InDesign crashing when using type tool - any help?
Hi,
Ive looked for this problem in the threads here but couldnt find the solution, only similar problems.
I use InDesign on OSX and it works fine until I use the type tool - in new or old documents. Then it crashes.
I tried reinstalling the program and uninstalling, also uninstalling the last fonts added to the system to no success.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Its CC and it was working perfectly.
I was on OSX Mavericks when I last edited documents.
I've updated the OS to Yosemite a few days ago. Illustrator and Photoshop worked perfectly on Yosemite.
I also installed a few fonts, which worked on Illustrator, if that's of any help.
I've uninstalled all the recent additions and tried using InDesign afterwards, but its still crashing.
I can post the error log I receive.

Bug Report... Catalyst crashes when using type tool
FC is crashing nearly everytime I use the type tool or import type from AI or PS. It happens after import when I select the text to modify. I am running FC Beta 2 and am on Mac OSX 10.6.1. (the properties panel under common blanks out (doesn't show anything ie. X:, Y: W:, H:, Etc...) right before it crashes.)
Thought i'd post back here.. I think I have fixed the type tool issue in Catalyst. Since I am a designer by trade I had about 2500 fonts enabled on my machine... I usually dont have them all enabled but I just bought my new computer and didnt even think about it... so I disabled a good chunk, at least half, and the type tool is working fine so far.... it's only been about an hour or so since ive done it so, not sure if its 100% solution, but at least it has helped...
Might want to check the amount of fonts you have enabled when working with catalyst... keep it to a minimum. -
Photoshop CS5.1 (version 12.1) crashes when using Warp Tool
Hi there,
Our retouchers have started to use Photoshop CS5 and things seems fine overall, but one user got three chrashes and he says it happens when using the Warp Tool. I don't have any more details than that currently.
The computer is the latest generation Mac Pro (mid 2010) with six core 3.33 GHz processor, Mac OS X 10.6.7, ATI RADEON 5870 graphics card.
All current updates for Creative Suite applied.

There's no ”Log Transport” folder to be found for some reason.
On another users computer I find the structure and one crash log, but he gets that crash when trying to save onto an AFP server (seems fine to save locally).
I guess a crash when saving onto a server isn't of much interest since I understand it's only supported to save onto the local drive?
Here comes the log anyway, but like I said this is for crash upon saving onto server. Can't find the ones for crash when using Warp Tool.

IDCS2 InDesign crashed when using ConversionProvider
Before,we asked another company to develop a plugin for us, which is developed by a lot of c code. So my leader asked me to develop another version by using c++ and using the PMString instead of the char*.
But now, I have met a problem. When it is used on Windows platform,there is no problem. When it is used on Mac platform, most of documents are no problem too. But a few of them make the indesign crash when opening.
So I debug it,before indesign crashing,it displays the message as follows:
message 1: ConversionMgr::StoreIDPluginInfo() - Cannot find information for Plugin 0x59480
message 2: ContentMgr::RemoveUntouchedIDs() - Cannot find plugin information!
Does anyone know?

Frequent Indesign Crashing, CS6 and Now CC, any help for a fault finding novice?
Good afternoon,
I have been experiencing a lot of crashes, firstly with CS3 on my old system, then with CS6, then I upgraded to a new PC and still had CS6 crashes and now i have CC and still having similar issues.
My system is Windows 8 Pro 64 Bit, with 8GB Ram.
The crashing can happen upon Indesign boot, even with a simple 3Mb file opening and can also occur randomly mid work.

I have looked through the forum but am not certain if other faults i have come across are related to mine or not so If anyone can advise the best course of action it would be much appreciated. I am not the most technically minded when it comes to the running of the pc so any help would be great.

DI hope you are running any of your InDesign versions at their most-recent patched version; not at their out-of-the-box versions. Click on Help > Update in InDesign in order to download and install the version patch.
Have you tried this? Opening the C:\Windows\Temp folder while no programs are running; selecting all the .tmp files and all the files beginning with a tilde (or really select all files and sub-folders within that folder) and delete them and then reboot your Windows machine and see if it feels better and runs InDesign more stably.
Another chicken-soup idea to investigate is to obtain a font utility software like FontDoctor. Run this investigative software on your installed fonts to see whether it finds a corrupt or partially corrupt font. Remove any such bad fonts. BTW, simply getting rid of old fonts is a good idea. Get rid of all your PostScript Type 1 fonts. Leave only OpenType fonts on your system.
Afterwards, maybe your system will crash less. -
Cs5 crashing whilst using selection tool - pls help

does anyone who how to fix this problem when using the selection tool? Photoshop seems to crash each time i use the selection tool, even if the thing im selecting is fairly small, i have tried deleteing the ps preferences file, turned off open gl and turned off export to clipboard...
is there anything else i should be doing as this is VERY annoying and keeps losing my work! Especially on an imac as it crashes the whole computer and i have to power off and on again..

sarahYou must have some system related problem there causing that. On mac Photoshop never crashes the Operating System on its own.
• First of all do a system update, make sure that you have updated your Operating system to its most recent version - Software Update.
• if you have already done the above - then run Onyx

• After you have done this you may need to trash Photoshops Preferences, to start Photoshop with a clean slate.
General advice with macs is that although these days they are very reliable, its still best to do these maintenance tasks every once in a while. For tip top speed of operation as much as anything else. Unfortunately people get a little lax on these tasks, now things are so generally reliable. -
Camera raw (4.6) crashes when using straighten tool

Since I upgraded my computer from Windows Vista to Windows 7 I have a problem when using the straighten tool in Camera raw. Sometimes the program works fine, but very often ACR unexpectely crashes. It doesn't matter how many photo's I have opened in ACR, it seems to be randomly. Strange thing is also that I never see a dotted line when using the straighten tool.
I'm using CS3 with the latest CS3 version of ACR (4.6). I have uninstalled CS3 2 times already, but it doesn't solve the problem.
I also have a laptop with CS3 and ACR 4.6 running on Vista, and there I have no problems. Also when I had Vista on my desktop it was OK, but now with windows 7 I have this problem.

AMD Phenom II X4 955 1.6 GHz
4GB RAM
I did see a thread with quite the same problem in CS4, and the advice there was upgrading ACR, but since the ACR I'm using is the latest version for CS3, I can't upgrade ACR. I also can't downgrade to i.e. ACR 4.5 since the previous versions of ACR don't support my Nikon D700.
I hope that anyone of you can help me solve this problem. It's very frustrating when I'm at work and ACR crashes so often.I have disabled Desktop composition for Photoshop and Bridge and until
l now I haven't had the crashes anymore. Also the line is back
when uing the straighten tool. I hope this is indeed the solution, it looks good until now. -
Illustrator cc crashing when using curvature tool
OK, the new curvature tool is very easy and saves time in certain situations, but every time I try to move a point on a curve using the tool Illustrator crashes.
Anyone had a similar experience? I am using a Sony VAIO laptop I7 with 8g RAM and an AMD 7570. Video driver support is nonexistent as the manufacturer drivers do not work and Sony dumped the VAIO line. ANy other ideas?

Can you please share the dump file of AI CC 2014 when it crashes ?
Steps:
1) When AI displays the crash dialog right after moving the curvature point then please do not dismiss it.
2) Launch Task Manager
3) Right Click on the Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 listed in Task Manager
4) Choose the option "Create dump file"
5) Let the dumping operation get completed and then share the newly created dump file "Illustrator.dmp" using any file sharing online services.

InDesign crashes when using the Library
Frequently, but not every time, InDesign will crash when I use the Library to insert copy. Has anyone else experienced this? Any known bugs or fixes?

Indesign crashes when select Text tool
Hi,
Since this morning I've a problem with InDesign CC. Every time I try to select the Text tool, InDesign crash, even with new file.
During a period it was also impossible to only start InDesign. But I've clear my cache and it works again, but the text tool crash remain.

When I've tried to restart my mac with safe boot, it was OK but no in "normal" mode.
I've had a Keynote/Page and Numbers update this morning, I think it's possible there have have a link...

PSE9 crashes when using editing tools
After over 10 hours on the phone with
Adobe support and spending $200
+ for Ram and processor upgrades
they still can not find the reason PSE9 crash every time i use editing tools. Most often the Auto red eye and spot healing tool, but it will crash in organizer also.Try resetting the PSE preferences by
1. Close Elements.
2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Edit.
3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Try now and let me know your comments.
Also would be good if you can share your system info from Help->System Info in PSE.

Selecting a color for words when using Type tool
Mark,
I was successful with adding names to photographs using the Type tool as you suggested, but at only a gray shade. In order to stand out on certain backgrounds is there an option in Elements 5.0 for adding text in either white or black letters?The Type tool sets the text color to the current foreground color. You set this color by clicking on either the foreground color box at the bottom of the tools menu or the color box in the toolbar.
However, since your text is gray I'm guessing your picture is in Grayscale. If this is the case, change it to color mode. In PSE2 this is: Image>Mode>RGB Color. In PSE5 it might be a different path. The picture will still be B&W but you can now add color text, including black or white as you mentioned. -
Photoshop CC Crashes When Using Certain Tools

When ever I load up Photoshop CC and I try to use the magnifying glass and the slice/crop tool, PS just stops working and crashes. Can someone point me in the right direction?I updated to the latest AMD driver from the website and still no dice.

ITunes libaray sorting ablums... skips the "The" in albums titles...
Why in the latest version of iTunes 7 does it not sort the album titles with the word "The"?? Is there anyway to turn this back on other than changing the setting "Sort By" field and adding the "The" back in? Ta! Stickymicky
