  • LabVIEW 64-bit crashes upon startup but LabVIEW 32-bit works fine.

Recently had to uninstall and reinstall both LabVIEW 32 and 64-bit versions because the network administrator is dumb.  Now 32-bit works fine but the 64-bit version immediately crashes upon opening.  Getting the following Labview Crash: Exception: Unknown (0xC06D007E) at EIP=0x000007FEFCE1940D.  We're running LabVIEW 2012 on Windows 7 64 bit system.

Did you try to repair the 64-bit version? Was it working previously fine?
The best solution is the one you find it by yourself

I have also tried forcibly resetting the settings without any luck.

  • Bridge CS6 64-bit AND 32-bit crash!

I am not sure why this is but Bridge CS6 crashes in either 64-bit version or 32-bit version.  I do not have the same problem with Bridge CS5.5 which I believe is 32-bit.
I can't fathom that a 64-bit app with as much memory (more than 8GB) on my machine and a pretty decent NVidia Quaddro card would cause such issues.  I had installed the latest video drivers not that long ago (within the past 2-6 months) when I was experiencing a separate issue on a non-adobe software crash on startup.  Changing or upgrading the video driver caused the software to become responsive again and this was with a 3D software application.
If 64-bit apps are supposed to see the maximum RAM why would my 32-bit CS5.5 not crash in the following scenario? :
A top-level or sub-top level directory which is displaying results from subfolders and when I navigate to a thumbnail CS6 crashes but CS5.5 does not.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I think I have at least 1GB Vram

    Curt,
I didn't know exactly which portion of the Event Viewer app to look into so I checked this Windows Vista document which should be the same for Windows 7 which I'm on:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/identify-software-conflicts-system-log.html
I couldn't find an actual Adobe log since no error window came up when it crashed/crashes.
I tried running as administrator as the other person suggested but could not seem to solve the issue.
I still haven't updated my video driver to whatever might have come out last night but I will double check to see if I am running the latest one.
Thanks so far for your responses guys.

  • Photoshop CS5 64 bit crashes at launch, save as, and when opening photos from Lightroom.

I have had this problem intermittently for years with different versions and different computers, but this time it is not going away.  I need to use the 64 bit version for large files, but it keeps crashing in several different ways.
1- I open the program from the desktop.  It shows the spash screen, shows the workspace for a couple of seconds, and then crashes with the message:

I am using the latest version.
My video card drivers are totally up to date.
I am using a decent computer with 16 gig of ram.
I am opening the program as an administrator.
I have reset the prefrences too many times to count by deleting the prefrences and holding down ctrl+alt+shift at startup.
2- If by some wild stretch of the imagination I get the program to start with totally cleared prefrences and running as administrator then the program will crash about 75% of the time when using "Save As".
If I try to do anything special like create a new folder to put the file into then the chances of a crash increase greatly.
3- If I try to open up a file from Lightroom, even if the files are opening every other way, Photoshop will crash very often.
What is going on here?  I have made no changes to my computer, have not installed any new programs, and, as I stated earlier, have everything updated.  I even stopped using plugins a long time ago because I did not want to take the chance that it was going to cause this fragile program to crash, so all plugins are uninstalled.  Why does this keep happening?  When this has happened before everything will work fine for months and then suddenly I cannot get the program to open.  When it does open again, for seemingly as unknown a reason as when it stopped, it will work anywhere from a few minutes to another couple of months.
This seems to be a problem that tons of people have, but I have not been able to find any answer other than "Delete Settings" or "Run as Administrator" or "Update *****."
What can I do to keep this from happening and to fix it when it happens?

    Update - Problem Solved.
The problem turned out to be with with Avast.  I found other people that were having the same problem with Outlook and they pointed to this problem.  The live scripts protection seems to have been causing the crash on startup.  Why it was intermittant at first and got worse I have no idea, but since disabling Avast temporarily while starting I have not had the problem again.  Now I am just going to have to start shopping for more Photoshop friendly antivirus software.
Thank you for the advice Mylenium, unfortunately (or actually fortunately for me) I did not have any 64 bit conflicts.
The other action that I took was to remove all programs installed since the problem started.  This did not fix the problem but it certainly cannot hurt to keep everything that I am not using off the computer anyways.

Both are referencing cooltype.dll. I ran Font Doctor on all system and non-system fonts and found no errors. Booted without Extensis Suitcase loading. Nothing works. All 32 bit programs work fine. Any clues would be appreciated.

It does not necessarily mean a "corrupt" font, but can be a font that PrPro, and PS, cannot handle.
Though I have read that changes have been made, Open Office's DejaVu font would crash PrPro's Titler - every time. There are quite a few others. Font Dr, and similar utilities, will not see the font(s) as corrupt, but they are so poorly designed, that PrPro and PS cannot deal with them.
Though it can be a long, drawn out process, one can often zero in on the problem font(s), with a little work. This is accomplished by first defining the "System Fonts," and not touching them. Then, uninstall half of the remaining fonts, and testing PrPro and PS. If they launch fine, you know that somewhere in that list of fonts, the problem exists. If there is still a failure to launch, chances are good that the problem font(s) reside in that half, that are still installed. Note: because the problem still exists, does not guarantee that there are NOT problem fonts in that uninstalled group, so keep that in mind.
Repeat the proces, by uninstalling half of the remaining fonts and testing.
If necessary, repeat by removing half of the now remaining fonts and testing.
When you get to a point, where you are no longer getting problems, reinstall fonts, in small groups, testing in between. The smaller the groups, the easier it will be to pinpoint the problem font(s).
Keep notes on which fonts you are uninstalling and reinstalling, until you narrow it down to the problem font(s).
I would start by uninstalling any "free fonts," and then commercial, 3rd party fonts. A lot of free fonts are just poorly designed, and can cause issues, though they might work fine in some other programs.
I use a font manager, so that I only have ~ 350 fonts installed at one time, and then dynamically install fonts, as needed for Projects. That keeps my machine clean, and if, upon installation, I get a crash/hang, I know that at least one font in that Set is causing it. This helps, as my workstation has ~ 19,000 fonts on it, and some are free fonts, and many are from 3rd parties. Some are also very, very old.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - one common cause for hangs on loading PrPro can be from VST's, used in Audio-editing. If you also have a lot of VST's, you could have two issues with two separate programs, i..e. PS hanging on fonts, and PrPro hanging on VST's. The results would be the same, but the causes could be different. That leads to even more work. For PrPro, also see this ARTICLE. If you get PS launching, but PrPro is still not functioning, drop by the PrPro Forum, and someone can help you there.

  • CS6 (64 bit) crashes 'Bad Pool Header'

    Hi All,
I just installed Photoshop CS6 International English and the 13_0_1_1 update.
Bridge standard and 64 bit both work. CS6 standard works. CS6 64 bit crashes with a blue screen 'Bad Pool Header'.
I reinstalled CS6 and the update. No change.
Windows and all drivers are up to date.
I have been using Photoshop for many years - starting with v 6. I have been using CS5 64 bit on this system since it came out with no problems. CS5 64 bit is still working with CS6 installed.
CS6 64 bit is the only program to have ever given me this error on any computer I have ever had.
    Custom built system:
    Asus motherboard M4A78-e
AMD Phenom 9950 quad 2.61 GHz
8 GB 1066 MHz Corsair ram
    Ati Radeon Sapphire Vapor-X HD4890 1GB memory
    Enermax Revolution 85+ power supply
    Zalman CPU 9950 fan
    Lian-Li PC60FN case
Windows xp professional x64 service pack 2.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my problem and thank you in advance for any suggestions.

    Dear Mylenium,
I can see from your profile you have been very active on this forum for many years and have undoubtedly helped too many people to count. However, your certainty and negativity belies my experience, both with CS 5 64 bit and with CS 6 Bridge 64 bit, as you can see from my initial post.
I took your suggestion and opened the Event Viewer. There were no logs to read. I looked in the properties of each of the log types in the events window and went to windows\system32\config\ just to be sure. Is there anything I can do to trigger creatitng an event log or should I look to finding the info in some other way or place?
Thank you for taking the time to respond.
    Sasha

  • Indesign cs5 32 bit for available?

indesign cs5 32 bit for available?

Do you already have a license, or are you trying to upgrade, or find a new full license?
CS5 is no longer distributed, but there are ways to get the trial version which can be activated with your exisiting serial number. Other than that you're looking at purchasing through a non-authorized supply chain and you may or may not get something you can use.

  • Logic 9.1 crashes on startup in 32 bit. Works fine in 64 bit.

I am using Logic rewired to Ableton Live for all my tunes, so I cannot use the 64 bit version of Logic given the lack of rewire support. That and I use Novation Autopmat which is also not available, so there are multiple reasons why I need to use the 32 bit version.
When launching 9.1 in 32 bit mode, it crashes at startup. The splash screen comes up, then my whole screen flashes, and I get the unexpected crash dialog box. Set Logic to open in 64 bit, it opens up fine.
I have disabled all AU plugins and also removed them all from the components folder, with no positive effect.
Logic 9.0.2 works perfectly fine, which is what I've been sticking with the past month. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you post the crashlog? Might give some clues.
Does Logic 32-bit work if you start it bypassing the audio engine (hold control while starting it up).

  • ODBC Data Source Administrator (64-bit) crashes when I try to invoke PostgreSQL ANSI(x64) or Unicode(x64) drivers

ODBC Data Source Administrator (64-bit) crashes with the following operation:
    1. Open 'ODBC Data Source Administrator (64-bit).
    2. Choose 'User DSN' tab
    3. Click 'Add' on right of windows. 'Create New Data Source' window opens
    4. Select driver 'PostgreSQL ANSI(x64)'
    5. Click 'Finish'
    6. Then get message 'ODBC Administrator has stopped working', with only option 'Close program'. A generic, unhelpful message is give: "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
Using the 32 bit ODBC Data Source Administrator and 32 bit driver there is no problem. I also had no problem with this under Windows 7 using the 64 bit drivers. What might cause this? Is there a way to debug and determine whether the driver is at fault or whether
    it's ODBC Data Source Administrator.
    Further information:
This Windows 8 Enterprise 64 bit installation was an upgrade from Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.
The PostgreSQL ANSI(x64) driver can be installed from: http://www.postgresql.org/ftp/odbc/versions/msi/
    I am using version 'psqlodbc_09_01_0200-x64'
Please request any further information that might be useful.

    HI,
If you have the Download .dmg you could try to reinstall it.
The computer will need a restart afterwards.
At this point the app still may not work properly but you should be able to access the Uninstall option in the Messages menu to get back to iChat.
The Messages Download was removed yesterday.

Sorry for this late answer. I had not to time hanging around on the pc. Thank you for your help.
    I solved the problem, lucky!
After deinstalling all Apple Software (except safari) I started the PC again and installed Itunes another time.
It worked, so I am happy, still not knowing what was the problem.
The best thing is, that my mediathek is still running (I hoped so, it was put on another harddrive.)

  • Bios recovery for HP dv5-1235dx/Vista (64-bit) crashed during update

My HP Pavillion dv5-1235dx which ran windows vista (64-bit) crashed while updating bios (after my old bios was deleted).  I have tried the start+b+power trick to recover but that option did not work.  HP Support suggests to create a usb key to install bios, however I have repeatedly failed in recovering/installing bios because the instructions are very limited. They mention a "create a usb key" option that I have yet to find that would make the key.  After using the HP UEFI BIOS Update SoftPAQ and extracting files from the bios .exe file, I found the following:
1 folder (sp45138) with contents below
    3602F21.fd
    3603F21.fd
    ding (wave sound)
    InsydeFlash (application)
    InsydeFlash (text document)

    iscflash.sys
    iscflashx64.sys
    platform (configuration settings)
So, my questions are as follows:
Where is the mystery "create a usb key" button?
What files should I have installed on my usb drive?
Does anything have to be renamed or formatted?
    Thanks for any help given!

Hello Ceelion21.  I understand you're trying to recover your computer from a failed BIOS flash.
I see this question get asked a lot so I have made sure to bookmark the instructions which I found on another website.  Here is a link.
You should be able to download the BIOS file from HP Support.  I believe you'll need to use an application such as 7-Zip to extract the BIOS file and locate the *.FD file.
If this doesn't work you'll likely need to have the notebook repaired.  If you'd like to inquire about a repair through HP Support and are in the US/Canada you can give them a call at 1-800-474-6836.  If you're in another part of the world you'll need to visit HP Support Worldwide to get your region's contact information.
Let me know the result of the BIOS recovery.  I hope you have an excellent night!
Please click the white star under my name to give me Kudos as a way to say "Thanks!"
Click the "Accept as Solution" button if I resolve your issue.

When InDesign CC launches, it gets to a certain point before it crashes every time at the same point.  It is the 64-bit versions only, the 32-bit will still load but it is so much slower and terrible to work in for me.  I am running Windows 7 and have all the latest cloud InDesign updates installed.  I have tried exiting the CC launcer application so the TypeKit fonts wouldn't load on startup with no avail.  I have tried using msconfig to use a Selective startup, not loading any startup items and restarting and again, no dice.

So here's what I've done now.  I uninstalled the 32-bit version and tried to update the 64-bit version but the CC app wouldn't give me an option to update.  Then I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it said it was updating at the end of installation process, and now I have both 32 and 64-bit versions installed (I don't have an option, the CC app installs both and I don't know of any other way to install) and here's the versions I have now that it installed by default:
    32-bit (9.2.1.101):
    64-bit (9.0.0.244):
And of course, the 64-bit version is still crashing in the same place during launch.
Salah, you mentioned to "Try to run indesign cc 64-bit from windows start menu and install the latest update" - I actually have been launching the two versions of InDesign from the start menu throughtout this entire process.  How do I go about installing the latest update for the 64-bit version?  There's no update that appears in my CC app for me to install.
Maybe it's just the CC app that's messed up?  I did notice in the apps list that it says Lightroom 4 is installed and gives me the choice to install 5, but I uninstalled that a while ago and have been running version 5 on my machine.
