InDesign CS reinstall?

Running Mac OS10.6.8, trying to reinstall InDesign CS, getting message "qualifying product cannot be found on this computer." My hard disk went down, bought a new one and reinstalled from backup, but when I tried to use InDesign CS I got the message that certain elements were missing and that I should reinstall from my CD. Then I got the above message. I have serial numbers for both InDesign and the older PageMaker. What do I need to do to install InDesign CS?

Jay - I'm sorry, I wasn't clear enough in my initial post. I was trying reinstall from the original CD but the got the message: "qualifying product cannot be found on this computer." Perhaps I purchased an upgrade from PageMaker and the reinstall is searching for Pagemaker to make sure I qualify? Frustrating. I had a similar problem with PhotoShop but that was solved when I talked to tech support at Adobe. Alas, that option seems to have disappeared.

How do I get indesign to reinstall?

My Adobe Application Manager says Indesign CS6 is installed, but it is not? Other apps installed ok. I simply need it to update itself and "see" indesign as not installed.

We can't know. You're not offering us any system information nor what exactly you did. The standard answer is to simply run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool and let AAM reinstall again. Anything beyond that realyl requires more info.

Indesign CC Reinstall issues

Indesign CC kept crashing at startup, so I removed it from my Applications folder.
The Apps Manager shows InDesign CC as "up to date" (see attached screenshot) ... hard to believe considering I trashed it ...
Now, my Apps Manager won't give me the option of reinstalling it ... what do I have to do to reinstall InDesign CC ... ?

InDesign Information:
The user is saving to a network location, but even saving to the local disk has the same issue where it basically undoes all the edits after the file was opened or cannot save at all.
What the user does in the file itself:
Text Changes, Copying Text from another file and pasting it. Other Simple revisions.
We just reinstalled InDesign to see if that will alleviate the issue but hoping there was a more definitive answer as to why this is happening or how to prevent it from happing.

Reinstalled InDesign does not respond

Hello, I have a new hard drive and reinstalled CSS 5.5 and while PhotoShop and Illustrator work fine, InDesign didn't respond. I removed the RecoveryData file and deleted the preferences and no luck. So, I uninstalled InDesign and reinstalled it and the same thing is happening. I can open ID but any move forces the application to "not respond." I would appreciate any help as I've been reduced to using ID 2 on an older computer. Thanks.

Reinstalling InDesign CC after initial Download

I downloaded InDesign CC this morning and it kept crashing and then my computer started acting weird.
So, I decided to uninstall InDesign and reinstall it, but Creative Cloud will not allow me to redownload it. the Manager says the app is up-to-date.
Does anyone know what I need to do to redownload the files so I can install it again?

InDesign CS4 will not launch but other apps will

So I was using InDesign yesterday, it closed itself, and I haven't been able to open it since. CS4 Design Premium on Windows XP pro SP3.
I click on it and nothing happens. The other problem I'm having is with Acrobat 9 Pro.. it opens for just a few seconds and then closes.
All the other programs in the suite open and function fine.
I tried uninstalling Acrobat and InDesign, then reinstalling and that didn't solve the problem. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the ENTIRE CS4 suite and that didnt' solve the problem. I am at my wit's end.. what in the world could be causing just InDesign and Acrobat to do this?

Can I repair the ntdll.dll fault that prevents InDesign CS4 from opening in Windows 7?

I am running Windows 7, all updates installed, and CS4, updated to 6.0.6.622. This problem does not affect any other app in CS4. Starting yesterday, InDesign would crash as soon as I opened a document. Then it would crash before I could open a document. Now it crashes once the small pink splash screen displays. The Windows detail is this:
The same behavior occurs with with my machine in Safe mode.
I have not added any fonts.
I attempted the manual "trash preferences" procedure found on this site.
I attempted the "default printer" solution.
I already rolled back my system to October 13 (my earliest possible restore point) and then reinstalled InDesign, then when the problem persisted installed the 6.0.6 patch again. So rolling back from the update is not a solution. Would uninstalling inDesign before reinstalling be required?
This department (3 users) got new laptops witn Windows 7 and CS4 in January, and I am the only one experiencing this. I know I am current on all updates, but I can't speak for everyone else. Perhaps I am too up-to-date.
My IT dept thinks the standard solution of re-imaging the hard drive is required, but that takes a day and then another two to reinstall/re-register/reconfigure all my apps. I have work to do!

I just tried the Recovery Folder solution, where you delete the contents of the folder. This sounded promising, because the first time ID crashed, a document was open. When I launched ID again, the doc was recovered. I closed it without saving changes, after which ID crashed. After that point, ID never got beyond the splash screen. There were two items in the folder (see screenshot), but alas, no joy.
Thanks Peter for the cleanup - I had not spent any time reading the forum how-to (and I write user docs).

InDesign CS3 Unexpectedly quits

Installed InDesign CS3 (actually all of Creative Suite 3 Standard) on a brand new MacPro Intel G5 running Leopard about 5 weeks ago (2 GB ram). (Ran all updates that were available at the time.) All CS3 products were working fine until InDesign started crashing when starting up with the "unexpectedly quit" message. (Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat portions still fine.) In Design had only been started 5-6 times since the initial install was completed.
Have since run OS 10.5.4 update and InDesign 5.0.3 update (and permissions repair, of course). Still will not start. Have dumped InDesign preferences and all Adobefnt.lst files. Have tried starting in safe mode and root user. Still crashes. (Three other older computers with same software - 2 Intel G5s and 1 G4 - are all fine, so it's not like I don't know what I'm doing at all!)
I'm thinking I may have to dump InDesign and reinstall it with all of its updates. I'd really rather figure out what caused the problem and fix that, so I don't have to deal with this yet again.
Upon InDesign startup, it seems to get past the "startup services" portion and crashes on something that has "..SING.." in it. This goes so fast, though (on every computer), that I cannot pick up on the complete phrase.
Anyone know what this "SING" thing is, and what could make it corrupt?

Addendum to my original post . . . I found something about "SING" in the knowledgebase where it indicated permissions might need to be expanded on that file to include the user being able to read and right. I've done this but to no avail.
What loads immediately after this "SING" thing? I've tried to read this on other computers, but it's just too fast. That could be where InDesign on this computer is crashing, but I don't know what to look for, since I cannot read it at all.

Where are all of my InDesign Shortcuts?!

Recently I have noticed my Indesign has deleted almost every shortcut with a few exceptions the main one being cmd + s to save. But everything else is gone, even the most simple of holding down shift to maintain the proportions of an image.
I have uninstalled indesign and reinstalled it, which made no changes, and have also copied a friends default set of shortcuts from the keyboard shortcuts settings into mine which also didn't work.
I'm really getting desperate so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Adobe Indesign CS4 Crashing When Printing To HP OfficeJet Pro 8500

Adobe Indesign in crashing when I select print. The only printer I have is the OfficeJet Pro 8500 (A909g) I am running the latest version of OS. (OS 10.10.1) I have uninstalled Indesign and reinstalled it from my disc. There is no update to the version I loaded. (There are newer versions of Indesign and Creative Suite) I reset the printers in system preferences. I have checked Software Update to make sure I have the latest driver. I am running Indesign on my other computer using OS 10.10.1 so I doubt that is an issue. Other Adobe software prints fine. All other programs that I have print fine as far as I can tell. I have run diagnostic software without success.

Adobe might be a better resource to check a such, as any other application work as expected as you mention.
by checking its system requirements, it seems as CS4 is incompatible with Yosemite and that may explain a such:

As I can see only InDesign CC (2014) is compatible with Yosemite.

InDesign CC keeps crashing when I move objects?

Whenever I try to move text/objects in InDesign CC the program crashes. I completely uninstalled indesign and reinstalled it, but it's still crashing when I try to move things with my mouse. It lets me move things with the arrow keys or clicking the arrows at the top, and it also lets me rotate and transform things, I just can't drag them.

It's not allowing me to download the update. The CC app isn't showing that have any updates and when I tried to download the update directly it says "Updates have been surpressed by administrator".

i was working on about 3 docs, then created a new one which had elements from the others. saved docs and closed them, went off for a break, came back and on reopening, nothing
i’ve uninstalled indesign and reinstalling from original disc at the moment so will let you know if it’s that. only thing i could think of was something to do with the fontxplorer plugin because a while into working, fx came up with an update option. i ignored then updated a bit later. can’t remember if that was the actual cause though. in my history, the one thing that is always sure to cause probs are fonts vs design programmes (id + quark)

Indesign Folio Desktop Preview not loading/working?

Hi, I'm trying to preview my Folio that I made in Indesign CC and the preview doesn't seem to be working. I press the Preview on Desktop option, the loading bar window pops up with "Preparing Preview" :
and then it goes away and nothing happens. I've already installed and updated everything that I can find related to this issue including the DPS Desktop Tools for InDesign CC from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=5657&fileID=5661 and the Adobe AIR from http://get.adobe.com/air/

I was able to get the preview to work after unistalling Indesign and reinstalling. Guess i'll never know what caused the problem in the first place but I just thought I'd post my solution incase anyone is having the same issue.

Cant open InDesign CC

Every time I try to open InDesign CC it crashes unexpectedly.
I have uninstalled InDesign CS6, unistalled InDesign CC, reinstalled InDesign CC, restarted my Mac, all while trying to launch the application through out each stage.

Yes, I did...kind of. You have to go your top naviagation bar to "go"
Hold down the "alt" key until the Library option shows up, then click on Libray.
From Library go into Caches
Then look for your adobe InDesign folder, double click to open it.
If you have any folders that read "Version 9.0, Version 8.0, Version 7.0" delete them.
If that works, you maybe like me and have to delete them everytime you want to lauch. Not a 100% fix, but at least I can run it with out it crashing.
Another option I did was delete all fonts that I felt may have been a little fishy from my system so that InDesign didn't load them. Because one of the Adobe reps thought it may have been a corrupt font.
Needless to say I still use InDesign CS6.

Indesign crashes on startup

First InDesign crashed on starting up with a message a major error ocurred.
Could not getting running after several attempts. It kept crashing. Also on opening a document or just launching InDesign.
Reinstalled indesign ( I am using CS6 ). Now it does not even start. On start up it gives the message: InDesign unexpectatly quit.
It worked fine till a few days ago. Just working on some documents.
What is te issue?
