InDesign CC 2014 + Mavericks Issues?

I'm running a 3-month old Mac Air with all the upgrades, bells & whistles.
I thought I'd demo InDesign and CreativeCloud today and see how they worked for me on this machine. They both downloaded completely, but InDesign crashes upon opening. Are there known issues with this?
I've got the (enormous) crash/exception report, but thought I'd hold that until needed. Not sure if the entire thing is necessary and I'd rather not puke it all up in here if we only need a piece of it.
Any tips/thoughts would be appreciated.

I am running InDesign CC 2014. When I open a new document, the new document shows the page width and height in points or picas. I have set my preferences to inches but that doesn't seem to do anything. Didn't have this issue before.

Set it with no docs open to make it the default for new work. It won't affect existing files.

Indesign CC(2014) performance issues on Yosemite

Hi there,
Already did a reinstall and deleted my preferences but I keep getting issues with linking text pages that gives me constant lag.
At 6 pages were I link text layers on different pages my computer keeps thinking and it only has about 1000 words. I also pasted in unformatted text to check if it was a Microsoft Word issue, but that didn't help.
Activity monitor spikes at 6GB alone for Indesign for some reason and I haven't found a solution yet. I'm also not on Overprint preview and have everything on low settings. (Mostly because Indesign still has issues with overprint preview on Retina Macbooks for even small documents). I have to force close Indesign each time this occurs.
Has anyone experienced this issue? Or has a solution which might help. At 6 pages lag and having to design 90 will take forever this way.

I have icon missing with Adobe Creative Cloud Installer installed on my mac. It only happened when I updated to yosemite. I went to apply store and got answer was the issue was caused by software. Do you have the same issue?
My thought is that Adobe doesn't work perfectly with yosemite.

"Save As" folder not pointing to file's native directory (InDesign CC (2014), Mavericks)

I think the subject pretty much explains it.
Since recently upgrading from CS6 to CC, the File > Save As behavior has changed. With CS6 the default directory for Save As would be the file's native folder. When I run a File > Save As in CC however, Finder points to the folder that InDesign last saved to.
Any ideas on how to fix this are gigantically appreciated.

InDesign CC 2014 TOC Issue

Forgive me in advance if this is a simple NOOB question that would be fixed with a simple checking or unchecking of a tick box somewhere.
Being new to InDesign, I've got my document all laid out nicely and looking pretty schmick. I've even got the TOC looking how I want... mostly.
Now, perhaps this is a design limitation, or like I said, a on/off switch, but I have set up my paragraphs in 3 levels for recognition in the TOC, and all looks good, except one header (lvl 2) starts mid-page, with a level 3 heading (leftover from the previous level 2 sequence) at the top of the page.
Now, by rights, the level 3 heading at the top of the page should appear before the level 2 heading half way down, when the TOC is updated, but alas, the L3 heading appears under the L2 heading in the TOC.
The question begs, am I limited to only being allowed to start a new L2 on a new page???

I don't think there's any way to sort paragraphs other than by story and position on the page when you sort a TOC in page order. When sorting by levels is possible (alphabetical sort), Level 1 is the top level and appears before Level 2, and so on.
Seems to me you re expecting the normal behavior -- your level 3 heading is above the level 2 on the page and you want it to appear before it in the TOC -- so what are you doing that keeps this from happening? Do you have one story, or multiple threads, on this page? Screen shots of the page, the TOC dialog, and the TOC might help.

Indesign CC 2014 crashes when duplicated pages within pages panel

running InDesign CC 2014 - mavericks 10.9.3. If I have content on say page one and within the pages panel I click and drag page one to the new page icon (something I do all the time to duplicate a page and it's content) it crashes InDesign. This is happening when I have copy pasted gradient mesh objects from illustrator to indesign. they paste in just fine, and I can copy paste those objects around, but not the whole page within the page panel

Thanks for the test file. We could reproduce the crash.
We've identified the reason for the crash in your file. The problematic object is the RSS feed icon at the top right of the spread.
We've determined a fix for the crash and it should be available to all users in one of the upcoming patches. In the meanwhile, to prevent the crash, you could use the following workaround : Cut this object onto the clipboard. Duplicate the spread. Then paste the icon back in its place (Edit > Paste in Place).

DID you delete from the hidden user library?
Try to delete AAMupdater folder from
         ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/      If above doesn't worked then perform below step:
Delete the opm.db file under
        ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE
trash it and launch Creative Cloud Desktop and try to Sign in.
if that does not work, then
to Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers and uninstall Creative Cloud Desktop. Run the cleaner tool to remove any left over ruminants:http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html .
Download CC desktop from https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud and try to sign in.
Please let us know if the issue still persists.

It isn't happening to everyone else, but if there was a trend of it happening to a lot of people, that would probably show up in the official InDesign user forum. But there aren't a lot of crash reports there, so it isn't something that's happening to everyone. There are a couple, so you might look at those. But since there is not a huge wave of crash reports, the problem might be more related to a problem on the system rather than a problem with InDesign, like a corrupted font.
The best place to troubleshoot is probably over at the Adobe forum since the users there know InDesign very well.

As already told this means that the plugin has not been ported correctly. Some part of it for ex InDesign libraries or frameworks are being referenced from the CC sdk instead of the CC2014 sdk. To troubleshoot it i would advise you to rename the folder containing the CC sdk on your machine and then compile the project, it will fail to compile and you will get to know straightaway what aspects of the ported project are still accessing the old sdk. Fix the errors and your plugin will load fine.

InDesign CC 2014 won't download or install

I'm running OS X 10.6.8 (Mountain Lion?) on a 2011 17" MacBook Pro. I have the Design Standard CC subscription.
I'm getting InDesign CC 2014 Mac files from customers, and they won't open in InDesign CC.
I would install InDesign CC 2014, but don't see a Mac installer in the Adobe Application Manager. (It was automatically pushed and installed to my PC a couple of months ago.)
I suspect I need to upgrade my OS, but I've read that Yosemite is an Adobe-killer, so I'm not doing that!
Mavericks is supposed to be good for Adobe products, but I can't find an installer. Apparently it's no longer available in the Mac App store.
I have a work-around for now, but I can't be the only one with this problem!
We have only two Macs here in my office, both still running Mountain Lion.

I do have permission to install Apps. I have CC for Teams, I am the administrator.
My issue is that Indesign CC 2014 does not show up on my list of applications in the Application Manager on my Mac.
I also have CC on my PC. InDesign CC 2014 was automatically pushed to the App Manager, I installed it awhile back on my PC. But on my Mac, it's not even available to me.
I've researched it some, and it looks like InDD CC 2014 won't run in Mountain Lion (10.6.8) which would explain why it doesn't show up. Minimum specs = Mac OS X v10.7, v10.8, v10.9, or v10.10, according to Adobe. And I can't find a Mavericks (10.9) installer anywhere. And Yosemite is too new, I'm not going to beta test that.

Are there any fixes or workarounds that allow me to print directly from InDesign CS3 to Mavericks 10.9.4. Everything I try now causes InDesign to freeze if I attempt to print. The only way is to export the file as a PDF. Thank you.

You shouldn’t be having a problem like that. I’m going to move this to the InDesign forum but it would help if you posted more details on the issues you’re having.
Another thing to try is exporting to INX from CS3 and opening the INX in CS5.5

Used the 64bit version before CC 2014 as well so don't think that's the issue. Here is the text in the .mxi file if I have missed something:

Problems importing images or text via "place" in inDesign CC 2014

I just installed inDesign CC 2014 on my new iMac. I have a major problem when trying to "place" objects/text files in a document. It takes 30 seconds to 2 minutes or more to populate each and every window on the path to the file I need. What is this? Is this a known issue?

To "populate each window" : after hitting the "place" command keys (cmd+d) on the mac, the window that opens is EMPTY of files and folders. The delay is several minutes now, also on every subsequent window down the path to the actual file that I want to import. Meanwhile, these files are immediately visible in the finder windows when clicking on the desktop. My OX is Yosemite 10.10.1. This lag happens before getting to the stage of seeing the miniature in the mouse pointer.
Is this a known issue in the new CC inDesign 2014? Is Adobe aware of it?

InDesign CC 2014 tryout has only some new features and some others are old: strangest thing ever.

Hi everyone, I have installed a tryout on InDesign CC 2014 today to work on epubs. The app is having all sort of problems. It crashed while making packages. I resetted the prefs and this was fixed.
But the most annoying and strange things are the new features: some are showing (like the export fixed layout epub option), others are not (interactivity menu is exactly the old one, bookmarks options in export panel are not showing).
I had uninstalled it and installed again. It is still not working. I work on an iMac with sys 10.9.5 (Yosemite).
I need to keep the old version running for compatibility issues. I can't delete it.
I am stuck: any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

For example: I have the "export fixed layout epub" (which I do not have in InDesign CC) , but I do not have the bookmarks option in the export panel. I still see SWF preview, but not the epub interactivity menu under -> view -> interactivity. To be more precise: I am following a Lynda.com course about epub: I'm not guessing what to look for or what button to click. I have to follow very careful instruction step-by-step that I can't follow because the program miss some parts.
I attach an image to better explain. It's in italian, but if you just count the options you will see that one is missing: the bookmark (and last) one.
