InDesign CC 2014 and FXL EPUBs

Hi all,
I've been testing the new EPUB 3 Fixed Layout export feature in InDesign CC 2014 and it looks terrific!
But... I've been analyzing the HTML/CSS it generates. Does anyone els did so also? If so, what are your impressions? I am curious about that...

I am working on a file I created in Indesign CC 2014 and when I try to rearrange pages in the Pages menu or try to package the file, I get the spinning wheel for 20 mins. then it crashes. What should I do?

Can anyone help? I started a 24 page document in Indesign CC 2014 and have been using the file off of a dropbox acct on my two machines (desktop and macbook pro). I need to rearrange some of the pages but when I try to drag and drop the pages in the Pages menu, I get the ominous spinning wheel...for about 20 mins at times. then It will just crash. The document doesn't have a tone of images. I've also tried to collect and package the file but get the same thing.
What should I do?? Help!

try the script at Adobe Community: InDesign 6 is crashing when attempting to open a particular document. All others are opening OK.
I'd also try moving the pages to a new file, though I suspect that will crash too. Divide and conquer might work -- tray one of your operations on half the document at a time, then repeat by dividing any piece that fails, and so on, until you isolate a page, then use the same method to isolate an object (though it's possible you have a corrupt page).

Problem with Indesign CC 2014 and tables

Problem with Indesign CC 2014 and tables. The text rearranges itself when I delete or add something in a table; the footnotes to the text associated with the overlap even getting unreadable. Just click on the chain symbol in the window and everything is fine. Why?

try circumventing your cc app and see if that helps:

the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).

There is a conflict with third party software or your system keyboard shortcuts. Lately, there have been many postings about conflicts with Chrome extensions so check there first.

InDesign CC 2014 and Printable PDF?

I'm trying to create a printable PDF with InDesign CC 2014.
In the PDF I'm specifying a 1/8" bleed. However, on several of the PDF pages the items that are supposed to bleed are not. I think this may have something to do with images I placed over the master page items. How do I override the master page so I can get the placed images to bleed on the pages in question?

Even if you have bleed set in the document setup and export settings, you still have to actually extend your objects into the bleed area if you want them to bleed.

I keep trying to download the lastes update for InDesign CC 2014 and it fails every time. What should I do?

I have no issues with any of the other programs that I use -- they all update just fine. InDesign CC 2014 is only one that fails continuously. How can I over come this issue?

Color problems printing from InDesign CC 2014 (and CC)

When I print an ad I'm working on from InDesign, the color is off by a lot. If I save the doc as a pdf, it prints correctly from the pdf. If I print from the same InDesign doc on another machine, it prints fine. The problem is not only with this document. Using Bridge I have synched the color, restarted the computer, reinstalled InDesign CC 2014, trashed the Preferences—basically I've done everything listed on the InDesign printing troubleshooting page. Since the documents print correctly from another machine (all the settings are the same), I shouldn't have to use a work-around. I can't be making a pdf every time I need to print from InDesign—which is all the time. Any help appreciated.

Are you using the same printer and driver on both machines?

Indesign CC 2014 Fixed-Layout Epub exported great for iBooks. Can I do the same for Kindle?

I have read a lot about being able to edit the Epub code in a Fixed-Layout Indesign CC exported Epub. This Epub works great in IBooks. What I read said I could clean up the
code so it works for Kindle. But I can't figure out what code needs to be cleaned out. How can I export it correctly or clean it up?

I tried again as you suggested.
I exported a Fixed Layout ePub (exported size ~29mb) and tried to load it on an Mac, iPad and iPhone 5s. The results are inconsistent. On the Mac, I received a message that the file was corrupt. On the iPad, the file did eventually load (the quality of the output is another discussion - sneak preview, it's not as good as Circular Flo. Lots of weird stuff). On the iPhone 5s, iBooks is still spinning and has been for about 10 minutes.

Indesign CC 2014 (and 2013) locks up when switching to Photoshop, which also locks up

I'm on Windows 8 and I use InDesign and Photoshop at the same time. InDesign constantly locks up and and takes Photoshop with it. This happened on CC 2013 and still happens on 2014. If I force-quit InDesign then Photoshop continues to work again.
The behavior happens when I have InDesign open and then alt-tab to Photoshop. Thankfully InDesign recovers files well, but this is a major pain. It doesn't seem to affect Illustrator, another program I use often.
Does anyone else have this problem or know of a solution?

Wondering if maybe you're running into memory issues on your computer?
Check System requirements | Creative Cloud to see if your system meets the minimum requirements.
If you are running multiple applications at the same time, consider significantly increasing the amount of RAM installed in your computer. Adobe recommends 8Gb RAM when running Photoshop... so I'd at least opt for 16Gb, and if you can afford more... beef up your RAM even more.
Other things to try is clearing your preferences and caches, testing without third party plug-ins installed.

Indesign Animation Blurry in FXL EPUB

Hi InDesign EPUB experts. I am trying to create a kid's book with animations and (eventually) read-aloud text. I am also trying some 3rd party apps which do the read-aloud tagging, but whose animations are LAME. So this example is with InDesign native animations. These do almost what I want, without having to go out to Edge Animate and learn yet another program and import that (which I imagine has it's own problems).
My question is: why are my moving kids here getting all blurry and pixelated during the movement? They are 300 dpi at the large size and are a png. (for this little sample I just left the rez at 300, I might want to down sample for the whole book). The movement and sizing is just about as good as I can get for this purpose, but the blurry rendering is completely unacceptable. Why is this happening and is there anything I can do to fix it?

Also related question: can one edit the movement path of a native InDesign animation? That is make the straight path curved? I've tried with the direct selection tool, but I don't seem to be able to do it.

InDesign CC (2014) and Word

Intermittently, when a Word for Mac 2011 document is open and I am moving (over two screens) from that document to InDesign CC (e.g., copying and pasting), InDesign will not respond and its palettes disappear. I have to either 'Hide' the Word doc or Quit Word, or restart InDesign. Has anyone else had this or similar issues.

Just realizing this is an issue across displays. Any software that I have on monitor B will not allow me to click into InDesign on Monitor A to activate the InDesign application. I must toggle, or click another application's window then click InDesign, to make it active.

How do I install and/or activate the "Channels Model.InDesignPlugin" for InDesign CC 2014?

I need to package my files today for an online class using InDesign CC 2014 and I keep getting this error message:

Thanks for responding. Yes: I have tried both ways: First to Save file, then Export to .idml, then reopen to package while inside InDesign -and- as Save file, Export to .idml, Save, Close file, then Reopen as .idml, to package. I also tried a straight out export to PDF and all I get is a blank page with registration, bleed, and crop marks.
Very weird and frustrating. I checked my Extensions Manager just to make sure I didn't miss anything or if I could activate it from there. Channels Model.InDesignPlugin or anything resembling that does not exist. I have been searching on Google to see what I can find. My instructors are aware of the issue so far but this is greatly impacting two of my classes.
Last things I have tried were a full uninstall and re-install since my last post just to see if that would work. Nothing. Same issue still. The .indd verison opens per usual with missing three types of plugins that are YTDChannel related. Even though if I don't need this plugin as mentioned previous by /u/jmlevy, then why is everything coming up blank?

Error in compiling sample project of Indesign CC 2014

Hi,
I am trying to compile sample project of Indesign CC 2014 using VC++ 2013. but it is showing me following error:
"error C2039: 'assert_not_arg' : is not a member of 'boost::mpl' (..\..\..\source\sdksamples\basicmenu\BscMnuSuiteLayoutCSB.cpp) D:\Adobe InDesign CC 2014 SDK\external\dva\third_party\boost_libraries\boost\iterator\detail\facade_iterator_catego ry.hpp"
Build result is also showing "Unknown compiler version - please run the configure tests and report the results".
I have added following path in "Project properties->VC++ directories->Include directories"
D:\Adobe InDesign CC 2014 SDK\external\dva\third_party\boost_libraries
D:\Adobe InDesign CC 2014 SDK\external\dva\third_party\adobe_source_lib
Please let me know if any kind of settings I need to change in VC++ 2013.

2 of everything: photoshop cc (2014) and photoshop cc, etc

I'm a CC member and recent update have created 2 of every CC application. Examples
Photoshop CC (2014) AND Photoshop CC
InDesign CC (2014) AND InDesign CC
Why do I have both files?
If I don't need both, which should I delete?

you have two because they are different versions. new versions tend to add features but also can remove (or deprecate) some, and some new versions don't work with some peripherals/addons (until drivers and addons get updated).
anyway, if you don't need your older cc versions, you can uninstall them and just use the newer cc 2014 versions.
