InDesign CC 2014 launch issue

When launching InDesign CC 2014, I get an error message: 'Unable to launch Adobe InDesign as you do not have sufficient permissions to access the preferences folders.' How do I ensure that I have appropriate permissions?

InDesign CC 2014 Preferences Issue

I am running InDesign CC 2014. When I open a new document, the new document shows the page width and height in points or picas. I have set my preferences to inches but that doesn't seem to do anything. Didn't have this issue before.

Set it with no docs open to make it the default for new work. It won't affect existing files.

Indesign CC(2014) performance issues on Yosemite

Hi there,
Already did a reinstall and deleted my preferences but I keep getting issues with linking text pages that gives me constant lag.
At 6 pages were I link text layers on different pages my computer keeps thinking and it only has about 1000 words. I also pasted in unformatted text to check if it was a Microsoft Word issue, but that didn't help.
Activity monitor spikes at 6GB alone for Indesign for some reason and I haven't found a solution yet. I'm also not on Overprint preview and have everything on low settings. (Mostly because Indesign still has issues with overprint preview on Retina Macbooks for even small documents). I have to force close Indesign each time this occurs.
Has anyone experienced this issue? Or has a solution which might help. At 6 pages lag and having to design 90 will take forever this way.

I have icon missing with Adobe Creative Cloud Installer installed on my mac. It only happened when I updated to yosemite. I went to apply store and got answer was the issue was caused by software. Do you have the same issue?
My thought is that Adobe doesn't work perfectly with yosemite.

InDesign CC 2014 + Mavericks Issues?

I'm running a 3-month old Mac Air with all the upgrades, bells & whistles.
I thought I'd demo InDesign and CreativeCloud today and see how they worked for me on this machine. They both downloaded completely, but InDesign crashes upon opening. Are there known issues with this?
I've got the (enormous) crash/exception report, but thought I'd hold that until needed. Not sure if the entire thing is necessary and I'd rather not puke it all up in here if we only need a piece of it.
Any tips/thoughts would be appreciated.

InDesign CC 2014 TOC Issue

Forgive me in advance if this is a simple NOOB question that would be fixed with a simple checking or unchecking of a tick box somewhere.
Being new to InDesign, I've got my document all laid out nicely and looking pretty schmick. I've even got the TOC looking how I want... mostly.
Now, perhaps this is a design limitation, or like I said, a on/off switch, but I have set up my paragraphs in 3 levels for recognition in the TOC, and all looks good, except one header (lvl 2) starts mid-page, with a level 3 heading (leftover from the previous level 2 sequence) at the top of the page.
Now, by rights, the level 3 heading at the top of the page should appear before the level 2 heading half way down, when the TOC is updated, but alas, the L3 heading appears under the L2 heading in the TOC.
The question begs, am I limited to only being allowed to start a new L2 on a new page???

I don't think there's any way to sort paragraphs other than by story and position on the page when you sort a TOC in page order. When sorting by levels is possible (alphabetical sort), Level 1 is the top level and appears before Level 2, and so on.
Seems to me you re expecting the normal behavior -- your level 3 heading is above the level 2 on the page and you want it to appear before it in the TOC -- so what are you doing that keeps this from happening? Do you have one story, or multiple threads, on this page? Screen shots of the page, the TOC dialog, and the TOC might help.

Adobe Indesign CC 2014 crash on launch

Hi I use this program as well as photoshop, illustrator and muse on a near-constant daily basis. Indesign has suddenly started crashing on launch - the rest of the apps still operate without issue.
I've restarted, reinstalled indesign, disabled all fonts except system fonts - not too sure what the deal is but will need this up and running again asap.
Only significant change that's happened today is I updated a Sony game.

Failure to update and now launch InDesign CC 2014

Yesterday I updated all Adobe CC applications on all iMacs in my institution's labs. On each iMac, the InDesign update was the only one to fail. The error code gives no technical reason and the only solution is to reinstall the program. This is not a viable option for a enterprise user. Now, whenever a user tries to launch InDesign CC 2014, it fails with a message saying it needs a newer version of the Dynamic Documents plug in (1.0 or newer). Is think linked to the update fail? It must be because before InDesign was working fine.

Launching InDesign CC 2014 with documents already open

How can I set up InDesign CC 2014 so that it launches with the documents and library that I was working with when I shut it down, already open?
InDesign CS6 used to do this and I assumed it was automatic, with CC 2014 I have to reopen everything.

Just to respond again, it's not actually the OS thing from what I can see - I hadn't changed any settings from before I upgraded to CC from CS.
I've looked at the Restart/Log-out tick option - it's not a case of restarting the machine and having the apps relaunch.
It's just that I want the app to reopen the docs that I was working on when I closed it last.

It isn't happening to everyone else, but if there was a trend of it happening to a lot of people, that would probably show up in the official InDesign user forum. But there aren't a lot of crash reports there, so it isn't something that's happening to everyone. There are a couple, so you might look at those. But since there is not a huge wave of crash reports, the problem might be more related to a problem on the system rather than a problem with InDesign, like a corrupted font.
The best place to troubleshoot is probably over at the Adobe forum since the users there know InDesign very well.

that s just the problem, that is why my level of frustration is boiling over ... I have told InDesign over and over again "Do Not Show Again" but it will just not hold the settings. It might hold it for a day or so, but then suddenly there it is again on another launch. Very very annoying.

As already told this means that the plugin has not been ported correctly. Some part of it for ex InDesign libraries or frameworks are being referenced from the CC sdk instead of the CC2014 sdk. To troubleshoot it i would advise you to rename the folder containing the CC sdk on your machine and then compile the project, it will fail to compile and you will get to know straightaway what aspects of the ported project are still accessing the old sdk. Fix the errors and your plugin will load fine.

InDesign CC 2014 Will Not Launch

I am running Windows 8.1, and I have been trying to get InDesign CC 2014 to work all night. I looked up on these forums possible solutions, but they either do not work, or do not apply. When I attempt to delete preferences to make it work, the folder is empty and has nothing to delete. I also ran the Cleaner tool, but when I check the report, it says it failed. I am at a loss. Does anyone have other solutions?

The problem here is the installer failed to set the permissions on the preference folders, so ID cannot write them (which is why they aren't there). Find the two Adobe folders under Appdata/local and appdata/roaming and set both System and your user to full control for the folder and subfolders.

InDesign CC 2014 freezes on "What's New" window

Dear All,
InDesign CC 2014 is freezing up everything when it hangs on the "What's New" window which is completely a blank white. I can't close the application or force quit or do anything else…I have to shut down the computer in order to quit the application or do anything else on the computer -- it is completely frozen. When the computer restarts, InDesign CC 2014 automatically tries to start up again and freezes the computer unless I get to it before it launches and force quit before it gets a chance to freeze again.
InDesign CC is working normally, but I notice that when CC 2014 launches, it also launches InDesign CC with it and both seem to run at the same time. This does not happen when I start from InDesign CC -- only that application is then active.
"I'm also getting an Adobe warning that has begun to appear stating: "Administrator rights are required to complete Adobe add-ons installation or removal" and I'm not sure which application this is referring to or how to log in for these "rights",
Anyone else having these issues? I'm working on a Mac pro.

I'm not sure what vernon you're now running? Did the above fix work on the new InDesign 2014? or are you saying that InDesign CC is now working? The suggested "fix" says to open the InDesign CC folder, so I'm wondering if deleting the "What's New" folder from InDesign CC actually also removes it from InDesign 2014? and is a temporary fix for InDesign 2014, allowing it to finally launch? Thanks.

Shree Lipi 7.3 does not work in Indesign CC 2014

Hello,
I am using Adobe CC with Shree Lipi 7.3.
Recently adobe has launched Indesign CC 2014.
I have installed it but unable to type in Indian Language in Shree Lipi.
At the time of typing it keep space between characters.
(Shree Lipi works fine in Photoshop and Illustrator CC 2014 )
can any body have solution to solve this issue.
