InDesign CC keeps crashing when I move objects?

Whenever I try to move text/objects in InDesign CC the program crashes. I completely uninstalled indesign and reinstalled it, but it's still crashing when I try to move things with my mouse. It lets me move things with the arrow keys or clicking the arrows at the top, and it also lets me rotate and transform things, I just can't drag them.

It's not allowing me to download the update. The CC app isn't showing that have any updates and when I tried to download the update directly it says "Updates have been surpressed by administrator".

  • InDesign CC keeps crashing when I try to place any PDF's

InDesign CC keeps crashing when I try to place any PDF's - I'm running it on windows 7.0
I've tried several different PDFs all with the same result
    Any ideas?

This sounds like it might have been a problem with the selected import options (for example, setting a crop option for a crop box that isn't actually defined in the PDF). These options are "sticky" until changed, so when you have a problem like this it's a good idea to try again and show the import options.

My magazine last month is still working ok - but this month's version has just started crashing for some reason.

We can't know. You have not provided any system info, not told us what version of ID you use nor provided any specifics about the document like images, color profiles, fonts, paragraph styles and what have you...

    Please could someone advise?

Try trashing the prefs (see Replace Your Preferences ) and empty the InDesign Recovery folder (it's inthe same Caches folder as InDesign SavedData).

  • InDesign CC keeps crashing when I try to save out a printable PDF with Trim and/or Bleed marks.

    Hello!
Everytime I try to save out a PDF (Printable, not Interactive) and tick trim or bleed marks, Indesign just crashes.
I've uninstalled InDesign and Acrobat. Made sure I had no Preferences saved from CS6, then installed again, but the same keeps on happening.
I have a print deadlien Monday so I really need this to work.
It used to work fine in CS6.
    Can anybody help?

I recently had the same problem. I would try to publish and the program would lock up and crash.
I discovered it just to be a small bit of code I imputed wrong for an action. I had a comma instead of a quote before one of my commands.
Example... I had 'GoTo" instead of "GoTo"
I fixed the error and all worked fine!
But I wonder why such a small error would crash the program instead of flagging the error when I attempted to publish? That feature worked great in Flash!!
    Thanks,
    John O.

  • InDesign Cs5 keep crashing when open this file

    Hi guys,
I am back for another problem with my InDesign. It's been a while since my last problem...
Right now I'm facing a new problem and I hope you guys can fix this with me..
So the problem is that just on this file.. Everytime I try to open it, it just crash. But it is fine when I open other files. Yesterday it was fine when I export as PDF, and even package the file. This morning when I tried to open it, it just crash...
    The solutions I tried :
Troubleshooting 101: Export to .idml or .inx to clear file corruption
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/526991
(I cannot open the file because it says that the file is missing or in any other place..)
Troubleshooting 101: Replace, or "trash" your InDesign preferences
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2404821#2404821
    and none of that works.
I even tried save As.  Still not working..

    Please help?
    Thank you!
    Have a nice day!

    Hi Peter,
I was trying to export it as .idml and the program crash, so maybe it says file cannot be open because missing maybe because it wasn't finish to export and got crash. Maybe that is why I can't open it.
well the thing is that my work InDesign Cs5 is bootleg (boo! i know )
and i was once told not to update them. so i never update until now..
unless you have a thread where i can read the manual how to update bootleg?

  • InDesign CS6 keeps crashing when trying to export to PDF

I never had an issue with this before, but now my InDesign is crashing every time I try to export to a PDF. The document is 22 pages long. I updated an older version that I had no problem with exporting to a PDF. Now I can't even take the older InDesign doc and make into a PDF. It just keeps quitting every time I try to export it. What could have triggered this issue and how can I fix it?

  • Indesign CS5 keeps crashing when deleting pages

    Hi folks,
I'm working in CS5 Indesign on a long document (on a deadline) and trying to delete pages from the pages panel when it just crashes.
I am working on an Apple Macbook with OS 10.74 and my Indesign is updated to 7.0.4.
I have been using Indesign all week with no problems and then just an hour ago it starts to crash?
I don't get any blank warning boxes it just shuts down.
    Any ideas would greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!

I had this problem occur also in CS5. I could only insert one page at a time, if I tried to insert any more than that Indesign crashed.
The document I was working on had two separate Master Pages, Master-A (a 2 page spread) and Master-B (Single page). I found that by deleting the Master-B the problem was solved, I could insert as many pages as needed.
    Hope this helps.

  • Keynote Crashes When I Move Objects With Arrow Keys

    Subject explains it all.
This happens on both my 2.4GHZ Intel iMac and G4 powerbook.
Machines are running OS 10.5.2 and Keynote 2.0.2
I've bought both Leopard and Keynote and installed all the software from the CDs.
    Message was edited by: linus.spindrift

The advice I would take from the last post would be used only to isolate the issue as it might relate to a system wide issue or a user specific issue. In other words, can we determine Keynote's behavior as being related to your home account and those files in your folder or the System (OS) level files? Read on please…
If, after creating a new user account and logging into and Keynote continues to behave the same way, then potentially there is file outside your homefolder responsible for this. The file in question would, I'm sure you would agree, be a file related to Keynote's functionality and is accessed while Keynote is in use.
When Keynote is attempting to follow your instructions it may be accessing a file that it relies on.
A program which you can download to troubleshoot the issue is called appzapper, you can visit the developer's site here: http://appzapper.com/
My suggestion would be to download this little app. Install it>drag and drop Keynote onto AppZapper. AppZapper will do its' best to find files relevant to the Keynote application and give you an opportunity to trash them.
If you are curious as to the files AppZapper associates with Keynote, copy the name of those files and do a Google search to find out more about those files.
In most cases the list of files, AppZapper associates are harmless if trashed, just make sure Keynote is not open while doing this or Keynote may sort of ask itself what is going on and behave oddly, a quit and relaunch should fix that if you forget to quit Keynote.
Good target files that AppZapper might find are what are known as .plist files, plist as in PropertyList. .plist files typically store application preferences. So if you have ever gone to the preferences for Keynote in this case and modified the settings that .plist file would have stored those changes you set. If you move the .plist files to the trash, Keynote, upon a relaunch will say to itself, oh look, my .plist files are missing and simply regenerate those .plist files.
The point here is if the .plist files were corrupt and Keynote was accessing those file(s) it would try to read the file and say to itself, hey I don't know how to read this and in this case, shut itself down.
AppZapper may find more than just .plist files, investigate any files you feel hesitant to trash using your our old friend Google to learn about what it is you are going to trash.
In most cases what AppZapper finds is safe enough to trash, just be sure to close Keynote before running this to keep Keynote from running into any unexpected surprises. It would be like yanking candy from a child's hand - that wouldn't be too nice.
Finally if the issue persists, using DVD1 that came bundled with your mac, you should be able to install the bundled software only.
Reinstalling Keynote or iLife should also be considered as a solution.
An entire OS purchase or OS re-installation is definitely overkill and not an elegant solution, not to mention the downtime.
The solution I am proposing hopefully makes common sense to you and gives you an overview in terms of understanding that there are files other than the application file related to any application's overall function.
AppZapper is a small download and may help you locate that stubborn file causing you grief.
That being said, creating a new user account on your mac and logging into it to isolate issues as being system wide or user specific is indeed the way to go to isolate issues in those terms.
    Keep us posted.

  • InDesign CS5 keeps crashing when I try deleting master pages.

I am working on a CS4 template (converted to CS5) and each time I try deleting a master page, InDesign crashes. I have also tried the Adobe InDesign 7_0_3 Patch All update but it has not helped. Any tips?

That worked! Thanks for the tip

  • InDesign CS5 keeps crashing when trying to open (windows 7)

I have the master suite collection and have no issues with the other programs. I don't use InDesign as much as some of the other programs, but now I am trying to use it, and it will not open. The purple box comes up saying that it is initializing, then I get RunTime Error! Program: C... This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way. After reading a few posts on the forums I tried to update with the 7.0.4 patch, however, this has done nothing for me. I would reinstall but my Adobe account is no longer showing my download info for my purchase.

Are you sure you've logged in with the same ID? YOu might call customer service and see if they can find the order, too.
As far as fixing what's wrong, it does sound like a bad install. You could try running the installer again without uninstalling first, and it might recognize the existing serial number (select repair in the installer), but the odss of it actually working are about 50/50 at best, I think.
