InDesign CC versions on PC versus Mac

Hi,
I am using InDesign CC on a PC, Windows 7 64-bit. The software is up to date.
I tried to open an InDesign CC document created on a Mac and could not. InDesign told me the document was created with a newer version of InDesign.
How can this be?
If there are more recent versions created for Mac than PC, it ruins the whole point of being on Creative Cloud. What am I paying all this money every month for?
This has cost me time and the company I am currently working for money.

I haven't got time right now but will carry out process as you describe - I think you've probably identified the issue. Which is great as it looks like I can resolve it - my fear was that Adobe introduced PC / Mac incompatibility nightmare! Glad it's not the case..

...but from what I have read general practice is to charge extra for native files as you are giving over usage rights of the artwork.
Not a lawyer, just been around the block before. It all sort of depends on the client and understandings on both your parts, whether in writing or not. What is their expectation while they were paying you? What was your expectation during the same period? In lieu of an agreement, I think the courts would side on the client's rights.
But regardless, I generally do what Peter wrote unless there is an agreement in writing stating otherwise. One of the reasons why I happily turn over client work is because sometimes the new-hire or new contractor simply doesn't work out and I am often called back into the mix. It's goodwill.

I believe there are a couple of similar threads about CC or CC2014 behaving this way that might give yo some hints, but CS5 is not supported on your OS and may not run properly regardless of what you do. An in-place OS upgrade or an attempt to migrate the application would both be major problems for ID, so if you did either of those things you'll want to uninstall, run the cleaner tool (CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3) and reinstall.

InDesign CS4 version 6.0.6. and Mac OS 10.6.8

iMac 24 inch, OS 10.6.8, InDesign CS4 version 6.0.6. Since upgrading to 10.6.8, I can no longer print double sided. The problem does not exist with any other software I have Adobe or not. I have a HP LaserJet 2300dn printer with the most current driver installed connected to ethernet. The printer acts as if it is printing a double sided page, but what should be one page comes out as two pages.
Is there a solution to the problem?

Please try the following steps:
Windows:
Please go to C:\Users\(your own user)\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE and rename opm.db file.
MAC:
/Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE and rename opm.db
Once you do that then it should ask you to sign in using a different e-mail address.

I was using InDesign CS5 on my Mac Book Pro 17 and then purchased a new MacPro. I Transferred everything to my new laptop and every thing works except for InDesign and my Microsoft applications such as word, and Excell.

Is there a help searchbar in CS6 Indesign (Windows version)?

i like to know if there is a "help searchbar" available for indesign (windows version).
i know that there is one in the mac version, but i can't see one in the windows version?

instead of showing the location of a certain something i'm looking for like in the mac version.
it opens my web browser to the adobe website and does a google search kinda thing.
i want it like the mac version, to search for something like e.g. pathfinder and it directing/showing me where i can find it without opening the browser.

I would like to download the trial version of InDesign onto my 10.8.6 Mac. When I try to do this, adobe.com does not open the file, and instead tells me that my OSX does not meet the system requirements. Is this true? Thank you.

If you ask a question, you have to tell always which version you want to use. The answer depends on the version.
In you case it depends additionally on the licence program you are using. EDU is different then others.

Hi, Ich wollte mir die Indesign Trial Version runterladen. Nach Klick auf 'Testversion' muss man ja wohl etwas installieren, das sich Adobe Creative Cloud nennt. Getan. Auf Desktop liegt auch eine Verknuepfung mit diesem Namen, aber bei Doppelklick hierauf oeffnet sich ganz kurz ein schwarzes Fenster, das sich sofort wieder schliesst. mehr passiert nicht. Hat jemand eine Ahnung was es damit auf sich hat und wie ich nun an die Trial Version Indesign gelange? Danke fuer Rueckmeldungen.

danke fuer die Antwort. Nicht sicher, was OS heissen soll, denke mal, Betriebssystem. Das ist windows 7, laptop, deutsche version, programm sollte indesign sein (siehe erster post).
So, habe jetzt die Indesign App meines Wissens heruntergeladen, dann sollte man wohl die Cloud aufrufen, es funktioniert aber trotzdem nichts.
Puh, muss sagen, das ist ganz schoen benutzerundfreundlich und zeitfressend. man wird einfach ueberhaupt nicht informiert, welche schritte man wie genau machen muss. alles guesswork und dann passiert nichts. warum nicht? woanders klappt es doch auch. da vergeht einem wirklich die lust, das programm zu nutzen. da vergehen tage mit ausprobieren und man ist sich nichtmal sicher, ob man es denn irgendwann heruntergeladen bekommt.
was meisnt du 'aus der anwendung (welche anwendung?) heraus auf test klicken und Programm runterladen'?
