Indesign CC view error when opening file

When opening a file in Indesign CC, occasionally the application with all the tools are visible – but no page to be seen. The “save as” command is however active. When trying to close the application, the error message appears that there is an Indesign-error.
When reopening Indesign, the application loads as usual and the missing file from the previous attempt now shows automatically. Does not make sense or...

Probably won't help, but see Replace Your Preferences.
Also i fyou've set your system display to Large Fonts it can casue all sorts of strange trouble in ID. See InDesign tools and panels don't respond to mouse clicks (Windows 7/Vista)

Yep, I just uninstalled Adobe Reader 7.0 and installed version 6.0.1. The links now work perfectly, so evidently this is a problem with Adobe Reader 7.0. You can reach the PDF-Files also by using Help>>Search the LabVIEW Bookshelf. Does this link work for you?

Other reasons:
The Active-X control of Reader 7 has a bug.
Your Internet security settings will not allow this operation. The Active-X will be loaded but will have no access to the file and yo get a wrong error message.
Fair enough. If that is indeed the case, which Internet security setting should I try changing? I haven't done anything unusual to any of those settings. And where is pdf.js located? I tried searching for it but could not find it.
Your advice is greatly apreciated.

Smart View error when opening Powerpoint files read-only

Users are experiencing the following error when they open a Powerpoint file as read only. Using MS Office 2007 with Hyperion 11.1.2.1 Doesn't happen in edit mode. Error reappears every time user pages down to next slide. Quite annoying!
Shape. Tags : Invalid request. Presentations cannot be modified.
Has anyone experienced this issue and resolved it?

Symptoms
In Smart View Version 11.1.2.1.000, when attempting to open a PowerPoint document that is already open by other user the following error occurs:
ERROR : Shape.Tags: Invalid Request. Presentation cannot be modified.
Cause
This issue has been verified as Unpublished Bug 12418027: SMART VIEW ERROR : SHAPE.TAGS : INVALID REQUEST. PRESENTATION CANNOT BE MODIFIED
The cause of the problem is that when a presentation is edited by another user, an exception will be thrown while trying to query the tags in the presentation from a different process.
Solution
This issue has been fixed in the Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office, Release 11.1.2.0.000 Patch Set 1 (PS1): 11.1.2.1.102 Release.
This patch is available via My Oracle Support:
1. Log into the My Oracle Support portal.
2. Choose the Patches & Updates tab.
3. Enter the Patch Name or Number from the drop-down box.
4. Perform a search for Patch:12968304 for your corresponding OS platform.
5. The patch file includes both installers and the readme.

Error when opening files on fileserver

I can't open files in CS5 from our fileserver. CS3 and CS4 can open files fine, but I get a message: "cannot open the document . . . You may not have permission or the document may be open already."
If I try opening a file on the fileserver in CS5, I get the message. When I open the exact same file, copied to a local disk, it opens fine.
I'm on Windows 7, ID 7.0.2, the server is MacOsX SnowLeopard Server with system all up to date.
Any help would be much appreciated . . .

The case was that the Sever was mapped as a fileserver, but after mapping it with drive letter it works fine...

Error when opening files

When I open a ditamap and then open one of the files within the ditamap, the file takes several minutes to open (literally). The Frame console shows why -- it's generating dozens of error messages such as the partial list below.
The files in the error message are all present, so I have no idea why Frame can't find/open them.
Some of the file listed in the message are not referenced by any file in the current ditamap, so I don't know why it's even trying to open them.
There are conrefs to some of the files listed in the message. Once the file has finally opened, these are fine. The conrefs to the files that Frame is "unable to open" are all resolved correctly.
Any clues??

When I do this, the xref does not properly resolve, and it *does* add significant time to the time it takes to open the referencing file .. but I'm not getting any errors written to the console for this .. strange.

500 internal server error when opening file attachment

Hi all,
I dont know whether im placing my query in the right place. if not pls advice.
I have uploaded documents to content management from EP portal. The name of the attachment is stored in SAP custom table and the physical file is stored in EP->content management. When i go content mangement and click the attachment, im able to download the file in most cases. But for one employee, when i go content admin -> i can see the attached file name. when i try to open the attachment i am getting error message "500 Internal server error. Please contact your content admin".
Any help will be appreciated.

Nope. The problem occurs with the admin user. HE is able to download attachments, but when he click one attachment he is getting "500 internal server error contact sys admin"

Muse Encounters "Invalid persistOwner" error when opening file

I've been working on my website for over a year and recently it would give me an "encountered an error and will now exit." when I tried to save. However, Muse would allow me to open the recovered file and I could pick up where I left off and could even upload to Business Catalyst. After I recently updated to Muse 2014.3, I can't even recover the file anymore and receive the following message:

Please send us the .muse file at [email protected] along with a link to this thread so we can investigate, repair and return your file. (We may also need the Recovery folder that's within the Muse preferences folder structure.) If the file is larger than 20Mb you can use a service like Adobe SendNow, Dropbox, WeTransfer, etc. (If you use a service, please include your return e-mail address in the body of the message, since not all services include it in the sharing invite they send.) Error when opening files using SMB server

I’m trying to download files using a Windows SMB server, but it does not work properly. I'm using a VPN connection to access the server. I already added smb protocol in my system preferences (using 'more internet'), but when I’m trying to open a file, the following error message (code 36) appears:
The Finder cannot complete the operation because some of the data in smb://........ could not be read or written.
The Console gives the following error message:
mount_smbfs: can't get server address `……:
Unknown host
mount_smbfs: can't get server address: syserr = Network is down
Does anyone know how to solve thed error? Thanx in advance!

Indesign CS5.5 crashing when opening files even idml

I've been working with files created by another user. I have exported to idml file then saved as indd. It still is crashing. I've installed the lastest updates and according the crash report http://pastebin.com/5SVUfNsU it's saying something about plugins... unfortunately I have now idea about plugins. I've tried to reset preferences and can't find any folders mentioned from another report (common crash issues)
It has also crashed when tryin to export either idml or indd files to pdf.
I'm not an "avid" used of indesign. I'm just learning so I really need some guidance.

Not necessarily. Font TYPE should not be an issue, but corrupt or badly made fonts can be a problem.
The optical kerning may be paer of a style definition, or it could be applied locally. For a style, you can edit the style to change the kerning method (or, if it's a character style that does nothing more than set optical kerning, remove the style). If it's applied locally you can use Find/Change to remove it. In the GREP tab search for .+ and open the Find Formatting dialog. Under Basic Character Formats set the kerning dropdown to Optical. Leave the change field blank, but open the Change Formatting dialog and in the same dropdown set the kerning to metrics.
Optical kerning is meant primarily for use with glyph pairs form diffent fonts or font styles to try to make them look better spaced. It really isn't a substitute for the built-in kerning in a font.

Error when opening file

I created a document in Illustrator on Friday and when I attempted to open it later to edit it more I continue to get this error:
Can't open the illustration. The illustration contains an illegal or misplace operator.

One thing often tried first is to create a new document and File>Place the corrupted one to see how much may be rescued that way.

Error when opening files in KM Navigation Iview / Web-Dynpro

Hello,
i've created a navigation iview to browse through my km server, and also created a web dynpro application which allows me to do the same thing.
I can browse through folders without any probles, but when I try to open a file, I get a java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError (in both KM-Iview and webdynpro application), which im currently unable to figure out what can be causing it.
Does anyone have any ideas on what can be causing such a problem?

Hi,
concerning the hint to use "sapjarfinder.com" - this is really the wrong way to go. If you need the class for build-time issues, you'll need a copy of the JAR locally (through a locally deployed server or just as a copy of the JARs from some server in your company). And having these at hand, one definitely should use ClassLocator, as this directly extends the .classpath file.

Why do I keep getting low memory errors when opening files in Bridge CS4? (New computer running i7 2.40GHz, 12GB RAM)

Just picked up a new computer which has a lot more RAM than my old computer bu I keep getting low memory errors. Never had this issue on my old computer, any ideas?

Windows or Mac? (If the former, I can't be of any help.) Exact version of your OS?
How much available disk space? Do you have a separate hard drive for Photoshop's scratch file?

Error in Cs3 extended when opening files.

when I open a file i get the error
ADOBE Photoshop CS3 Extended:Photoshop.exe - teopassingsfout ( dutch for application error)
The pc is member of a domain. I installed the legal software on users account with administrative privileges.
Start the program without error untill opening a file.
Does anyone has a solution for that please?

Do you get an error when opening files from Bridge into Photoshop?
Does the same happen when you open Raw files with Camera Raw?
