Indesign CC Progress Bar Colour

Hi
This will probably seem like a trifling issue, and it probably is, but it does bug me a little..
Loving the new dark UI in Indesign CC, but when I open a document I end up doing a double take that I've used the right app...
The progress bar that comes up is a dark grey dialog with an 'Illustrator-Orange' bar, so even though I'm opening an INDD, I momentarily question if I opened it in Illustrator by mistake
As Illustrator is heavily themed with that colour, it would seem to me that interface elements InDesign should be a shade of purple to make it clear what app the dialog relates to - or at least white / grey.
Just a thought. Not a biggy, no one's dying because of it, but perhaps worth some consideration from a HCI standpoint...
Does this bug anyone else or is it just me?
K

All of the apps use shared code for the interface.
And no, it doesn't bother me.

  • Changing progress bar colour in AS3

    I've spent hours trawling through documentation and googling,
    but I can't find any way to change the progress bar colour from a
    script using AS3. In AS2, it was easy, I just used
    myprogbar.setStyle("themeColor", "0xff0000");
    but this no longer seems to work in AS3 and none of the
    styles in the ProgressBar class seems to relate to the bar colour.
    I need to be able to change the colour dynamically, so setting it
    permanently when I create the object is no good. This should be
    easy, am I missing something simple here ?

    All of the apps use shared code for the interface.

  • InDesign CS5 v7.0.4 won't make a package - hangs at very end of progress bar.

    Using InDesign CS5 v7.0.4 trying to simply make a package. The progress bar (moving very slowly) hangs at the last percentage and doesn't complete the process.
    Any ideas of how to fix this??

    Every file or one particular file?
    If one particular file, try exporting it as IDML and reopen in InDesign. If all files, try restoring your preferences.

  • MacBook Pro frozen on startup screen with progress bar and then it turns off

    Hello, I have a MacBook Pro 15" of early 2012 with a i5 Intel, 4GB of RAM  and a  500 GB HD.
    I was installing the new suit of Adobe, when suddenly my Mac got frozen, vertical coloured lines appeared and the image on screen went distorted. I had to reboot the Mac by holding the power button until the screen turned off and when I turned it on, the lines appeared again and it itself automatically rebooted. Then the screen (now with no vertical lines) got frozen on the startup grey screen with the apple logo and the spinning wheel for hours with no response.
    I tried to follow the steps of the official mac forums like verifying the HD with CMD+R and then Disk Utility, it says everything's fine; the same happens with CMD+S, no errors. I reinstalled Mavericks with the same CMD+R. I already reset the PRAM, SMC  and performed a Safe Boot staring up in Single user mode and Verbose Mode and nothing, the same startup screen. I made too thins thing of holding shift until the progress bar appeared.  Three days later (Today) I repeated the steps again and finally the verbose mode. Now, when I turn it on, the startup screen appears again (Apple Log and spinning wheel) with a progress bar. When it completes, the Mac turn itself off.
    if you can help me, please. I don't know what else to do. The last thing is technical service.

  • A Progress Bar for my large catalog

    I have a large catalog that I am putting on the web and I want people who have a slow connection to know that the file is still loading. Is there a way to add a progress bar to my file in Indesign CS5 or must I bring it into flash to optain this feature?
    Thanks in advance

    How is your file itself going to show a progres bar if it isn't loaded yet?  Seems to me it would have to load before it could do anything like that.
    Have you tried experimenting with different browsers and OS's to see what happens?  With Firefox 4 on Windows XP here I don't get a progress bar but I do get a little spinning graphic when I try to load a large PDF like this one here:

  • Progress Bar in Report

    Hey Everyone,
    I have implemented a Progress Bar in a column in a report based on Denes Kubiceks example,
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:183:6301951045064123::NO
    The issue im having is depending on which browser i use i get slightly different out put on the progress bar, small but anoying.
    In Firefox if the bar is at 100% it is all one colour, as it should be. However when i use IE if the bar is at 100% there is still a hint of red at the end of the progress bar, as if it is on 99%.
    What i need to know is, is this simply a browser issue? or is there somthing i could do about it?
    Thanks in Advance,
    -N.S.N.O.

    Hello,
    to me it looks like a browser issue. Apparently the IE cannot render an image with width="0" and therefor always renders it with width="1". Opera does the same.
    You could try using a background color instead for the table cell and just the green image instead of two images side by side.

  • [CS4] "Progress bar" relative to the actual page number

    Hi!
    First of all thanks to the community. It's being really helpful with my start on inDesign scripting!
    I'm trying to insert a kind of progress bar on each page showing the percentage of the pages you have already read. Something like this sketch:
    I think I can start with this script (by [Jongware]-GfBROo) that will set the size of the dark shape, but I don't know how to do it relative to the current page number... Any tip or link to some post I can adapt?
    //DESCRIPTION:Change all Swatch Objects size to a predefined value
    change_width = 10;
    change_height = 20;
    for (a=0; a<app.activeDocument.allPageItems.length; a++)
    if (app.activeDocument.allPageItems[a].appliedObjectStyle.name == "swatch")
      gb = app.activeDocument.allPageItems[a].geometricBounds;
      app.activeDocument.allPageItems[a].geometricBounds = [gb[0], gb[1], gb[0]+change_height, gb[1]+change_width];
    Thank you so much!

    Problem solved!
    (thanks to andrewman from Domestika forums)
    Here is the script for my specifc requirements:
    * Progress bar
    * javascript (.jsx)
    // Change according to the document
    width_bar = 20;
    style_name = "current_progress";
    num_pags = app.activeDocument.pages.length;
    increase = width_bar/num_pags;
    for( i=0; i < num_pags; i++ ) {
    pg = app.activeDocument.pages.item(i);
    for( j=0; j < pg.allPageItems.length; j++ ) {
    pgi = pg.allPageItems[j];
    if( pgi.appliedObjectStyle.name == style_name ) {
    dim = pgi.geometricBounds;
    progress = Math.round( (( dim[1] + increase ) + ( i * increase )) * 100 ) / 100;
    pgi.geometricBounds = [ dim[0], dim[1], dim[2], progress ];
    alert('Done!');
    THINGS TO CHANGE: width of the bar (will be the length in the last page) and the style name you are going to use.
    Just need to create the bar on the master page, give it the style,  select all the pages and click "Override all Master Page Items". Run the script!
    If you add new pages, only need to override them and run the script again

  • Finally! A progress bar for AppleScripters!

    Progress bars are something that my scripts have lacked as I mainly program in AppleScript. I had resorted to using an outside app as a progress bar in my scripts...
    But no more!! I have borrowed Marc Autret's Javascript progress bar code from this post and made it into some handy handlers. I hope this helps other people too.
    Here they are in an example AppleScript.
    on myProgressBarCreate(pbBarName, firstAction, pbMax)
      set pbJS to "#targetengine 'pbar'
    var ProgressBar = function(/*str*/title)
         var w = new Window('palette', ' '+title, {x:0, y:0, width:340, height:60}),
              pb = w.add('progressbar', {x:20, y:12, width:300, height:12}, 0, 100),
              st = w.add('statictext', {x:10, y:36, width:320, height:20}, '');

  • Progress bar do not show progress

    Hi there,
    I have created one dialog with button and progress bar. When I click on button, I have functionality which is getting called through which I make some changes in  currently open Indesign document like drawing some graphic frames, placing images on them. I want to update progress bar present on dialog when frames are getting drawn. But the dialog box freezes when the document changes taking place. How to update progress bar?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello vDeepak,
    it is not possible to have a progress bar working with dialogs. You can use palettes and windows but not dialogs. If you like to better understand how progress bars work, this is a very good resource:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3152162#3152162
    It's a discussion based on javascript, but it would make sense.

  • FM10 Progress-bar indicator shows no progress

    I'm using FM10 (v10.0.2.419) on Windows 7 OS.
    When I print to postscript, the pink ribbon that used to show the progess does not display any longer,
    and the percentages indicator remains at 0%.
    Any ideas? My colleague right next to me is using the same SW and HW and does not have this problem.
    Thanks in advance for any ideas....

    Do you see the page numbers increasing below the progress bar (thermometer in FM's parlance)? Does the job "print" to completion? What device are you printing to?
    You could check your maker.ini file to see if the colour definition has been changed to be a background grey. The default setting should be:
    [Thermometers]
    ;-------------------- Thermometer Color Definitions -----------------------
    ThermoDoneColor=255, 0, 255
    ThermoRemainingColor=192, 192, 192
    There are two versions of the maker.ini file. The global one in the %FMhome% folder and the user-specific one in the \Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\11 folder.

  • Horizontal progress bar with interpolate color

    Looking for a control "horizontal progress bar" with interpolate color and markers like control "meter"

    If I get this right - you are looking for a progress bar that changes colour as the number changes. You can set the colour of the progress bar using property nodes. I have included a VI here that I used for testing this. This VI changes the colour from green to red as the progress bar advances. Colours are stored as 3 bytes: Red, Green and Blue.
    I hope that this helps.

  • Progress Bar Color

    Hi there,
    my system is:
    Win7 Pro, v. 6.1 (build 7601, SP1), Adobe CS6
    I've changed the color of standard Windows Progress Bar from that ridiculous spring-green to dark blue.
    Photoshop for its progress bar obviously uses same (OS) resource:
    but not the Illustrator:
    well, I can live with this... at least orange on black looks pretty.
    sadly, in InDesign... it looks just ugly:
    oh, English is not my native, maybe I miss some subtle meaning of words 'homogenity' and 'consistency'. Is this really 'Suite'? Could this mess be called 'Creative'?
    sorry, just emotions.
    My real question is:
    maybe someone here has an idea where InDesign resources for Progress Bar are hidden? Bitmap(s) in some dll file, I guess?
    Thank You!

    Peter Spier wrote:
    So, are you saying it's not true because Adobe COULD HAVE used the OS dialogs, or because, even though they made their own GUI they just chose not to allow it?
    A mix, and possibly possibly both
    1. Illustrator and Photoshop have used "native" dialogs for years and years on end. With InDesign (I think), Adobe chose to implement their own GUI.
    2. As a programmer, you don't have to 'replace' the entire native GUI. You can use standard components (which will adhere to user settings) and add as much custom components as you like. With a custom component, the amount of user settings support depends on how much time you put into writing it -- i.e., either always draw your own layer menu background, or first ask the system what color it should be. Adobe chose to create one from scratch ...
    3. ... so even familiar interface components such as a dropdown list behave subtly different from what one is used to. And even different in parts of the same program (to wit, aforementioned Flash components inside InDesign).
    4. And, contrary to what one would think, then there are differences in this custom UI among the suite programs!
    I'm behind ID CS4 on Windows 7 at the moment so I can't vouch the same holds for CS6 (Latest Update) on a Mac (Latest System Update) -- but a few of my personal interface related gripes are:
    * inconsistent behavior of the Tab key inside dialogs (and it's even *worse* on a Mac, despite having set the appropriate system setting to allow tabbing around inside dialogs)
    * the Alt key makes the Menu bar sticky to all keys, and only frantic and repeatedly hitting Escape will release it from its vice-like hold.
    * the behavior of the Find/Change 'dialog' is totally inconsistent and irrational. Sometimes it goes into a sort of 'undefined mode', and no key press has any effect at all until I use the mouse to click it out of this mode.
    * at times, the Pages panel scroll bar refuses to update; it tells me 'nothing to see down there' but I'm sure it ought to show several hundreds of pages more ... (after some shaking the panel around, and moving about in the document it usually submits).
    And for what it's worth I could care less about the dark interface, too.
    My guess this is a deliberate macguffin.

    Help needed please, everytime I try to update the software version on my iphone it comes up with a message saying it could not be completed and is now frozen with the apple picture and progress bar on it. Do I unplug it and hope the macbook pro sees it again, I also stupidly did not back up before starting the download which I realise I will have to go back to the previous back up. This keeps happening, everytime I do this type of update, I'm starting to think I should just give up on updating my software on the Iphone. I thought it was happening because I was using a window based computer to do the updates, this time I used my Macbook Pro. Please somebody help

  • Problem installating Snow Leopard on old Macbook Pro with Intel Core 2 Duo. After creating partition on internal hard disk (Extended Journaled), installation starts but stops at half of the progress bar. Screen asking Restart appears.

    Hello:
    I have tried installing Snow Leopard via the installation disc on a Macbook Pro (2007) with an Intel Core 2 Duo, but I the installation has failed more than 5 times.
    I have first formatted and partitioned the internal hard disk with Mac Os Extended Journal format.
    Once the installation starts, it starts without a problem unti lthe progress bar gest until half completed then a screen asking for a Computer Restart shows up.
    It asks to press the power button for some time until it the computer shuts down and then, press again to turn it on.
    Once turned on, the installation disc gets readed, the installation screen appears again and asks again to start the whole installation process form the beginning.

    Then you have a Hardware Problem.
    Your system is Crashing part way through the install and Re-Booting because of the crash.
    Could be the drive itself or it could be some other hardware part in your system. Like the RAM.
    To check if it is the internal drive connect an External drive to the system by USB and do the install on that external. If the install completes then it more then likely the drive is bad. If it crashes again then it is more then likely some other piece of hardware in your system.
