Indesign CC - tooltip on guides and drawing tools not working

I just updated CC this morning - but the tooltip when you pull guides down or when you draw a new shape (the dimensions etc) do no longer show.
I know you can still see this in the toolbar - but it was really handy seeing near where your cursor was aswell.
Do I need to tick something in prefrences or has this fallen foul of the latest update and will need to be fixed in a future patch?
Hope some else is having the issue and just not me!

thanks Steve - that is currently ticked already and seems to not be having an affect.
It must be a bug in the latest update as a collegue who sits next to me who hasnt run the update still gets the tool tip.

InDesign CS5.5 - locked objects and align tools not working together

In earlier versions of InDesign I used the Align palette, spacing 0 mm, and "dragged in" other objects to perfect fit to the center object. InDesign drags in objects from the right this way. So if I needed to drag in objects from the left side I locked the center object first and InDesign understood what I wanted to do.
In CS5 and 5.5 this is not possible anymore. If I lock an object it is not selectable. But there is a preference setting for this so I change it. Now I can select the locked object. But when I try to align it with another object there is an error message saying I can't move this object because it i locked. Well... I am not trying to move it hence the lock I applied...
I don't understand this changed behaviour. If a locked object is out of play I might as well use the layer palette and lock objects that way.
Could someone please shed some light on this?

Apparently the distribute spacing command only uses the top object as a reference. I would say that's a bug.

Burn and Dodge tools not working on b/w sketch scan

Hi, I may have somehow eliminated information in an image of a black and white sketch which prevents the dodge and burn tools from working...is there a common mistake which prevents these tools from working as they normally should on a black and white image with multiple shades? (The sketch is not pure black and pure white but has multiple gray shades...it "looks" like an image on which these tools should work.)
When adjusting Levels for the image all of its "information" seems to be clustered around the "0" point on the far left of the Levels adjustment slider, if that helps in understanding this problem....
Did I mistakenly somewhere along the line destroy information in this image necessary for these tools to work?

It is working properly. With a partially transparent layered image, only **some** of the visible tone is coming from the image layer. The rest is coming from whatever is showing on the layer underneath. Burn and dodge will only affect the layer you're working on. As I said, I could get get B&D to affect it a little ... and that's is exactly what it should do in this case. Because the pixels are partially transparent, B&D is only going to **partially** affect the visible tone. It's altering the pixels on the image layer, just not very much because there aren't very many pixels available.
Peel off white does an incredible job. However, I would use it only once. The fact that the sketch becomes a bit transparent tells you it's removing image information.

Selection and Type Tools not working in InDesign CC for Mac

I have just recently downloaded InDesign CC (I use Mac OSX.9.2) and got the World Tools plugin to typeset in different languages.
However, I am having trouble using the selection and type tools. In about the first half of the file, the type tool displays the pointer/dashed box/I-beam icon and doesn't put the cursor in the text when I click on it. I can't click to select text as I should be able to, and if I try to click and drag, all I do is end up creating another text frame. But in about the second half of the file, the selection and type tools work the way they should.
When I click and hold on the type tool, the cursor changes to the crosshairs icon for creating text frames and the "W: H: " dialogue box for text frames appears.
How can I get the tools to work properly in the entire document? Is anyone else having this problem?

@Cindy – usually all 3rd party developers will provide some information for installing and uninstalling their products. First see if you can find some information on their web sites.
Also there should be a dedicated Adobe Extension Manager app where you can look up the installed parts of InDesign. Since I do not have InDesign CC installed, I do not know exactly, but its name should be something like "Adobe Extension Manager CC".
If you start this app it will show all parts installed with InDesign (or other apps that are installed).
Usually at the bottom of the list are the 3rd party installed components. They do not state "Adobe Incoroprate System" as author. Never uninstall (remove) the Adobe ones!

If you select one, a new option is available at the right. In my case here the "Entfernen" button ("Remove" in English).

Live Paint and other tools not working?

Hello,
Most of the time while using Illustrator almost all my tools except for the pen tool do not work, as in the mouse icon turns into this circle with a line through it, and doesn't allow me to do anything on my layer, and it's just one layer nothing else. Why does this happen? I have a drawing that I image traced on illustrator, and would like to paint it now, but I can't use the live paint option. Sometimes the select tool doesn't select anything and it just disappears!
Can anyone help me with this?

I'm a complete beginner to illustrator and I thought it was just another small thing that beginners are not familiar with and that other people can relate? Anyway, I use Illustrator CC on a Mac. Here is a capture I made trying to use the brush tool:
The cursor of the mouse doesn't show, but it is like I said, a circle with a line across. This is where the live paint doesn't work as well:

Brush and Pencil tool not working in Photoshop CS5 trial

I dowloaded the Photoshop CS5 trial yesterday 2 days ago. Everything worked perfectly yesterday. Unfortunately, today...the brush and pencil tool doesn't work. Anyone have any idea why?

Have downloaded CC photoshop and brush tool not working

Hi, I have downloaded PS and the brush tool does not work. I downloaded PS last week and set up a watermark to use on my photos using the define brush preset. It wouldnt work,so i googled a heap of things to try and nothing worked.I made sure opacity was 100% and also that i was on a layer and nothing worked, I have just uninstalled and reinstalled and went to a new PSD and the brush still doesnt work.Please help, it is really frustrating. You have the History Brush selected. Normal brush is two icons up the tool bar.

PS CS5 - rounded rectangle and move tool not working..?

I have just noticed that my rounded rectangle tool is not working properly. When I click and drag nothing is visible, when I release it floods my whole image with my selected color. I have tried all of the other tools and they work properly. I have tried restarting, compared settings with other tools, and checked for updates. Nothing is working and any help would be appreciated.
Also, I have what appears to be a common problem with my move tool. I click, drag, and drop only to have the selected image snap back to its original position. I have an intuos 5 connected, is this the culprit?

I can't help with the snap to edge problem, but if you select your rounded rectangle shape tool, and click on the Cog in the Options bar, I suspect you have a fixed size set, and that it is bigger than your canvas.

Straightening and Crop tool not working. What to do?

I've been working with photos all morning, and now neither my Straightening Tool or Crop Tool are working. What to do?

Close and re-launch Aperture. Let us know if that doesn't take care of it.
I try to close Aperture once an hour. It pushes my hardware (and, likely, OS) to several of its limits. Re-launching the program rinses out any crud that has accumulated (that's not _exactly_ technically correct, but ... ).

Paint and drawing does not work

I just installed photoshop elements 13 and after a bit of tinkering it seemed to want to crash, but then was fine. since then i have closed and reopened the program several times, but drawing or painting does not work at all. has anyone had or solved this problem?????

Lift and Stamp tool not working so well? White images!?

Here's a strange issue.
I worked on an image yesterday. Today, I want to copy the adjustments to another image in the same project. When I use the Lift and Stamp tool to copy the adjustments, the new image turns completely white. Even though I checked the adjustments and they look the same as the original one, the new image is all white.
Now the strange thing is when I adjusted another image today then used the Lift and Stamp tool, the adjustments copied over fine.
The only thing I can see which is different from the image I adjusted yesterday is that I had Aperture send that image to CS4 and I edited a TIFF which I stacked back with the original file.
I'll try to make a screencast available so you can see what's going on.
Looks like Apple's going to need to update Aperture 3 before it really comes out.

Thanks for your effort. I am stunned. Would be edifying to know what is happening! I thought it might be okay as I sometimes turn my image black after applying some change, but the black is only a temporary display problem as the image is correct the next time I go to use it; perhaps in my situation Aperture was busy generating new previews for presentation of the changes. Your white is certainly a different issue. Glad it's only an isolated incident and not happening for you on the other images.

The map guide and navigation will not work again

i had guides and navigation for a couple of months now, but after upgrading the phone's software it's not even there, i try to enter the license keys it says code not valid. That's a big disappointment, and the problem is i have emails for all my phone purchases! when i enter the license keys it says license keys not valid, can somebody tell me what can i do??!!

I have done this on several occassions. This works for 1 time then it stops. It "connects" allows me to set it up and then flashes amber. It did backup 1 time today, but now it says it is delayed and there is no back up. It worked fine until I updated the software and tried to extend my network. After this, it will NOT work at all, for any length of time. i just reset it, and was able to set it up, but it gave me an error message, is flashing amber and is not being recognized. Very frustrating.

Guide and dvr suddenly not working

The last few days the guide and dvr haven't been displaying. Pushing either guide or dvr will only make the current channel display in the upper right corner and the rest of the screen is black. Any idea how to fix this?

Temporary Hand and Zoom tools not working occasionally in InDesign, PS and Illustrator

I have a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.8.5 and I'm using my Creative Cloud subscription of version CS6 for InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. I periodically "lose" the ability to use the modifier key shortcuts ("Hand" and "Zoom") and so far the only solution I've found is to restart my machine, which is time consuming and disruptive to my workflow. I would appreciate it if anyone could give me some advice/guidance to resolve this issue. Thanks.

Even though I've been using the modifier keys for ages with the Adobe products, this issue has only been happening for about 4-6 months, and the past 1 month mulitiple times a day now. So I sure hope your suggestion does the trick from now on.
