  • InDesign CC 2014 locking up (Mac OSX 10.9.5)

I am trying to make changes on an owner's manual and after a brief amount of time, InDesign locks up. It shows a blank page no matter what page I'm on and when I finally give up and go to force quit (command-option-escape) the dialog does not list inDesign as not responding. I am under the gun on this project and would appreciate any feedback. I have tried to work with other documents to see if it's just this document but the same thing happens. I have an older version of inDesign (CS 5) and it works quite well but this document was created in CC 2014 and I can't open it in earlier versions.

Have you tried Troubleshooting 101: Replace, or "trash" your InDesign preferences or Troubleshooting 101: Export to .idml or .inx to clear file corruption

  • How do I install existing indesign querys into InDesign CC 2014 on my mac?

I received directions but cannot find the below location to add the querys
    Mac OS Users\[username]\Library\Preferences\Adobe InDesign\[Version]\[Language]\Find-Change Queries\[query type]

That should be Hard Drive\Users\[username]\Library\Preferences\Adobe InDesign\[Version]\[Language]\Find-Change Queries\  (or ~library/...) and it's a hidden folder. See Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 and later

  • Running InDesign CC 2014 on Mac vs Windows

I was wondering if anyone has had the opportunity to run InDesign CC 2014 on a Mac AND on Windows, and which one is better overall. I've noticed that it seems to take much longer to open a book file on Windows, but it takes less time to run a script (not normal operating procedure, I know). I notice other differences but I haven't used it much on Windows, so I'd like some opinions. My department is using Macs right now (OS 10.8.5) but we're connected to Windows servers and have had major problems searching the servers from the Macs, so I'm trying to decide whether or not to switch to Windows 7 running in Boot Camp.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
    Lloyd

Correct. You get what you pay for.
I can tell you that running InDesign CC2014 on my MacBook Air is identical in every way to running it on the same machine under bootcamp with Windows 10.
On my desktop running 8.1 with 16 GB or RAM an i7 processor and an SSD it’s quite speedy.
    Hope that helps.

  • Problem with Indesign CC 2014 (Creative Cloud)

I tryed to install InDesign CC 2014 (in a Mac) from Creative Cloud but the installation hangs in 17%... Checking the logs shows me that there is a problem with the file.
Here is a screenshot of the logs
If this is correct the selected text says that the file is corrupted...
Note: This is the unique app that give me problems... I have installed Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, Pro, etc. without any problem.
    Any idea?

try circumventing your cc app and see if that helps:
if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here:  Adobe CC 2014 Direct Download Links: Creative Cloud 2014 Release | ProDesignTools
if you have a problem starting the download, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com or initiates the download of an incorrect (eg, current) version.

  • InDesign CC 2014 crashes on startup, can I get CC back?

    Hi,
I discovered on the last update of my CC that I also acquired the 2014 versions. I didn't realise that I was now running 2 versions of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. My mac is old, (that last of the 17" ones), but up until this update and additional installation of CC 2014, it was running fine. Now I cannot open an INDD file without the 'rainbow wheel of death' eventually occurring in a forced shutdown. I didn't realise I still also had my old CS5.5 Design Premium, so I proceeded to uninstall them, then the InDesign CC version as well, so I only had the most recent InDesign CC 2014 on my mac. I don't think this is a space issue, as there was at least 23GB still available with all 3 versions on my mac.
So now I have the following: Illustrator CC, Photoshop CC, and InDesign CC 2014. Now every time my InDesign CC 2014 loads up (takes forever) it freezes the mac, forcing a manual shutdown. I tried to download InDesign CC back last night but there's no link available in my CC menu.
I am running Mac OS Lion 10.7.5 - I can't upgrade my OS any further than that on the 17" model.
Processor 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory 2GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Realising I have a 'vintage' model, I currently have a new one on order but until it comes I need to keep using my 17" in order to meet deadlines. Would really appreciate someone's help here.

You now know that you should never uninstall old until you are sure new works

  • InDesign CC 2014 Keyboard Shortcuts Not Working

Hello, I just installed and updated to InDesign CC 2014 on my Mac (OS X) and a lot of keyboard shortcuts are now missing. To move your view on the page, one would usually hold the space bar down and drag the hand tool. This no longer works. Also, usually to copy/drag an object, one would hold the option key and drag. This no longer works. Also usually to keep an object inline, one would hold the shift key and drag the object. This no longer works. I need assistance on getting this working again ASAP. Thank you.

Quit Chrome. Quit Safari. Quit Firefox. Quit any form of web access > Restart InDesign > Open Adobe InDesign first (shortcuts should have returned) > Then open web browser of preference.
    ..still not working?
Restart MAC / PC > Reopen Adobe InDesign first (short cuts should have returned) > Then open web browser of preference.

My user is an Administrator and I can run all the other apps I use (Ps, Lightroom, Illustrator)
    Only Indesign can't start.
I uninstalled it and installed it again. Nothing changed.

  • Mac OS 10.10 - Indesign CC 2014 Crashing on startup

I recently updated my mac OS to Yosemite 10.10 and for the life of me I can't launch Adobe Indesign CC 2014 without crashing. I have tried removing and reinstalling the cc apps as well as attempting to replace the pref files to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I just had a similar problem, InDesign immediately and repeatedly crashing at startup, with this error message:
    Application Specific Information:
*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'Couldn't posix_spawn: error 35'
terminating with uncaught exception of type NSException
    abort() called
Gibberish to me. I found this thread and started looking for the Cleaner Tool, but then I found that Creative Cloud (the "umbrella" app) needed updating. I went along with that, and after updating everything works just as it should.
Maybe my experience can help someone else. Check to see that Creative Cloud is updated before trying anything else.

  • Indesign CC 2014 starts only by deleting preferences, stalls otherwise

Indesign CC 2014 Windows 7 all updates in place
For some inexplicable reason, if I attempt to start InDesign CC2014 by traditional means. (click on desktop icon or click on INDD file), the program stalls at "loading the application." If I delete preferences (shift+control+alt) during the starting sequence when I click on the desktop icon, the program will start and run normally. Any ideas on how to fix?
    Thanks,
    Joe

Peter, thanks for your reply. I have two "essential" third party "helpers." Teacup software Typefittter Pro and Extensis Fusion 5. Ever hear of anyone else having issues with these?

  • Can't start InDesign CC 2014

I have got the same problem as mentioned in this thread:
    Re: can't open indesign 2014
Unfortunately the solution mentioned there doesn’t work for me.
My newly installed InDesign CC 2014 doesn’t start, the errors message says I haven‘t got the required permissions for access to the preferences folder.
    What I tried:
    - I copied the preferences folder ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Adobe InDesign/9.0 to ..../10.0
(first only the folder, then including AppPrefs.xml, both didn’t help)
    These folders have owner "myusername"/"staff"
    - tried Disk Utility to repair permissions
    System is MacOSX Mavericks (10.9.3)
Every other InDesign version starts fine (CS5.5 to CC), also the new Photoshop works.
Any other folders to check? Which permissions for which user are required?
    Thanks for some hints ...

    Hello Martin,
    1. Maybe you have to activate/deactivate, so please have a look there:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html
2, Sometimes, we know in the meantime, the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
    3. Did you already try "uninstalling and re-installing"?
Be careful with (de)installing aso. by (de)installing by your own resources. As much as I regret it and as strange as it may seem I fear it's a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.
Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)
I quote: Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool helps resolve installation problems for Adobe Creative CloudCS6) applications. The tool removes installation records for prerelease installations of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications. It does not affect existing installations of previous versions of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications.
Please use: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html   and follow the prescribed sequence of operations
    4. If necessary and for further questions click through http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html or http://helpx.adobe.com/de/contact.html and if "open" please use chat, I had the best experiences.
    Good luck!
    Hans-Günter
