Try two things: (1) Click on the Workspace menu (you screen shot shows it is set on Essentials) and choose Reset Essentials. If that doesn't work, try (2) restoring your InDesign preferences. Here's how:

One way to to put the videos into an iDVD slideshow
and set iDVD's Slideshow preferences to always scale slides to TV Safe Area.
However, some users have reported that the audio quality using this method is lessened. I've not noticed it but then I don't have a good ear when it comes to that sort of thing. If you add more than one video in the same slideshow do not select any transition.

Try the following:
In Finder, select the problematic volume and then press command-I.
Expand the Sharing & permissions section if it's collapsed.
If the section is locked, then unlock it by pressing the padlock button and then authenticating as directed.
Tick/check Ignore ownership on this volume.

Download RecBoot and see if that will kick it out of recovery mode.

I've tried both. First, I tried on my pc, where iTunes had installed iCloud when it last updated. I have iTunes installed on this computer (and on my iPad and iPhone), but that wasn't the issue.
So I went online, thinking I needed a separate iCloud Apple ID, but it prompted me for my current Apple ID and gave me the message about my ID being "valid" but not an iCloud account," which, lol, was what it had asked me to do in order to create one. Given the state your device is in you have already erased your old stuff. You have an image on the screen that says, "Connect to iTunes." That's what the image means. So you will need iTunes on your computer.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another install. Does it go through this time?

Download AA 9 Pro from http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html. Make a new backup for your archive. You might also take the DVD to your library to see if it is a drive problem. You might also carefully clean the DVD with water and soap (do not use anything that would scratch the surface or you have destroyed it for sure) and see if that solves the problem. This is particularly an issue if you have finger prints or other crud on the DVD. However, it could also be a bad drive as I mentioned. Hopefully the download solves your problem in any case (I would backup the download to CD and/or backup HD).
