Indesign CS2 upgrade to CS3 - Teaser

Have a teaser question. I have creative premium suite CS2 which I have recently upgraded to web premium CS3. This upgrades all the software within the CS2 suite except Indesign which remains CS2.
My question is can I now upgrade my Indesign CS2 to CS3 even though my Indesign CS2 was part of the original creative suite. I basically want to avoid having to pay full price for IDCS3.

How recently is recently? If less that 30 days, return it as Nini says
and buy the Design Premium Suite which now includes Fireworks.
You cannot upgrade just InDesign.

  • CS2 Upgrade to CS3

I purchased CS3 Design Premium and it will not take my CS2 serial number. Suggestions?

You need to contact Adobe Support either by chat or via phone when you have serial number and activation issues.

  • Opening CS2 document in CS3 Server not working,

    Hi
I'm trying to open an InDesign CS2 document in CS3 Server, but when I do that, the Application.open() doesn't return.
InDesignServer.exe starts working for a while, creates a lock file, but then it starts to idle and the call won't return.
After this, I cant do anything against the server anymore, until i restart it.
Is this a known issue? is there a solution for this?
    I'm using the Java/CORBA interface.

  • Installing Indesign CS2 on WIN7 64-Bit

    Hello,
i tried to install InDesign CS2 Upgrade from the original CD-Rom on a new PC with WIN7 64-bit.
To activate the installation I used the serial number from the version 1.0 IGP100R7012137-635 from the original register card from InDesign 1.0.
This combination was used since any years on my old XP-PC and now I want to use it on the new system.
What happened: InDesign CS2 said during the installation process: this serial no. IGP100R7012137-635 is not an InDesing serial no.
I contacted Adobe via chat and they said, I need an InDesign CS2 version without need for activation, because Adobe killed the server for this function because of technical reasons.
My question: from where can I get these InDesign CS2 version without need for activation?
The serial number from my CS2 InDesign is: Deleted by moderator.
Who can help or knows an easier solution?
Thank you in advance for help!
    Renate.

NEVER post a serial number on a public forum and be aware that CS2 is totally unsupported on Windows 7 and will be even worse on a 64 bit system. Heed the warning on that page:
Adobe does not support CS2 applications, which were released more than seven years ago. Adobe strongly advises against running unsupported and outdated software.

  • Need to default file association to Indesign CS2

    Hello,
I am using a PC/XP sp2, and i have both adobe cs1, cs2, and cs3 installed sequentially. I need to default all .indd files to open with Indesign CS2 instead of cs3 from the window explorer. However, that's not happening at all. I have tried to google the solution, and also a few available methods online, but none of them is working.
    > open file as (not working - not even recognizing the cs2 at all)
    > file association preference inside bridge cs2/cs3 (nothing happend)
    > file properties (file association refuse to work)
The only ways that I can get a .indd file to open is to (1) open the document from within cs2, or (2) open the file from bridge. Sure, it works, but it's a pain. Please let me know if yall have any idea how to resolve this? or is this the kind of issue i need to live with?
    Thanks.

    > However, you can try to force Windows to open with another program > by right-clicking any ID document (though it better be a CS2 one), > then select "Choose program". Browse to the CS2 location and check > the "Always open with" box. That oughta work.
Yeah, I have attempted that too. And we're practically talking about the same thing. The 'open file as' is a window command when right-click on the file (in this case, the .indd). I have tried that route already, but window doesn't recognize the executable and the "Always open with" checkbox is also gray out. I have already reset the default software for psd and ai to cs2, and only the indd is not responsive at all.
And the even weirder thing is that this only happens on some computer. for instance, i have run the same installation procedure on another pc/xp sp2 computer, and everything works fine. Both computers have the same os, same hardware, and same adobe cs3 software (w/ different serial key)
    > registry hack
hmm... that's an idea. Do yall know anything about it? Please do keep me (and anybody plagued with this issue) posted.
    thanks.

  • If I made a brochure with Adobe InDesign CS3, can I still open it with Adobe InDesign CS2?

    Can it open it perfectly?

There is persistent confusion over the Creative Suite version numbers.
Indesign CS2 (version 4.0) is three versions newer than Indesign 1.0
(which was not part of any Creative Suite). You're not going to be able
to do anything with Indesign 1.0 (or 1.5) except open Indesign 1.0 (or
    1.5) files.
Indesign 1.0 came out in 1999, and the Indesign 1.5 upgrade came out in
2001. Indesign CS2 came out in 2005. Your files are less than three
years old, but you want to be able to open them with 10-year-old software.
The only way you're going to be able to open ID CS2 files is if you get
    your hands on ID CS2 (version 4), CS3 (version 5), or CS4 (version 6).

  • InDesign opens CS2 docs in CS3

Does anyone know of a way to get InDesign (or any other CS3 app) to stop defaulting to opening ALL documents in the most current version (CS3) when they were created in a previous version. I need to keep my legacy documents in the version they were created in and my tendency to double-click keeps causing files to open in the most current version.
    ideas?

This was sort of covered recently.
Launch InD CS2 first. Launch InD CS3 second.
Double-clicking (or command-downArrowing) an InD doc will open CS2 files in CS2; will attempt to CS3 files in CS2, give cautions, and fail.
    Same for Illy.
The discipline becomes dragging CS3 files to the CS3 icon in the dock. Removing .indd in "Get Info" will change a file's icon to the correct version.
    Least it works here.
    HTH. YMMV.

  • Downsave Indesign cs3 plugin to Indesign Cs2 plugin

    Hi,
I have developed a plugin for Adobe Indesign CS3 using XCode in MAC.I need to downsave the same plugin to Indesign CS2.how should i go about this.Any help would be appreciated.
    Rgds,
    Oviya

There is no quick solution to converting a CS3 plugin into CS2 - especially on Mac.  You will have to get CodeWarrior (the supported version, search the forums for the version(s) and how to configure), add your code and 'reverse the porting guide/fix compile errors.

  • Upgrading Indesign CS2 to CS4 on second hand G5

Hi. I've just bought a second hand G5 from an auction. It has a working Indesign CS2 loaded but I don't know if its legal. A 20 digit number appears in the 'About Indesign' pane. I'm guessing this is the serial number. Is this correct? I would like to buy an upgrade to Indesign CS4 but I'm worried it won't install. Can anyone give advice on how I find out if my CS2 will accept the upgrade. I have my own boxed version of Indesign Design Collection with ID2.0 but unfortunately I dont think I can upgrade from that version at all.
    Thanks for any advice. Deb.

    > It has a working Indesign CS2 loaded but I don't know if its legal.
It's not. In order to be legal, the seller must fill out a license
transfer form and send it to Adobe. Absent that, legally, you should
    uninstall it.

  • How I will be able to download or upgrade Indesign, upgrade fron CS3 to Cs5.5 or Download Indesign 5

My In Design from my CS5.5 don't install some components they are wrong o corrupted. So I have installed my old CS3 to see if I can upgraded to CS5.5. It is posible to do that. Or How I can download Indesign CS5.5.
    Yours sincerely
    Aji-Picante

You cannot upgrade from CS3 to CS5.5 now as CS5.5 is no more in picture. Instead, you can upgrade to CS6.
However, if you need the download link for inDesign or any other CS5.5 applications, you can use the below link to download them and then serialize using your serial key for CS5.5
    http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs5-5-direct-download-links.html
Make sure to read the download instructions properly before downloading CS5.5

  • Getting really frustrated! I bought Photoshop 7, upgaded to CS2 then upgraded to CS3, now I have had computer problems and looks like both are now gone, they were not de-installed. I have limited bandwidth (I live int he country) and need a new box versio

I bought Photoshop 7, upgraded to CS2 then upgraded to CS3.  I live in the country and have limited bandwidth for my internet, therefore, the cloud will not work and I must have a box version. In Jan Best Buy did work on my laptop and did not de-install CS3, now my desktop has died and believe CS3 on it is also gone. I have the serial numbers and can not find how to contact Adobe.
I only use it for photography and do not want CS6, so I need help, can anyone help me. Thanks a million.

Why on Earth are you getting frustrated?  ?? !!
You don't even need to "contact Adobe", unless you need to activate that old deleted version.  You are entitled to two activations.
Just download the CS3 trial version and input your serial numbers (the installer might prompt you for the previous serial number since your CS3 probably has an update s/n).
Download CS3 products  <=== click on link
Anytime you want to look for something on the Adobe site, just do a Google search and add "site:adobe.com" (without the quotes) at the end of the string of keywords, for instance, this what to type in Google to find the CS3 downloads:
    download Photoshop cs3 site:adobe.com
Just change "CS3" for whatever version you want.
Using the Adobe web site search function is futile.
Now, if you had two activations already, just call customer service and they will deactivate one or both for you—after quickly verifying your registration..  No big deal.
Click on the link below, and after that click on "Still need Help? Contact us."
Then on the next page, click Chat
There is also a phone option.

  • How do I get out of cs3 Illustrator's upgrade check? I already have a purchase serial number and there is no known, upgrade for CS3 for Illustrator. It has CS2.

How do I get out of cs3 Illustrator's upgrade check? I already have a purchase serial number and there is no known, upgrade for CS3 for Illustrator. It has CS2.

    Questions:
Is the app store looking to my hard drive for traces of aperture to determine whether it has been purchased or is it looking at some kind of purchase history within the app store?
Is there anyway to wipe my hard drive clean of aperture files or wipe clean my app store purchase history so that i can start over?
If none of this is possible, does anyone have a possible solution?
If i were to redownload aperture (currently for free since it won't let me pay) when a subsequent update comes out (say it goes from version 3.2.2 to 3.2.3) can i then elect to buy aperture, pay the fee and will it appear as a purchased app and allow me to get upgrades going forward?  Would any data be compromised with this?
    1. Do you have a backup connected to your Mac that contains the app? If so, yes the MAS can detect that and believes that the app is installed.
    2. If the app no longer appears in the purchase history on the Purchased pane in the MAS, then it would seem that Apple has taken care of that.
    4. Updates, such as you describe are free. Upgrades are not. An upgrade is a new paid version of the app, such as v 3.0 to v 4.0.

  • Opening InDesign CS3 files in InDesign CS2

I know that I can open a CS2 file in CS3 but is there any way to go backwards and open a CS3 file in CS2. Is there any certain file type that I can save as to make this work and have the file still editable or am I out of luck?

And my experience with CS3 to CS2 via INX exports, all graphics inherite a black border. Even graphic elements pasted from Illustrator will gain the nasty effect, pictures box that use to be without stroke and fill will gain the feature.
A lot of cleanning, unless the export quirk was solved since
But beside that the type seems unaltered

  • Illustrator CS2 and InDesign CS2 not starting - here is how it was solved.

This document is merely a compilation of information found at the sources named at the bottom of this document.
Basically running older Adobe CS2 Software on a MacBook Pro 10.6.x Snow Leopard - probably like many of you that either can't afford the upgrade to CS3, CS4 or CS5, or maybe don't see the need to do so.  It's running good but it is slow since it is using Rosetta, but it does work - well, used to work.
Illustrator CS2, InDesign CS2, Photoshop CS2, etc. were all running fine after the upgrade to Snow Leopard (under 10.6, 10.6.1 and 10.6.2).  Then the update to 10.6.3 was installed.  At the same time a bunch of other updates - including the Acrobat 8.2 update - were installed.  Not really sure what did it, but all of a sudden Illustrator CS2 stopped responding at the start up screen - no longer started up and InDesign CS2 popped the registration/licensing screen.  When trying to enter license info on first key press the application quit entirely.
So maybe the 10.6.3 update was the culprit.  Never even thought that it could be the Acrobat 8.2/8.2.1 updates.  Then I found this thread here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/613287?tstart=0 (good reading)
Which ultimately pointed me the the instructions here:
    >start quote from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/534/cpsid_53468.html
Replace the corresponding files present in the “ /Library/Application Support/Adobe/TypeSpt/Unicode/Mappings/” folder with the one attached to this document.
Download the attached Mac.dmg (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/534/cpsid_53468/attachments/Mac.dmg) file to a machine where the issue is seen.
    Close all Adobe applications
Double Click the Mac.dmg file to mount it.
Copy Mac folder from mounted image. Paste it to /Library/ApplicationSupport/Adobe/TypeSpt/Unicode/Mappings/.
A message appears to confirm to replace the existing 'Mac' folder. Replace the 'Mac' folder.
Launch Illustrator or InDesign CS or CS 2.
The Mac folder attached to this KB document already has the correct permissions set, so it should not be necessary to complete the steps below. However there may be cases where the permissions for the Mac folder get overwritten. In such a case, the original issue can reoccur. To solve this issue, complete the steps below:
Follow Solution 1 and make sure that all Adobe applications are closed.
Right or Control click and select 'Get Info' on the Mac folder  in “ /Library/Application Support/Adobe/TypeSpt/Unicode/Mappings/”, which you have copied from the .dmg file attached to this document.
Verify that under 'Sharing and Permissions' all users listed have no write access
If a change is required, click the padlock symbol and provide your Administrator credentials
Select the user which has Write access and change it to 'Read Only'.
Ensure the user 'Everyone' is set to 'No Access.
To check if the issue has been solved, launch Acrobat 8.2 and then Illustrator or InDesign CS or CS 2.
    < end quote
Even after following the instructions still "no love" from Illustrator CS2 or InDesign CS2.  InDesign did no longer show the registration screen, but it didn't continue launching, and Illustrator progressed further along in the start up sequence but also never finished launching.
Then I found another article on the adobe site.  I am just quoting the part performed  and which ultimately did the trick.
    >start quote from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/326/326388.html
Steps 1 and 2 are not relevant so no need to do them
    3. At the Finder, choose File > Find.
    4. TypeAdobeFnt10.lst (Illustrator CS2), select the system drive, and then press Return.
    5. Delete all AdobeFnt10.lst files found.
    6. Restart the computer.
    7. Restart Illustrator. Illustrator creates a new Adobefnt10.lst or AdobeFnt07.lst file.
    < end quote
So, this solved the problems at least for the time being.  Hope this helps someone else a bit.

Illustrator CS2 stopped working for me on Snow Leopard as well. What it all boiled down to was not to update to 12.0.1. Not sure which release of Snow Leopard I was on when I figured that out but I keep up-to-date, am now at 10.6.6 and CS2 still works fine. I keep getting prompted to update to 12.0.1 from time to time but just cancel it.
I'm fairly sure I was at 12.0.1 already when I moved from Leopard to Snow Leopard and it was that, not a Snow Leopard update, that "broke" CS2 12.0.1. If I remember correctly, if you now try to apply the update, it won't go through with it anyway.
