides and not when the user presses the button.
How I solve it?

Hi there
It isn't a problem. The function is working as it should. You simply have a different expectation!
You have to think about it in different ways. When do you want the audio to play? When the button has been clicked, right? When you attach audio to an object such as a Button or an Image, the audio plays when that object appears. The trick here is to make an object appear on the Button click. You then attach the audio to that.
If you have Captivate 3 or older, you can enable the Success caption for the button. Attach the audio to the caption. Button is clicked, caption appears and you hear the audio.
What's that you are asking? Oh, you don't want to actually SEE a Success Caption? No problem. Choose the Transparent caption type and remove any text!
If you have Captivate 4, you can also use the same method to accomplish this. But you can also probably use the new scripting in it to make the audio play on a Button click. I can't tell you how to do that at the moment if that's the approach you want to take. I'll have to leave that to another person here that has played with the scripting to explain how it's done.
Likely it involves opening a panel, inserting or declaring a variable, adding a sound file, associating the variable with the sound file, assigning actions to the button to check the variable and change it if you need to. Stuff like that. Sounds a bit like a Rube Goldberg setup. But really that's what happens with the Success Caption method. It's just that we deal with objects and not the code behind the scenes.

Paypal and form help

I designed a webpage for a nonprofit that uses Paypal to collect donations in varying amounts.
I used Paypal's button widget to create a button and form for each specific donation. I then embeded these buttons/forms in the webpage -- I created 7 such buttons and forms. Each form sends the data the user enters to Paypal, where the user completes the payment transaction. Paypal then sends (some of) the data from the transaction to my client. Everything works great.
Problem is my client wants to collect more data than the Paypal widget allows (or that Paypal typically returns to "sellers"). Ideally, my client would like me to include a number of required fields on my client's webpage and have that data sent to them at the same time the user clicks the "submit" button that takes them to Paypal to complete the payment transaction.
Can this be done? And if so, how?
Maybe this needs to be set up as separate pages: 1) the page where the user sees all the donation choices, 2) a second page where the user fills out and submits the information my client wants to collect, 3) a third page where the user enters Paypal specific info, and 4) the Paypal page where the user completes the payment?
Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

I have talked to Paypal at least a half dozen times on this issue. Haven't found them overly helpful.
I'll check this out and report back. Are you referring to the URL redirect? Or is this something in addition to the redirect?
If it's the redirect URL, I currently use that for sending users back to the client's website once the Paypal stuff is complete. Hadn't thought of sending them to a page for more data input. Though, I have considered the reverse -- having them fill out a data form to collect what my client wants, and then have them click a link to go to the Paypal site to complete the payment transaction.
Does the shopping cart allow you to add other (required) data fields, like one for a mailing address, another for a phone number, custom fields for user comments, etc?

Updated to Indesign CC and Incopy CC = sluggish server for icap & idap trying to open with CS5.5

1. The local editors (PC) cannot open the Incopy assignments from the server, like before. When they have tried this, they get font errors and/or extremely slow open. If the Incopy does open, it takes several minutes to make each change.
In order to bypass this, the designer has to package the Incopy assignment and email to them.
2. The other side of the problem occurs when the editor emails back the package to the designer (Mac). Normally, we have been able to double click the package within the email and it opens into Indesign and updates. Now if we do this, the package tries to open with Indesign CS5.5. I placed my Incopy CS5.5 and Indesign CS5.5 into the trash, but it still tries to open with the old application.
In order to bypass this, the designer has to drag the .idap package to the desktop, attempt to open it, save the files to the computer because of an error message, replace the .icml file and then go back to the original indesign file and hope that it updates with the editors corrections. Another work around has been to drag the .idap package over the Indesign CC app.
Not a really efficient way to use this Indesign/Incopy workflow, I know. Perhaps I'm overlooking an easy solution. Please help.

Simply try saving with the same name. It will effectively over-write your file as you want. The "[converted]" I find this to be a courtesy to let you know at a glance that you're working on an older version document. As far as the path issue, I can't answer that, as I use a third party program which, with a single keystroke, takes me to the original folder the files resides in. It's called Default Folder, and I've found it indispensable since 1999. Try it, you'll love it. It's from St. Claire Software.

Sometimes when I have a few forms along with form buttons
hotozontially
close together I find they can have different spacing between
them. I have
set both
form { margin:0;
padding:0;}

but when I have a few hidden field in each form it can make a
bit of
space around a button. is there any way I can get rid of that
space or
control it. I have made sure there was no speace in the code
from the forms
to the buttons and hidden fields but then I get all the
buttons stuck
together, I have tried 2 spaces between each button but it
can end a mess.
is there any special css i can use to resolve this more
easily. I would just
like an even space between each.

This only seems to happen in PCIE6, not other browers.
Give each button a unique 'id' NOT 'bloucku' and 'wowablock'

Hi,
One physical button is enough for a series of "functional buttons" per amount of simultanious visisble buttons. You can change the button prompt at run-time depending on a certain condition. That same condition can also be used when executing the when-button-pressed (wbp) trigger.
Example:
suppose you have 2 functions that you want to create buttons for: enter query and execute query. Only 1 button is visible at one time. In design time you create 1 button. In run-time, depending on :system.mode you set the button prompt to "enter query"or "execute query" and in the wbp trigger you write

execute_query;
else
enter_query;

I want to know how to use buttons in HCM process and form.
And when i click on the button it was validating all the fields and it was throwing an error ( complete SACHP fields) i am not using this filed in any where of my form.
So, please help in getting out of this error. And help me with some document, which method will trigger once we click on the button.

You do not need to add this field to your list. In the view V_T588MFPROPS (SAP delivered), this field is set as mandatory. In configuration, you must maintain the view V_T588MFPROPC (Customer area) and make sure the field is not set to mandatory. This will override the SAP delivered setting and the error message will be not be displayed.

I was online earlier this week and liked the forms with submit buttons and the Adobe site directed me to upgrade to Adobe PRO XI in order to use forms so I bought five licenses. Just had it installed today and it is now asking me to sign up for forms Central in order to use this feature. What gives? The Adobe site gave me the impression that I would have this feature after purchasing the new upgrade. I would not have purchased the upgrade, let alone five of them had I know this. Am I missing something?

Acrobat XI comes with the Fromscentral AIR application and the ability to create PDF forms authored in Formscentral. To have more than the free (1 form with 50 responses) level account you need to sign up for a Formscentral subscription.
