InDesign crashes when loading master pages

Having a problem loading Master pages, document is saved from CS3 to CS5 then when I try to load master pages from a different CS3 document InDesign crashes any ideas?

Does it work any better if you save the other doc as a CS5 file (use a new name -- don't overwrite CS3 files becasue you can't go back easily) before loading the pages?
It often helps to export the CS3 file to .inx, then open that in CS5 instead of the .indd.

  • Frequent crashes when editing master pages in FM 11

I've been creating new templates in FM 11.0.1.382, and am getting a lot of crashes when editing master pages. Like after every few edits, FM crashes either when I make an edit or save the file. Usually, it's the "FrameMaker 11 has stopped working" crash. Browsing the web I see that others are having this trouble too, and some have sent Adobe information about their crashes.
Just wondering if there's any way to fix this at my end. I'm on Windows 7.
    Thanks,
    Tami

A couple things to check. First, your patches aren't up to date -- current
rev is .384 I think, so you may want to roll that latest patch on board.
And second, it's possible there's a network permissions issue. I'd suggest
copying the template files locally and making sure that you own the files
    with full permissions.
FM often crashes when it encounters an unusual network or permissions
problem where it doesn't know what to do, and from the symptoms you're
reporting, I think that may be a factor -- just a WAG.
    Cheers,

Firefox crashes when loading certain pages. Often pages with video content

The crash reports indicates the crashes may be caused by a file named mcbrwctl.dll, that file is part of McAfee Site Advisor. Try disabling the McAfee Site Advisor to see if that stops the crashes.
To do that, in the Tools menu select Add-ons to open the add-ons manager. Select the Extensions panel, then in the list of extensions select McAfee Site Advisor then click on the Disable button. Re-start Firefox to complete the process.
For info McAfee Site Advisor has caused various problems with Firefox for quite a few people.

  • Firefox crashes when loading local pages (localhost)

Firefox crashes when I load local pages. This includes pages served by my apache server / localhost (WAMP). It also hangs when I load pages from complete websites that I have downloaded.
I was running Firefox 6 and upgraded to Firefox 7 before I discovered what the cause of the problem was. Downgraded to Firefox 4 and still had the same problem. Does anybody know how to fix this, developing with Chrome is driving me mad!!!???

Hello Xircal, thank you very much for replying.
I have tried to perform a standard diagnostic. Everything seems to run fine in Safe mode. Disabling Hardware accleration makes no difference. I can't check anything else because whenever I try to open Add-on manager, Firefox crashes.
I reinstalled again, just in case, but it's still happening.
Is it significant that the 'Update' buttons of the two outdated plugins won't work when I click on them?
    Thanks again!

  • Safari opens but crashes when loading any page

I recently upgraded to Safari 6.0 (7536.25) on Lion 10.7.4. Now Safari opens but crashes as soon as I try to load a page. I've tried most of the fixes that I could find in the recent posts:
different pages to be sure it isn't page specific
    disabled all extensions
renamed the extension folder so it wouldn't be accessible (even though all were disabled)I noticed that Safari recreated the folder still with all extensions disabled but just in case I clicked the Off switch at the top of the Extension list
renamed cache.db to get a new one
    renamed webpageicons.db
Reinstalled Safari from the link in one of the forum posts
    Please help!

I forgot to include the crash report info:

  • InDesign crashes when inserting new page(s)

I have a landscape document with facing pages. The origin was an Indd CS3 document opend with CS 5 and saved. I can move pages from one location to another but the attemt to insert one or two new pages will cause indd to crash. This is not a general problem this seems only to happen with this particular doc.

  • Firefox crashes when loading some pages I have looked at plug-ins and themes as the problem but I do not have any of the ones that are listed as causing problems.

Recently I downloaded some up grades for my computer and now FireFox crashes when I try to change pages on web sites. It crashes in financial sites, my earthlink email account and a business web site I manage.

Thank you for the replies.  Everyone was correct about the jack, interface, and phasing problems.  I have been unplugging my motu audio interface and then using headphones at work.  I have not changed any detailed audio output settings in logic.  When I read that the jack might be a problem I tried switching headphones.  This actually helped.  I am using dre-beats headphones and they seem to be having issues with the mac/jack-(the phasing/panning problems.  I can use these headphones with other devices but not the mac.  I have to use ipod ear buds and the phasing seems fixed.  Hopefully this information is helpful to someone else.
If anyone knows how to correct this issue please let me know its difficult to know what my final mixes are going to sound like and I have had to keep bouncing everything into i-tunes- sync to ipod and then listen in my car radio.

  • Firefox crashes when loading any page with flash. I have tried all available fixes including plugin updates. If I disable flash the crashes stop, but no flash.

Firefox crashes on any page with flash. I have the most recent version of Firefox on OSX Snow Leopard. I have made sure that I have all the most recent plugins and extensions and I am not running any custom theme. I have completely un-installed and re-installed Firefox and flash to no avail. I think the problem is in some user preference, but I cannot seem to find it. If I log out and use a different user on my machine, Firefox does not have the flash crash problem.

    ??

JYOuyang: I have the correct plugin for Flash. My problem is not the "Flash crashed" icon, which would be generally acceptable, but FIREFOX crashing, usually rather dramatically. I have since regressed to Firefor 3.6.3. I am still using Flash 10.1, the newest version. This no longer causes Firefox to crash. Now then -- if the same plugin causes no crashes in the new version of Firefox and does cause crashes in the prior version, it is not exactly a humongous leap to conclude that maybe, just maybe, there was a bug introduced in Firefox 3.6.4? I mean, it's not as if a major feature of 3.6.4 was a significant change in how plugins interact with the browser or anything... oh, wait, there was, wasn't there? Hmmm. Saying "It's Adobe's fault!" rings a little hollow when the 10.1 plugin works correctly in the prior version of Firefox. Any kind of host/plugin model relies on a contract between the host and the plugin, and when there's a crash, it indicates one side or the other broke that contract. Under the circumstances, it's difficult not to suspect the blame for this lies on the Firefox side. It's certainly possible that Adobe's code IS broken and the problem is that it SHOULD work with the new version of Firefox, if it were properly written, but it's not, so it doesn't. However, no one seems to want to dig down to find out or provide a workaround other than regressing to 3.6.3, so that's what I've done -- Firefox does too many other things right for me to switch browsers at this point.

  • Safari keeps crashing when loading up pages!!

I'm running OS x 10.8.2 on a retina MBP and Safari (6.0.1) will crash on me when I load up tabs quickly.  It's really annoying and I hope Apple will take care of this otherwise I'm switching to CHROME which i would prefer not to.

I have restored my iOS devices a number of times in order to resolve issues and it has gone very smoothly every time. I am not going to lie, it takes a fair amount of time to backup, restore the iOS and then restore from the backup, but it could very well resolve the issue.
On the other hand, it may not help at all. Restoring the software is a standard troubleshooting measure And that is why it is recommended when other suggestions aren't working. But before you restore, there are a couple of other things that you could try,
Reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings. You will not lose any data when you do this, but it does take some time to enter all of the device settings again, so be aware of that.
Another thing to try is to erase the device and start over. This is different than restoring to factory settings. Reads rhis for more information.

  • Crashes when loading certain pages and it also crashed my adobe

I can't get my pages to stay open or keep my computer from locking up. I can no longer use my adobe either to read pdf's on my desktop or ones that I need to download. I have refreshed and reloaded my pages. I have tried to update both firefox and adobe but while they will both download they will not install because of some type of errors -- telling me that they can not be updated.

  • Firefox is crashing when loading specific pages.

I've tried disabling and re-enabling each plugin, I've downloaded the newest version of Firefox, and ''nsBrowserOpt.dll'' doesn't seem to be the problem. My computer recently (like two hours ago, haha) crashed and rebooted using Microsoft System Recover with a recovery date of February, if that has anything to do with it--prior to the computer crashing, Mozilla had a lot of hang-ups, but no crashing. I suspect malware, but I'm really not at all sure, because Norton keeps coming up with that little window that says "A recent attempt to attack your computer has been blocked." which is slightly unsettling. But I don't know where to go from there.
    I'm really terrible at computers.
