InDesign CS 5.5 save error code 0

Trying to save a document in ID 5.5 I get the error message saying: "Cannot save "xxx" under a new name. The file "DBTmp7302-2094074591" is damaged (Error code: 0)". Started a new document and tried to save, same thing.
Resetting preferences doesn't help, neither reinstall. What can I do?
I'm running OSX 10.8.2

I had the same issue, ... error code:0. Tried the solution above which doesn't work. Found this on nother forum (objectmix.com › Application Support › Adobe Tools › Adobe Indesign) and seems to be the cause of the issue:
"I got something like - cannot save file error code 1 damaged -
anyway - I Googled it for a while and didn't get anywhere - then I did some experimenting. Basically, I think your problem is that you are either:
1. using symbols like "/" in the filename
2. or doing what I was doing which was trying to save the file in an (accidentally) locked folder. To fix this - right click on the folder and get info - open up sharing and permissions and make sure that your username has full read write access. I also clicked on the settings cog button and applied this setting to everything in the contents of the folder. The folder had somehow corrupted during a network transfer and this is what was making inDesign not play ball.
IE these situations are actually nothing to do with inDesign. But the app doesn't exactly help you out with a better explanation - you have to hunt for it!
Hope this helps other lost souls."
No:2  was in the end exactly what was my problem. I had a network folder that for some unknow reason had gotten locked. Nothing to do with ID itself but got me some gray hairs trying to fix it in the middle of rush getting material ready to print. This is definitely good think to check if you get this error code.

  • Save Error code 44

    Hi all,
I am using labview 13.0 and I'm trying to save my project in another location using "Save As->Duplicate .lvproj file and contents" with all dependencies.  I select a location on my computer and it starts running. After it has run through a few files, I get the following error:
    Labview: Generic file I/O Error
    Cannot save class "setMaximumHeaterPowerMessage.lvclass"
Labview save error code 44: could not move temporary file to destination.
I press OK and it asks me to select an "Emergency Backup Destination for "setMaximumHeaterPowerMessage.lvclass" I do so and then get:
    Labview: Generic file I/O Error
    Cannot save class "setMaximumHeaterPowerMessage.lvclass"
I press OK and the saving process stops.
Googling the problem only led to a couple articles talking about virtualbox, which I am not using. I have enough space on my hard drive.
Does anyone know what is causing this problem and how I can fix it?
    Thanks in advance
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Believe it or not but, it was because the path names of some files were too long

  • Save error code 48

I'm running LV in Classic on OS X 10.2 Been working great for months. Last night, LV decided it can't save my files anymore. I get the following message: "File permission error occurred. LabVIEW Save error code 48: Could not move temporary file to destination."
Worse than not being able to save, LV then erases the original. I really need help with this one! Thanks in advance

Hi. Thanks for your response. This was strange problem in that I have been using LabVIEW for months on my machine w/o this issue arising. I think what might have happened is that my last update of virus definitions might have done something (Norton Antivirus) as the problem started right after that.
I did re-install LabVIEW but to no avail. What did work was giving myself administrative priveleges on the computer. I'd rather not run it that way. I would like to keep my regular account free of administrative power as the kids sometimes jump on there. So, it is working now, but if you have any other thoughts to let me return to my previous settings, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

  • Labview 2009 save error code 3 : FP heap.

    Hello experts,
I'm currently trying to upgrade from Labview 8.6.1 to Labview2009. At the moment, I'm having problem saving vis which were O.K with version 8.6.1.
And it appears a lot of vis affected by this error. I was wondering if it is a bug of Labview2009 and better stay away until it will be fixed? Thank you.

    Hi NitinD,
It feels like some of the typedefs are causing troubles rather than VIs themselves. I attached one of the typedef which I still get this save error in LabView9.0.
    Cheers.

Since installing SP1 for Labview 2011 I've started getting this error from time to time:
So far I've been lucky and not lost much work due to this, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time. I haven't made any significant effort yet to try and find what circumstances cause it - can anyone shed any light on it?

Do you have very big typdef control because I have encountered the same error when I tried to duplicate one of my giant cluster and saving the vi.
The best solution is the one you find it by yourself

  • Error Code 5

Alrighty so I'm sick of the error code 5's and in desperate NEED for them to stop!
I never used to have them but then for some reason I had to uninstall my program and reinstall it.
ever since then i have been getting them left and right for almost the past 6 months and it finally just hit me hard with a project that ive put some time into.  I've seached to get the files recoverd but I've decided to just count my losses and just try and solve the problem before it happens again.
So what do you think?  should I maybe try and reinstall my program again or does that have absolutely nothing to do with it?
I tried calling support but I would rather not spend money and get a yes or a no.
and if I reinstall.... will it harm any of my files that I have on my computer right now?
      Thanks much!!!
P.S. Does anybody have ANY idea what the deuce "Error code 5" even means?  yeah corrupted file but HoW does this happen!!!
haha sorry... this darn error code has really got the best of me today....
    Janell

Windows or Mac? Operating system version? InDesign version?
Reinstalling InDesign is probably a good idea. As long as you're not doing something unsupported like CS3 under Windows Vista.
It will not harm your existing InDesign files.
I gather Error Code 5 is a somewhat serious problem, but I'm not too sure. When does it appear?

  • Known causes for Error Code 5: BD Heap

I spent a few hours this morning fighting with an internal error code 5 BD Heap error every time I tried to copy a section of my block diagram and save it, and finally figured out the sole source of my problem:
When copying sections of the block diagram, never copy a structure that contains a feedback node whose initializer lies outside that structure, unless you find the initializer and select it too.
I think this also counts as an "Insane Object" error. You can also fix it by deleting the feedback node and replacing it but if I tried to do this after a save attempt LabVIEW fatally crashed; so I'd suggest you do it as soon as you have copied the code, before you try to save anything.
If anybody has other known causes for this error, please post them for the benefit of others here.

    Hi, Ben,
I have the same error (see attached images). I have no idea how to do with it.
And my code is not even finished, whenever I made some change, it said save error code 5 bd heap.
What can I do? Please help.
    Thanks

  • CS4 InDesign Error Code 5 - PLEASE HELP (!)

Hi, please please if any of you have suggestions to solve this problem or ANYTHING, please lend me a hand!
I tried to contact suppose-to-be open 24/7 customer service but on the phone the automated female voice tells you it is actually Mon-Friday. LOL.
    OK, here is my problem.
My computer had to be rebooted yesterday morning, nothing unusual as it often happens.
Rebooted my Mac and tried uploading few InDesign files later on in the day.
Other files that were on before rebooting restored themselves but then an Error message came up with one file,
    "Cannot open "file name.indd".
The file "file name.indd" is damaged and cannot be recovered (Error code 5)"
I am one of those Ctrl+S freaks so my work was saved before the reboot.
If the problem is within the restoring file system then why are all the other files safe and sound?
After intense googling on the matter, I suspect that it might be the size of the file.
I read a few cases where cos the file was too big, they had the same Error code 5 and lost them.
127.5MB is the size of the file but there have been no warnings previously nor was I informed that the size would cause a FATAL problem like this.
Anyway I tried out about all of the potential solutions given on Google.
    -Quit and restarted InDesign.
    -Rebooted Mac.
-Moved the file in to a portable hard drive and  tried opening from there.
-Opened from other programs such as Photoshop etc.
-Created a new computer account and re-installed InDesign.
    -Deleted and recreated InDesign Preference.
    -Tried it the next day.
    PLEASE help me...
That file happened to be THE MOST IMPORTANT one out of them all.
I spent few weeks working on that with hardly any rest or sleep.
The deadline is too close for comforts....please help.

Copy + Paste or Dragging them on to the page.
Does this make the file size too big to handle cos of all the links?
If so, why has it happened now?
Why has it not happened instantly or gave me a warning about the file size?
Thank you for the feedback, I really apprecaite it.
Even though it may mean my file's lost forever at least I know better now. Thanks.
There are no links when you copy/paste. When you say drag, do you mean from Bridge or Finder/Explorer, or from Photshop? Dragging from Photoshop is the same as copy/paste. All you get is low-res screen preview embedded in the document.
I suspect this doc may be as large as it is because it hase a lot of useless change information in it. ID save all the change info each time you hit save. When the doc is closed, that information is still retained, but is no longer usable. To reduce file size you should do a "Save As."
Have you tried deleting the recovery information and opeing the file from the menu? I don't think it will help, but it might.

  • Can't save file: Error Code 0

I'm having trouble saving my files using InDesign CS5. The following message comes up: Cannot save... the file "DBTmp534-829951059" is damaged (error code: 0) (Also this affects saving my "Word" documents.) Please help! This project is due tomorrow! Thanks!
P.S. I tried to follow one of the prior suggestions I saw under troubleshooting, but couldn't find the file to delete.

This is a file problem, not something that is likey to be fixed by deleting anything.  That's a very serious error, are you still able to open the file?  If you can try exporting to .idml and see if that can be saved to a new name. See Remove minor corruption by exporting

  • Incompatible with Adobe InDesign (Error code: 14)

    Hi all,
I've been having major problems with InDesign CS3 and OS 10.5. It always crashes when I try to Place, Export, Save As, anything that requires it to navigate the finder.
Now, while trying to export to PDF, the document froze. So I had to force quit it. Now ANY InDesign file I try to open gives me the error message:
The file "file name" is incompatible with Adobe InDesign (Error code: 14).
Has anyone experienced this? I'm now stuck as I cannot open anything to get some work done.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi all
I have the excat same problem. Indesign CS5 and also my CS4 comes op with the error code 14.
It qrashes before I get into the program, also when I open it throug the program Icon and not the file.
    I have tried:
    Restarting
Shot down and take out the power cord for severeal minutes
Deleting the preference files "Defaults" and "SavedData" manualy
Deleting the file "InfoPlist.Strings" in folder "itlproj" which was a folder that keept showing on restart. (it was a italian languae to a dropdown shadow throug Flash CS5)
Remove indesign CS5 and CS4 (with the program uninstall icon) and reinstalled it
I have no clue to what more I can do. Think it could be a system fault. I have the following:
    Mac OS X Version 10.6.8
    Dual core Intel Xeron
    Snow leopard
It just suddenly didnt work. Couldnt copy paste text from a mail into a file in Indesign and then it just crashed. Havent installed any new updates or programs so it is very weird.
Any help would be very much appriciated

  • InDesign CS5 Error Code 5

    Hi everyone,
I know this has been discussed before, yet I cannot find an up to date discussion. Firstly my 2.8 mb file wouldn't open this mornign due to the above error code. There are three questions I have:
    1. Why did this happen?
    2. How do I avoid this from happening again?
    3. Is there a fix for this yet?
I am a publisher and use indesign for all our published works. Generally we back up frequently with different names. Sofar we have not encountered this problem before. This time it is on a document which only had about one hour worth of work in it, still it is annoying.
    Sandra

I don't believe anyone can tell you precisely why this happened to you -- too many variables -- so it would be equally impossible to tell you how to prevent it beyond the normal good work habits stuff: Save as to remove old and useless change info on a regular basis, don't use fonts of questionalble quality or origin, try to avoid .eps if you have another choice, and of course back up regularly.
I found an old thread from last year in which Eugene Tyson and I both searched our archives and reported several thousands of files, and neither one of us remembers ever having more than one or two files fail, and none specifically with error code 5. ID is VERY reliable, even under circustances that will bring down many other programs, so if you are seeing this with any sort of frequency (like more than once in three years), I'd duspect you have a problem on your system, possibly hardware, possibly a font, or possibly your electical supply is spiking or something froom time to time and you're unprotected.
A google search for indesign error code 5 brings up a lot of discussion, some of which you might find useful, bu tthe bottoom line is probably once a file hits the level of damage that will generate an error cod 5 failure it's pretty much toast. Your best bet in such a case is the Markzware solution (run back and forth through Quark using ID2Q and Q2ID). If you don't have Quark and the plugins, Markzware will attempt recovery for you with a no results no charge policy. last I knew the fee for success was about $200. Fix Your Bad InDesign Files!
